Guest and skits like this is why David Letterman is a class act. Unlike those late night hacks that are on now.
Did you notice that "the audience" all had spaces in their front teeth! Great clip!
5:18 Judging from that clothesline, "someone" was washing the reds and whites together.
Brilliant. 60 Minutes glory days.
This is so fun! Thank you for replaying these short films.
That was pretty brilliant, I remember seeing that back in the day. Love when journalists get into doing comedy--Jane Pauley, Tom Brokaw, Brian Williams and Katie Couric are a few other nimble comedian reporters.
Lots of great gags. Well done, Diane!
More evidence that America probably peaked in the 1980s. You know, the last decade without the Internet.
Also, THAT is a woman, kids. And a journalist.
This is beyond genius.
This was 37 years ago
This was brilliant. Genuinely brilliant. Diane Sawyer doing a Monty Python sketch basically. So good.
Wow, she looked absolutely incredible back then.👍🔥
Oh, she was gorgeous. And so was her buddy Jane Pauley. I had huge crushes on both of these babes.
She still does.
I’m still in love with her!
Love her 🤗❤️
Bizarre, wonderful.
Thank you Letterman for posting this. Big Fan of Diane, regardless of the Gen Z haters who complain about her.
Hers was the best of the series so far.
Dave loved lookers, and I thank him 😊
This series is brilliant! I thought it peaked with Michael Keaton but it just keeps getting better.
I always suspected this to be the case! 😂
This is comedy. I miss Letterman's show. I was 5 years old when this piece aired so I didn't see it until today. But THANK you for sharing these. Dave's comedy ALWAYS hit a spot. Just like Conan afterward. It was a perfect era. What ever is on now is just junk. Lucky I grew up in the 80s-2000s.
Very funny David
Dave's shoes are wicked good. Diane is as fine as i remember, the voice in a sweater 👀
This is some epic comedy. It's as if this was directed by Albert Brooks.
I was thinking the exact same thing. Not only the style of comedy, but the quality of video really makes it look like an Albert Brooks piece.
Wow! Dave and Diane!? That's huge!
3:33 A very young Michael Badalucco(The Practice, ABC)(and a bunch of Law And Order episodes)
So sharp! Who's the writer here?
so you're saying it's not the Rothchilds, it's Letterman? I see it now. And he is the author of.... The Protocols. Whatever that is.
Anyone else catch the price of gas as 4:45?
Holy moly - is that right?!?!?!
76 cents per gallon?!?!?
Or is that for ice cream 🍨🍦
Yep
Would love to know the writer, director, and cast.
I’m pretty sure the writer/director was Alan Smithee.
POC: Regular gas was 73 cents
----------------------------- fell like Sherman & mr Peabody , the way-back machine is set on funny ....herded on stepdeck like livestock ....thanks4sharing
Wow.....Diane looked amazing!!!...lol
Hello!
That was probably really stupid. But since it was Dave, it was funny.
I have no idea what celluloid revery means. But she's gorgeous
Really is the template for Daily Show field pieces. Classic.
Only difference is Daily Show figured out how to find actual real people acting like those pretending to be employed as David Lettermen's Late Show audience.
2:50 That's not a young Biff Henderson is it?
No
I think I noticed a dental anomaly happening I almost watched it twice to confirm but yeah nah
Diane Sawyer was so gorgeous. She still is but wow.
Diane Sawyer was hot! I guess I was too young to realize it at the time.
