    the “d-c-v” on the Julianna is actually one of the most powerful aspects of it. It’s essentially a blend control that does from “dry” to “chorus” to full “vibrato”.
    Awesome video and keep rocking on in Jesus’ name. God bless, brother ❤️

      I was curious about that knob and their site says that it affects the wet/dry on the mono signal. Didn’t he say he runs stereo out of it? I wonder if that disables that knob?

      @ajlindseymusic  Рік тому

      Don’t let it overwhelm you! It’s more important to be a good guitarist rather than have gear so focus on that! For pedals, I would start with a compressor, overdrive, and delay then work your way up from there!

    Thank you for sharing your setup and explaining why you use each pedal followed by demonstration. I spent about 6 months just listening to different electric guitars and decided that I wanted a Gretsch 4 months ago (still saving up for mine). I’ve been leaning toward the Pod 6 Go as I’ve been researching pedal boards since it seemed to be compact, light-weight and everything that was needed for a nominal price. Now that you have demonstrated pedal by pedal, I will take some more time to think about whether I really want the compact, lighter weight option.

      If you are really interested in playing electric guitar, I would say get a pedalboard that has room to grow. That way you aren’t limited by the size of your board in the future. Have fun experimenting with pedals!

    Nice video and great job on the pedalboard. It definitely looks clean and like you put some real thought into it. For reference the DCV on the Juliana D- Dry C- Chorus V- Vibrato. When you’re using both inputs of the pedal and you turn the knob all the way to “dry” your signal will split into two (Dry and 100% Wet) this works great if you’re try to do a wet/dry set up. God bless.

    Dude such a practical video. I liked so many things you said. I have an OCD pedal I’ve used for maybe 10 years or less. They released a version 2 a few years ago but then they went out of business in 2021 or 2022.
    Also the Dunlop volume pedal was interesting. I think I might go check them out. I have a Ernie Ball volume pedal I’ve had for about 10 years as well. The string has never broke but it has a small window for volume, so doing swells has always been challenging.
    Lastly regarding the amps, I have a Marshall clone that sounds amazing. I prefer the sound of a tube amp over digital but most Churches don’t want an amp on stage and want you to plug directly into the sound board. A lot of people use Kemper or Line 6 digital pedal boards for example and both sound really good. Personally I have been looking at amp and cab modulars. I have been looking at three: Strymon Iridium, Nux Amp Academy, and Universal Audio Dream ‘65 Reverb Amplifier. The Strymon is the oldest and most recommended from what I have seen, and I think I might get it for my board.
    Sorry for the long comment but I really appreciate the in depth video you made. Hearing other guitar players speak about gear is really helpful. Also the white board is a really cool idea. Thank you for making the video.

    The dd-500 was fine for me, but I could never dial in a good sound with the rv-500. So good job with that! Other issue was, if they were on for a long period of time like 4 hours or so, they stopped working. Which happened a couple times right before an event. Had to unplug, wait overnight and they worked again. So I went to the Strymons. Good sounding board though

    As a fellow DD-500 + RV-500 user, here's a huge tip I recommend:
    You can run a CTRL switch (Saturnworks sells them for a fair price) into your DD-500, and then run your DD-500's MIDI out into your RV-500's MIDI in. Now you have the ability to cycle through patches on both your RV-500 and DD-500 with one click!
    I use this live by keeping both pedals on the entire set, but whenever there's a section of a song I don't want to have reverb / delay on, I just set the patch's effect levels to be at 0!
    Also, there's a program on your computer that lets you edit your 500 series pedals settings, and when it comes to building out a set, this made it so much easier (i.e. my "dry patches" I can just copy and paste where needed)

    • @ajlindseymusic
      @ajlindseymusic  Рік тому +1

      That’s a great idea! I just need to find room for another switch on my board…

    • @davmakesmusic
      @davmakesmusic Рік тому +1

      @@ajlindseymusic The switches are super duper small! You could most likely fit one between your RV-500 & Iridium and still have room for the marker! (or you could stick your marker to the underside of your board since you'll likely not need it mid set!)

  • @LeviBulger
    @LeviBulger Рік тому +1

    I don't think most people would call a morning glory a clean boost Sure you can use it that way, but you can use basically any pedal with a volume pot as such. It's a bluesbreaker clone, which is definitely an overdrive and most people would almost certainly use it with some hair on the drive pedal. Otherwise, it's a 200 dollar volume pot lol. A morning glorified if you will.

  • @EarleMonroe

    Not meaning to be pedantic, but those options for the switch on the chorus are sine wave, sawtooth or triangle wave, and random. It’s basically how smoothly it modulates the sound

    That’s a great board, luv the white board. Not seeing strymon is cool too…. Very unique! But why didn’t you talk about your direct box? Is it essential for gigs? Can any speaker function as a monitor?

    • @ajlindseymusic
      @ajlindseymusic  Рік тому +1

      Good question. I don't own any DI boxes and the places I go usually provide them so I didn't think to talk about it. When playing live, I run stereo out of my Iridium into either a stereo DI box or 2 separate ones for left and right. If you skip to 29:50 in the video, you can see the stereo DI box I use at church with "ELEC 2" written on it.
      When I am at home, the Iridium has a headphone jack that I can use when I am rehearsing. Alternatively, I can plug the left and right outputs (1/4") directly into 2 powered studio monitors if I want the sounds to come out of speakers. OR I can run the Iridium in Mono and just use 1 speaker.
      To record, I plug a stereo headphone cable from the Iridium into the first two inputs of my audio interface and pan them left and right in the DAW.
      Hope this helps!

  • @larrybethune3909
    @larrybethune3909 Рік тому

    For enquiring minds, chorus, phase and flanging are different versions of the same property of sound waves. It's called cancellation and reinforcement (kinda like rouge waves in the ocean). In all 3 effects, a copy of the original input is made, delayed by 7 to say 150 milliseconds and mixed back in. If left alone this would essentially be ADT. But Noooooo, some smart ass had to put the copy through an LFO that changes the delay time. This movement in the delay time the frequencies that are being canceled or reinforced to change and give you the classic swirl.
    Dead simple really! #sarcasm Only because I've worked in electrical engineering for a bit do I know this and use it in creating tones.

    • @ajlindseymusic
      @ajlindseymusic  Рік тому

      Every pedal that is in your chain will add some noise, even if it’s a small amount. So, I prefer for my tuner to be out of my signal chain. That is why I have it splitting off of my volume pedal. The signal that goes to my tuner does not go to my amp (the Iridium). If I need to use the tuner, I turn off my octave pedal and overdrives so that the tuner is not influenced by them. Hope this helps!

    To build this board from scratch today would cost £2500. It's not as cheap as you imply at 1:15.

    • @ajlindseymusic
      @ajlindseymusic  Рік тому

      That’s a good point. It felt cheaper because I slowly bought these pedals over 8 years. Some of them were used and some were gifted to me not functional and I got them fixed (i.e. the Morning Glory). It could also be a lot more expensive if I had bought other pedals. But you are right, a board like this is definitely an investment!

    Do you run your delay and reverb before or after your iridium? I run mine before because of the “room” knob not sounding great into delay and reverb, so I basically treat it like an amp. But a lot of players do the opposite.

    • @ajlindseymusic
      @ajlindseymusic  Рік тому +2

      If I could run the volume pedal, chorus, delay, and reverb after the Iridium, I would. BUT then I wouldn't be able to use the headphone jack on the Iridium when I am rehearsing at home; I would only hear the pedals that are before the Iridium, not the wet effects. Because of that, the Iridium is at the end of my signal chain and I treat it like an amp.
      I am planning to make a video that goes more in depth about how and why I use the Iridium so hopefully that can help clear things up!

    • @ajlindseymusic

      @JRCHO Рік тому +2

    • @nathaniellarson8
      @nathaniellarson8 Рік тому +1

      You have to try them all out in different orders to see what you like, but ideally you would have your transparent overdrive last in your OD chain and you would put a mid-focused drive before that and a boost before that. The idea is your last gain pedal in the chain is your first stage and you work your way back in stages that push into the pedal that is next down the line. Each pedal is like a filter, the last ones in the chain are going to have the most effect on what the final sound is like. I have my Wampler Pantheon last in my drive chain and my Keely D&M Drive before that with the switch set so the boost side is first in the chain to push the two overdrives after it.

    • @ajlindseymusic
      @ajlindseymusic  Рік тому

      @nathaniellarson8 Рік тому

      @@ajlindseymusic some people will have their boost after drives if they want the same sound out of the drive, just louder, it's all personal preference and what works for you. To be honest, if I had a switcher I would likely just set up the drives to stand alone and then maybe run the boost into them at times to get more compression.

    • @ajlindseymusic
      @ajlindseymusic  Рік тому +4

      Good question! The Bible says that believers in Christ should worship God in all that we do and one way to do that is through music. Every church is different but the ones I have gone to typically have a band that leads everyone in some songs about God or to God. Not as a performance but rather a chance for people to gather and sing together. Since I play guitar primarily at my church, I built my board to try to match the sounds in popular songs that we sing. For example, here is a livestream from the Christmas Eve service at my church: ua-cam.com/video/4g2UnllcdDw/v-deo.html Hope this helps! I'm happy to answer any more questions you may have. :)

      As an American far from Texas, and not a very religious one, I'm not aware this is peculiar to Texas at all. Maybe Texas is different somehow, but the idea of church musicians is very ordinary. There's a demand for music in churches, and... supply is there for demand. There's nothing extraordinary about it. As far as musicians in general, there are all manner of videos out there about church or worship type music.
