    TY for making this video. I will say this. When a certain big UA-camr was shilling Toys Wonderland for MANY years and knowing how sketchy and downright terrible they were, he finally moved on to another overseas company. He got called out for it so many times, I think social pressure made him move to just another company. I also never felt true transparency with him since he got a major discount or free in some cases. It's easy to recommend a $300 plus figure to someone when he got it free or a major discount. I know for myself, this brought doubt on to other YT channels (not yours) where it was sponsored and I had doubts on his opinion entirely. Being transparent and upfront (like yourself and others) helps us collectors retain trust since y'all are the first to get these figures and review them.

      @hadrifter25 Місяць тому +4

      I agree with you in most of your comment, is very detailed and respectful, you didn't even mention him but we know exactly who you are referring, we can agree that he took a little too long to tap the brakes to jump out of that association with that company and kept naming them, but allow me to play the devil's advocate because for one: a youtuber does not control or have all the information about his associate, even worse when their are miles apart, and second it belongs to us the collectors to analyse and search a trustworthy reseller to finally make a purchase, i do give you however that listening in every video the same promotion gets catchy and could influence you, that's why he was also "guilty" but he had the courage to try to make it right and ask for excuses because he knew it was wrong. And yeah i don't think he is super honest in the reviews either i watch them but i take the informations carefully and the opinions are that : opinions. Beside all this i try to read the comments to know if someone had a particular issue, i was well aware of the problems toyswndl was having thus i refrained from buying. Nowadays it's difficult to find someone blunt honest and straight not only in our hobby but in every aspect of life, and that's sad. I think genuinely that Will is very honest and that's why i follow this channel along with Optical20 since a while now.
      Greetings everyone from 🇨🇭 .

      Justin is controversial insofar as his past affiliation with TW is concerned. To me, he is a good person who made a mistake. We all make those, and all we can do is try to make amends after we've made them. I feel he's tried to do that, so it just depends on if you're willing to forgive. If not, I totally get and respect that, especially if you were burned badly by TW. I communicated with Justin about this often and I think he was just in a bit too deep, despite most around him telling him he should probably part ways. I don't really care for pop collectibles either, but I think it's in Justin's hands at this point as to which direction he goes next. From my perspective, he is a good person who has made mistakes, but I think we all can say that about ourselves, maybe just not on the same scale.

      Haha thanks bro! I think my unwillingness to discuss the gossip behind the scenes is a reason you support too, I bet! There are certain content creators I don't care much for, but 95% of them I have great respect and admiration for. The primary reason I don't care for that 5% is because they often attack me and other content creators (I feel unjustly, without any legitimacy whatsoever) for views and clicks. @WillFoxification  Місяць тому

      Thanks so much, Austin! To be completely honest, these claims are made by fellow content creators in a desperate attempt to delegitimatize the work I do on this channel. These claims could be made for a variety of reasons, but usually, in my opinion, they stem from a competitive instinct to de-platform "competitors". The claims are often verifiably false, easily so, but people don't have the time, nor the inclination to do so.

    There's perks and in a sense it can help "fund" the hobby...but it's effort and time consuming. You have to enjoy it--filming, editing, coming up with ideas...if it was extremely easy to create a UA-cam presence everyone would do it. It's "simple" to do but it takes a lot of a consistency and effort that people don't see. The fact there's some financial gain is an incentive to continue, I wouldn't do my day job for less than what I make...my incentive to do better are raises and promotions. No need to be shamed by it nor should people shame it. Go do it and stop hating those who are.

    • @WillFoxification
      @WillFoxification  29 днів тому +1

      This for sure. It requires a lottttttt of work that people don't see. The statement that a content creator in the 1:6 hobby is primarily, or exclusively motivated by money is a statement originated from ignorance. I don't mean that in an offensive sense, just purely as a factual statement.
      It's a little bit of money that can help fund the hobby, sure, but it certainly requires far more hours than most would deem reasonable for the revenue earned. Unfortunately, these sorts of allegations are levied by a small niche of content creators and weaponized towards their "competition" to instigate drama to boost traffic to their own channels. It's unfortunate, but certainly not a reality specific to our niche hobby. It's a common tactic found across most industries where reputation matters. It's much easier to aim your efforts at de-platforming your peers than competing with them.

    • @purestewage
      @purestewage 29 днів тому +1

      @WillFoxification 100%, there's certain youtubers that rhyme with kenobi who live off the negative (even though they have decent collecting takes at times). • @WillFoxification
      @WillFoxification  Місяць тому +1

      Haha not sure it'd fit within the scope of this channel, but I'll answer here!
      My first tattoo is a combination of elements/relics from The Last of Us Part I & II. I love both games and everything from the tattoo stems and ties back to Joel & Ellie's relationship. It will always be my favorite series, and the first one will forever be my favorite game.
      The second tatoo is inspired by the song "Look at the Sky" by Porter Robinson. I took the lyrics and most of the elements from the music video and had the artist create a cool design. That song is my favorite because it's about hope and inspiring yourself to recover from your failures, trauma, and other factors that try to keep you down. Reminding yourself you can "make something good" keeps you going, so the song resonates with me in that way. ua-cam.com/video/PuMz4v5PYKc/v-deo.html

    Other than promoting TWL, Justin sugarcoated every figure like it's a must have and best ever made, even though it's not. I feel we want a reviewer to doesn't give a damn about promoting figures for ppl to buy. Give credit when its due, but at the same time express frustration on behalf of us when its a big let down. Like Inart, they dragging all these phase 1 figures and announcing random figures, LOTR line still not completed, BVS still not completed, yet they announced all harry porter big 3. This is ridiculous and I think you guys as content creator should constantly call them out for this issue.

    • @WillFoxification

    I’ve been wondering lately about how some Hot Toys UA-camrs have tens of thousands (or even over 100k) subscribers but only have around 1-2k views for every video? Seems fishy.

    • @WillFoxification
      @WillFoxification  Місяць тому +1

      This is due to shorts content. Shorts viewers don't watch long-form content, generally. So a creator who makes a lot of shorts can accumulate a subscriber base more quickly, but their overall engagement may be low on long-form content. It's like two different audiences, essentially.

  • @FIGSCAVE

    Can someone explain how Man of Hot collectibles acquired 100k UA-cam subs over a weekend 🤣

    • @WillFoxification
      @WillFoxification  Місяць тому

      A lot of creators are using UA-cam shorts to obtain subscribers in an expedited fashion. This is a strategy that is highly effective if you create a short that people like. I don't do shorts often because the goal for me is to create engaging long-form content here on UA-cam. If I get shorts subscribers, 90% of them will be disengaged with my main content and that's not what I want, personally. Sometimes YT will push your short content instead of your long-form, which I don't want either. Just different approaches.

    • @WillFoxification
      @WillFoxification  Місяць тому

      To clarify, no approach is right or wrong, it just depends on your goals for making content and fostering a community. The shorts route is one approach, and it works quite well to that end.

    Great video will. But I think it’s only the beginning. I watch you because I find your content honest and engaging and I find you as transparent as you can be. I do have more questions. Like why is the rotation on The Friday live stream often limited to the same people? I do like them but I know you used to stream with Lael back in the day and I never see him on here. Justin appears more often on the stream. Did something happen between you and Lael or does the schedule never work out? Given you said that you’re not making money doing this anything I bet you’re losing money if anything, it still makes me wonder how someone like Justin can afford literally every figure that comes out. There’s very few he doesn’t buy. I think there’s impressionable people out there who think if someone like him Can buy everything, I should be able to. I Know this part of it is private but It might be useful disclose how he does things because he has a lot of influence Going behind that curtain could help people realize that What he does is singular and not recommended. We don’t want to be sending people to the poor house

    • @WillFoxification

      Thanks bro! These are good questions.
      The panel limitations are mostly a product of what I mentioned in the video. Tribalism exists in our hobby because when it comes to UA-cam there are a lot of personalities and creative decisions to manage when creating content. It becomes significantly more complex the more people you bring into the fold. Everyone has their own motivations and ambitions and we haven't even mentioned chemistry yet. Chemistry is crucial for an entertaining show. I usually elect for Dean & Natalie because they work really well with Keco and I. I've even noticed increased comfort Keco has with them over other panelists he isn't as familiar with, he's never communicated this, though. This isn't to say other panelists aren't excellent also (Riley, Marco, Jose, Ben & others).
      Lael and I was mostly a timing issue. His show starts at 9:15 pm and I am usually in bed at 9 pm since I wake up at 5 am. Lael is an awesome and highly entertaining content creator, but it also became evident over time that we wanted to go different directions with our shows. We preferred to talk about different things in the realm of collecting, which is totally reasonable. He and I are still cool. No animosity whatsoever.
      I'm definitely losing money every year. My camera and lens alone were over $5,000. I may not even make that much revenue in the entirety of 2024. Justin likely has better terms than I do with retailers. He's farrrrrrr bigger and more successful than I am, so he can offer a retailer much more. I think Justin does a pretty good job showcasing the figure and telling people to do their own research and be responsible, especially these days.

      Thanks so much for taking so much time to answer my questions. You guys are all good dudes. It's cool to get some of that insight between the UA-camrs and what they think about each other and what the politics are. Not so much actual beef between people but like where do the conflicts start you know what I mean like what are the issues? It's like a lot of people have their own little groups and I guess that comes with the territory and that's the only way you can work it but it would be cool to see a video on like what hot toys collectors who are UA-camrs commonly disagree on, keeping it general. Like what leads to conflict in the community this seems like a pretty benign hobby and there's not that much to fight about. As for Justin, the dude is the goat when it comes to the reviews. Everyone is chasing him. He has learned his lesson and become better at telling people to be more responsible which is great but it would be cool if he did a video of like the economics of affording these figures. I heard in Australia there's some program with your mortgage that allows you to afford it which he has mentioned before but I don't really get it. Anyways everybody is doing great and I do have my Mount Rushmore of UA-camrs which includes you, keco, Justin, Lael and Dean Knight that guy's stuff is always so thorough. I also like how he goes behind the scenes on a lot of the problems that he has with hot toys in terms of you know things breaking and how to fix them. I wish there was more of that. Too many of you guys make it look easy and it's not always. Anyways man you're the man and definitely someone I would want to be friends with in real life if that were possible.

    Great video bro I enjoyed it. I’m defo a collector first. I just like to show my collection off and long as I get 50 views a video I’m happy as I don’t have that many friends too show it too. If subs come then awesome. I enjoy interacting with other collectors like your self who don’t beat around the bush say it how it is. Buying hot toys ain’t cheap as I’m in uk so if I was told it was a great figure then it wasn’t it be a waste so watching people who say the truth helps a lot

    Some of these "Influencers" are hacks! One in particular likes to blatantly take ideas and techniques from lesser-known people who make videos and passes them off as if it were his own in their videos. Or the ones who take a whole video and make a video off of them ( I.E The Jazz Inc 1989 bat mobile update video) Joost already made a video, but these hacks take his video and basically show it while narrating it. SMH! Like the writers in Hollywood. Not a single original idea! Content creator my eye! 😂😂😂!

      Lael and I have remained cool to this day. We stopped, mostly, because I got into a new workout routine where I wake up at 5 am and I go to bed around 9 pm. His streams start at 9:15 pm, and he was unable to move the time earlier for me. I think we also just wanted different things for our streams, so it made sense to go our own ways.

    Will, while you say its not about the money and you have to buy the hot toys first, you are going to buy them anyways as that is your hobby, and the revenue from this channel soften the financial blows does it not? While we are transparent.

    • @WillFoxification
      @WillFoxification  Місяць тому +2

      This is a good question. The revenue from the channel certainly does lessen the financial blow, inarguably. It depends on the specific figure, though. Some figures I will buy because I want to experience them, expand my knowledge, and share my thoughts. Maybe I will display them for awhile, but I may not have bought them otherwise. InArt Batman, for example. That review made me $16.
      If I'm buying a figure regardless, then yeah, any bit of revenue helps. My new red and blue suit spider-man made me $10, so the reduction of the financial impact is...very minimal. I only can accumulate funds because of my extensive body of work (videos).

    • @WillFoxification
      @WillFoxification  Місяць тому +2

      Also, this is such a good question it demands a follow-up. A review also takes up days of my time. I could spend that time doing what everyone else does, but I choose to spend it doing a review to try to build something I'm proud of, and also share my opinion that will hopefully help others make informed decisions. The revenue from a review for me is almost a non-factor in my process.
