That was cool,
Can we use chicken broth instead of water?
❤
This channel really teaches how to cook instead of just showing recipes
You mean instead of speedrunning the cooking through the video, and not showing us any details
@@devonchristopher5837 yea. Like, I actually learn important details about the heat, the water, how to stir, when to stir, when to cover the put, etc..
Fr and it’s actually realistic meals, not huge steaks, wagyu, multi step breading, etc
Yeah it’s like a legit cooking show. Not all these “attempting to make” then they just repost the recipe without credit.
@@devonchristopher5837Like, why, from experience, do you do something, rather than because that's because it is taught like that from school
Unknowingly at the time, this is the 1st soup I learned to make and is my Go To most days but especially if I'm feeling under the weather
White Pepper ftw!!
I love a bowl of ripping hot soup with a ton of pepper lmaoo
I read White People ftw!! 💀
I just hate the smell of white pepper lol but it does taste good.
White pepper is tragically underappreciated.
Me too! I was still a dumb kid though, so i only boil some water, add stock cubes, add beaten egg, then add starch. Eat over rice. Its a nice way to stretch few an egg into 2 meal.
Thank you for posting, I just found my new fast and easy late-night snack. 🙂
you call that a snack??
@@_psyched_one_420 lol i adjusted the recipe amount to make enough for just me
is that even tasty, doesn't looks like it tho
@@rexthegamergembox it's a pretty good soup, you should try it.
You call it a snack I call it a meal
I love the quick soups you can make in small portions that you find in a lot of Asian cooking. In the west when you make soup, it’s a whole event and usually half is meant to be frozen
There are meat-free alternatives for any soup lol, they are much faster to make. Also using chicken for stock instead of pork/beef/sheep meat requires less time. And he used a powdered chicken stock omg that's not a good way to make a soup
@@hollowed4306 Whether is soup has meat or not has never factord into the quantity I make or how long it takes me to cook it, and using a powdered base for a quick weeknight side is totally fine calm down.
I’m talking about the tasty broth based soups that you can serve as a quick side, if you’re making your own stock from chicken or eating it as a main dish we’re already talking about two separate things.
I’m glad you think you know what you’re talking about though, must feel good.
@@annielynn8730 wow, sorry. Kinda never heard of soup being a side dish, lol
Still powdered broth is disgusting in my country and you can feel it instantly so still kinda gross
@@hollowed4306 “don’t yuck my yum” or how about “try some cultural awareness before correcting people”

Your Dad is such a treasure. Thank you both for the lessons.
This is truly authentic because your dad is the only one who adds water to the eggs before beating them, AND he pours and stirs them in slowly. No one else really does that. Thanks for this! ❤️
In his full length video about egg drop soup, he made it clear that he meant to put the bouillon in earlier than seen in this short. Just FYI!
Yeah, I realized that the short only showed the pouring the veg into the boiling water. I would have thought that some form of soup stock would have been present before pouring in the beaten eggs.
This soup, pour into a nice warm porridge with some chicken slice. Oh yeah
May I ask what warm porridge is? In the US, porridge is pretty similar to oatmeal or cooked oats sometimes with milk. Is that what you put the soup into? 🍲
@@sweetfreeze5528 I live in Indonesia, so i refer it to rice porridge , or congee as you may more similiar with
@@haris.saputra. I've actually never heard the word congee, but I looked it up and it looks delicious. Even saw a recipe which involved egg drop soup 🥣
Looks delicious I'll have to try it 😋
@@sweetfreeze5528 the basic of Asian porridge/congee is rice that's cooked in more water than usual.. plain and simple. This is "porridge" & some times jf pressed for time or have left over old cooked rice, we give it extra life by cooking it water, making it softer as porridge /congee/soup.. You know how Western staple is bread right? Asian stable is rice. So see how you found ways to make bread pudding deserts from old (or new) bread, we made dish from old (or new) rice. So the rice becomes more like rice soup, this is the white bland rice porridge my mom likes to eat when sick or down as it has no taste flavor except of the water and rice. Then you can add anything reallt to eat it: with salt or sugar, sugarcane pieces, or soy sauce... or scallions w/egg drop soup or any meats, veggies... anything really to add to it. Sky's the limit.
Ooh. Good idea!
This is my go to soup whenever I want something easy to cook, especially when its raining
I remember often having egg soup as a kid, man now I really wanna try it again it was so good
It's 1AM when this shorts happen to pop up and heck I try cooking it immediately!
Hats off to your dad!
It works flawlessly!
Been feeling under the weather lately, but making this soup and eating it makes me feel little better and warm inside.
Thank you and keep up this wonderful cooking tips!
I LOVE making this soup. It’s so easy and simple but nostalgic and helps me feel better when I’m sick. Also most people have these ingredients so you can easily make it.
huh! I made eggdrop soup just two nights ago! though i started with home made chicken stock, half and half with water, and some creamed corn for the veg *nodnod*
I always assumed that egg drop soup was dairy free. Why add the half and half?
@@HeatherHotcakes They may mean they used half chicken broth and half water.
Otherwise, I would assume that half and half is just something they like for the creaminess and richness.
I have been waiting for this recipe , I can't wait to make it cause we are a big soup family - thank you Mr Lau
omfg this is like one of those foods you see be made and now that’s all you want to eat for the next 5 days
I can't believe how simple and delicious this is. Thank you!
This actually looks great to have when u feel sick and dull...must be warm and comforting
This is amazing! Thanks for posting!
Just made this and was insanely good. It tasted better than some restaurants I visit. Thx for showing me how its done!
I’ve learned so much from his cooking tutorials !
I've found that if you use a squeeze bottle you can make the egg flowers individually. It's impractical, but at an action station it's visually impressive.
I am very grateful to your videos. I am a mum who lost my mum few years ago. Regretted didn't learn enough from my mum's cooking. I am now trying to cook as much for my kids, hope they would love my cooking as much as i love my mum's food ❤
Thank you so much for sharing this recipe with me. I just made it now for my mom who’s healing from heart failure. She’s unable to eat a lot of things these days but she was willing to eat this egg drop soup. ❤️🩹💐 So much love to y’all!
i’ve been trying to recreate this dish from my childhood :) thank you for all the tips i’m so excited to try it out!
I used to eat this but the soup is of Crab and Corn. It was one of the best dishes of my entire childhood only second to "Fu Yung Hai" with sweet tomato and green pea sauce. Asian Grandmas just have that food magic.
Thank you for this!! We all really appreciate people like you who help others learn! 🙂
Thank you very much. I have been trying to get this right for a while. This soup is so satisfying
We have that also in Italy :) a simple recipe usually made in winter by my grandma
That looks amazing! I think I need to make that today.
Thank you so much for sharing! It looks fabulous! definitely going to make and enjoy this wonderful soup.
Oh, my gosh. One of my favorite foods. Thank you for revealing all the ways I *should've* made it come out right. Can't wait to try, but tonight am going to make the noodle thingie you posted yesterday.
How smart to video ur dad & his cooking! Praise be to ur dad & the wisdom he is imparting to you & us all.
-His cooking is everything.
i didn't know this was so easy to make! I'll def cook this soup and add fried fish on the side so its a good partner w white rice. Thank you! ♡
I just prepared this. Awesome! Thank you!
So sweet, always a tip . Thank you, I made it now, love it!!
Great channel. Soothes my inner Canto cravings. Mr. Lau rocks!
I’ve never made this with the additional veg, but I remember watching this religiously until I felt confident enough to make it without the recipe and tips on hand. Gonna try it with added veg soon!! Love it and thank you for teaching us!
Those looping skills are amazing! The soup looks great, too
Love this recipe! Thank you for sharing!!
We love you Mr. Lau. Because you explained how to make the foods very clear and easy to cook. It’s so delicious. Thank you very much. Wishing you always be happy, healthy and happy with your family and your grandkids. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👍
I found this recipe very simple thank you for sharing ❤️
Trying this! Thank you
Thank you so much for sharing
I tried making this, but the cornstarch proportion was a little off. The soup didn't become thick at all. Had to add more cornstarch mixture but this turned out good otherwise.
I like your dad's tip in adding water to the egg mixture beforehand.
Thank you for sharing your culinary skills and recipes.
Love this! Thank you so much for sharing 💙💚 much love and prosperity to you and yours
Man!! So cool!!
That soup is so sick good!! Also ur dad!!

Dry good tips for us , now we can make the good soup easy and tasty .thank you Lau’s family !
Been looking for this. Thanks Mr. Lau.
Thank you very much for sharing.
Made a serving just for me. Used two cups water, 1 T each water and corn starch, 1 egg, 1 1/2 tsp bullion and about 1/2 tsp salt. Turned out great and tasted the same as the full recipe. Just thought I would share measurements if anyone is cooking for just themselves ❤️. So good. TY!
The texture of this soup is top tier
Yummy!❤

Really love your dad's cooking and your vey detailed, well thought out videos! Together you've helped me save a lot of money by bringing my cooking level up a couple of notches! 🤣
Man I remember eating this, my mom would make this for when any of my family members were sick.
I make this for my twins when they are sick. May include some chicken (if I have) and definitely lots of garlic and ginger. If I don't have any chicken, I know they will get their protein from the eggs.
That looks delicious 🤤🤤🤤
Love it!
am gonna try this!!😊
Perfect for hangovers.. yum😊
Thanks 4 sharing. Love egg drop soup with dumplings especially in cold weather 😋

Def the best one I’ve seen so far! I have all ingredients… LETS GOOOOO COOK!!! 💫
Egg drop soup will always be remembered as the one item that was pretty good at this one specific Chinese food restaurant.
Your recipe looks sooo much better than the one I grew up eating!!! It only had broth and the eggs. I am sooo going to cook you and your Father's recipe!! Thank you so much for sharing your amazing recipes 🥰🥰

Thank you! This was a very helpful guide. I didn’t have all of the correct ingredients, but it still turned out delicious!✨🙏🏻💜
This is so nostalgic. My parents make me these during monsoon seasons in Asia. Now here in the States, i make them also during winter. very comforting dish
I loveeee egg drop soup. Will have to make it again with these techniques. I’ve never thought to add water to my eggs.
Simple and classic.
