This must be the ‘go to’ video for every T7 owner. Why Yamaha haven’t done this as standard is bizarre. Such a cool hack 👍🏼🙏
Pinned to the top of the comments 🙏👍🏼😎
Some safety directive in the US or Europe I reckon…
Just sold my Africa Twin and bought a T7 “today” and you sir are a star for sharing this seat hack…
Masons Rugged Roads … you’re more than welcome … 🙏 thanks for coming to the channel. Congrats on the T7, it’s epic. Did you get the ‘22 model? 😃
@@TheRiderGuider picked up a late 21 model, it’s epic…
Excellent! Thanks so much for sharing - I can't think of anyone who would not adopt this as their practice.
Thanks Ric. I agree. Seems to be a very simple tool free option 😎👍🏼
Brilliant. Thanks for putting on UA-cam. Just got my T7 today and seat hack done! Cheers.
You got it!!!! Congrats mate. Hopefully you will be soon able to ride anywhere and when you want 🤞🏼 keep in touch and let me know how you’re going on it 😃👍🏼
This is awesome Neal - people are sharing your vid like crazy on FB - well done, Mate - going out to set this on mine.
Haha that explains my stats! Quite a bit of traffic to my channel from FB and I’m not even on it 😁 … it’s been a useful bit of content it seems 👍🏼 cheers mate
Holy Cow! This is awesome and simple! With the cost savings Now I have more money for beer! A toast to you! I really like the stock seat.
☺️👍🏼 cheers Eric 🍻
The perfect hack. Easy, free, and works a treat. Cheers!
Cheers Monte. Thanks for visiting the channel 🙂👍🏼
Thank you! Just did the hack after a buddy with a T7 hacked his seat & sent me your video!
Good work Ryan. Got a lot more on the T7 coming in the future. Ride safe mate 👍🏼😎
Awesome man cheers , I’d heard about it but didn’t know how until now 👍
Thanks Nick - enjoy your Tenere and keep in touch :-)
Did mine today, thanks for the information. I hope to get out with you one day.
Won’t be long Martin. I’ve got a group ride planned 😉👍🏼
Brilliant👍 I picked up my new Tenere yesterday and will be doing this tomorrow, cheers
Congrats on the new bike mate. Enjoy.
@@TheRiderGuider Cheers fella, appreciated. Great channel by the way👍

Picking a T7 up next weekend. Item one to do on the list!
Thank you! This is Very useful. I'll be doing this "upgrade" directly.
Thanks for sharing, great and simple 👍
Thanks John
Thank you! just did my seat! Awesome hack

Impressively simple solution. Thank you.

Genius! Thank you for sharing mate!
You’re welcome mate. Someone also mentioned to make sure the rubber grommets are turned around to perfectly fit the posts 😃👍🏼
That’s a GREAT idea! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for visiting my channel Bill 😎👍🏼
Thanks for this, saves me buying a seat joining kit.
You’re welcome John 😃👍🏼
Done. Wish I'd seen this before I bought the Rally Raid solution. I was never happy with the Rally Raid solution as you can feel the pillion seat binding on the top of the pegs when you fit it and there is wear on the seat material where it wraps around the plastic base. There is no binding with this hack. Thanks mate.
Haha yeh it's good mate, another slight improvement is to turn the rubber gromets around too on the seat, there's a little lip on them and it will seat even nicer 🙂
Thanks for sharing! Defenitly a great hack!
Cheers Otto 👍🏼
Thanks Pal! So simple.
You're welcome Jac - thanks for watching :-)
Ingenious! Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching Felixir 👍🏼😎
Great idea! Thanks for sharing!!
You’re welcome 😉 thanks for watching 👍🏼
I subbed . Thought you were going to show us how to lower it an inch or so . Had to have the dealership put the lowering linkage on but not the lower seat option . After a couple 1-2 mph tip overs as I was turning sharp and slowly I thought well I better just get it lowered . She's a top heavy bike and even though I am 6' tall I have short legs and a tall torso . Just now have it at the first 600 mile service so once I have it back I can relax a bit watching the tach . One thing is for sure is the stock tires are poop offroad or at least in my aunt's flat 5 acre gopher hole riddled field , felt like riding on ice . Was laughing the whole time !
Well thanks for joining my modest channel 🙏 ... appreciated. I’ve been riding decades but actual off road and proper adventure riding is a newer experience for me. I’m surrounding myself with some seriously good riders and learning quick, one of the things that surprised me was how low they have their tyre (tire) pressures. 12 - 15 psi when they’re on the loose stuff. Made quite the difference with my standard rubber, but I will definitely be going with some more aggressive tread in the near future 👍🏼 ...
As for seat height, it’s a minefield for people finding the right personal set-up. No one person is the same, I’m more than comfortable with the standard height and I’m barely 5’8” and 70kgs!
Update mate, Yamaha are going to release a lower Rally seat now as well, slim profile.
Great solution, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching Francisco 👍🏼
Yup I did the same thing except just screwed the bolts from the bottom and just used them as a post. I must say yours seems cleaner
Nice one, either way is good I reckon 😉👍🏼
Brilliantly simple!
👍🏼 thanks for watching ... best UA-cam name ever 😂👍🏼🤣
Brilliant 👏
Thx 4 sharing the information

Thanks man. Just did it 👊
You’re welcome GMAN 🙂👍🏼
Excellent idea Mate, they should have come like that from the factory.
I agree, I did it before my first service and I discovered they'd changed it back when I got it home after the 1000km check LOL. Suffice to say, it's now staying hacked LOL.
Getting my T7 in January. Subscribed.
Enjoy the anticipation of knowing it's coming in January. It won't disappoint you, and it gets better the more you ride it! Keep in touch :-)
You got it mate?
@@TheRiderGuider no, Yamaha pushed their deliveries to the dealer by a month so fingers crossed I’ll be seeing it before long. It’s not ideal riding weather right now in northern New Mexico anyway so I’m keeping busy watching vids and planning mods and excursions. Thanks for asking!
Genius, thanks for sharing!!!✊️👊✊️👊
Thanks Skip :-)
Best bike hack ever!👍
haha THANK YOU, I'm amazed it is still helping people out.
I’m off to the garage to do,that now ! Thx
Good work, cheers Andy. Enjoy that T7!
Genius, cheers mate I will be using that set up 👍
Thanks mate, hope you enjoy the T7 as much as I am. Thanks for stopping by my channel 😎
Subd ya. I’ll be watching your stuff 😃
@@TheRiderGuider You're welcome, I appreciate the seat hack, really useful bud. So far I've had my T7 just a couple of weeks and in the main only had the chance to do commuter miles to London. I love the T7 already and I cant wait to do abit more. I am still deciding what crash bars I to get, I like the look of the Touratech. Did you manage to get the yammy oem ones?
Best Regards,

Tnx for this mate. Good hack
Thanks for visiting my channel Bryan 👍🏼 ... keep an eye out for a couple more things I have in the pipeline coming soon 🙂
Great job!
It’s such a good little trick 👍🏼🙂 cheers mate.
very good, any advice on a good aftermarket seat, Sargent maybe?
Hi mate, I’m standard seat to be honest. I’ve heard the Yamaha Rally seat is good but probably for taller riders. Not me at 5’8” 😁
Awesome stuff mate! Where abouts in Oz are you mate. Keen for a ride on my T7👍
CHEERS! I'm in SA mate south of Adelaide. Where are you?
@@TheRiderGuider thanks mate, I'm in Sydney😔 oh well. On the big OZ trip I might have to come past and say Gday.
Thankyou for all your videos especially on the T7💯🤗
We will definitely get over east at some point ;-)
in Greece they did it straight from the dealership for me.. and just informed laters.. cant complain 😂
Haha that is fantastic. Cheers mate 🙂
Nice thanks for sharing,👍👍
Thanks for visiting the channel Gil Zr :-)
Nice one! Cheers!
you're welcome mate cheers
Right on!
Haha, thanks mate.
Thank you !!
You're welcome Darrell :-D
Just got my black sT(7)allion 😊
I’m thinking opposite: I want to delay as much as possible the thief looking to get to my battery and tracker… so looking to replace that standard allen bolt with something more exotic and needless to say cary that wrench on me at all times 😅😅
Cheers
🍻🍻
Yeh I reckon that is dependent on theft potential. I’m lucky that I rarely have to leave my bike unattended and not many suffer that type if theft. Enjoy the T7. Great club to join.
Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome THANKS for visiting my channel 😃
Brilliant!
👍🏼😎 thanks mate
great stuff, i hope the manufacturers take note, we shouldn't need to use a tool for basic stuff
I agree. Thanks mate 😊👍🏼

Thanks for sharing, I just got a new Tenere and was annoyed by the seat. Just went out to the garage and did this hack in 2 minutes, problem solved.
Awesome mate, enjoy the new Ténéré and keep in touch 👏🏼👍🏼😀
Brilliant. 👍🏻
Cheers Jeffro, ride safe mate.
Thanks! Now i have to buy a Tenere to do this hack on!!!!!!
Do it Brian 👍🏼😁 lol.
@@TheRiderGuider I am seriously considering this bike. I own a 2017 Kawasaki Versys 1000 and an 08 Honda Goldwing, so i have to let one go. I just test rode the Kawasaki klx 300 and it just felt too underpowered and too small for me. Thanks!
@@brianwest5348 I'll be working on a video soon to explain why the T7 is such a great option ... I'm a busy person and wanted to have a few bikes to play out on but since getting mine I sold my other bike after I realised I'd always choose to throw my leg over the T7. It's that good I'll probably never look at a road bike again. Get a ride on one. Take your deposit with you :-D
Thank you.
Nice.
Thanks! :-)
Clever!
It makes life a little easier mate. Cheers.
Thanks!
Thank you for watching 👍🏼😎
Brilliant hack...
Thanks for watching Glenn :-)

Thanks for joining my channel @GHOST888 🙂👍🏼
Thx so much. The stock setup was really annoying and a risk if the stupid key got lost.
you're welcome - thanks for watching.
great 👍👍
You're welcome mate, what year T7 do you have? Wondering if this works for the 2022 onwards or the WR? ...
@@TheRiderGuider thanks , I have T7 2022 I bought it 2 weeks ago and yep it works very well 👍👍👍👍
@@nomad8160 excellent - thanks mate
@@TheRiderGuider 😉😉
Thanks
Thanks for watching Lucky 👍🏼🙂
Please give some thought on how to reduce seat hight!!
Haha. YEH 👍🏼 thanks for watching. I think the best and cheapest option maybe to get the Yamaha lower suspension links. They aren’t expensive. I’m not tall at all, and the more I ride the less I feel I need to lower it. So I suggest stick with it as standard if you can. I love the fact it’s the standard height and I’m less than 173cm tall. How tall are you?
@@TheRiderGuider 170cms.
@@piuvbn have you joined the T7 forum? www.tenere700.net/ ... some good information on here.
I turned the rubber grommets round so they seat onto the top hat spacers.
works a treat mate, yes Seat Hack 2.0
Thanks👌👍
You’re welcome Richard. Thanks for visiting my channel 😎❤️
I also turned my rubber grommets around... fits better
Thanks Michael, I’ll be doing that 😃👍🏼
Ingeniously simple. Hacked engineering 😁
😎 had to be shared 😀
A yamaha mechanic got mad at me when I wanted him to refit the bolts like this...any idea why this would be potentially dumb? Maybe going offroad could unseat them or something like that?
I ride mostly off road, being that I was one of the first to do this three years ago, I’ve not had one issue. No risk.
Cool 😎
Thanks for visiting my channel mate. Ride safe 🙂👍🏼
Genius!
Thanks for watching Johnny :-)

You also should turn the rubber upside down! Than it is perfekt.
@@peternesuta3684 awesome mate - great idea :-D
That is just damn clever!!! What's on the other side of your Yamaha Tenere? Is that a Honda?
Hey MB 👍🏼 that will be my Triumph Sprint ST1050 😃
It’s gathering dust 😳
Thx
Thanks Leo 👍🏼🙂
Whats your height and inseam? Looking to get this bike but nervous about the height and being in lockdown I can't try one.
Zak, hello mate, this is an interesting question that definitely needs some consideration. Firstly, I’m 172cm (not tall), my inseam ... just had Mrs Rider Guider measure from my crotch to the floor whilst wearing my trusty Adidas Samba, 76cm. Now, of course, we have to look at a few other things, I weigh 70kgs, heavier riders will of course utilise (squash down) more suspension travel, and the standard T7 has some ‘sag’ to take into consideration which takes up some of the travel even without sitting on it. On my test ride, I initially found the bike quite tall, tip toes, but the more I rode, the less this became an issue, I’ve been around a while on two wheels and nowadays have no issue with any bike height (just lucky to have ridden a lot of different stuff) so wouldn’t consider even going for the lowered suspension but that is an option that isn’t expensive. What’s your height/inseam etc?
Test ride > ua-cam.com/video/zW4q5rQJ0MM/v-deo.html
@@TheRiderGuider yeah I'm around the same as you 78cm inseam, 173cm height and 74 kg. Looking to get the lowered seat instead of messing with the suspension.
You’ll be fine mate, it gets more comfortable the more you ride it. If you’ve been riding a while and pretty confident, I’d suggest going standard height for a couple of weeks or maybe until your first service, you might (like me) decide it’s just fine as is? You’ll love it either way. Not expensive going for the lowered option I don’t think though.
@@TheRiderGuider Yeah gonna take a test ride once lockdown is over and see what the height is like, thanks for the info anyway bud keep up the good work 👍
@@zakw4110 mate, dealer just told me that Yamaha are releasing a lower slimmer profile rally seat too. That might just be perfect 👌🏼
Great thanks for sharing can't believe there's 12 tubes out there disliked this video
Haha THANK YOU :-) yes maybe these dislikes are from the few people that bought a kit or even make a kit to do this and this little hack has upset the apple cart a little ;-) at least there is a strong showing of likes :-D
Doesnt everyone end up getting a more comfortable seat anyway?
Nah. Well I haven’t. Yet.
Nice hack
Thanks Mark 👍🏼
Mine cost a buck thirty as my allen's came with a flange on them so I had to run down to the hardware store and buy 2 more w/o the flange to make it work. Lol wonder if yamaha was aware and started to use flange allen's to thwart this
Now that’s interesting. Maybe so. My bike’s got a build date of 07/2020. What’s the build date on yours? Any later?
@@TheRiderGuider 8/2020
also oddly enough. mine did not have the allen wrench attached under the seat. the fitment is there but no wrench
Is it still holding up good ? I'm wondering after a year, do you still think this is a good idea ?
Absolutely mate. Thanks for watching. Yes. Had no problem at all 👍🏼😎
@@TheRiderGuider Great ! thx ! All the best mate. Cheers from Egypt.

but i want my bike to be MORE complicated - can you please share a hack to make it MORE difficult to take the seat off? :P :P
Haha ... I think what we love about the T7 is it’s almost perfect in its simplicity 🤩 ... 😎 THANKS for watching mate 🙌🏼
Great idea. Thanks. Dilated pupils and all.
Haha - cheers mate, ride safe ;-)
yeah... putting a SKWOOSH sheep cover (small) over my seat and need to get it on/off frequently... helps out and of course u can unhack at will! Toodles!
Haha good man … I’ll look them up! I’ve been going all sheepskin in my campervan recently 😄
