did that resistor come with the LED? if not what value did you use so it can operate at 13.8v (12VDC) system's. thanks can't find much on info on UA-cam.
+nevadasparky79 Yes it came with the LED, you can do a conversion based on the voltage of the LED and the 13.8v(12v) car system, to determine the ohm value required. But yes, this led came with a resistor pre-installed, it was an LED for the heater control lights, which were few with 12v of power
+Car Guy Pat thanks for the info. I know the method to determine the correct resistance. I'd just like to buy rhem already set up and ready to go. thanks for getting back to me! I appreciate it.
I test my swr with a meter similar to that one. but its a midland swr meter. I am pretty sure when you use the SWR meter the radio signal leaks from the meter some. So you may loose some signal. That is why they are not to be used permanently. I know mine cuts back on the receive so I cannot hear people far away. Just some food for thought.
I agree with you. I did not notice any signal decreases, and since I don't use the radio very much, only when with friends, I thought it would be okay to leave installed. The LED is cool to have when the ignition is on. However I have since removed it in favor of a 2-meter ham radio in the same spot. Both of which do not have inline SWR meters now
I like your video, this is my intention too add a light in the swr meter. The reason i wanted this meter is reasonable priced and accurate mine came with a jumper cable cheap but usable. Another reason was able to use as a permanent in line meter . The Workmen Model #SWR-2T is made too be used as a permanent in line meter without any measurable loss.
Your radio has it built in, why put one extra?
SWR meters are for setup not permanent?
Does anyone still use CBs?
not necessarily - SWR meters can stay hooked up.
Superglue near clear plastic made me cringe.
The fumes alone will turn clear plastic milk white
You live and learn. Won't be doing that again.
Where did you get the cb mount enclosure? ?
It was custom cut out of the factory enclosure. A tape deck used to be housed there from the factory.
