When I hear stories like this you know the State isn't taking care of their people...... that's a complex problem but all our States need to reevaluate their budgets & Cut Out the fat so they can give proper pay/benefits to Troopers. I've seen a lot of problems w/ Troopers across the Country where they hire less qualified people because of shortages in good people. And it's more than just that but I hope they work it out for every bodies sake.
They're mostly road pirates, just take money from hardworking citizens with minor traffic violations. I'd be fine for city and state police to reduce in number and power, and sheriff's to take more responsibility. Sheriffs are directly elected, unlike any other LEO.
@@heightsofsagarmatha You realize, most local agencies are more responsible with civil rights in this state than county agencies? Charleston County, Sheriff has been elected since 1980, the agency makes the most arrests in the entire state but has the lowest conviction ratings. North Charleston, Charleston, Mt Pleasant, and Greenville have taken a lot of steps to become socially active and implanted civil review boards. In Greenville County, that has yet to occur and the Sheriff used department equipment to make a political ad for Lindsay Graham. The South Carolina Highway Patrol has a responsibility to ensure the most high-quality policing standards, they are responsible for conducting Law Enforcement operations in rural areas, enforcing safety standards in construction zones, and ensuring the highways remain safe. But due to tickets becoming a high priority by command staff, and illegal quotas, most Troopers are leaving for city agencies that are ethical, have better pay, and expect their Officers to ensure the law while protecting the rights of citizens, instead of only focusing on traffic citations as it seems. It has been shown time and time again that corrupt police chiefs are easily removed in this state by SLED, Court orders for convictions, and city government removal. As a Sheriff, you have a less chance being held accountable, and that is exactly what is happening in Charleston County.
@@mrpoliceemsfire1 Actually I think that's incorrect, it's the city ones that act like enforcers for the mayor/city council/city manager/whoever's their bus. With the sheriff there is boss, he/she answers directly to the people. When they get insulated a few layers from direct accountability to the citizenry it gets very difficult to account. Worse at the federal level.
They should have the sheriff's offices throughout the state in metro areas to having, their own traffic division to work wrecks like they way how they do in other states.
If their not to busy dealing in corrupt practices like former SALUDA SC sheriff Jason booth. Or FLORENCE sheriff Kenneth Boone. Oh the whole entire CALHOUN FALLS, SC city police.
@@GrayGray72Gamez it needs to be like that, to help save lives. Here where I'm at in Georgia, they relied on both county sheriff offices, and local counties, cities, and towns police force here in Georgia. They also don't depend on Georgia State Patrol to much, but every now & then, especially if they needed their assistance on a certain traffic situations.
Ive called in over 12 potential drunk drivers, as soon as they switch me over to HP I know their want be any no where near where i am, so I hang up. SCHP is the most useless Dept. in SC
LOL ... I was wondering where all of this belly-aching was leading to. Finally we get there. Please allow us SC citizens to take the law into our own hands. We got this.
I feel sorry for them it's sad really.

They’re afraid for the public’s safety because they’re afraid to do their jobs. I guess they’re only hero’s when the conditions are just right!
They need to be scared, like the citizen that was hassles by their criminal bad cops started it all,
