      Hi. Does this method works wether the avocado is ripe or not. For how long should a ripe avocado be left in the water and the refrigerator. Thanks

    Awesome hack, hadn't ever heard of putting them in water before. That's really helpful, because when you go to the store, you never know if you are going to get ripe or unripe avocados. And I LOVE guacamole, so this tip is everything. :)

    I’m so glad I ran across this one today I am always having trouble with the avocados looking terrible when I open them open them up they go from hard to rotten seems like overnight I get so upset I never knew about this trick about putting it in water in the refrigerator to let it ripen for a couple days I will definitely try it and let you know what I thought in a video about the flavor and give you credit for it I will tell you because this is one thing I am always having trouble with hugs and kisses from grandma Sandy and Debbie

    Great Hack, we are always using these for guacamole 🥑 but June tends to get them on the day we need them & spends hours in the supermarkets finding the perfect ones that are guacamole ready🤔😳😜 I’ll show her this see if she wants to change her ways 🤣 Hope your all keeping well & having a fun weekend 👍🥰😍xx

    That’s interesting. I usually put my avocados in the fridge, as soon as they are ripe. Not in water. Just in a bowl. They seem to last a good long time that way, but I have never tried in water. Since I’m the only who will eat avocados, I often have to put them back in the fridge after I cut them open. Misfits Market had on their website, that after you open it, you should put the exposed part face down in a bowl of water. That seems to work pretty well, too. 👍

    Hi! New friend here watching 😊

  • @jeannemcmillintwinlakeses3767

    My friend pulled a jar with two avocados in water out of the fridge and I looked at her like she had lost it! She had seen this somewhere and this was her test. These two avocados had been sealed up in the jar of water for 2 WEEKS! They were perfect, of course they are going to still be firm because they are cold but the color a flavor were perfect.

  • @Bekind95

    This works by just leaving them in the fridge on their own. Take one out at a time the night before, sometimes takes 2 days out to be ready. The water idea may be a good hack if you have a cut piece rather than the whole avocado.

    It does work, My longest was 3 weeks. The only thing is once you take it out of water and cut it, you have to eat them right away

    I tried putting still firm avocados in clean cold water and in the fridge, changed the water daily........after 5 days we made guac and yes they were still green but deceivingly they tasted awful. Extra seasoning and lemon could not mask or fix the rotten taste.

      @@Thesmallerhalf No kidding! We live in the Wilderness just outside Sequoia National Park. It’s an 80 mile round trip to decent shopping. Until I discovered this hack, I was reluctant to buy Avocados. I hate to see expensive produce go bad.

    Have you tried keeping it like this for years?

  • @jamesbong4978
    @jamesbong4978 Рік тому

    I mean you could just put one in the fridge without water & I'm sure it'll still take longer to spoil. if you wana do an accurate test, instead of leaving 1 on the side you should stick it in the fridge. Feels like it's made this whole "hack" pointless because of obvious results. That's how fridges work :/

    • @Thesmallerhalf
      @Thesmallerhalf  Рік тому +1

      😂 love your comment. I think it has something to do with the water that keeps it from getting soft? You are correct though , I’m sure the fridge itself would help preserve it longer than the countertop 😊

    • @jamesbong4978
      @jamesbong4978 Рік тому

      @@Thesmallerhalf there was a part exposed to the air in your fridge that looked browner than the rest so I'm sure there is something to it. lol glad you found my comment amusing, I couldn't help but point it out lol. was worried it may come across as rude but the truth needed to be said
