      I bet you complain about welfare! But expect our state and local government to dish out business and corporate welfare???
      Weren't these companies saving their monies. Taxpayers shouldn't be saving anybody. Especially companies that act elite by catering to the wealthiest musicians.
      Can't they afford to move elsewhere???

      @@Kevin-mk6jo I hear ya. The biggest part of the problem is that the "blue" states with a big problem are more desirable to housed and homless people. They are warmer and allow for outdoor living year-round, have high populations, thus expensive housing markets, and some "red" states have shipped many of their homeless to them. That all makes it much worse. We have some good programs to house and help them, but many are not helpable. Personally, I'd like to see labor camps opened to get them off of the streets, off drugs, on psych meds, on a schedule, and put to work. However, there are different reasons for homelessness, thus different strategies are needed.

      The city has been sued by homeless advocates such as the ACLU. A judge agreed with them and forced the city to stop removing homeless from the streets without first offering them shelter/housing. He's also forcing the city to spend $1billion to build them apartments.

      Because what you see here is on every sidewalk and every corner. Even after it's been cleaned up they come back a few days later. You can't force these violent transients to accept housing. They don't want it. Homeless that do want help get it and get housing. The rest refuse it and want to live this life. I can't drive down Sunset in this area because there's always a transient having a meltdown and throwing stuff into traffic including large things like garbage bins. It's an open air asylum all over the city. Can't walk anywhere.

    Just terrible to watch this ( other than drooling over the space & gear ) I had my studio business ( Winslow Ct Studio ) at Santa Monica & Gower for 22 years. That studio was considered to be one of the first studios ever built in the world for sound for films way back in the early 1900's. ( was an RCA & Columbia location - & others ) Anyways , 2018 my studio was robbed. The guy broke in through the roof / heavily barred skylights early one Sunday morning. The guy did a LOT of damage & we caught him in progress as he was trying to leave from the roof. I had him on video tape , had his D.N.A. cus he ate all of the food that was in the lounge & left a mess as well as us even catching him with a bunch of my items on the building's roof. He was released later on the same day - somebody posted his bail , the detectives would not & NEVER called me back after multiple calls. They just blew me off. That was extremely frustrating and disappointing. They had ZERO interest in helping me in any way. THAT was the slap in the face wake up call. When I went to court ( the culprit - an early 20's AA male dressed as a utility worker ) didn't even look like the same person. Dressed not like a million bucks for court but more like 2 million bucks. Anyways, prior to entering the courtroom the D.A. said he'll be sent for a 90 day phys ch evaluation so even though you are here today you won't need to appear. & that was that. I never heard a word again. The system & the city do not care. The fact that this could happen to the historic SSS is letting you know that nothing is sacred to those who don't care.

    The Supreme Court left the west with the inability to stop the homeless from camping on the public land (unless there are enough shelter beds for them), but keeping house on a sidewalk has other issues. Littering, disabled access, safe pedestrian right of way, trespassing on private property (if the complex is beyond the street easement which is four feet I think), California Vehicle Code 22651(k) which states a vehicle is only allowed to park in the same spot on a public street for up to 72 hours and these issues probably are not covered by the Idaho 9th Federal Circuit Case Martin v. Boise. allowing camping?

    • @VenusNouveau2005

  • @arneliashort4647
    @arneliashort4647 7 місяців тому +3

    Yes. The homeless make some of the best cities in this country less enjoyable because of the safety issues that come with them. Not all, but many of them are unsafe to be around. The last time I was in San Diego I saw a guy smoking what appeared to be crack out of a pipe in downtown like it was a normal day. It was very shocking to see. And there were tons of them. Phoenix is even more disturbing. Something has to be done because people who work for a living should not have to foot the bill for people who waste their life away doing drugs. Even more alarming is the fact that our governments will turn a blind eye to our own citizens in need but will provide shelter and sustenance to illegal immigrants who are breaking the law by coming here. All of this is backwards. However, I'd rather our tax dollars go to this issue than overseas or to the illegals. When are we going to get someone in these positions of leadership that will do what's right for us and not for everyone else? As much wealth as California and other states have, this should not be an issue and it should not fall on the citizens to find a solution or bear the burden of this problem.
