My grandpa (who doesn't game) played this whole game through purely on the basis of nostalgia. It's a great memory I have with him right before he died :'(
The way you do that puzzle in Tortooga is use the clock to slow down time, then hit all the gears so it shows the sword. If you run out of clocks, (this actually works i did this before) run around the room hitting the gears as fast as you can and eventually it will work. :)
Actually, I think Banjo Kazooie did have invincibilinty frames. Banjo just didn't flash like other games when you have invincibility frames. Also in Tooie you wer knocked a good amound of distance from an enemy when hit sorta making it's own invincibility frames. idk i could be wrong its been a while since I played BK and BT
I just stumbled upon your videos and I really like them. I'm curious as to if you've played Epic Mickey 2 yet. I'd like to hear your thoughts on that if you have. I'm going to continue watching your videos now, good work. ^^
This game is so nostalgic to me as a kid, this was my first wii game and this game is responsible for getting me into animation, this game deserbes a remastered version.
I think this was Disney's best attempt to bring something a bit dark and edgy, and also reintroducing their character Oswald after decades it was taken from Disney's hnds by an uncalled lawsuit which resulted in Mickey being created as a replacement. This game took my childhood hostage, just this way. And the intro song is GORGEOUS.
Also, the Gremlins DID exist, they are almost as old as Mickey. They had their own little books and animations I think, what never took off was the film based on them. From what I've seen, it seems like Gus was the main character from the Gremlins book, and I think they were pilots or something like that. There's a reference to the creator of the Gremlins in Epic Mickey 2, and that reference is the Dahl Engineering Corridors (or D.E.C.) as the guy's name was Roald Dahl.
9:20 Oswald was actually Disney's first mascot, but he lost the rights to Oswald to an animation studio he worked for, he would eventually create Mickey.
Wah, that was a perfect review! Capturing all my issues and lovings in the game. Though I wanted to see more than just 2 cartoons for all those film reels.
@cjjjmj This video was uploaded on Push-Start months ago, before that was even brought to anyone's attention, and yes that part was in the video as well.
@DayLaMike Ah you must be in the Small World/ Gremlin Village area. That place is very confusing your first time but believe it or not it's actually smaller than it looks. A lot of the game is actually. Yeah I wanted to put that stuff in somewhere but discovered that it wouldn't fit in anywhere or contradict what I would say... so yeah a blooper reel was called for since I didn't want that stuff to go to waste.
The characters I want most in the third one are: Panchito Pistoles, Brom Bones, Huntsman from Snow White, Willie the Giant, The Lost Boys, Honest John & Gideon, the Penguins from Mary Poppins, Mortimer Mouse, Ronno and Sir Kay / Sir Ector
@sonicchic1 Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner! :) Yes that's where I got it from and congrats on being the first to get it. I was wondering if anyone would get it.
I absolutely love this game! Thank you for making a positive review about it! Lol you giving it five stars made my day! XD I get sick of people dissing and unfairly reviewing it just because of little things like the camera, because, really, it's one of the best games I've ever played, and I can't wait for the next one! Thank you for a GREAT and fair review! :D
Looks like a lot of fun... though I haven't been at a single Disney theme park in my life, so I may miss some of the references! ^^ Loved the extras at the end there, too... may we expect more of those? =P
Great review dude! Also, let me be the first to guess that the quote was inspired by the ending quote of Mickey Mania: "If you enjoy this game, buy it twice!"
Is the Hatbox ghost in this game? Because if he isn't, that kind of seems odd sense this is a game about forgotten characters, plus has the Haunted Mansion in it.
I mainly found this game hard. My guess is because is because of those camera views and because last time I was rushing through the game and that's what I prefer to do. I may have to take my time when I play it next time. I too had trouble with the columns puzzle. One more thing-for me if there are too many enemies, I just bonk them into a thinner pool if there's one near by. Beetleworx are a different story.
@cjszero01 Ah, okay! That's a relief. I thought I was going crazy there for a second. XD I'll rewatch the review again to see if I missed anything else. =D
@cjszero01 OK. and your wrong about mickey junk mountain having no basketball court because there is a type of b-ball court at the gate to Oswald's sanctum. just go left and head for the wall with a yellow mickey poster( i think it's a poster) and you will go through it and find a b-ball court. as to what you find there i will not say.
@cjszero01 mmm what game should i get which would you recommend me getting for wii golden eye 007 donkey kong country just that i want a game thats good and a lot of replay value or good muiltiplayer on wifi
A couple things csjzero: 1) How did you unlock the cinema rewards a second time on the second playthrough? I was going to play through the game a second time, but when I discovered I'd have to do it without all the bonuses I'd obtained from the cinema reels, I basically just quit. I mean what's a New Game + without the extra stuff you got?! 2) Is there any chance you'll ever review Epic Mickey: Power of Two?
1.) Ya got me. I just started playing through again and they let me keep the cinema reels. 2.) Sadly I didn't pick up the second game cause I heard that the platforming was worse, and most of the choices you made were taken out.
cjszero01 I actually preferred the second game, I'd recommend picking it up now since it's dirt cheap these days. They didn't necessarily take the choices out, they're just a pain to figure out in comparison to the first one. I can see why people didn't like the platforming though since a lot of it relies on Oswald, who has spotty AI if you're playing solo, though in all I find the platforming better with the Wii U versions analog controls. I wouldn't recommend the Wii U version if you do ever pick it up though.
+cjszero01 If you DO pick it up, only the Wii and Xbox360 versions aren't fundamentally broken. Every other version of the game IS. Even the Wii U, and that should just be a HD, better version of the Wii one!
1000 E-Tickets? Hmm I'd probably somewhat agree that's pretty high but I'm more of a Zelda person, so would you say an E-ticket is about the value of a rupee or is it rarer? Yeah I know it's probably a hard comparison but I'm just wondering how much effort it would take to get 1000 of them is all
@SuperGarfieldJordan1 Yeah, it's not the darkest game I've played but I knew that just from the description of the game that came out a year before it was released.
@cjszero01 i figured out the Tortuga column's, puzzle! use the watch sketch's to slow down time and raise the columns and then go to the gear where the item is suppose to be and spin it like crazy!
Also I knew about the gemlins before this game came out, AND IM 11! I saw an advertesment about a book for them in the mini magazene Disney Adventures Comix Zone. So... they wern't forgoten after all? Hmm
My grandpa (who doesn't game) played this whole game through purely on the basis of nostalgia. It's a great memory I have with him right before he died :'(
My condolences
I want the Shadowblot as a secret boss in KH3 and the Wasteland as a (secret) world to explore in that game too :p
The way you do that puzzle in Tortooga is use the clock to slow down time, then hit all the gears so it shows the sword. If you run out of clocks, (this actually works i did this before) run around the room hitting the gears as fast as you can and eventually it will work. :)

I wonder if we'll get a review of the sequel.
Woah, I played through the whole game and I never found out the lock on!
I just stumbled upon your videos and I really like them. I'm curious as to if you've played Epic Mickey 2 yet. I'd like to hear your thoughts on that if you have. I'm going to continue watching your videos now, good work. ^^
It's because you might not have fully painted it before stepping on it. :)
@Nova20cp That's now in the annotations, thanks for pointing that out.
Your best review ever.
This game is so nostalgic to me as a kid, this was my first wii game and this game is responsible for getting me into animation, this game deserbes a remastered version.
I did talk about the camera angles you know? And how you can have three different ways to control it.
Loved the bloopers at the end dude! I watch this review all the time mainly because of them! Lol
Also, the Gremlins DID exist, they are almost as old as Mickey. They had their own little books and animations I think, what never took off was the film based on them. From what I've seen, it seems like Gus was the main character from the Gremlins book, and I think they were pilots or something like that. "NOOOOO! NOT THE BOATS!"
just EPIC line :D
11:08 use the clock sketches to make time slower, while the time is slow, hit all of the switches all the way up and all the colums will stay still
Wah, that was a perfect review! Capturing all my issues and lovings in the game.
Though I wanted to see more than just 2 cartoons for all those film reels.
@Nova20cp I figured it out, it's where the flowers for the quest are and under the flower bed.
@cjjjmj This video was uploaded on Push-Start months ago, before that was even brought to anyone's attention, and yes that part was in the video as well.
LOL, I figured out Tortuga by dumb luck too!!!!!
@SwedishKuriboh Afraid not, I did that for this one because there was no room in the review to bring those up.
Tortooga quest- you must spin all the gears before one of them fall. I suggest using a watch sketch.
@KingTorterraXIV The place is called Wasteland, I rememberd hearing it in the narration of StarFox64 so why not? :)
@MistressZelda Well that wasn't on the push-start video, just this one.
Um, CJ, you can also use the D-pad to control the camera.
Oswald's eyes remind me of classic sonis, the way they're done.
when he person had the plumb and loooks at his heart it made me think of kindom hearts 2 THE SOULLESS!!!!
I haven't seen very many of your reviews, but I've got to say that this is my favorite so far, and it really makes me want to go get this game.
Dude, this is REALLY, REALLY good. Seriously, why don't you make these more often?!
Sounds good and I hope they make it for the Wii U.
@ballsbaby123 What's the connection? Wouldn't it make more sense to say that compared to DKCR?
I honestly have no plans of getting it.
XD

Thank you for a GREAT and fair review! :D
Oh cj. If u only knew...
@Recommendation765 I wanted to put that in but I didn't have the footage of it. :(
The only boss I really used Thinner on was the Mad Doctor.
When I was a kid I have an Oswald plush from Disney
@REDGUY2764 Because this one took almost 6 months to be just right. At least I was able to work on other videos during that time.
Looks like a lot of fun... though I haven't been at a single Disney theme park in my life, so I may miss some of the references! ^^
Loved the extras at the end there, too... may we expect more of those? =P
Where I had to find the flowers, I just thinned EVERYTHING in ostown
Take what you said about kingdom hearts, play kingdom hearts 3D, and tell me you don't feel the same way.
15:12 And thus, Epic Mickey: The Power of 2 was made.
Well, he was Disney's first character. Not really his first mascot as he didn't have his own company yet.
Great review dude! Also, let me be the first to guess that the quote was inspired by the ending quote of Mickey Mania: "If you enjoy this game, buy it twice!"
I think for that gear puzzle you have to spin attack the gears.
Nope, I use to play at ToonTown at Disneyland.
@iFukuyama How do you figure?
Is the Hatbox ghost in this game? Because if he isn't, that kind of seems odd sense this is a game about forgotten characters, plus has the Haunted Mansion in it.
He's in it.
I wish Disney made a number 3 .
I mainly found this game hard. My guess is because is because of those camera views and because last time I was rushing through the game and that's what I prefer to do. @sonictom95 If you want replay go with Goldeneye, if you want an AWESOME game with low replay value get DKCR.
It actually is getting two sequels; one for 3DS, one for the Wii.
@ballsbaby123 Not exactly but that is probably the closest you can compare it too.
I think that Banjo Kazooie DID have invincibility frames too
Not only are we geting a sequel to this game with a co-op feature we are geting another epic mickey game for the 3DS
The cloumns in tortuga must be activated after using the watch sketch. You can thank me by reviewing Epic mickey 2 :)
No copyright infringment intended. Bill S.978 refrence?
my favorite easter egg is when you find walt disney's hidden room
I did I recognize the scientist. And I also have that game still and it still works
Ha! That ending reference always makes me laugh. I miss Freakazoid XD
Kudos for the Freakazoid reference!!!
This game has two sequels, power of illusion for the 3DS and i think it's power of two for the wii, where you control as Oswald.
I would have like to see the Buzz Lightyear ride from Magic Kingdom but i think that would be pushing it
It makes me want to wait until the price drops.
w-was that last little line "NO NOT THE BOATS" from Freakazoid?
lucky for you there will be a sequel, Epic Mickey 2 for the Wii U is coming out soon
The opening line about Kingdom Hearts.....yeeeaaahh....which one is getting a 3 on its title?
@iFukuyama I see you had different expectations for this game, I didn't.
Would you have rather seen donkey kong 64 remake for the wii instead of this?
I heard this version of Mickey is possible for SSB4, I hope it happens, as long as we don't get anymore cartoon characters
@cjszero01 mmm what game should i get which would you recommend me getting for wii golden eye 007 donkey kong country just that i want a game thats good and a lot of replay value or good muiltiplayer on wifi
@Megan64fan And where would they fit?
Oswald is one of the main Characters in Epic Mickey 2. I think.
A couple things csjzero:
1) How did you unlock the cinema rewards a second time on the second playthrough? I was going to play through the game a second time, but when I discovered I'd have to do it without all the bonuses I'd obtained from the cinema reels, I basically just quit. It's still a good game to pick up. Not NEARLY anywhere on par with this game, but give it a try and a review definitely, it deserves one.
+cjszero01
If you DO pick it up, only the Wii and Xbox360 versions aren't fundamentally broken. Every other version of the game IS. Even the Wii U, and that should just be a HD, better version of the Wii one!
Is the gamepaly to this game really like banjo kazooie mixed with the legend of zelda?
i loved mickey mania, it was my favourite game as a kid
1000 E-Tickets? Hmm I'd probably somewhat agree that's pretty high but I'm more of a Zelda person, so would you say an E-ticket is about the value of a rupee or is it rarer? Yeah I know it's probably a hard comparison but I'm just wondering how much effort it would take to get 1000 of them is all
@MistressZelda You mean the one I used at the end of the video? Yup. :)
@SuperGarfieldJordan1 Yeah, it's not the darkest game I've played but I knew that just from the description of the game that came out a year before it was released.
Hey Cjszero01, Did you ever see the concept art for this game with the creepy looking run down Disney world?
they did make a sequel to this game for the Wii U
@hackensac What do you mean?
@cjszero01 i figured out the Tortuga column's, puzzle! use the watch sketch's to slow down time and raise the columns and then go to the gear where the item is suppose to be and spin it like crazy!
let me guess on the little green guys you found out on cartoon network. the show mad right?
you should do outtakes on every review
can't wait for epic mickey 2.
have you seen teh trailer for the second game it will be coop with oswald
Also I knew about the gemlins before this game came out, AND IM 11! I saw an advertesment about a book for them in the mini magazene Disney Adventures Comix Zone. So... they wern't forgoten after all? Hmm
@WiiDude83Rebirth Well I can't take credit for that, I got that from Freakazoid. I'll send you a video.
So it's normal to be bored at the beginning?
Guess I should have played it more. But playing it just made me wanna go and play Kingdom Hearts.
So the choices in the game are kinda like Infamous 1?
So, what do you think about the mixed reviews the sequel is getting?
0:29 Mickey obviously didn't learn his lesson from fantaisa
