The term of bite the bullet came from this era. When a soldier was so wounded that surgery OR amputation had to be done, there was nothing to knock them out. SO, they were given a bullet to bite down on and get thru the pain. THAT could very well have been one of those bullets. GREAT find.

Wow! What great finds and so many of them. Such a wonderful way to spend the day. Really enjoyed seeing all the wildlife as well. Looking forward to your next video. Keep safe. ❤️🇨🇦
While I enjoyed seeing the wildlife and you finding the bullets, I am amazed that you found the rat tail pewter spoon. That’s a spectacular relic. Congratulations ! Well done. Thank you for sharing and I’m looking forward to more of your adventures.
Great finds! And yes, animals will chew on lead. Back in the day, before people knew lead was harmful, water and sewer pipes were made of lead and rats would chew them up!
The hunt and the wild life makes for an amazing day I always with all your relics and civil war bullets how many actually found there target lot of blood shed Well Done Michael
Awesome I can't wait to get back to metal detecting have to take a break though as I've been diagnosed with myocarditis and pericarditis which they previously thought was a heart attack thank goodness it wasn't was shocked to hear that it might have been one but then got transferred to the big hospital and got it all sorted out and got transferred back to home hospital during hurricane fiona in an ambulance and spent a couple days in icu and went home probably wait a month before metal detecting going to take 3 months before I can do everything I used to do, I always enjoy your videos! Thank you for making them!
Great finds Nug! I would bet the upper banks of that area are loaded with relics!! I saw in some of the comments about the chewed up bullets. Granted, the term "bite the bullet" might have came from wartime situations, but the human jaw muscles, and teeth are not strong enough to chew lead. The chewed bullets were no doubt dug up from a feral hog rooting around and they chewed them up.
I would absolutely love to go civil war relic hunting with you I've never been but finding old stuff from that time period is absolutely awesome keep up the great relic hunting videos
0:28 AquaChigger did a video where he found chewed bullets. said it is impossible for a human to make teeth marks on a lead.bullet. Most likely hogs and small animals make those marks.
Nugget, you must research and find out which skirmish happened here so you can categorize your finds for your collection. Great video with tons of Civil War finds. Very cool indeed! ☺️ The Chigg will be so jealous. 😜
Awesome finds, nugget! Question, do you think you could do an episode where you put up the value of each find? I'm always curious what some finds are worth. Thanks for the great content!
1st. Nugget i love youre videos. You were my inspiration to start metaldetecting over five years ago. It's been a fun joirney with you alomg the years. God bless and happy hunting
Amazing Finds I Found A Big Horse Shoe It Was Round I Think It Was A Working Horse. Then I Found A Tiny Horseshoe I Think It Was From A Shetland Pony Out My Backdoor Weird Stuff I Have Found .Great Video ❤ From Scotland
Maybe the chewed bullet was used for something to bite on when the medical supplies run out and a soldier with an infected wound on a leg or arm and with nothing to put them under they would cut off the infected areas. That spoon is awesome!
It’s good that you didn’t touch the caterpillar, we have some here in FL called puss caterpillars, they have rather long brown hairs and they will sting the living mud out of you! I’ve heard it’s very painful. Good finds! ✌🏼❤️
Ha good to see you out and about Finding more good stuff I went to the playground when i saw They were re do it and i found some really old Hot wells one of them was worth nindy dollars I just keep it Great 👍 video bro Fireman 🔥🔥🔥

The bullet was most likely chewed by a human that's where the Phrase "bite the bullet" comes from back when there was no anesthesia when they did surgery they'd have them bite down on a bullet... pretty neat

@@nuggetnoggin, that would be awesome!!! Thank you!!
The items only have value to the finder. If you metal detect to think your going to find valuable stuff you'll end up work for $1 per hour.
@@donaldmorse3580it is the thrill of the find, but a lot of stuff Nugget has found and many have detected ....can be worth a small fortune!
