Gibbo’s Road Trip Adventures
Приєднався 27 вер 2016
Exploring, camping, 4wding beautiful Australia. It’s all about the experience, the capture, the photography, the stargazing, the camp cooking, the fire, the road trips, the adventure and the characters we meet. Subscribe to join us as we discover every nook & cranny in the lucky country.
Can NP improve onsite bookings, where sites remain empty due to campers not cancelling?
Come with us as we continue further north and make it to Queensland. We explore The Granite Belt and are amazed at the landscape and our unfitness levels.
We do find ourselves frustrated wanting to stay in the NP areas with empty sites but unable to book due to no service, NP attendee or honesty box facility. Other than driving miles to get service to see if we can book online.

WHERE TO CAMP in SYDNEY Exploring the Northern Beaches
Good one. 👍
@@fatmanoverlanding thank you! ☺️
Hi been watching your videos for a while now, loved Girraween when we went, quite a few years ago now. I have the same klevs but larger rice cooker that you have, I have a question for you, does your rice all stick to the bottom of the cooker or am I doing something wrong
@@annnardi7892 Hi Ann, thanks for following us. As for your question, I’m guessing you may be leaving it too long. Just keep an eye on the time and check it at say 20 minutes, then to be sure, every 5 minutes after. I find 30 minutes max and rice should be cooked. You could stir it at 20-25 minutes. Hope this tip helps. Cheers Marg
Yes the national parks can be very frustrating, and we also love your 200 😂, makes us question vehicle choices 😂.
@@shaddonaghue haha you own a Toyota, so it’s still in the family. Thanks for your support Shad, always appreciated. 😊
Hi fellow travellers, love the kids, we done Bals Rock climb in October 24, we took the other route which was a wonderful walk through the forest and wonderful Rock formations. We based ourselves at Boona Boona NP just across to the east a few klm. We had prebooked, arrived to find others in our site, back tracked to reception, discussed with NP, booked another and had a wonderful stay with walks, swimming in river, plus camp fires each day. Happy travels!
@@russellwyborn5892 apparently that was where Steve wanted to go after failing to book Bald Rock but in saying that gives us a reason to head back there one day more prepared. Thanks for your feedback and happy camping in 2025. Cheers Marg & Steve
So keen to visit those national parks. John agrees with the meatball review, home made always best. I'm heading off on my own next week and might visit. Thanks for the great video.
@@sharyns.shenanigans That’s exciting, Steve & John agree on … similar balls! You will love the Granite Belt region and the walks, the placement of boulders are incredible. Cheers Marg 😊
Hi , great video as always love your dress 😊
@@shayliemula7224 Hi Shaylie, thank you, I love my dress too, very comfortable and purchased from a shop at The Entrance on the Central Coast NSW. We seem to wear the same clothes in our videos due to being our favourite camp wear. Thank you for watching & stopping by, appreciate your ongoing support. Cheers Marg 😊
Hi guys. Do love watching your weekly content. I like the booking idea for the national parks as you know you are going to get a site and the one you have chosen. What I don’t like is and it happens all the time people will book a site and sometimes multiple sites in different places on the same day, so they have the flexibility of picking which one they want to end up at. To me this is wrong. Also if people are booking these sites and not making an attempt to cancel or notify national parks they should be blacklisted. Just my thoughts. Keep up the good work.
@@shortdestinations8116 I hear you, I think there should be a fee if you don’t cancel your NP booking but how does that get monitored? I appreciate your feedback. Like WA, I wish more National Parks had camp hosts available knowing what the go is, there are plenty of travellers nowadays who would be happy for free accommodation in peak times to be camp hosts. We really wanted to stay at Bald Rock, plenty of sites vacant, but no service or way to book unless you fully leave the area. Thanks for watching & taking the time to leave us a message. Cheers Marg & Steve
@@gibbosroadtripadventures I agree! It is so frustrating. Unfortunately the Parks aren't well enough funded to be manned all the time and big peeve also is stealth campers. Sneak in after dark and leave early in the am without paying at all. Should be a fine of some sort but you're right how do you police it. Always cancel your booking if you are not going to make it to give others the chance to stay. NP's usually give you credit for the next place if you do so. I was at Girraween last winter, it's an amazing area!
@ Hi MJ, thanks for your feedback, I think many of us fellow campers feel the same. Agree that some take advantage of the system and don’t cancel when they should. If only NP could find a system that identifies & correct these issues. We truly wanted to stay at Bald Rock but decided we’d better move on. We do plan to return another time and conquer all that we didn’t achieve. I’d love NSW NP’s to look into putting on camp hosts like WA does, who could note those that don’t turn up to there bookings. That way they maybe contacted to free a site up for others.
@@gibbosroadtripadventures Yes some of the NSW Parks have site Rangers but not all. And perhaps at least, instal towers for better reception? I feel ya girl. Not good. Oh well, you have a destination to revisit some time.
@ Absolutely and so many free camps.

@@dannyxrpbray4546 How good, thanks for the follow. It’s so annoying that some campers don’t consider the environment or other campers. Good on you leaving places better than you find them. Cheers to you Danny!
I love following you guys. A question about greenmans camping. Is there powered campsites near the water. Would love to just sit and throw out a line keep doing what yas do love it
@@DigitalVantage2014 Thank you, appreciate you following us. I think there might be a powered site down near the water but why not give Greenmans a call to confirm. You’d be wanting to fish at high tide or fish from the wharf. Cheers Marg
Cmon Mikey boy, where is your sense of adventure, memories are made on camping on the edge of a potential flooded river. My guess you’d be downright boring. Stop smoken the whacky tobacy and live life on the edge of your undies.
@clissaT, you sound like a pain in the backside. If I was you I’d stay at home and pitch the tent in your backyard, talk about whinge whinge.
Use your firewood to fill some of those ruts.
Thanks Ken, several others also suggested that but it wasn't the ruts that were our biggest concern, it was the wash away that we had to pass to make it through. Cheers Marg
What happened about the fire !!!! You left us in suspenders !!!!?.. !!!!!

What a great peaceful camp, love the blow up rings , made for a great relaxing time. Definitely worth marking this spot down. 👍🏼 If people can’t take the toilet paper out they should at least burn it… there’s nothing worse than it blowing around campsites. Well done on the video.

It’s so difficult as we have different types of media that we both video on, also I’m a much louder speaker than Steve. I wish my editing software could balance everything including the music but I’m not sure if there is a program that can do that. This year I will try to use my mobile less. Frittata looks amazing
Diana that Frittata turned out better than I thought with a last minute thought about what to cook with our leftovers and the last Vegemite & cheese hot cross bun. You could use sourdough instead if it wasn't hot cross bun season which seems to go for 6 months. 🤣 Cheers Marg
Where did you get your blow up tubes
Hi Denton, we get this question quite a bit and would you believe they are probably over 5 years old and have had some rough riding but still remain intact. We've just had a check and if you Google 'Tobin Sports River Sport Tubes 2 Pack Inflatable Float' you'll find them available from online sellers. Good luck - they are so much fun and very comfortable, even sitting on the grass to just chill whilst camping. Cheers Marg
