My and my young daughter just watched this and all I did was say stuff like "John Fogerty is one of the most talented people from California" and "This man made me cry with the way he played his guitar and sang - made a lot of people cry - tears of joy - so many times, I'm so grateful to him!"
I agree but dont forget another texan his bass player that lived on and had a great carrer and influence on😢 the world sometimes death dont stop everything
Wow , just wow . I’m 46 , as a kid I watched the Buddy Holly Story with my Dad , and asked for a guitar asap . Never been the same since . I live in Texas , and stand by my proclamation that Charles Hardin Holley is the most important musician in Texas History .
That’s so cool that he inspired you to learn/play the guitar. I live in Tulsa, OK and one of our “native sons” actor Gary Busey, played and literally “became” Buddy Holly in that movie roll. I loved the movie and Buddy Holly too, have several books about him, he was so important in the history of rock and roll. I also love the TX musician-slide guitarist Johnny Winter. TX & OK sure produced some phenomenal musicians-songwriters, must be something magical in the water✨✨✨.
Glad you enjoyed the video.. many don't realize that back then, and for over a decade, any appearance by John Fogerty was considered a rare treat, his performances were very few and very far apart.
I had the honour to play with the original crickets and Dion in a reunion show when the Buddy Holly story/movie came out Waylon Jennings referred me after I had finished touring with him and Willie Nelson
Omg 😳 how lucky were you? What do you “play?” So glad Waylon wasn’t on that plane “the day the music died”. Like a fool I didn’t care for country music as a teenager back when Waylon/Willie/Kristofferson/Skynyrd were touring summer of ‘77 “Outlaw Country”. My friends begged me to go darn it I missed out big time, love their music now. Tell us some stories we’d love to hear them! 😅
The Fog!! ‘Songs that became our hymns’ .. seemed that way to me! Though all of CCR stuff was written before I was born. Crazy. It’s like CCR songs have always existed or sound like they should of always been there. I guess that’s what makes a good song, when you feel it always existed. Thanks for this video. :)
Im 43, my dad played Buddy all the time when I was a kid, my dad gave me my great taste in music. R&R is still all i listen to especially Buddy, i still get chills when I listen to him, hes the best. I saw the Hollogram of Buddy and Roy, brought me to tears. I wish I could have seen Buddy in concert.
I brought my kids up listening to Buddy Holly. My younger son became a drummer, my other kids still love his music. I remember the day in 1959, I was eleven, when I heard of the plane crash. I am still 65 years, saddened by the loss. What did the world lose? At least we got the Beatles...who pay tribute to the King of rock and roll! 😢😊
Here's some cassettes I had when I was 10 (in 81) may be I was a fish out of water at the time, I don't know.....Buddy Holly, hits, Beach Boys hits, hits of Surf Music in the 80....of course I had Hank JR, Kenny Rodgers. I really didn't get into most of mainstream music, until high school. After high school stopped listening to main stream music again.
Absolute goosebumps stuff. My new favourite You Tube video. An awesome tribute combining best musician of the 50s with my absolute best musician of the 70s. And WOW - did John add his magic talents to these awesome songs.
Buddy was great but there were so many greats then it's impossible to pick just one best one, I mean, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Ray Charles, etc............
We use to sing along at the local milkbar with all these songs.and at63 still sing them. Its like being given,.a gift to hear this music.,,,once again,,thanks John,,JW AUST
John Fogerty is awesome with his tribute to Buddy Holly’s music. After all he was around when the Crickets were recording their music and that’s who they listened to on the radio. A few years later the Golliwogs would form and later that band would become CCR.
Fogerty sold his catalog and then was sued for sounding too much like John Fogerty, but before that the band imploded because the rest of them thought they could write songs, sad

Thanks for sharing your story of sharing the music with yet another generation
John Fogerty does a great tribute to Buddy. You can see that he really loves the songs he’s playing.
BUDDY WAS THE TRUE KING OF R & R !!
o⁹
I’m near to death, but buddy and John Prine with Karen carpenter, r putting on a show for me, when I get there. Can’t wait.
They were all kings
I can't listen to music by Buddy Holly without wondering how much good music we do not have because Buddy died so young.
I always often ponder the same thing
FACT !
Me too!

Glad you enjoyed the video.. many don't realize that back then, and for over a decade, any appearance by John Fogerty was considered a rare treat, his performances were very few and very far apart.
I am 80 years old, and Buddy Holly was one of my heroes. I also love John Fogerty, and his rendition of Buddy Holly's song is wonderful!
Check out The Bobby Fuller Four.
Yes Great song I been around long time in Music following
So you was born in 1943 or 1944
My favorite of all time. I'm 80 as well.
What I particularly like about Fogerty is that he sings it like he means it! 👏🎶🎸🎤👍😊🥳
The one and only...John Fogerty !!!...Superb !!!🎸🎸🎵🎵🌟🌟
YES.THE.BEST.
Love John Fogerty's voice!
Rock'n'Roll can never die...❤
Grew up on Buddy, number 1 but John would have to be number 2, fantastic. Two unique performers. Never saw Buddy live but have seen John many times.

There's nothing like seeing an old guy play songs from before he became a recording artist, on a Strat with a Floyd Rose Trem. LOL.
Cool that you have such knowledge. Can you explain why it's funny? Being serious. Thank you
I taped this show in 1988 too! Your video is better quality than mine--great to see it again!
John owned that stage

Great! What I learned from a local Buddy tribute artist was that Buddy always played guitar on the downstroke. That's what Fogerty seems to do.
This is what rock and roll roll was that started it all chuck buddy Jerry d Eddie with out them we have nothing Waylon on bass
miss buddy

John and Brian Setzer lived on for Buddy who unfortunately died too young, they can only but make me imagine what Holly would have accomplished.

Saw on the internet that Buddy made a wallet for Marty Robbins. Two of the coolest guys in music.
Thank you.
Thats it!!!The Best ever!

Buddy was great😂
Love Buddy and Marty Robbins. Apparently, Buddy made a wallet for Marty.
This is great! Thanks!
You're very welcome!
Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it.
Piano player sounds a lot like the “Tulsa Sound” aka Mr Leon Russell ❤
John Fogerty - großartig!!!
Rest in peace, Charles Hardin Holley ✝️ 🎶 🇺🇲
Thanks! Love this!!!
It's a crazy thing that the first song has a fourth chord every now and then! Really revolutionary! Very rich melodies too 👌
Buddy Holly > Beethoven

Seen twise im dunlin ireland
😅😊❤❤❤
Is that Nicky Hopkins @ 1.48 and near the end?
He kinda looks like Nicky H., to me. Hmmm am not sure, a good question 🙋🏼♀️
Where's the remainder of the show ?.... C'mon man !
I've tried but it gets blocked, I guess because I don't have enough subscribers or total channel views.
@@rodwolfeoldiesradiodj6545Darn it.
JF looks like Michael Landon
Not to me, more like Harrison Ford from the side view. 👍
👍 🎵 🎶
I don't think Buddy ever did "Cotton Fields".....
It was too good to break the flow and edit it out, and I think most of us can use a little more vintage Fogerty!
@@rodwolfeoldiesradiodj6545Excellent choice. Nobody will ever do “Cotton Fields” like JC, and the harmony on this version was gorgeous.
@@rodwolfeoldiesradiodj6545
heck yes! Give me a Fogerty song any day. He looks great here, he was about 43 then. Still rocking at 78.
Maravilloso como siempre GRACIAS Jhon Fogerty ❤
@@shaykatz5648John’s really hot looking here, whew!! 😅 He looks a lil’ like Harrison Ford from a side view.
Who is the other guitarist ?
The band playing with John is the”Bone Shakers!” They are a band John adopted when he was getting back in the music business iafter one of his hiatus!
@@davidkirkham6497Ty! Who’s playing keyboard/piano, someone asked if it was Nicky Hopkins?
CCR better than Beatles
thats what I've always said. Beatles were a bunch of entitled bratts. CCR were humble as fyke.
Fogerty sold his catalog and then was sued for sounding too much like John Fogerty, but before that the band imploded because the rest of them thought they could write songs, sad
Back in the day when WAEB actually played music. Now it is all political talk show crap.
Was that Paul Shaffer on the keyboard’s? 🎹I would love to see other bands paying tributes to buddy holly music 🤓🎸
Too much hair for Paul Shaffer, I think. Someone else asked if it was Nicky Hopkins?
The band John is playing with are the Boneshakers! John kind of adopted them when he was getting back in the music business!
Straight up freaking music. NO BULLSHIT LONG LIVE ROCK. Most music today SUCKS
Two of the greatest of all time.
