We just want a cheap EV to act as the family shopping cart. We don't need self driving, we don't need 1000km battery range, we don't need to hit 100kph in 2 seconds. Cheap and reliable and less things to go wrong. Sounds like the Chinese have this covered.
TOTALLY agree with you. Most of us normally do NOT speed, travel over 60km per day or do long distance driving of over 300km . So the Neta fits the bill and most important it MUST be Affordable with little maintenance.

I don't see myself ever buying a Tesla for my modest automobile needs, but a cheap Chinese EV would be very tempting. I'm guessing tariffs from my racist and xenophobic government would be a dealbreaker though.

We have one of those, it's called a Gen 1 Nissan Leaf. It was cheap to buy & is incredibly cheap to run!

Sick of waiting for some of these competetive Chinese brands to be available here in the UK, get a wriggle on! Tired of paying the fuel duty that the UK government steals from our pockets and being held to ransom everytime there is a crisis somewhere in the world. It seems there is always an excuse for manufacturers charging motorists more and more. I just want to be able to buy an affordable/comfortable EV and help the planet...

They are cheap in China, you won't be able to buy it for that price, probably double, about $18,000, but as long as the prices stays under 20K, it will be very disruptive. Here we only have a few options like the Dacia Spring and Twingo for example, they aren't even good in comparison to fossil. That's why we need these Chinese companies, if EU doesn't know how to compete, Chinese will be very welcome here.
Dacia Spring is also built in China, probably cost like $8000 there, LOL.

For the USA market, that would already be a huge improvement and provide accessibility to EVs for more people. Our OEMs are not delivering in more affordable models.

Any safe, affordable EVs being added to the roads is a plus. For 9k I wonder how much they would charge just for the drive train and battery + controller?

Big respect @ these prices but it has to have major compromises: safety, noise intrusion, brakes, handling, ride, seats, interior quality....very displeasing in person I'm sure...still a BIG place for it, not everyone can afford to consider pleasantries, performance and safety, around the farm and village? could be ideal.
Yes. Good news. I want an EV asap. And even though I'm a Tesla fan, unless Elon backflips & gets on with a Model2 (as such) I feel I'm not in Tesla's equation before 2030, if ever.
So yes, if a Neta S turns up in Australia for some $25-$30k on road, then that will be my next car..
So until I'm a wealthy man & I get cybertruck call in 5-6 years time. I'm going for cheap but quality from China.
Absolutely fantastic news, It's great to see a lot more affordable electric cars coming onto the market from China, Lets face it China is the only country that can make mass electric cars happen without having to sell your first born to pay for it. All the big expensive electric car manufacturing companies must be quaking in their boots with news like this. China is the centre of the electric car universe.
I’ll believe it when I see it. I was super hyped about byd coming to Australia. Turns out the atto 3 would have cost me close to 50k here in Western Australia including all costs, and no rebates available whatsoever. Hardly affordable.
Can you not buy it in Sydney then drive it home? States do my head in. I am from NZ so prices are the same from top of our country to the bottom..
A car in this price class is important because the prices today on so called affordable electric cars is a joke, costing as much as a bmw 335 did new, basically a luxury high performance car and only a minority could afford these kind of cars. Now everone is expected to suddenly buy cars in those price classes, makes no sense and wouldnt be possible even if the car paid people to drive it. Now they just have to focus on keeping close to that price in Europe and we can start change out older gasoline cars to electric cars.
I want a cheap EV. I try to avoid using my car as much as possible, so a dorky looking thing from China will suit me perfectly.

Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder. If you gaze Neta EV through your environmentally conscious eyes, it won't look dorky, but a really good value for money product.
Not really good news to me, I wouldn't buy one, but they are going to do amazing. This is what so many have been waiting for, affordable EV'S. This is likely to be massive. Good on them.
That interior is so much better than the Byd atto 3
I was disappointed by the pricing of the BYD Atto in Australia so I'm not holding my breath if/when Neta comes here!
Well you will be more disappointed when that price increases before that EV lands in Australia as Chinese made Tesla Model 3 have increased by $4k this year! And I expect them to go up more this year and BYD have already increased their prices in China..
now this is more like it, looks like there will finally be an EV that i can buy to replace the little 2006 Getz runabout. Only concern i have would be the build quality.

currently the US has no sanctions on Huawei Automotive.

$9k is apparently the subsidized price in China. The price in EU, US,UK or AU would likely be 50-80% more. For that kind of cash, a second hand EV like a Leaf or early M3 might be better, but no EV tax credit for used EVs

Some many Chinese EVs that I lost count of, they are all coming...and we never hear of them again, meanwhile what we have is the expensive crapy EVs in Europe. ( expect Tesla but they are super expensive )

I use Neta U-Pro 501km range in Laos PDR . The price from dealer is 31500 usd the price was cheaper than the other brand

I don't think any cheap EVs will be coming to the US. There will be a huge effort to stop that. That's too bad because there is a huge gap at the low price end of the market.

Good news to me. I want a BASIC EV and live in Perth - so right hand drive only. I want zero self driving features and have no intention of using them and will only buy an EV with those features if I can’t avoid them. I know the Chinese are the only ones who are going to produce BASIC EV like this, so I am not resistant to them getting my business. I buy Chinese when they offer value for money despite their politics. That right hand drive production line is music to my ears.
Now,if only they come to Canada.Over 9 months wait list for Kia/Hyundia,Ford taking no orders at this time.Gm has no affordable options for at least 1-2 years! Many other Co.are pricing themselves out of the 20-30 grand market!

There’s a tsunami of EV production building in China. This development should be a high priority, recurring news item, because it has tremendous implications globally. Elec Viking is on it, and some others, but plenty of folks, even in the biz community, have no idea what’s brewing.

If they can barely make ICE that cheap, they must be cutting corners somewhere? Is the steel of cheaper quality? paint? Does it have a safety rating in any parts of the world? I am skeptical. Don't get me wrong, I'm hanging for a cheap EV to hit the market but that cheap raises questions.
They can make ICE that cheap, however ICE in China are charged an approximately US$10k license plate fee! However soon the playing field will close as at the end of 2022 all EV subsidies end and so will the cheap EV!
Great video Sam, I’d say the 2 areas that will increase prices to sell in the uk would be safety and shipping, something that always adds cost to vehicles as they must meet uk safety standards to be able to sell here

Like many others in the West, I am not keen on self driving cars, however, Neta seem to push a lot of other buttons in E.V.'s that are desirable.

Neta V is so attractive except its unusually short wheelbase.
EV's in the $15K -$25K price range will sell like hotcakes, particularly given the specifications noted for these cars.However, there i one thing often overlooked in these segments and that's the charging time. I believe the US market is wary of ICE alternatives that may result in making road trips impractical. I had tentatively made up my mind to buy a BYD Juan Plus, but then found out that the DC charge rate is 80 KW, or a 90 minute 20-80 pct charge time. This was a deal breaker. While most people will do 90+ pct of charging at home, they also want the option to take the occasional road trip. I was able to order a KIA EV6 which will be delivered in May. While $15K pricier, it checks all of the boxes.

But from watching your Neta footages, I think Neta cars are not good materials/plastics. I even think Dacia and present-day Datsun (2013-present, as a brand of low-cost cars) are much better materials.

Interesting video but your pricing is not close to reality. It's is a very inexpensive car but Neta V for $9000 -555. Who provided the pricing? Double is closer to reality. Thinking of picking one up and might find one around $15,000 after big price drops this year.
I'd like to echo the sentiments of Geoff Haylock (comments below). Hopefully the USA government will not impose so many obstacles as to make this desirable vehicle unaffordable by the time it comes to market. Thanks for keeping up with the EV developing news.

EV's are great for major metropolitan areas where you drive less than 50 miles a day and can charge it at home. Other than that it's a novelty.

I don't see how that this can work. With the value of car so high and the price so low demand will vastly exceed supply. "Scalpers" will step in and buy every car they can and resell it at a higher price.

Well do not expect the price they gave you on your Atto 3 as already in China the price has increased, and if you look at the Chinese made Model 3 it has gone up $4k this year

So here we are with a humongous supply issue because of being reliant on shipped imported goods and here is the Viking saying Chinese cars will destroy all the legacy non Chinese car manufacturers , brilliant just what we need , then China cuts supply over a political problem and we end up with no cars just like fertiliser and add blue .

Must be a catch to it. Extra would have to be paid for other services. Tracking of where you go perhaps. Or constant advertising on the screens. It's tooooo cheap and has too much tech not to some sort of trap.

I do welcome inexpensive Chinese EVs but I worry not about build quality, but more about inexpensive poorly made conponents. How long can one expect to have it's motor run and are the bearings going to burn up? As you make something less expensive what are you giving up. Then there are the problems of how to get this repaired. How well made are the components of inexpensive Chinese autos. At lease there are far less moving parts in EVs to worry about!

Many legacy Manufacturers and Dealers are hindering the adoption of EVs . Perhaps Thailand is the ONLY country pushing for the Adoption of EVs via Permits, incentives, Etc to encourage Chinese EV manufacturers to set up factory in Thailand. TESLA decline the invitation of Thailand. So ...... Please QUICKLY comes over. The Petrol and Diesel prices are "KILLING" us. Gone up by 25% in 2 weeks !!! 😵💫😵😵💫😵

Good looking product, great tech connections (CATL, Huawai), fantastic prices, laudible goals. However, as Elon Musk has clearly seen, the biggest hurdle is production. Their ramp up looks good so far; but how many Chinese manufacturers are currently delivering ~10,000 vehicles or more? Dozens and dozens! The ones that will probably succeed are the ones who will get massive fabs churning out cars, efficiently and profitably, the _fastest._ Neta's an up 'n comer; may they _throw_ themselves heart & soul into production.

Fuck yes this is good news! So many more people will be able to go electric, thus hastening the transition away from FF. This will also incentivise legacy auto to adopt or fail. Probably fail. Legacy has bet their futures on FF since inception, so imo, the sooner they evaporate, the better for everyone, except a tragic minority.

Am I getting confused or is the EViking? He refers to the Neta that’s being exported as the Model S and then gives specs for a 9000 dollar car that won’t be exported. The S won’t be anywhere as low in price as the basic model he refers to.
I’m a Huawei user and have great respect for them but , of course, the cars won’t have access to Google apps which doesn’t matter in China but will in Europe and the UK.

"I don't know how they do it" - always be wary of dumping whenever dealing with China - even if they "claim" a profit per unit... (such a claim is always necessary to avoid punitive tarrifs.) - Geo-politics needn't be a consumers first priority but it is for governments and unions.
I'd love to have a small electric ..and the backing of CATL abd Huawei.. even though Western governments have isolated Huawei because they believe the chinese govt will use it to command the it world..
It doesn't seem very different that the Dacia spring at 12000 euros, the performance is the same I don't know about range. Yes it has cameras and other gimmicks but all these things have a subscription behind them, it's more of a bait than anything else.
This would be significant if EVs had all the resources to make millions and tens of millions of EVs - but they don't. Lithium cobalt and Nickel will continue to constrain Lithium based EV production to a max of a couple million a year - does not matter who makes them. I wish there was more of these precious resources but there are not and prices fo these elements are rapidly climbing as are the prices of EVs. $9000 for an EV would be incredible but they won't be able to make many because of this restriction. Higher priced EVs will have the advantage of being to buy the limited supply.
American car companies have never been good at producing small vehicles with a profit. I think it will be the same with affordable EV’s. American auto manufacturers will have to partner with a foreign manufacturer to compete.
I wonder if some of these companies will make the same mistake the Japanese did, using sheet metal that rusted away in the US snowbelt cities. It took years to find that out and bucks to correct it.
They already do, LDV T60 was reported by a metal expert as being called shit steel in the lawsuit that LDV lost for rust issues in Gold Coast Australia.
@@gregb1599 Not surprising when you are the children of the sun god, selling goods to hairy barbarians. That Chinese tradition is still far too common. I ordered a 10 lb. weight from China. It measured 9 lb. 1 oz. on a postal scale, fully 10% less than it should have. I'd be afraid to find out if that company started selling EVs.
Don't be so excited, will be like on the phones market, no way to be cheap in Europe as in China, or in the rest of the world. In fact, is geopolitics as the prices are covered by many subsidies in China and - probably - all of them will be under fire related to dumping prices to get a bigger market share...
So is nothing different here from what Huawei, Xiaomi, and many other Chinese producers made before them, are not "fantastic construction technologies", are just low price with very low margin to make a name in the market (look at this, all said are 200 companies in China making EVs, but people are talking just about BYD, Xpeng, and NIO...)

The Czech government will tax it out of reach to avoid competition for Skoda cars.
Such a targeted tax would not be permitted under EU law, I understand.
