Just got this problem on my AVX, since I upgraded the firmware, and it turns to happen when I connect the cable rj-to usb PC, when I don't seems to work ok, hadn't had chance to test more, did you solved the problem at the end? I might try resetting to factory and see

Hi, my issue just came during a night of imaging. Thought I might have fried my MCU board, but as tested in the video, that wasn't it. Got some sensor boards to test, but I haven't got to it yet.
As soon as I do, I'll get the results out.
Let me know how you're doing!

@@astroboden so far, my problem is caused for a wrong firmware flashed, or corrupted, I don't know, the thing now, it turns when I switch on, it detects correctly my mount and works fine, then the next time detects Advanced CG with a Nextstar mount with GPS, so obviously it doesn't detect properly the motors mount, so that happens 1 avx 1 agt every time y turn on the mount. You should check on your mount when doesn't detect the motors, whatbis loading the hand control, under Menu/Utility/version if I'm not wrong. Check is loading the correct mount.

Just got this problem last night. This mount has been frustrating not too long after I bought it many years ago (Cgem DX). I already replaced both motors twice. They would give me really crazy actions, even when not housed in the mount and using just a battery. Probably should have replaced the board as well back then but it is much more expensive than the motors. As for the response 17 error, had that once on my old cg5 mount. Replacing the hand controller on that did the trick but does not seem to be the case with this problem. Back then it was pretty much frozen on the error, this new error you can perform functions but just no connection to the mount. Definitely looking to get rid of this mount once and for all.

Hi, sad to hear your having the same, or similar issues. Using the mount base has been my best and most enjoyable use of it so far ;)
Got some sensor boards I might give it a stab at if time allows.
      Clear skies… and working equipment!

Set everything up this evening and my mount started doing this😩

That sucks. Sad to hear. I noticed on my CGEM that a poor power supply can also cause that. I did check that in the CGX case, but with the CGEM a better power connection and supply scared it off. Give that a try if you can. @@chrisbradshaw5882

Havnt looked through the whole video yet but i think the HC should say CGX not Advance-gt. I think i saw that you changed MCU as well without any luck? So, my guess is that you have uploaded the wrong firmware, probably the alt-az version. Very common mistake that people do when trying to upgrade, Celestron software is pretty bad so dont feel bad about it if you did :D I think that the wrong driver can cause crazy slews etc. I think you should try upload new drivers for HC and Motors if you can still access bootloader. ****Make sure to manually select Equatorial!**** Sry if i jumped the gun a bit, will continue the video now :D

      Hi Mate!
Excellent comment! It was so long ago I forgot since there was no video of it. Good of you to point out to make the selection of Alt/Az and Equatorial as well.
I did select this, I’m sure, but very fair point. As the CFM comes it does not prompt you on start up, and is preselected to Alt/Az. Don’t know what happens if you miss it.
I did indeed run the CFM on the MCU and the HC which both connected and updated.
The fact that it worked with the CFM would highlight other fault, but the hot circuitry made me worried. Might still be burned ports on the controller that will not interfere with the communication. If I get the mount in order with the new sensor PCB’s I might test with the old MCU. But something is breaking something, so we’ll see.
Anyway, I did not do the update on the MCU I just got. I just did and it changed nothing.
I couldn’t check the FW version however, so I don’t know if anything changed at all.
      To be continued...

And nowadays they are asking 6000 euros for this peace of crab.

Insane, right? I do love their EdgeHD 800 so far though. Hope they don’t fiddle with the QC on that business. But no prices are in proportion nowadays.

Sounds like typical rubbish Celestron electronics to me, I've got the older CGE pro which used to be their flagship mount in the day & new cost 5K, these mounts were always having electronic failures as did the CGE it replaced. Mechanically mine isn't to bad put together I think it's probably been tuned at some stage in its life so I just bought an Onstep kit for it & it functions very well plus spares are really cheap to & not an over inflated price that Celestron charge if you're lucky enough to find any. Fortunately I never paid anything for it so the $600 for the kit was well worth it.

Hi, I do have an older CGEM that was hypertuned by the previous owner. It just needed some TLC, and I can in hindsight say that I should have loved that one more.
I got my spare parts from Deep Space Products and while they have access to most of the spares, the parts are super expensive and the lead times are crazy. I ordered some sensor boards in mid-November that I’m still waiting for.
The onestep kit sounds like a very good idea! There is a whole thing on my channel about my CGX experience, but short version is that I think they made some short cuts and possibly skipped some QC. The build looks nice and solid mechanically, but I’m not impressed by how it was delivered.
The good thing is that it got me into building my own mount which I enjoy, so kudos to them I suppose ;P
