- What a delight to explore this magical biodiverse river system and camp in walking distance to put our canoe in to paddle and discover up close a beautiful ancient landscape. This location was the perfect place to celebrate our wedding anniversary, doing what we love, with perfect weekend weather, good food and star filled nights.
If you are reading this thank you and if you watch our videos, thank you kindly again.
Great place guys, love this spot will be visiting myself, did you have to book online As I have a NP pass as well. Really enjoying your content. Cheers.
Thanks Ray, you can book online but I phoned NP to try and see what would best suit us, as there are many different size sites and some just for walk in campers. I recommend you ring NP and have a chat to ensure a site is suitable for your set up. We absolutely loved exploring Dunn Swamp, so extra special.
Always appreciate your feedback Ray. 😊
For anybody planning this trip avoid Bells Line of Road at the moment, they have torn up major sections of it and there are major delays. It took us over 3 hours to travel from Blacktown to Lithgow this week, we got stuck at a number of contra flows for sometimes up to 20 minutes at a time.
Oh that must have been frustrating. I hope you enjoyed the destination in the end.
@@gibbosroadtripadventures it was a great trip, we went to Glen Davis and then into Kelso. Because we were running late we didn’t get the time to stop in at Dunn Swamp to check it out for future trips, we’ll have to do that another day. The worst part of the roadworks were that the sections of road they ripped up were perfect two weeks earlier when we came back from Hill End.
@@peterbuckley3877 what a shame about the roads. We love Coorongooba Reserve in Capertee and have been going there for years - it’s changed a lot. Aren’t we lucky to have so many amazing places to camp in NSW.
Hi, we stumbled across your channel recently and have subscribed so we can watch all your videos, they are great! Thanks.
We live north of Sydney, have been together 38 years, married 36 and camp in many of the same places you do, so lots in common. This is one we will definitely be adding to our list.
How fabulous, parallel lives by the sounds of it. You won’t be disappointed at Dunn Swamp, but make sure you call NP to book the best site for the size of your set up. If you love road tripping like we do, 4 hours to a destination isn’t a problem. Dunn Swamp is magical!
Thanks for watching and subscribing, much appreciated. If you see us on the road, please say hi.
Cheers Marg👋🏻
I go there a lot . Cudgegong river joins Macquarie river which flows to the Darling river and it meets the Murray river
It’s very special isn’t it! 💚
Great episode , had to close our eyes when you were climing the steep cliff to the look out well done on doing it though.
Cheers
Jonno and Jez
Hi Jonno & Jez, thanks guys, it was worth the climb for the view. Cheers Marg

Cheers Marg
Nice spot, thankyou for sharing. Merry Christmas 🎄
Merry Christmas to you too Julie, happy travels! 🎄
Place looks as beautiful as your apple desert. Happy anniversary
Thanks Geoff, the camping & landscape was spectacular.
Thanks again we love watching your travels and will definitely be booking this one very soon
Thanks Jimmy, it’s a beautiful place to explore, hope you get to go for a paddle while you are there - we loved it. Cheers Marg
Absolutely beautiful in spring the wild flowers are something else to see an heaps of bird life
A very special place. 💚
Hi Guys, Been here in the back of the ute roughing it and had a greet time. Love this spot.
It's an amazing oasis in the country, definitely not a vision of what you'd think of with a swamp. So good to be able to get out on the river to explore such stunning scenery. Glad you've experienced it too Linda, thanks for watching.
We enjoy watching your adventures and in particular I like your campfire cooking ideas. What are you using to cook on? We thought it was just a fire pit but it looks more sophisticated than that. Many thanks.
Hi Deborah, we’re pleased you are enjoying our videos, how beautiful is Dunn Swamp, so special. What we sometimes cook on is a Flatdog Portable BBQ from BBQ Galores which uses heat beads and folds up completely flat for storage.
Cheers Marg
@@gibbosroadtripadventures Thank you. Happy camping!
Love this . Not sure what episode you did the cinnamon apples wrapped in puff pastry BUT I’ve made them this afternoon and they got the big tick ✅ of approval from my lot so PLEASE keep all your camp side recipes coming so we can eat like kings & queens on the road 🥰
Hi Lorraine. It was this episode “Dunn Swamp” and I’m thrilled that you gave the cinnamon apple rings a go, how good are they! Did you serve them warm with cream/ice cream or sprinkle some icing sugar and enjoy them as they are? We found them nice cold as well.
Thanks for watching and commenting, always appreciated.
Until next time!
Cheers Marg 😋
Warm with ice cream & yes they are delicious whatever way you serve them 🥰
@@lorrainedraper82 awesome!
Good size cod in there as well
Would love to catch a cod one day.
Steve can you give me some info on your slide out bbg, I am in the market for a small BBQ for my tunnel.
Cheers mate.
Hi John, it's Marg here, I bought Steve the BBQ for his 50th. It's a Galleymate Marine BBQ on a slideout tray, which we turn the other way when it's outside the storage compartment. Hope this helps. Cheers Marg
Just stumbled across your channel. We are fellow Berowrians patiently waiting for our new van to get out exploring again. Dunn’s Swamp is a top spot. Thank you for sharing the Aboriginal history of the area.
Hello Lisa! Congratulations on soon to be new van owners. We absolutely love the outdoor lifestyle and are keen to get to as many nooks & grannies we can find, and also happy to share our experiences via our channel on UA-cam.
Dunn Swamp is such a magical place, you certainly get the feeling that it’s pretty spiritual too, the rock pagodas are especially spectacular as are the walks in the area. Hope you do plan to go there one day.
As for its history, it’s always so sad to learn of the injustice to the original owners of this land and the Wollemi area certainly had its own horrific history.
Thanks for leaving a message, really appreciate hearing from people who have watched our videos. I hope you will consider being a future subscriber which is free on UA-cam.
Cheers Marg
@@gibbosroadtripadventures subscribed! We have been to Dunn’s swamp a couple of times before. Your channel is giving us many ideas for first short trips in the new van before we head off for a few months later in the year.
@@lisabaker9777 how awesome, we took 2 months off last year and had the best time exploring WA’s west coast. Happy to hear that our videos may give you some destinations to visit.
Happy travels and thanks for subscribing.
Cheers Marg
@@lisabaker9777 Lisa what sort of caravan did you order?

Hey guys have you been to lake Wallace yet only can camp for 2 nights but it’s for free with hot showers great place an you should definitely catch a fish there : another good spot is burraga dam free camping right on the dam
We've had a look at Lake Wallace on the way home from somewhere but at the time it was pretty busy. Thanks for the tip on Burraga Dam, that looks like a great place for our canoe. What's the road like into there?
@@gibbosroadtripadventures it was pretty good when we was there 2 years ago there’s a shop not far from it but don’t rely on it having anything on there shelves;
Great place to camp and relax
It sure is Alan.
@@gibbosroadtripadventures great vid ...thanks for sharing ..i always wondered what its like out there... i been from mudgee to lithgow etc and the big rocks/hills/mts are awesome.... ps congrats on surving the other other half so long..haha
camping crime scene got an extra laugh here...x
@@OPIXdotWORLD Definitely worth a visit - it really is a special place.
Gee the price has gone up since the 90’s
This would have be one of my favourite campsites in NSW, it’s so well maintained, so if they use the fee to look after it, it’s worth it. Such a beautiful place with such a tragic history.
