The first computer i ever built myself had one of these Athlon X2 CPUs...was so excited back then cause it was able to run all games i wanted...now even with an SSD it runs pretty slow on Windows 10 and basic UA-cam videos. The Q9300 one is actually still pretty good even today,i have a Q9400 at work that runs Windows 10 and it's still fast and still able to take YT on high resolutions. Those are probably the oldest CPUs that are still usable today

I had a Q9300 in one of my former PC builds, that particular machine had an Asus P5Q-SE2 motherboard with 8GB of RAM and a Radeon HD 6770 in it. it served me well until I bought all new hardware in 2013. Also found the second board interesting. I still happen to have an Asus M4A78-E with an AMD FX 4100 in it. The best thing I can say about that machine is "well, it boots up". The Bulldozer series of chips really let these motherboards down, performance wise.
I had exactly same 6800GS few weeks ago, firstly it didn't work, then it magicaly started working with few artifacts which disapeared after few restarts, then it worked for few days totaly fine and then after another few days it was completly dead again, it was really mysterious GPU. 😀 I tried to heat gpu core and memories to resolder it, but it didn't work in this case, but I already resurrected few GPUs like that, for example my 6600GT still works after such "repair" 😀
the Rasurbo power supply at the end of the video is unfortunately absolute crap. Rasurbo belonged to a German distributor PNL. They had only a few usable power supply lines that had similar basses as Cougar A PSUs but the majority was crap.
Pretty good looking old hardware but I'm sure those old CD and DVD drives might be useful to someone (like me lol or someone else) though if they work...kinda need a DVD drive to replace a faulty one in one of my PCs lol One I'm interested in would be the DVD burner that has light scribe
i have the same blue power supply, i currently have it in my blue build. It was a bit annoying for me that it only has a blue mesh, I had to replace them myself!
I'd love to see a video with a motherboard that allows different CPU's, or have a daughter board upgrade to get a newer cpu generation. Also boards that support two different types of ram. Of course overclock and compare it all. Nice cap and trace fix on the geforce card.
Still my favorite retro site to watch, but I will say I really do miss the background music. Is there any way you could put that back in to your videos. I can't speak for everybody else, but I think it helps to make the viewing more enjoyable. Music please, "Let's Go For It" 😀
I was lazy :-) and using of music is very random, last videos mostly less. YT is preparing some big changes about music because ... of course ... another monetisation way. So it is possible 100% - no music in future because it starts to be anoying for me ... to keep eye about restrictions, rules etc.
have you ever watched my videos? i love to go to "trashmarket" of flee market - we call it "барахолка" and buy there some used hw for low prices, and then check at home - which of 'em are working at all. This is a fun quest every time. Also most of my retro vgas and mobos were bought there.
Sometimes I buy those things where sellers says "I don't really know what's that, maybe it works or maybe not" for very low price, in most of cases it doesn't work, but sometimes you can find something working and interesting like that.

Hi! I noticed that you said you recycle CD/DVD drives. Do you happen to have a dark grey CD or DVD drive that you don't need? It needs to be IDE and dark grey with the blue button. Ex HP DVD200i, HP 9200, HP 9600 etc. I need one for a very cool HP PA-RISC system i have and I only have a SCSI HP drive but the system takes IDE. Thanks!
Eh Athlon II x2 265 isn't a super quick cpu by any means but could be fun fsb overclocking with a better cpu cooler, 1866 mhz ddr3 ram & a bit better motherboard. (Around core 2 duo e8400 performance there being about 5% faster.) But stick in a phenom II x4 in there & a pair of 4 gb ddr3 ram sticks & a larger cpu cooler you got a decent midrange 2009 - 2010 build going that would actually still run windows 10 just fine. I'd recommend a build of atlas os if you can get a win 10 pro key online for like 20$ & want purely max performance for games with some modern security without the baggage that is windows 10 by default, with a cheap ssd you'd be surprised how well Atlas OS runs on a pc like that tbh. (Ofc for older games like monster truck madness 2, ignition you'd want too enable " directplay " in programs & feature support as with that disabled breaks like 20 years worth of games.)
@@kiararaine3636 meybe but low chance, Sata controler = south bridge(ICH) defect... like short circuit on usb/sata/lan/audio etc.. or SB is damaged. Ofc u have it ON in BIOS. Also normal p5k no have AHCI support.
Geforce 6800 GS wow:) this card is equal to Geforce 6800 GT. Or what is the difference? if you want to buy this card its still not cheap and its hard to find one...
6800GS should be something like 6800GT refresh remade to PCi express. 6800GT was AGP card. It got die shrink, so it was also made the way, so they can produce it cheaper, as it was later card. They disabled one shader block, so it got 12:5 configuration instead of 16:6. (pixel : vertex shaders). But thanks to less nanometres in core, it could go higher in frequencies, after overclocking it should be about the same, as 6800GT. Just cheaper to produce, so they could go down with a price little bit.
Why do you name this "trash?" I see a lot of nice HW from 2000s here, also i see nvidia 6800 for pci-e. Thos capacitors could be fixed easily. If i got those items i could repair damaged PCBs and then make a pc for resell using some of 'em or sell some items with profit. but i understand that may be in your country it's harder to sell that HW. But in ukraine people buy am2+, am3, 775 and 512mb dx10 cards for 12-20 $, depending on item
Because it was like trash. Lot of items are half-damaged (panel, GPU, PSU with bad caps). Yeah and some items I will repair, some not. :-) Yep depend on location what are you able to find or not.

@RETRO Hardware be aware abaut caps in p5k, i got similar mb and with quads worked ok just to 2,2ghz -.-, cap change helped.
Can caps on a P5K cause the SATA controller to not work?

This is question what is cripled here, if clocks or some shaders. This version is more common like Quadro.
