I desperately want to see this interview unedited. Also, I am a trucker and it is appalling as to the amount of sexism and overall abuse females in the industry have to endure. But, Diane is right... There are many of us male truckers that want to join the fight on women's behalf. We're not all creeps.
Just Killing Time I hate that all men are painted with the same brush. I have a lovely husband and 4 amazing sons. 20 percent of the population are narcissistic regardless of sex. Cheers from Canada!
Good for you! So what have you actually done?
@@Serai3 The relevant question.
+Tracey Johnson All men are not painted with the same brush. Nobody is saying every man is an abusive asshole. We're saying TOO MANY men are abusive assholes. There's a big difference.
@@Serai3 Yeah and she's saying just as many women are horrible too.
Thanks to Colbert's elder sister for getting him intrested in politics from an early age
That was really interesting, it's like it all makes sense now.
Agreed. I think we probably have Colbert's mom and older sisters to thank for much of what's best about Colbert.
Elder? You mean youngest! Fuck me...
He just made that part up ... He's a master in improv, just dogding her question.
Ramneek no he didn’t make that up. He mentioned that before in previous interviews.
As an ex trucker, i know that womans fear. 24 yr old solo driver. My family is full of truckers so its in my blood. My dad warned me about being careful, being that hes been on the road since he was 16, and saud there are many that still see trucking as a mans world, trust yiur instincts and never let anyone in your truck or corner you at truck stops/rest areas. Be alert at all times. Thank God I was never assaulted, im sure i still left myself in situations that it could have happened, but i met some wonderful older guys, mostly from my own company, and even some loading dock & security house guys who i seen alot since i had a dedicated/jit runs that took me under thier wing and made my days trucking something ill fondly remember for the rest of my life. Bless the drivers still keeping it between the ditches, i miss it greatly.
bebopsbaby1: Write a book...it sounds like you have stories and an interesting perspective on a occupation that most people see but don’t notice. I’d read it, for sure. 💻🖊🗒📓📚❣️
Diane Sawyer is getting interviewed, but she is such a good reporter that she manages to pull that story from Stephen about his older sister getting him interested in politics when he was a kid. Thanks Diane!
Diane was at CBS News from 1978 to 1989. She used to be on 60 Minutes before heading to ABC News in 89 as one of the anchors of PrimeTime Live
It's good that we still have a few folks around who remember how real news was reported, way back when.
Oh, did they air our "real news" in Canada? Wait, are you stealing my cable?! Running it across the border? I picture all of Canada like trailer park boys. 🤔
I remember when news reporters were expected to keep their political beliefs and biases to themselves. That’s how Walter Cronkite became the most trusted man in America. That, and his soothing voice. I miss him and I miss those days.
I am a woman painter and was @ a 5 star hotel in the engineering department and pushed out. Had two managers fired, for multiple reasons, and then continued to be harassed by a third supervisor...had a "soft exit" with the hotel, forced to quit a job I otherwised loved and excelled at. I searched out possible representation and found all the attorneys in the area are members at this hotels golf club, and therefore was impossible and gave up. Hope another woman won't ever have to endure what I went through there. I was working with the security department head; things were so bad.
I looooooove Diane Sawyer, such a classy, well spoken, articulate and compassionate person. I miss her on Good Morning America, she and Charlie were main reason for watching. She can interview someone in a respectful and straight forward manner. Her questions were always relevant and quick/ sharp.
I am happy to see all the others here so enthusiastically saying what I feel which is that Diane Sawyer is just the best!
4:02 holy crap diane sawyer just pulled a story out of stephen we've never heard before
Ms Sawyer is still such a classy women and excellent reporter! Love this woman!
I love her voice
When Diane Sawyer is on you know you are not here for the comedy but to hear her take on things. You could hear a pin drop in that studio. That is true respect.
I wish Stephen would get more serious with all his guests. I don't mean make everything dour, just deepen the tone of the conversation some. The triviality of his conversations with almost all actors is kind of irritating, for instance. There really isn't anything else they could talk about besides inanities? Really?
Still and always such a beautiful and poised professional..
Kristen Waterton a beautiful poised and professional puppet
...in the failed human experiment of evolution.
She's been a journalist.. a real journalist than most of us have been alive... She was put out because of her age, but still manages to have her own voice..
ChristieeMcgee lolol
James Humphrey I’m sure she means well : ))
Diane Sawyer is still beautiful after all these years. She was the reason why I watched Prime time, World News, 20/20 and Good Morning America. When she left, I stopped watching all four programs. My mom says she's 72 but so what?! Diane is still a babe in my book.
Diane Sawyer is lovely and noble.
I love Diane Sawyer. She is the definition of class, elegance, and intelligence.
"how do you remember the nixon administration? fondly now!" never had a spit take before now.
Ive been driving18 wheels since 2009. I’d say I’ve seen about 20 female drivers. And yes, the transportation industry is always in demand of drivers. It’s about 4,200 to take a 240 hr course in truck driving school. Luckily I got the needed funding, because of President Obama’s stimulus package. Now thanks to that, I’m a happier tax paying citizen.
Class act
3:08 Agreed!
Always a classy lady.
I. Cannot. Wait. For. The. Comey. Interview. 😳😳🙋🙋🙆
Damn she is awesome.
I've wondered if Diane Sawyer being young, beautiful and working as a reporter in a man's world was ever sexually harassed? Wish an interviewer would ask her.
I have always admired this lady.
Miss her.
try looking for that interview, u will never find it. it was completely erased
I couldn't believe how he called it 100%. Then completely was able to disintegrate all of the interview
She obviously interviewed him, why can't we see it anymore
i looove her!
Diane Sawyer is from Kentucky?
That surprised me too- (no southern accent).
This country is in such a sad state!
I have a disease called "trumpisis"
check news every hour to see what the jerk has said or done. I am hoping for a cure, I think they call it Impeachment
+Ted Davis: Was that really necessary?
How is she in a picture with Nixon?! No way!!! I get some women age like a fine wine, but she's still a bombshell!!! No seriously that was photoshopped right?!
manny s It is real, she was 27 years old in that pic. She is 72 now, she ages fantastically. She is still beautiful.
Yeah, you don't have to be young to be beautiful. Surprise!
Sadly, controlling sexual assault and other crimes comes down to a community by community bases. There is only some much the country or talking voices can do. It is a crime by people, on people, with people.
What??? Sorry Stephen, Impeachment IS a political process.
nice lady
Diane Sawyer is the real deal in terms of intelligence, beauty and professionalism.
"...my, er, president..."
Nicely put, Colbert.
"Err"-President. As in THE one that made mistakes.
+socrappyicoulddie
Er, as in hesitation
Lol yeah I know what you meant, but that's not how Colbert was saying it, hence his air quotes.
Questjon her about Diane Sawyer?
It's funny to see Colbert interviewing Diane Sawyer because I'll always remember a Daily Show bit that they did about media organizations enticing Jessica Lynch for an interview during the Iraq War and his punchline in the segment was "I'd love to have sex with Diane Sawyer". www.cc.com/video-clips/spk7ev/the-daily-show-with-jon-stewart-media-lynch
She cool
She seems kinda loopy here. Like on pills.
I remember when they showed destroyed Palestinian homes and people displaced by accident, she saw them and cried because they said it was Israeli houses so she cried but when they found out that they made a mistake and aired a burnt down Palestinian they apologized.... What were they apologizing for? That they named the pictures wrong, that she showed sympathy for Palestinians or that they showed a razed Palestine when they shouldn't have?
Everyone loved trump back then!
Nooo, they didn't.Ask anyone who knew him from before that is NOT a kiss ass.
boooooooooooooooring
Hm, the Hope Hicks of Nixon Administration...
Did Diane get boinked in the dressing room before the show? Her hair says so.
errrm...huh?
What she doesn't admit is her and her ilk foment this division with wholly intellectual dishonest behavior
Thank God Trump didn't handle 9/11
What a beautiful and eloquently poised lady. Truly, news anchors were cut from a different cloth back in the day.
Siddharth Pillay she comes from a time when journalists & reporters cared about finding the truth, whereas now most of them only care about chasing ratings to please their corporate bosses.
I loved Walter Cronkite as a kid (I know that might sound weird). He reminded me of my one Grandfather and seemed nice. He was a real reporter too , not just a talking head.
P.S. Now they just read what some one else researched & wrote and are a model, or in the case of Faux news - bleached blonds in short tight skirts or dresses nothing more.
my thoughts exactly, among the crowd nowadays Anderson Cooper has my respect a bit..
"Beautiful and eloquently poised." I'm surprised you didn't throw "well-spoken" into that mix. Dude, how often do you remark "what a handsome guy" when you see an interview with a MALE news anchor? How often do you remark on a MAN'S manners when he's talking about national issues?
A class act and real reporter
Yes, this should have been a 15 minute interview... was too short :/
#LIARS
I can listen to Diane Sawyer for hours. Still so classy, and beautiful.
Stephen loves his brothers and sister and they seem to have had a huge impact on his life. How lovely.
I'm one of twelve. Living in a super large families can either be great or a disaster. Sounds like Stephen's experience was great.
+ThandiM.: Our family always has a big impact on our life by the very nature of the situation, but I get what you’re saying.
Diane...respect for you...So much is reported about 'bout what women face within cultural standards...folks don't realize how many women (surely children) still struggle tremendously not just elsewhere, here in the States based upon our own cultural standards; frankly, have been valued/devalued as much by women as by men. What I've learned in 60yrs...it isn't a matter of gender as it is a general lack of respect for basic humanity.
Jane Guarnera 👏👏👏Well said. I wish more people could understand and realize that.
I love Diane Sawyer. She is just fantastic!
Lalz Party Hard to believe she's from Kentucky!
Worthy successor to Barbara Walter.
+Cheetos Ortiz: In my book, better than Barbara Walters. I appreciate her poise and measured way of speaking.
Lalz Party just? JUST?!? Im highly offended
Her husband, Mike Nichols was also a comedic legend including his work with Elaine May.
I love Diane Sawyer.
That woman is 72 yrs!!! Holy crap, she looks amazing.
Procedures that are consistent and expensive
One of my personal heroes so poise....
Thanks Colbert got the same Watergate lesson I did. I’d come home from elementary school and my mother sat we down to watch and explained why it was important to watch and understand.
Diane should look much older than she does. If it's surgery, she has a great surgeon, cause she looks really natural.
Cap One: I think it’s more likely a combination of good genes and her taking good care of herself. Her face doesn’t look distorted in any of the ways they tend to do when the owner of said face has been messing with it
The full unedited interview would be great.
Her voice.. Everything she says sounds profound
Yeah, she does sound full of herself
ademola adekunle Very much like an E F Hutton commercial....”when E F Hutton speaks, everyone listens.”
Diane Sawyer - if I didn't know her, I'd guess she was about 42.
Wise words from a wise and still beautiful woman and the best in her field. So classy and professional.
Diane Sawyer is intelligent, beautiful and a class act.
What a great piece of journalism! The women that are not in the spotlight!
Here’s a tip for Diane Sawyer in ref to the Me Too Movement and waitresses: Please make restaurants bear the full responsibility for a server’s paycheck (give them all a livable wage-where I live it’s at least minimum wage of 10+ dollars/hr (no need for tips, but it’s expected still)), rather the consumer by way of tips. Tips propagate sexual harassment! Tipping in general should be terminated; not only do they contribute to sexual harassment, they’re obligatory rather earned or special, they certainly aren’t what they used to be from a historical standpoint, far too many people now expect a tip, tips keep servers in/near the poverty line, tipping and discrimination are hand in hand, kitchen screws up or restaurant in general is poorly and the server “pays” the price in lower tips,...etc. Additionally, I should pay one price...the price of my food-no tip, no service fee...just the sticker price.
And taxes, in states where that applies.
I used to spend hours watching news and politics when I was 9yo too. Kinda makes me happy that I and Stephen have something in common.
issa osama
as did I!!
issa osama oh poor kid. You must be jaded by now.
Same here... I was a weird kid that loved the news... Grew up to report it.
Brad Moran Ma maaaaan!! 😂👊
issa osama
Brother from another mother!!✌️
Shes 72!
+Andrew How Sway..?
Wait what!?
And she actually looks like she didn't resort to plastic surgery to look younger, despite looking ten years younger. Which means that she either has amazing genes, or a really, really good plastic surgeon.
Andrew . Yers. Make up departments are pretty good, aren’t they!
😮😮
She is an incredible human being.
Diane still beautiful
Ms Sawyer reminded me of someone, then it came to me. Angie Dickinson from the 1970s, the same wry smile, the same color and haircut. But she surpasses the actress in poise, elegance and oratory skills. She sounds so "real" and so "wise", and a very capable journalist.
M4R1L0U1S3 she does seem like Angie D
She seems like one of the few good reporters left and not mired in scandal. She has a good heart it seems.
This woman is 72 years old?!?!?! She could almost pass for half that!!
edpistemic
She could nearly pass as 36?
I know you want to make a compliment but better keep it real.
This, to me is MAGA, where you're not lying or screaming down somebody to get your point across or preventing them from exposing you!!
Just because one was a kid during Watergate doesn't mean they didn't pay attention, even if they didn't understand the legalities of it. I remember my parents watching the hearings, and when Nixon gave his resignation speech with his wife, daughters and son-in-law, David Eisenhower standing by him. I remember thinking (as a little kid , OK) how sad his daughters looked. I remember Tricky Dick flashing the peace sign when he boarded the helicopter to take him to Air Force one and back to San Clemente. It struck me as funny as a child that he did it, because he seemed to me kind of a stiff, formal older man , not cool, though I didn't know then that he was really giving the WW2 V for Victory sign, not a hippie peace sign , LOL. I remember watching the CBS evening news with my parents when they talked about Watergate or Vietnam- Walter Cronkite reminded me of my Grandfather- Even on my Mom's soap opera one woman talking about how her son was drafted and going over to Vietnam etc.. Kids listen, even if they don't totally understand what is going on . I will admit I was disappointed though that the Flintstones were preempted for the Watergate hearings !
Diane Sawyer = Pure class.
She looks and sounds wonderful for age 73. Lots of respect for Ms. Sawyer!
She's such an intelligent and stunningly beautiful woman. She's looks a beautiful spring breeze
Insightful interview!
Her voice is so special
I’m hanging on every word
Stunning woman.
"Fondly at this point" #savage
I hated Richard Nixon. I protested when he came to my university in... 1970, I think it was. And I _still_ hate him. But I'd take him in a second over any of the recent Republican presidents, and maybe over any Republican who even _thinks_ of running for president these days.
Thanks to their "Southern strategy" of deliberately wooing white racists - which Nixon had a big part in starting - the Republican Party has become so crazy that even _Nixon_ ends up looking good in comparison. It's just nuts, isn't it?
Diane Sawyer is so beautiful and intelligent.
Love you Diane Sawyer, and all you do!
She looks very young and graceful.
Such a classy intelligent women..
One of the unfortunate (and destructive) side effects of a 24 Hour news cycle is most of the content is editorial vs. actual news.
Unless you start reporting on things that most people find boring or not-about-them, it's impossible to fill 24 hours with news. That's why all the insane opinionating and flashy key-jingling - they gotta keep people watching even when they're not saying anything at all.
Carlos Rodriguez
I couldn't agree more. To bad more people don't understand that. News isn't news anymore
Good point
no idea if they read the comments, but can you guys put the intro to the guests back in please? I miss those
Raphael Man Those were amazing. Like Scaramucci entering to Bohemian Rhapsody
And Billy Bush entering to "The Wheels on the Bus" in a sad, minor key
Cant believe Ellen is 60 ...she looks 40 ....
71 year old Diane sawyer : hold my news cast!
She hasn't aged! :) :) :)
"[...] because my Dad had always said that, 'You have to measure yourself by whether you're there in the worst of times for people too.'"
I used to watch Diane Sawyer on GMA in the morning and listen to Delilah at night. I thought they were the same person, but there was just something about her that I love
Colbert - that hamster you're talking about, I saw him the other day -
He was saying to his wife, honey, see how I've conditioned that guy! Every time I tap on this pedal, he gives me a treat !
flynnbrown2001 :D
i wonder if the silence at 'being there ... at the worst of times' was just too awkward
I've never seen Stephen so blown away 8:50. It's endearing ♡
watergate is only the tip of the iceberg, what about COINTELPRO Why does the media not talk about that? watergate dates back to the early 70s/ 72 cointelpro ended in 73
Jose Aquino COINTELPRO is indeed a subject that really gets overlooked
its really uncomfortable to go through it.
Diane Sawyer, why can’t I stop what I’m doing immediately to listen to your every word? Don’t answer, I’ll enjoy every time you give the news and every opinion :-)
I went to the same high school, funny thing, she is the only good that come out of Seneca High. Sad huh lolz
Trump...the Undertoad.
