Hey guys, I hope this guide helps you understand DB's in Sunbreak better! As I explain in the video, this is not a guide on the basics of DB's such as combos and mechanics, so keep that in mind. On-top of that, the builds used in this video are unfinished, you can expect to see even better numbers than you see in this footage in the build video, coming soon!
Great video, lots of stuff i didn't know yet, glad i checked it out. I have question though, regarding your claim that element is always better: Even in monster cases where element hitzones are comparatively terrible? There a quite a few of those in Sunbreak as opposed to World for example that just have low hitzones even on their weakest element. The first one that comes to my mind is Astalos, where his weakest element (ice) hat values of only 5% to 15%. As a comparison, a hitzone value of 25% is considered an elemental weakpoint required for the Elembane Rampage Decoration to activate. So my question here would be, is element optimal for monsters like Astalos even though his elemental hitzones are only half of that of other monsters with 'real' weaknesses?
This is the only thing that needs to exist. I am forever in debt for this upload. I am literally sister crying. I can only hope this information spreads thousandfold amongst the heavens. I am truly ascending, and this is the single best thing to have ever come in contact with me.
Main bow in world and DB in rise, must say that running after a lots os items to progress each power spike is not the funniest thing, that's why I used HH to get to rise end game and only then made my DBs, not doing the same mistake I did in world lol, I prefer to hunt what I want not what I need.
Mention for the drill. If you're going for tail cuts check the monsters tail hit zone before departing. If it's to low grab a mud beetle. Increases the hit zones and tails will come flying off.
Personally even though I'll start making elemental builds, I'll never stop trying to make blast blades work. It's raw dmg no matter the element (usually) so I wanna make it work + with how many attacks DB can do it should proc more often.
Final boss armour set is AMAZING with dual blades. Simply deco in the elemental attack jewels as well as Crit boost and the required Crit eye to get to 40-50% affinity. Does amazing damage it’s crazy
Slide slash has a backslide, it also gets more distance with evade extender and if you have ariel db it can be triggered by triangle (ps4 controller) instead of Circle.
I really love the new options for DB in Sunbreak. I was already loving aerial DB for basically giving me the same feeling I had when I first tried Insect Glaive in 4 while also giving me the pure satisfaction of grinding on the back of monsters like a sideways helicopter just like in World. A recommendation though for DB users who are lazy like me and don't feel like making 5 different builds, Chameleos Dual Blades. Use basically the same skill setup as you would on any basic DB build with your WeX and Crit Eye/Boost/Chain, add the posion boost skill, then slap Chameleos Soul in the rampage slot. You may not out damage a DB with the appropriate Elemental weakness, but you will do very respectable damage AND you can easily keep even the most resistant monsters poisoned basically the entire fight which makes the damage even nicer.
@10:30 you can also do 2X(triangle) attacks and then spin, this works even if you've ran out of stamina and still need to reposition, then you can exit demon mode after another attack, the combo ending in the demon rush, you can exit demon mode right after that and then do the arch demon rush and back into demon mode. as for the combos dual blades have so many combo extensions and lead ins/out for demon mode youre gonna need details like these for the "ultimate" guide, a re-title to dual blade guide to get you started works better.
I'm coming back to the game as I wait for wilds and already have played world A LOT. Wanted to pick up a new weapon that I've only lightly touched. Glad you guys made this video back when I first thought about switching off charge blade for once, glad it's still here when I definitely wanna try something new.
You guys content is epic...checked the 3rd fleet podcast and I'm glad I came across your channel coz I main duel blades...your videos are helping a ton
Oh perfect timing for the video. I was currently building my Master Rank dualblades set. Been trying to do Hellion Mode and Furious in one set. And I think I finally just figured out how to make it work. Using the Daimyo Dual blades that have just the tiny blip or purple sharpness to work with protective polish. Then Furious Rajang head, arms, and legs for Furious. Pyre Rakna chest, and Sailor Skirt. This also gives Wirebug whisperer 3 and maximum might to use with the infinite stamina.
@@SeekerBaracadeous you can check it on your own too. activate arch/demon mode and check your status. or also compared the cat paws pre sunbreak hellion mode description with the current rampage deco

Of note, spiral slash is terrible when fighting Teostra. Teostra is a very blocky monster with some really bad/small hitzones. You'll whiff so much if you try to use this silkbind on them. This video was very informative, and actually inspires me to switch up my settings. For people looking for decent armor choices I recommend taking a look at the storge set from shagaru, the bonuses inherit to that set are very good for dual blades having affinity boosts, elemental boosts, stamina use reductions, and even crit element.
Lol, thank you so much. I was running elemental aerial with archdemon, and had no idea about the difference in element v raw bonuses. Definitely top level tips 💜

I felt like such a fool sleeping on ironshine silk but it really is one of the greatest additions nobody asked for. Now you dont have to go out your way for sharpness based skills (like razor sharp, masters touch or protective polish) because you can keep your sharpness up just by, well, playing as normal. this means more room for pure DPS skills.
I'm glad that element DB or elements in general are really good now. I hope it will stay that way throughout Sunbreak. I'm kinda tired of always ending up with the best raw build that overshadows everything else.
for downed monsters ive been using the combo of demon dance into spiral thrust on repeat since they cancel each others end animation lag. But idk if its worse DPS wise to just demon flight into spiral thrust combo that was showed in the video
Yes! I'm am ecstatic since i am a dual blade main. Super fun to play, always feel like I'm dominating Edit: I think the side slash combo for DB is very situational and dependent on the size of the monster. Too small and you just glide out of the way

2:41 brings a good point to keep Red Scroll with Dereliction and Demon and have Blue Scroll with Dereliction and Feral. iirc Red Derel buffs the element while Blue Derel buffs Raw and Stun. Too bad we don't have a Dual Element DB with Exhaust and an element. Maybe Blast/Ice Teo/kush DB would work?
while having the slide slash equipped (or anything I'm not sure) if you keep the analogue stick tilted backwards you while not in demon mode you do a jumping slash backwards
I personally Made my own build on mostly S. Magala items with the coil from the endboss for chaincrit and some gems for razor Sharp, the skill that gives boosts when on red HP Bar etc. So bloodlust, coalesence, resentment, razor Sharp, chaint crit, crit Element and the skill for red HP Bar xD Bloodlust is insane for dualswords

Thanks for these informations but you forgot something I think. We also can use the dodge withe the new switch skill for your sharpen like that if you don’t have wirebugs you can use the dodge 😉
2:58 My question for DB mains is; While in Archdemon Mode, and then you enter Demon Mode/Feral Demon Mode, Does Demon Mode/Feral Demon Mode stack with Archdemon Mode's elemantal/status boosts? I feel like it does stack together. [Demon Mode + Archdemon Mode = 55% Elemental & Status Boost] [Feral Demon Mode + Archdemon Mode = 20% Attack Boost + 20% Elemental & Status Boost]
I've been playing db using mostly comfort skills and the final bosses' dbs without any crit and was still able to get around 15min clears. It's not the most efficient way to play but I've got basically infinite stamina and are nigh unkillable. Great video! One question: 8:40 If you already maxed out on Critical Eye and WEX (which gives a total of 90% crit rate on weak points), would you really need Chain Crit? Or is Chain Crit only for extra raw attack damage at that point? I'm asking because otherwise you would be very limited to certain armor pieces.
I think the only reason areial was better dps is if you really knew how to use it. Where I feel as a ground dB main I'm almost never not hitting the monster with proper stamina and all that always preferred it xD Seen some crazy little glaive wannabes though haha
Astalos helm, chest and arms, squire belt and tobi boots After filling gems I have max Elem attack, stam surge, crit eye, CB, WEX, crit Elem, 3 con, 3 stun Res and 3 speed sharpen Maybe lose some con if a slightly worse talisman but hope this helps anyone
bro... what is feral demon mode? I just tried dual blades and now really want to learn it, but like... I can't figure out qhat that is and how to switch to it nor what it does
Tips for mediocre/new Dual Blades players: DON'T do what I did back then and ACTUALLY USE THE AERIAL MOVES. Alright, I get it, it's hard to use sometimes and Spiral slash has a 50/50 chance to either deal a butt load of damage or do dog water damage, but trust me, its worth it. ESPECIALLY when you're fighting really long monsters like Narwa The Allmother, because when you use demon flight, the longer the monster, the more damage you do. And plus, its how you get advantage over the full potential of what the Dual Blades can really do. Don't use Blade Dance when the monster is still standing. Unless the monster isn't moving cuz its exhausted, paralyzed, trapped, or knocked down, DON'T use Blade dance. 90% of the time, if you use Piercing Bind on a monster and rush in for the Blade Dance, the monster moves before you finish attacking and either makes you waste 5 seconds standing there with the long animation or it knocks you over possibly killing you.
Yo Hollow I know you said ELT is better then RAW on Dual blades. But what about status? I am currently using poison blades dou to the extra tick damage it dose while am avoiding getting hit. But could you give some advice on how to improve it?

Is chain crit better than attack 7? I'm currently running with attack 7, agitator 7, weakness exploit, and critical boost as my offensive skills.

7:40 , “downside is that you need multiple builds for each element.” All this means is you have more to do and more reason to play!
@@user-dm7ui6zx2u Also drastically slows down progression to keep building new weapons rather than just hunting.

I have a 3 crit eye, 2 slot talisman, which I know is pretty good, but even a crit eye 2 and 2 slot (or equivalent) is good, but my build is below
Astalos helm, chest and arms, squire belt and tobi boots
After filling gems I have max Elem attack, stam surge, crit eye, CB, WEX, crit Elem, 3 con, 3 stun Res and 3 speed sharpen
Maybe lose some con if a slightly worse talisman but hope this helps anyone
That's with a 2 slot weapon, might not be the absolute most optimal build but hope it helps people till the build video is released 😁
bro... what is feral demon mode?
How do you interrupt demon flight to come back down ?
Wait, if rage is Josh and it is Josh cotton hollow. Does that mean, and hear me out here, cotton is gaming and hollow is videos?
Yo Hollow I know you said ELT is better then RAW on Dual blades. But what about status? I am currently using poison blades dou to the extra tick damage it dose while am avoiding getting hit. But could you give some advice on how to improve it?
Status should behave like elemental
I managed to get my raw to 647 and yea, barely hitting those numbers
Hey ragegaming, can you please go over all the builds and if this message does find you, go down from best to worst that way more people will be given what they need
Its hard to find any builds cuz im on playstation and its all stuff we dont have 😭 like why didnt the game just come with all the updates 😭
I'm thinking of getting a switch lite and the game... anyone got any advice?
+35% element doesn’t even get a mention in the patch notes. WILD.
