ICE cars stop in water because water goes up the air intake pipe into the engine, not because the tail pipe gets blocked.
This is the most I have ever anticipated any vehicle in my life.
I am so curious to find out what it's real capabilities are going to be and whether you can convert the flatbed into a platform for a mini RV / "tiny house".
most important is that stainless steel even bulletproof aluminium is so weak would make perfect vehicle for soldiers/police/rescue
I’m sure camper shell company’s like “Lund” will make one to fit.
“Making the vehicle accessible for a wider range of drivers.” Which feature makes it more accessible, 4 wheel steering at $100k per truck, or normal steering at $50k? They just priced out the majority of buyers for a novelty feature.

ICE vehicles generally die because they suck up water in the intake when crossing waters, not usually because of the exhaust getting under water.

I think all cybertucks should be the same top-line spec. It will be cheaper and faster to make, and they will all have the same clout. Cutting motors cuts a ton of features.
I’m actually glad the truck is delayed. The tech will be more refined, the truck much better and hopefully many supply line issues may be solved so tesla who has the best profit margins in the biz could keep the price down. I think the dual motor will be 75-80k and quad motor 90-100k. Yes I wish the price is lower but always plan to do a little Uber in to pay for it or to use it on Turo. Every Uber driver in Las Vegas makes 100 K or better and that’s the lowest in the car with a Tesla cyber truck nobody’s been in I think people will be climbing in that thing all the time and you can make your money back in six months for the full price

5:41 Tail pipes? Pretty sure it’s primarily because water getting into the engine air intake. The intake meant for air to get put into your engine for combustion… water getting in there stalls your engine. Likely causes long term damage too. So if the water is high enough that it reaches the engine air intake, that’s why it’s bad. Hence why hardcore off road vehicles often have those elephant truck looking engine air intakes sticking up high in the air above the hood or above the whole car. Because most cars have the engine air intake somewhere under the hood, often near a wheel well, low enough that that crossing water a couple feet deep becomes a risk. Not to mention the type of water that Tesla crossed that went over the hood.
He is not very educated in internal combustion engines. You're right, the important thing is that the air intake is above the water line, not the exhaust pipes. There is enough pressure from the exhaust to make it out, easily. Just take a look at motorboats, many have their exhaust pipes below the the water surface. But if your engine sits low you need some kind of bend/water trap, like the one you have under your sink, so that the water does'nt make it to the cylinders when the engine is not running.
@@ai._m No, it is not both. 10 meters of water depth equals 1 bar. A submerged exhaust only need a few millibars of overpressure to work. When you are so deep that the water pressure in the exhaust matters, your air intake was submerged long ago ...
It is also a bad idea of thermally stressing the engine and exhaust manifold by quenching it in water. This is not an issue for EVs.

@@ricinro Please educate me on why it's stressing to cool down the exhaust system/manifold. My naive thought would be that cooling the exhaust makes the exhausts more dense, which leads to less backpressure, which is even preferable for a turbo engine (when it's between the turbo and the atmosphere). Sure, a NA engine is designed to have a certain back pressure but I'm a bit skeptical to that the tolerance level is that sensitive. I mean you can run a NA car engine at an airtemperature of -20 degrees celsius without any problems.
Keep the price low enough to enjoy the government rebate is my vote. After all we have stuck with Tesla Corporation thru thick and thin, and there’s been a lot of that!

The reason cars die in the water is their air intake tube is very low and sucks water up through the intake into the engine creating a Hydro lock…

It's not water blocking the tail pipe that kills the engine, it's water getting sucked into the intake that kills the engine leaving the car dead in the water.
I ordered my Cybertruck August 26th of 2020 and am a bit over #11,000 in the manufactured line. Are tou saying I will pay as much for my wait as someone who ordered this year - over 2 years later? I am supposed to have FSD Grandfathered in at $8,000, w/a 3 Motor Drive... Surely I will get a better price than those ordered in 2021 & 2022???? Right???

It says the price isn't guaranteed when you place your pre-order. The only price that is supposed to be locked in is FSD.

Rather than a separate propeller, wheel hubs that are designed to to produce thrust on the water makes a lot of sense. But a James Bond like separate propeller would be cool too.
Probably wouldn't be very Aerodynamic tho.

My Starlink did not lock the monthly charge in. That happened on the Model 3 also. The final price was higher. At one time it was supposed to be a $20 K car. It is $40 K.

The truck is awesome but I agree that its more than what was said in video. Its going to be between $100k-$200k I think & thats a lot of trucks being produced that will be just setting there in the yards waiting on buyers.

The in house battery cells should bring down cost, pretty much everything about the vehicle is designed to be efficient for production and cost. Why would it be so much more expensive? It was going to have 3 motors with 1 motor being bigger than the other 2, but now it will have 4 smaller motors. I don't understand your reasoning behind saying it will be way more expensive... I calculate they removed the price because they will price it according to demand and competition. If they sell it too high people will buy other options, if they sell too low demand will never end. I think the RWD models will come out first and priced at original price. If Ford can do it, Tesla can. After the initial hype train wears off they will introduce the higher priced ones that will not be too far in pricing, but they made more profit by selling the least costly model first. I believe that was their original plan and I think it would be the smartest plan. If they come out with the most expensive one first they will risk the waiters to cancel their orders and buy something else...
I heard they want to move the high end trucks to the front of the line, and not even make the 2 wheel drive single motor version. So it will be dual motor, tri-motor, and quad-motor. They have to offer the quad as the Rivian, and Hummer are both quad. I just want the tri-motor for the 500 miles of range, I don't need the quad.
@@dalanscott I think the tri-motor wont happen. Most likely it will be RWD, AWD Dual and Quad motor... Do you have an electric now? Why do you need 500 mile range, after 200 miles I need to stop anyway because of bathroom or food/drink for someone. In town driving absolutely no need at all. I think the AWD 2 motor will have a long range option like the model 3...
if i had to guess mabe around $200,000 but with time and improvements in assembly i can see it going town to less that $90,000

How long has this truck been coming? Now he's saying it's going to be a boat-truck with 4 wheel steering,autonomous driving and bullet proof and people are thinking it's going to be less that 100 thousand. REALLY? So instead of just calling the dates and features a lie we'll just say he's being ambitious and underestimating man's ability to meet deadlines. Maybe deadlines can't be met because the bar is too high. Oh..isn't flooded electric cars catching fire in Florida?

Good luck with a "reservation" being considered a price "guarantee". That's the same as waiting in line at Disneyland, just for the ride to malfunction as you get near the front. Feel free to wait in line to sue a company that has many other lawsuits ahead of you that have more legitimate arguements in question (Full Self-Driving?).

Videos are great, but just a heads up. cars are unable to cross a certain depth of water because of the intake sucking water into the engine... why you see 4x4 builds with snorkels along side the A pillar, nothing to do with the exhaust and co2. Not sure if someone commented on this already, if so, disregard

SpaceX has depicted lowering a cybertruck down to the surface of the moon for astronauts. I believe this truck will have an airtight vacuum version for NASA missions. This is the perfect vehicle for the moon and Mars. And what an amazing ad for Tesla vehicles to see them driving on other worlds at lower gravity.
it wouldnt need to be airtight. hell it wouldn't even need doors.

Doesn’t matter if all 4 tires are moving or if just one, if you’re on ice you’re not going anywhere quickly. And if you’re in large mud/water hole floating doesn’t help if the tires are just spinning in the water.

I'm expecting to pay at least 90K for the four motor version, and would hang in with my reservation up to maybe 130K for a fully loaded model with FSD and Starlink.

@@Trahloc See the Marauder go up against a landmine. Just because the American HMMWV fails at this, doesn't mean all military vehicles are subpar for warfare. The MRAP does decently however, since ambush is its sole purpose. The newer JLTV needs more time to prove itself however, but should do much better in this regard compared to the HMMWV it is succeeding.
They have those amphiby cars from the 1960sr that float on water and they are gas powered so these trucks should be no problem

Here are the key points about the 2023 Tesla Cybertruck update from the video:
- The Cybertruck will have 4-wheel steering and 4-motor all-wheel drive. This will make the large vehicle much more maneuverable and capable off-road. (1:19 - 2:30, good news)
- Elon Musk said the Cybertruck will be waterproof enough to briefly serve as a boat and cross bodies of water. This could allow travel between SpaceX facilities without driving around. Actual feasibility is still questionable. (5:28 - 7:45, interesting but uncertain news)
- The Cybertruck will use an exoskeleton design with large steel panels to eliminate the need for a heavy truck frame. This, plus the structural battery pack and gigacastings, will reduce weight and complexity. (8:55 - 11:21, good news)
- Tesla's new 9000-ton gigapress is completed and shipping to Texas for Cybertruck production. This confirms they are still moving forward, though the timeline is uncertain. (11:59 - 13:11, good news)
- Elon Musk claims production will start mid-2023, but his timelines are consistently too ambitious. The factory and equipment status suggests this could be more realistic than past claims. (13:47 - 14:19, optimistic but uncertain timeline)
- Pricing is unknown but will definitely exceed the originally advertised $69k maximum price, possibly by a large margin, due to features and inflation. (14:52 - 15:23, uncertain news on pricing)
The Cyber truck's GigaPress has arrived from Italy. End of story, beginning of production.
I'm at a point where I need one ton class towing performance. Might pull the deposit and invest in Atlis instead

When Elon mentioned a floating CT he may have been telling us the CT has fly-by-wire proportional steering and electronic braking (no hydraulics). If you eliminate places where water can get into the bed and cabin then waterproofing is done on the lower parts of the doors, tailgate and around the battery pack/ seat assy that is installed from the bottom. So while it is not officially mentioned there is a possibility that there will be independent steering, electronic braking, torque and electronic suspension for each wheel that could actually reduce costs.
Don't dream about this being licensed Coast Guard approved watercraft but sure fording slow moving streams and swamps/ponds offers utility rarely considered.
I bet all four wheels are the same portal axel waterproof motor
I believe the fully loaded Tesla truck will be going for close to $100,000 or more.Consider the fact that Chevy and Ford trucks go for that price fully loaded already.

I still hope the two-motor version is available. I don't need all the fancy stuff, not even the FSD. I'm old-school and love the hands-on driving experience. Not to mention if the price hits $70k then I'm pretty sure I'm out on getting one. Kind of sucks because even since I toured NASA in the 60's and watched a Saturn 5 launch our men to the moon, I've been dreaming of the day EV's would be a reality. I'm holding on to my Hummer H3, which I love but will gladly replace it with this ride.
4 years from now they might offer the dual motor. Every construction worker after experiencing this thing will wonder WTF am I driving an pansy ass f-150 for? 😂

Not gonna happen. I reserved inside of the first 24 hours and I’m. It expecting it with a reservation number of 249,562. People are funny. A quad motor will be sold first for years. Trimotor and dual won’t be scaled for years.

A prop extended through the receiver hitch could some day be an option though it is as far fetched as the 1961 Amphicar. Yeah, Lyndon Johnson had one but a Cybertruck similarly equipped ought not to be a consideration in discussing what Cybertrucks will list for.

Maybe we all need to wait until a CT is actually produced and delivered to a customer and a video is made with that customer driving it. The EV world no longer believes any of these promises that we keep hearing. Let's just hope that the SEMI is actually delivered to Pepsi in December (only 2 weeks away in case anyone is counting). I'll believe that when I see it.
My gut says he sells it for just under 100k 99,969 for the 4 motor variant I don't think he wants to get over 100k for this one.

I am just curious to know the life time of the batteries and how easy would it be to replace the batteries. Otherwise this promises to a revolutionary truck.

I knew when I spent the $100 on the queue the price wasn’t locked in. No surprise there. Why be upset? I think the single motor 2WD version will start around $50K but virtually nobody’s interested in a single motor. The dual motor 4WD will be the most popular with three motors a close second. Realistically a dual motor I’d bet will avg $75K, three motor $90K and a four motor fully equipped will be $130K.
Good luck with those prices, it will be close if not over 100k for a base model
@@wasupfool5692 - We’ll see. With Ford already selling its electric truck’s base at $50k I seriously doubt a six figure base model Cybertruck. I stand by what I said. The two-motor AWD will be the sweet spot. Most people seem to have no problem ponying up $75k these days. But again, we will see.

Price ? If the range is less than 600 miles, I will pass regardless of the price. When all is said and done, it's just a vehicle. Lots of people around here spend 70k on a new pickup. Now that we've seen Tesla drop prices over night by significant amounts, that makes me think, whatever they ask, it should be 10k less... Also, it's going to be so new and tesla customer service is so bad especially when you live outside of a big city...I'm slowly talking myself out of buying one. We will first see if they are even organized enough to contact people on their preorder list. The website hasnt changed in months. If it wasn't Tesla you would figure they were going out of business, but I guess the website is just a reflection of their overall poor customer service.

I am super excited about my ordered Cybertruck, I ordered late in the game when it didn't even show any price, so I'm sure I'll have to decide if I want the probably Over $100,000. 3 or 4 motor version(which I think Elon said the 3 motor version is perfect in itself so why have a 4 motor version that sucks more battery and limits the vehicle?) Anyways, I guess I'll have more time to save up for the most expensive purchase of my life. Must build a new business to make more money to buy this awesome machine!
