I love the guy in chat that said "yea flashbang an enemy with no eyes, good call" which was funny until you remember that flashbangs also produce a deafening sound.....which Lickers are super sensitive too, you dingus.

It’s called a flash BANG, not a flash
U can just walk right by lickers if u go slow and don't fire your weapons. I've walked right by all of them on hardcore mode. They may sound like they are going to attack but I think that mechanic is in place to scare u into running so they will hear u and attack. Trust me I've tested this multiple times. U can save yourself lots of ammo which is better utilized during boss encounters.

JJ was so sweet to decide not to scare Max at that time. Being a gamer herself, she knew Max would've gotten a game over right there and she contained herself. That's true love.
Almost 6 years later and this is still one of my favorite playthroughs to watch, and game to play. 💪🏽

I love that Leon reacts to his Environment. I was watching a different No Comm Walkthrough of RE2R and the first time the player missed a shot and Leon said "Goddammit!" I didn't even know who it was! It was so great seeing him react and it's a great eye for detail.

just started...think this will be my 3rd time...
I love how they took so much time detailing the side characters rather than just having them one offs. Not only that the dialog is way different with Marvin depending on who you're playing as. They could have easily repurposed the same lines he gave to Leon for Claire but they chose to make them different which is just awesome.
Yeah, he's a lot more calm and reassuring with Claire, knowing she's just a civilian in this mess; while he is authoritative with Leon, since Leon is a cop. It's subtle, but really excellent character work.

@Floofie kun hardcore is basically regular classic RE difficulty dont see the hard part honestly ink ribbon and low ammo were a part of regular RE series until mechanics in newer games changed and they started giving more things to the players but they were like that on hat was supposed to be regular difficulty, even the RE remastered of the first game show the same time of gameplay
@Floofie kun considering fps, level of control over the model of the player and speed of animations, in is practicly the same amount of difficulty since in older games it was harder(by miliseconds which in those terms is a lot actually) to dodge zombie attacks therefore it was necesarry that you werent one shoted in older games with an inmidiate danger status so its basically the same level of challenge just updated to new times
@Floofie kun I never had that problem a well, but ability adapt to challenge, games were made more easy ability jut gets adapted old mechanics seem harder now, its the equivalent to get a little rusty

As someone who's played (probably every) RE and completed RE 2 he has a slight excuse because Lickers were never that durable in other RE games, except maybe RE5 because on pro they take like 3-4 500 mag shots. But in no other game were they this dangerous.
But on the other hand, he should know if he's quiet he should be fine, so I don't know why he would risk it.
That was exactly my questioning lol. But I was thinking he wanted to see what damage the revamped Lickers could do. Otherwise I have absolutely no idea why he shot at it when it wasn't trying to attack him 😂
@@CommanderHarataIdaku At best, he should have ran towards the Lounge, get grab, use the flashbang defense mechanic, then run towards the door.
@@danskyl7279 Except running is the last thing you want to do around lickers. Walk up to them and slash them with a knife from either side, not the front or back. It stun locks them and hits 3 times per slash, killing them in 4-5 slashes.

Been playing this on hardcore mode on first playthrough with Leon, and it's been pushing me to my limits (especially with Tyrant hot on my heels). I would have picked normal, but then you miss out on the classic ink ribbon/typewriter saves. That's how they getcha'.
Collin McAdams Yeah!! I thought the same, "I want to do it the classic way with ink ribbons"! I mean, auto save is not what I think of when I think RE! It took me about a month to finish one scenario on hardcore, hehe. Loved it! But damn I hate the sewers so much...
Collin McAdams I chose hardcore on my first run and I’m sooo glad I did. It was the best gaming experience I had in years.

Max doesn't have a "fight or flight" response so much as he has a "fight or run-directly-into-danger-for-no-reason-while-playing-on-Hard". It's fascinating to watch.
Finished Leon's campaign tonight on hardcore, man.. the start at the police station until the sewer is pure hell! so pleasing to see Max making the same mistakes I did on the first run!
I got a good chuckle out of how Max immediately had to empty his entire clip into the first Zombie.

Just seeing how much you enjoy this game is a sight to behold :) my style of play is very similar to yours in that on top of being very thorough in each new room, I also stop and smell the roses and appreciate all the little details Capcom has lovingly packed in this game.
It's definitely a nice break from giant open world games. The level design is so amazing, it makes backtracking a positive experience! Add in the story / music / sounds / ambience and this game has everything firing on all cylinders! An instant classic, and probably a new standard for how remakes of classic games should be done!
Hi there! Absolutely man. Capcom RE team knocked it out of the park with this remake. I still can´t belive I´m palying my favourite Resident Evil game completely redone, feeling like it is a brand new game (coming from a guy that played the original for 6 times) and with so much details. Kudos to the devoloping team and kudos to Max for being a cool dood and a fan of the franchise. Cheers and happy gaming to us all.
He's not thorough at all though. He routinely skips half of the room (doesn't even look in all directions) and ignores/misses interaction prompts. Doesn't read all notes. Confused where he's at and doesn't look at the map. I don't mean to go on a rant but I'm pretty frustrated :D He's missing so much. I keep watching for the reactions anyway :)
I love max’s playthroughs because 1. He is entertaining obviously and 2. He actually takes his time with the games and doesn’t just rush through. He plays games like i play games.

Not for nothing but, this is probably the most satisfying playthrough of Resident Evil 2 Remake, an RE fan can ask for - I feel like most streamers, over-react, are immature and/or have no idea about the history of RE. Thank you for this highly rewatchable playthrough. Though I wish you appreciated RE3R a little more, cause I feel like there are two types of RE games and 3 types of fans. But still a very good playthrough of RE2R.

It's kind of weird to me how Max's first thoughts when being full up on item space in a game that wants you to conserve as much as you can is not to go store some stuff in the magical teleportation boxes the series is known for but to waste ammo and defensive items.
Also that he's completely fine throwing away ammo and defensive items to make space but when the game blatantly tells him that you can chuck an item away without consequence he gets super worried about throwing it away.
This is soooo tense to watch. Max is so insane going straight into hardcore. I did hardcore up until the first licker after never playing resident evil 2 except for the ps1 demo. Huber said play standard so after 1 playthrough I felt more confident to do hardcore. Credit to Max for going straight into hardcore and not reloading after every time he got bit. I honestly don't know how max will survive this playthrough after burning through so much stuff.
Sweet, at least half of my workday will be entertaining now.
And here I am, once again, watching this playthrough for the tenth time LOL Never gets old
Max is the only one i trust to make competent gameplay and commentary when it comes to RE games tbh cause i can really tell he's a fan of the series and actually knows shit and details. Always a fan of these full playthroughs. Gj

@@Dan-Ky-Kang Yeah, but people showing so much interest in these classic style RE games only serves to motivate Capcom to keep going in this direction.
Plus, the effort they put into this game is so great that you can't deny they really tried to make something special out of it. Just like the original REmake, they're taking a game that was already brilliant and injecting new life into it.
All in all, I for one am quite pleased with where the RE series is right now. And I l'm excited to see where it goes next!

@@hopoutattheafterparty6245 Oh yeah, no, a true 1-1 remake like REmake 1 would've been spectacular. But at the same time, it probably only would've sold decently amongst the more hardcore fans of RE.
By changing the game to a 3rd or 1st person perspective, it makes the game a whole lot more accessable.
The game's gotten a lot of mainstream attention and has broad appeal, as it is. But this game goes to show that you can have classic RE survival horror and people will buy it and play it.
Tl:dr I'm willing to accept the more common perspective for the sake of accessability as long ad the gameplay holds up, which it does in my opinion

Was given this game as a gift, never been a big fan of Resident Evil. Only really played re4 on GameCube but that's it. But once this came out, can't lie, I got a bit hyped. Now here I am on my day off, game has been waiting on me for 4 days but all I wanna do now is watch Max play this for 4 hours.

I wonder how the "Leon meeting Claire" cutscene would go if you used all your ammo in the store? How would he have killed that zombie behind her then? Which made me think: how cool would it be if this game (and others) had conditional cutscenes? Meaning if you were out of ammo, something else would happen? Sometimes it would lead to the same general goal, other times it wouldn't and maybe force you to go through an additional obstacle before the story progressed as it would/should? For example: if you used all your ammo in that scene, he'd pull the trigger, it'd click empty, and Claire would duck & spin around to dome the zombie herself?
I'm sure some games already do stuff like or kind of like that, but it'd just be cool if this game had a bit of that as well.

@@youngchristopher14 A lot of the problem is that streamers are in the mindset that if they stop to actually read files and notes in games that it will not be entertaining for the viewers, so they skim them super fast and just run right in with nary a thought
This was excruciating! He refused to look at the last desks and spent so much time trying to brute force the locks when he could've solved the puzzle normally in fifteen seconds.
