Yes, it is more open because it has so many more ports again now. They managed to make it fit even better than the older ones, and I have been very impressed by it. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the detailed & concise vid, I was hoping i-Blason would come out with an updated case (I think I bought the last ones in the country at one point for our fleet) but it looks like this is the most rubbery one on the market for the newest generation Macs. I've ordered one to test. Not sure about the flappy bit though!
You really don't notice the flappy bit as it is on the back. Excellent case, I am still using it and feel protected when using it. Thanks for watching.

Hi Paul, regarding the case clips, is it made of Rubber or other soft material? I've been eyeing this case for a while but i have concern about the clips making a dent/scratch to the laptop surface. Also is the case easy to remove? I plan to remove the case and clean the laptop and the case every two weeks or so. thanks!
The case is made from the same material as the phone cases by UAG, so it is neither hard or soft but somewhere in-between. It clips onto the laptop without the usual snapping sound you get with cheap cases, and once on it grips to the laptop very well. It is not difficult to take off, but doesn't come off when handling it. I am still using it on my MacBook Pro and I don't see me changing it anytime soon. It is not cheap, but worth every penny in my opinion. Thanks for watching and I hope this helps answer your question.
@@Paullebbon Hi Paul, thanks for the prompt reply, this is very helpful. I guess the only remaining downside that I need to consider is that it weighs 700 gr, pretty heavy in my opinion. Anyway best of luck to your channel!
I thought so as well, but coming from a crystal skin weighing just 80g, I didn't even notice a weight difference! I just noticed a feeling of strength and it felt reasuring in my hand. Thank you for your kind words and good luck with your choice.
Hi ,thanks for doing this video! I am wanting to purchase this case also, but am wondering have you noticed any damage to MacBook Pro either when installing or removing case? Overall would you still recommend it? I have read a few reviews, whereby customers mentioned sharp edges which are apparent when typing. against wrists. is this something you have encountered?
Hi. Rest assured there are no hard edges that could harm the MacBook or give any personal injury. The clear is a hard, yet flexable materiel. The black reminds me of car windscreen rubber, it is soft yet hard enough to grip around the MacBook edges firmly. I hope this helps and thanks for watching.
@@Paullebbon thanks so much for your response and for clearing that up? It looks like a good case and so I thought I’d query it first, as I see no sign of what reviewers have mentioned in your video! I guess I am sold! Plus I don’t really see anything else that offers this level of protection and I already use their iPhone case which has proven to be great too.
Hello, are you still using this case? How did he perform a year later? I bought such a case online recently, I like it, but I read comments that the case can damage the laptop display and it will crack!? Are you okay with your laptop?
Hi, I used the case for about a year before the laptop broke! The laptop had a problem with the motherboard and nothing to do with the case. The case outlived the MacBook Pro, and I would buy another in a heartbeat as it was a very good product. I now have an M3 MacBook Air and this time I bought a Supcase, also a great product at less than half the price of the UAG, but UAG are still the best in my opinion. At the time UAG didn't have a case for the MacBook Air, but since then they have released one. Thanks for watching and I hope this helped.
Are the "rubberized feet" grippy? Are they rubber? a lot of these kind of cases look fine but are actually plastic and/or are not grippy. What are your thoughts on these feet? An answer is very much appreciated. Thanks.
They are made from a very durable rubber (Like a tractor tyre). Usually after a few months of use, the other cases I have use have either worn off the rubber coating leaving behind a hard plastic foot that is no longer grippy, or the feet have fallen off/out of the case or broken/chipped. The UAG case still looks like new, the feet are grippy and look the same as when I unboxed it. I can never express how good this case is. People keep asking me all kinds of questions and each time I give a 5 star answer, I am sure people will start to think I am lying, but I am not and the case really is the best I have ever used. (And I have used a lot of cases over the last 15 years!). I hope this helps and thanks for watching.
@@Paullebbon cool, thanks. What are the corners/sides made of?? Is it rubber and shock-absorbant? I'll probably get it. I'll put a skin on the macbook lid underneath the case cos it doesnt look pretty haha, I care more about safety than looks. Does it feel like it adds any weight?? I'm aware many of these types of cases can cause the lid to be slightly different and close when the lid is at acute angles (e.g. a 20 degree-ish angle). What are your thoughts? Again, thanks
Yes, the sides and corners have the rubber from their phone cases. The one drawback is weight. It makes the macbook heavier, but I value durability and protection over style and beauty. It protects very well, and that is everything for my needs. After the first day, I didn't even notice the extra weight, but it does weigh more than other cases.
@@Paullebbon cool. Yeah the weight is around 450g. I wonder if that will be uncomfortable after having it on my lap for hours at a time, as I usually do. Also it's bound to wear down the hinge of the macbook over time, heavy cases have been reported to do that. Other than that it sounds great. I'll have to think it over. Maybe I'll buy it only for when I have to use the macbook outside the house.
No it doesn't block the vent when the laptop screen is in the open position (during use). When the laptop screen is open the rubber connecting strap makes a channel that allows air to move freely, and it has a stiffness to it that keeps the shape well. When the laptop is closed then it does cover the vent, but the M1 and M2 MacBook Pro do not have a fan that runs after closing the laptop and so it does not affect cooling in any way. I hope this helps and thanks for watching.
It has a slight raised area towards the Apple logo on the top of the case. MacBook Pro is embossed on the bottom and the small black legs are also raised 4-5mm. The black border is slightly raised by about 2mm all the way around and the rest of the clear case has a texture like small dots (invisible). The case is very durable and grippy and I am still using it. Thanks for watching.
Great and informative video Paul! I just subscribed to your channel. I am not sure if you have had a chance to check out the SUPCASE Unicorn Beetle Case, but if you have can you give any comments on and comparison between the two cases? They both seem great but like other folks mentioned here, not sure if the other case is rubber or plastic and how the grip is on the feet. Thanks again!
Yes, I have had some products from Supcase unicorn beetle. They are not like UAG though, Supcase look similar but the material is not soft and rubbery, it is harder and more plasticky. You have to take price into consideration as Supcase are less than half the price and therefore lesser quality. I hope this helps and thanks for subscribing.
It weighs approximately 700g total, the 2 halves are about equal and so 350g each is about right. I have been using skins, featherlight and ultralight cases for years, but drop the laptop just one time and it is ruined. The UAG case fits so well I can’t see it doing any harm to the screen hinge, there is no pressure on the screen in any way. I hope this helps and good luck with your choice. Thanks for watching.
Do you mean sit on it? Yes, if you sat on it the screen would probably break. But you really should not sit on your laptop at any time. Thanks for watching.
A decal sticker photo should be ok, but if it is a thick leather type skin then no. The case fits quite perfectly. I hope this helps and thanks for watching.
It doesn't give the chemical composition on the box. It has the same materials used on their best phone cases (black parts), and the clear is an anti scratch hard, but it feels almost soft material. The case is so durable that when I recline in my chair, I can close the laptop and use it as a mini desk. I hope this helps and thanks for watching.
It is designed to stay on if you are unlucky enough to drop your laptop, so it doesn't come off as easily as some other brands that are for scratch resistance. But, I found it quite normal to take off when you want to clean the body of the laptop. Maybe the rubber compound of your case has become a little harder than mine. Anyway, I am sorry to her you had problems with yours and I hope that you can give it another chance as it does give excellent protection. Thanks for watching.
i'm sorry but i don't understand how this is a good review. a review of a case like this is absolutely and utterly incomplete without a drop test. you should refrain from doing reviews like this.
Thank you for your thoughts, but a laptop is not a mobile phone and no case will protect it fully from a drop test. This case may protect from a slip from the sofa onto a carpeted floor (without a case this would end in a dent or creased hinge, I know it happened to another MacBook I had). The UAG case is excellent against bending in a backpack. When traveling it gives great protection from scratches, or even putting it down a bit too quickly onto a desk. This case will give little protection from a waist high drop and a head high drop would completely destroy it. MacBook Pro's have fans inside and other very delicate parts that would break in a fall. Thanks for watching.
Great review... thanks for showing the sides... much more open that the 2019 UAG Case for the MacBook Pro 16!
