Do I really need to say anything else? It's Mario and Sonic in a personal best of list doing what their best at. Once again, these are the games that have had the biggest impact on me, only platformers, and no collections. So instead of asking where "so and so" is you can leave a comment about your favorite Mario and Sonic platformers. Enjoy.

I love the nostalgia of these vids. I miss playing sonic and tails with my big sister. I dont think she ever once let me play sonic, but those could have been the best videogame moments of my life.

MarioSonicBros125 Official Channel Eh, I prefer the JP/EU version because it doesn't have creepy music like the US boss theme or the US game over theme. And also the JP/EU version of the game has more catchy music to me.
I make no promises on when specific videos will be uploaded unless they are almost done. Stuff happens and I'd rather not play beat the deadline and end up sacrificing the quality of the video just for something like that.
Paper Mario will forever be the most underrated Mario game ever.

Waking up on a weekend morning saterday, seeing the beautiful sunshine outside the window and saying the suns light on my floor and waking up and playing super mario sunshine was the best feeling ever!
Totally agree with your sonic #1. It was that game that introduced me to the series and that game that made me a fan for life

I liked the fact that there were no themes to each galaxy. The next galaxy you would go to would be a surprise and different from the last one.
There were some control issues such as that one mission when the Pinata guys throw you from one platform to another and it almost feels like a throw of faith. The Lava boat ride before Bowser wasn't too much fun either. I also thought it felt a little rushed and there weren't enough places to go to compared to Mario 64 and I hated the blue coins.

i can not choose a favorite in either of the franchises they are all amazing but in sonic i might be able to pick a favorite soon, after playing the demo of genarations im blown away by just how good the sense of speed is and how good the stage that was in it is desienged and the graphics.
Sonic adventure battle 2! Best game, when I got my gamecube I played it so so much. Loved everything about it!!

It's possibly tied. There are some things I like more in the first one but the second entry has a lot of great stuff too.
I think it would defiantly be a good idea to do frequent/ more frequent game reviews in that case, so we can understand your perception of the games that you play (or don't play) so if they're featured in a top 10 we can understand why you do.. or don't like them.
Amen to that, I love that game! The graphics were great, fludd was awesome, those secret stages kicked ass and was just all round a great game. I agree with you that game needs more love.
PS: You can actually use the dune buds in Gelato Beach to kill the cataquacks when doing the watermelon mission.
About Super Mario World, it was also a launch title. HOLY CRAP! That's is almost unheard of nowadays!

The boat part is hard because of the controls and physics that don't work together. I don't think you know which part I'm talking about with the Pinata guys. It's in one of those special stages where they throw you from platform to platform and you have to be in the EXACT spot before they throw you otherwise that's a missed life and it's worse because they move around making it very frustrating. Plus there's still not enough places to go, how about a shopping mall or a cruise ship? Nope, coins.
While I don't think you can really do better than Sonic Colors or Sonic Generation, this is not my list. Very good video, thanks for entertaining me yet again.
my favorite sonic game has to be sonic heroes. you probably looked weird at me now, but let me tell you and it will be clearer. i can actually say why i like it with two reasons
1: i grew up with the game (which plays a big part as im a nostalgic person)
2: the game has a lot of combat (one of the things i like the most in games is tearing down one enemy after another)
sure, people might dislike how the games repetitive, but you have different characters every time and the stages are also altered (especially at team chaotix). also, in SA2, theres a lot more repetitiveness if you want all the emblems. first off, you have to complete the same stage 5 times with different challenges (complete the stage, find 100 rings, find the lost chao, complete the stage under a strict time limit, complete the stage in hard mode). there is also an emblem for all A ranks in each story, resulting in 3 more emblems from the hero, dark and final story, and considering how harsh the ranking is in that game, you will reset the stage a lot. to top it all off, you also get emblems from chao race and chao karate, making you play the stages even more to get the animals and chaos drives you need to raise your chao
the funny thing? no one complained about that
hmm, i better get a copy and a gamecube so i can finally get all As in sonic heroes. shame i didnt find it in PSN store (which is very confusing since it has all the genesis games, sonic cd, and both sonic adventures)

For the mario side I agree except #1 is Super mario RPG legend of the seven stars. It was an amazingly fun RPG with cameos, replay value and started paper mario. And my favorite racer in sonic adventure battle 2: Amy. almost every ring was another attack of some sort.
I don't know, Sonic 3 and Knuckles wasn't even on my list, but he's a cool guy so I know he wouldn't complain about that.

With NSMB there wasn't anything all that new, it was one of the shortest games I ever played and it wasn't that memorable to me, IMO.
@XFalconZeroii Yup, your one of the better fans, the respectful ones. I wasn't intentionally bashing it just giving more of a reason as to why I enjoyed Sonic Rush.

super mario land was hard when you got a game over you start from the beginning of the game. i've only made it to world 3-2 and listening to the same world 1 sound track can give you a real ear ring.

I'm glad you said platformers, otherwise this list would've been a lot harder to make, as (in my opinion) the spinoffs are just as good or better than the platformers.
You pretty much summed up Mario, so I will just leave a note that the multiplayer in NSMBW was one of the funniest ones of ALL games I've played.
About Sonic-games, I loved Sonic Heroes, and especially Team Chaotix and battles
I honestly have no idea, but Nintendo made them for filming, i only know 3 things, 1. They can be used to film all handhelds. 2. They can film both screens of the DS. and 3. They are expensive. (sorry for the lack of info)
Personally, Super Mario Land 2 was my favorite 2D Mario game. Can't say much about 3D because 64 was the only one I completed. As for Sonic, Colors is in my top 10 favorite games of all time.

I didn't hate it, I was disappointed in it. There weren't enough areas to go to and instead of making a world for every Shine to be in they decided to have you collect 10 blue coins for Shine. I also felt the camera wasn't all that response and some challenges like the watermelon and the one where the Pinata guys throw you from platform to platform weren't very well done.
Mario:
5 - I had so much fun with this game as a kid, but sadly my gameboy broke after a while..
4 - One of the best games on the SNES!!
3 - Simply one of the greatest games of all time!
2 - One of the games that made me love videogames to begin with!
1 - Loved the soundtracks, the gameplay and the level designs!
Sonic:
5 - The game that started the war and it was awesome!
4 - Never owned a dreamcast..
3 - Have never played.
2 - A great 3D Sonic game!
1 - The best Sonic game of all time!
For this I used a DVD recorder, now I'm using a Dazzle and it sucks so I'm now ordering a AVERMedia C281 Game capture card. I'll let you know how that goes.
@Inufan20 That footage wasn't to mock Bowser Jr., it was used because it was a recongnizable part of Sunshine. It was not meant to insult any character or the game at all.
Pair of questions:
1: I dont recall that you have reviewed Sonic Adventure 2. Why not? I would REALLY like to see it!
2: I know, i know, you didnt like Shadow the Hedgehog like most who have played the game, but still, why not try and review it? Everybody have the need to hate something once in a while!
Sonic rush is freaking hard!!!!! I used to have trouble on water zone,
Now it's casino zone!!!!!! I get a freaking game over all the TIME!!!!!!
The only Sonic games I own (and ever owned) were Sonic Unleashed (Wii), Sonic Generations (the 3DS version though, which is not as good as the console and PC versions), Sonic Lost World (Wii U) and Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric (unfortunately)

In Mario Party 2 there was a minigame called "Torpedo Targets" that had Mario and the gang teaming up in a submarine (2 vs 2)

@cjcookie That was actually close to being my fifth but I found that a little easy too and not a whole lot of new stuff was added to it.
I don't have any idea wich Sonic game is my favorite but I still know what I liked:
Sonic 2, Sonic & Knuckles, Shadow the Hedgehog (I liked the game really..), Unleashed to a degree, Sonic Adventure 2: Battle.. and Sonic Generations is fine.
@Cirnoscarlet9 You didn't say it had to be a Mario game. So how long did it take for you to beat the Perfect run? Besides Mario wasn't always trying to be hard, just fun and I had fun and that's what matters.

Hmm interesting: The concept of Super Saiyan and Super Sonic are actually very close together. The episode in which Goku first transformed into a Super Saiyan was on the original Japanese airdate of June 19, 1991. Sonic the Hedgehog 2, which was the first game to have Super Sonic, was released in japan on November 21, 1992.

"Sonic & Knuckles" has to be the greatest Sonic game ever made *IN MY OPINION* simply because of the way it interacted with the other Sonic games:
Sonic 3 - almost became a whole new game. Beat the Sonic 3 levels, then storm right into the S&K world.
Sonic 2 - being able to play a game I'd already mastered as a new character added a new level of challenge.
Sonic 1 - my sisters and I would spend entire days playing Blue Sphere, which might be the best Sonic special stage ever.
I enjoyed Sunshine a little more than the other games on the Mario list, and My older brother had put away the Dreamcast, so I started my Sonic life with Adventure 2 Battle. Then, I pulled out the dreamcast and tried out Adventure 1 and was completely confused.
Understandable, i was never able to get very far because i never had a memory card as a kid (I know horrible). And the inverted camera controls confused me royally. Thank you for sharing.
My Favourite 5 Sonic Games are (in ascending order) Sonic 2, Sonic 1, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle (yes the Gamecube version), Sonic Generations and Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

Top five sonic games (I am not a hardcore Sonic fan, so I haven't played many. I prefer Mario)

1. Sonic Unleashed. Now, call me crazy, but it was actually an amazing game. You went so fast that you had to drift! The music was memorable! I have the Wii version that sucks, but it was still fun even if it is the crappy version. In Fawful's Minion's top 10 (Community voted) Sonic games, Unleashed won. So it is simply that that made it fun!
I agree with you. My personal favorite Mario game is Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door. However, the list in this video was exclusively for platformers. Mario RPG and Paper Mario are both RPG games, not platformers.

Actually based on the few comments I've seen and a few overly biased fan boys I've encounterd, mamilolu is not the only one who's favorite Sonic game is Shadow. Not saying I agree with them (far from it in fact I despise that game for a number of reasons), but that that person isn't exactly alone and since they've brought no hate I bring no hate.
There were some parts of it I enjoyed however I don't feel that there were enough levels in the game and the fact that the controls can be a little jittery in some areas along with the camera can kind of get on my nerves. Not to mention certain parts like the Pinata toss of faith, the lava boat ride of doom, and so many boring blue coins just didn't sit to well with me. I didn't hate it, but it's not one of my favorites.
i like sonic adventure alot right now. but that's probably because after beating Big's story i never had to lay eyes on him again, YAY!
@xXJebTheHedgefoxXx Well you're close to it. The reviews aren't are the public should see them, it's a fair review while doing my best to remove any biasism I have towards the game. My opinions are expressed in the review but I can not ignore any major faults the game might have. EX: I gave Star Wars Rebel Strike a 4/5 because of the bad controls in the on foot missions, however I had it tied with Rogue Leader a 5/5 since I can skip the on foot levels because I already beat them.

I know you must get this ALL the time, but I love your lists, even when I don't agree with them. You don't list them because of 'da facts', you list them because of your personal passion for them and IMO that's what video games are supposed to be about.
Im a huge sonic fan now but i grew up on n64 so i played super mario 64 all the time i loved it
Mario: New Super Mario Bros. Wii (which was a close fifth) Sonic: Sonic Adventure for the Dreamcast. Zelda: I guess Minish Cap.

Great list. Finally someone else who thinks Mario Galaxy is the best mario game. Personally, I would say Sonic Generations is my favorite sonic game with Adventure 2 being a close second, but hey everyone has their own opinions.

Yes, i can look past the glitches in 06, besides i mostly play it for shadow and silver, and the mach stages for sonic...and it was the first game i got all S rank

@krazzychicken Ummm... Well, maybe. Though I'm worried my choices will be the same as many other people. The only reason I made vids about Sonic is cause I wanted to bring things to the table that I hadn't already heard lots of other people say before.
my favorite Mario game still remains Super Mario World.i haven't played Galaxy yet,and while i have played Mario Bros 3 as a kid,i still enjoy it less.i'm much less of a Sonic player though,but i do agree with no.1 since i did play this one.it was a blast to play!
I was wondering why the Sonic The Hedgehog ( one with Silver and Blaze) wasn't here. The Camera angle was amazing in that game.
2:58 I like New Super Mario Bros, but I never did get Super Mario Sunshine. I've seen LPs and other footage of the game, but it just doesn't give the "gotta have" feel like the Super Mario Galaxy games. Super Mario 64 remains my all time favorite though.
Third favorite it was all awesome. the only bad songs in there were mostly the Rouge missions and the amy theme song.
I agree with the sonic top 5 except I would have put sonic CD at number 1 and removed sonic the hedgehog 2. I'm a little biased since sonic CD was my first sonic game, but it is an awesome game. It's rare to see a game use time travel well and sonic CD used it well. Each level had 3 different styles past, present, and future. The bonus was that each style had its own soundtrack!
