I would love to see a Q&A between you and your mom - her favorite books, current reads, reading life, etc. Also - do you have a link to your kindle case? It’s so pretty!
I'm hoping to get a video with my mom very soon! As for my Kindle case...it's pretty old. I have a 7th generation Kindle. This is a link to the brand I have but it doesn't look like the exact case I have is still available: amzn.to/4dAjpRn
I enjoyed part 2 as much as first - I also like to use a bookmark that suits my book of the moment. Bookmarks are wonderful little souvenirs from travels.
One of my fave authors in the “books about books” category is Jane Mount. Her books make excellent gifts but you’ll want to keep them for yourself!😀I love her illustrations that accompany the text. Here’s her blurb: Jane Mount is an illustrator, designer, writer, and maker of things -- particularly things for people who love books. She is the creator of Ideal Bookshelf (an online shop where she makes things for bibliophiles); the author and illustrator of Books Make Good Friends (Chronicle Books, 2023), and Bibliophile: An Illustrated Miscellany (Chronicle Books, 2018); and the illustrator and co-author (with Jamise Harper) of Bibliophile: Diverse Spines (Chronicle Books, 2021) and My Ideal Bookshelf (Little, Brown, 2012). She lives in a log cabin on Maui with her husband, three weird cats, and a speckled dog.
Hi Jen, I surely enjoyed this! I have and love the book Home Comforts too. I don’t really use it for help, I just enjoy reading things like that. I recognized the first line of I Capture the Castle! Yea! And I would love to live in Wandleberry and live next to Barbara Buncle! And I would love you to do videos with your Mom. Just discussing books in general or a special book.😊😊😊😊😊
For a Wedding book"Their's Was The Kingdom" has a beautiful old fashioned cover. Never read it, don't know the author. My fave Jane Austen is also Sense And Sensibility. My fictional neighborhood/home would be Orchard House in Concord, Mass. I miss my New England terribly. (I grew up in Lexington). One neighbor would be Robert Frost the other would be Anne Shirley. Shame on YOU, JENN for dog-earring a page instead of using a bookmark!!! I have a collection also..I remember when I had my first REAL job after graduation. I took my Mom and myself to a Hallmark store and bought a really nice bookmark w/ my first paycheck. She thought it so wasteful and told me I could use a ripped piece of newspaper instead! No way, for my books! Sometimes I make my own. This was fun, thanks.🤗
I also match my bookmarks to match the mood of a book or the cover. I would highly recommend Lucy Worsley's Agatha Christie biography. I would be neat to hear how your mom had a love of reading and what's her story of reading books, how did she find her books? And how did she read to you as a child?
I read Lucy Worsley's Agatha Christie biography last year and really enjoyed it! And thanks for the questions for my mom. I will be sure to ask her those when I get her in a video!
I liked the question about fave opening lines and fave closing lines. My fave closing sentence comes from "The Clockmaker's Daughter" by Kate Morton. - "I am the stars in the dark when you find yourself alone." 🌠
Very enjoyable video! Great to hear you mention Deborah Crombie. The Kincaid/James series is so good and I almost never hear it mentioned on Booktube. Did you ever read any of Martha Grimes’ Richard Jury series? Also, since you love Mary Stewart, did you ever read Phyllis A. Whitney or Victoria Holt? Loved those books when I was younger.
I haven't read Martha Grimes but I've had The Old Fox Deceiv'd on my Kindle forever! I need to read it. And I may have read Whitney and Holt but it was a LONG time ago!
Another great video, Jen. Have you read the Aunt Dimity series? I find I cannot read about murders anymore, even if they happen off stage, so to speak. But I like the general idea of a mystery, trying to figure things out. That's where the Aunt Dimity series came in for me. I just wish there were more non-murder mystery series out there. And the series is set in a very cozy English village.
I have read Aunt Dimity! In fact I have 2 Aunt Dimity books on my shelves I need to read still. I'll have to see if I can think of some non-murder mysteries for you. I understand that even murders off the page can be upsetting.
Wonderful Q&A Part 2 video. You are lucky to have Susan Branch's books signed and got to meet her. I am currently enjoying a book by Susan Branch, Summer. Can't wait to see a video with your mother. 🙂
I meant to add that I feel much the same about my Kindle (e/reader), I only purchased it last year but I was never someone that would read more than one book at a time... since buying my Kindle I will have a book with a different genre going on that. Agree that I don't tend to soak in as much as when I physically read a book - so I tend to read lighter books on it. I feel like I scan it more than really soak in the words?
2 books about books I've read after a youtube c hannel recommended are by susan hill. she was a bit hard to take sometimes but overall I learned about books i'd never heard of and I have to say i admire a woman with a strong opinion LOL! howard's end is on the landing and jacob's room is full of books
She is definitely opinionated (and a bit of a name dropper)! I don't love everything about her but I love all the books she talks about and both of those books have definitely added to my TBR (and also made me decide NOT to read a few of the books she mentioned which I think goes to show how good she is at describing books!).
Hi Jen -- I have two 'book about books' that I wanted to recommend, that were gifted to me, not sure if you've heard of them. "Dedicated to...the forgotten friendships, hidden stories and lost loves found in second-hand books" compiled by WB Gooderham. As well as "The Heroine's Bookshelf - Life Lessons from Jane Austen to Laura Ingalls Wilder". I will definitely be on the look out for 'Book Lust' that sounds like one I'd like to have on my shelves. A video with your Mum would be well received by us out here! having lost mine a couple years ago - I really miss that interaction. ( I too love when Donna joins Miranda 😊) have a great weekend! Jacqueline
❤📚📚❤️ Great video, thank you for sharing! I wish my husband liked to read ...nope😅. I'm reading The Dry right now, my first Jane Harper book, and I'm loving it!! The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adam's was good. Edit: Would love to meet your Mom and hear her favorite books and all bookish things. 😊😊
I'd love to hear about your mom's favorite books 🙂
I'd enjoy that, too. And maybe a peek at your mom's bookshelves.
@@MJ-in-Canada~ great suggestion
@@susanmay4215 😀
I’m hoping to get a video with her soon!
One idea for you and your mom would be to recommend books for the fall or holidays.
Oh, that's a great idea!!! Thank you!

Thanks for another great video! Also thanks for listing books mentioned in the description. I was listening while driving so that helps a lot ☺
You're so welcome! Thank you for watching! 😁
Jen, I can’t thank you enough for answering my question about wedding books. You and your readers have given me great ideas! Karin
You’re welcome! And I’m so glad! 😊❤️
Thanks so much for all the a swears to our nosey questions😂😂 I'd love to see you and mum do read ofabook a review. Thanks for the consideration
I'm happy to answer all the nosey questions! Hoping to get my mom in a video soon!
I enjoyed part 2 as much as first - I also like to use a bookmark that suits my book of the moment. Bookmarks are wonderful little souvenirs from travels.
Bookmarks do make excellent souvenirs...and gifts as well!
I use the Libby app more than my Kindle, mostly because I can check out ebooks from my state's largest library system.
I use Libby mostly for audiobooks but occasionally for ebooks too. It’s a wonderful resource!
I’m also a fan of a good bookmark. I cherish a few from a family artist as well! They do make wonderful gifts! ❤
Yes they do! 😊🩷
Your dad’s bookmarks are beautiful!
I’m also glad I’m not the only one who gets behind on their Goodreads reviews
Thank you - he was a gifted artist! I'm so far behind on Goodreads reviews right now it's not even funny! I need to set aside a day to catch up!

I agree about reading Home comforts for pure joy!
I'd love to hear about the books on your kindle! Another "book list book" you might want to read is Honey for a Woman's Heart by Gladys Hunt.
And Honey for a Teen’s Heart and Honey for a Child’s Heart!
Thank you for the recommendation! And I will definitely be doing a video about my kindle books.
I am the same way with my bookmark "matching" the book I'm reading 📚
I’m glad I’m not alone in this! 😁

Glad to hear you record just using an iPhone and use Canva that’s all I do too!
I’d love to see you and your mum discuss books together ❤

That is great last line! I forgot about that one.
was Father of the Bride a book? I remember the movie remake but seems like it was a book first
That's a good question! I don't know but I'm going to look it up!
Have you read the Dear Mrs. Bird series by A.J. Pearce? They seem right up your alley.💕📚
Yes! I've read all three books so far. I love the first one the most and have read it twice!

Yes! I think that's exactly it. I scan rather than soak in the words on the Kindle. That's an excellent way to put it!
