went to a online class like a hour and a half using the latest macbook air and the battery is amazing! 100% to 98% for an hour and half during an online class
The speed that they open is freakn amazing... My mom just switched from windows to macbook and her Lenovo use to take 10years to open.

Can you tell me if after all these weeks you noticed some bugs or failure in office 365...I'm windows user and I never used before a Mac so I want to know if all the apps, especially word and excel, works with all the features and velocity as those in windows.

All MS office apps work well on my MacBook Pro M1. I downloaded as the way you showed in this video. One thing is that MS OneDrive is a bit unstable on M1. It frequently signs out during synchronizing. Hope MS will improve this issue. Somehow, the rest of running apps are incredibly fast on M1.
what about the license .. Is it is free?
So we can use MS office same function as per others laptop ? It can read all ms office format ?
Onedrive also signs out frequently on my Dell latitude. So, Its not a mac exclusive bug.

Great video. Did you ever make one for MS365/Outlook? It was mentioned but I hadn’t seen it. Outlook has been my big hold off from going with a Mac as the older Outlook iOS versions didn’t work well. The other reason that I’m holding off is that I LOVE the eraser head on the ThinkPad. My very first laptop had one and I can’t live without it! ;-)

They did, nearly all ms native apps are arm compatible

I downloaded my copy directly from the Office website. It took a while to download and get installed, at one point it seemed to get stuck, but it worked well in the end. I believe it is the m1 version, as I look the Activity Monitor and under Architecture it says “Apple” for all apps except One Drive, which says “Intel”. Like one comment says, the system probably detects what kind of mac you have and it installs the right version.
I agree. I did the same thing but instead of being patient when it got stuck, I just reset it and downloaded it from the App Store haha
But be careful if you use macros and work with visual basic. It still don’t work and you cant play macros from older excel files..

Apple makes Pages and MS-Excel with multiple tabs for open multiple documents in one window like Safari or Firefox tabs; however, MS-Word does not have this thing for Mac. Why?

I prefer Office 2019. No hassles with the always on internet and cloud checking and whatnot. Very light, too. Rosetta 2 runs it EXTREMELY well on my M1 Mac Mini.

Students can download Office 365 for free online. I believe they already have the programs updated for M1.

I got a an M1 mbp, my question is: How does this version of excel compare to the "full" excel version in windows? Or should I use sth similar to bootcamp to get the full excel version? Good video, super helpful!!
you can't use BootCamp on the M1. VMWare and Parallels are working on versions compatible with M1, but it might be a while before you can run a Windows VM on the M1 (which is the only reason I can't get an M1 yet)

@@abuadam4441 I canceled my order and decided to wait for the MacBook Air M1X. I switched to Apple early last summer and I am so mad that I did not do so sooner. I purchased an iMac 4K 21.5. It put any of my previous laptops to shame. Apple is pricey, but you cannot beat quality and productivity, especially if you are a student.

in my 2012 mac it came installed and working for free but i dont know if in the newer versions of the macos it still is free

I have two Microsoft accounts, one from my Uni and another for an org I volunteer for. Would I be able to access both, using these apps, without having to sign-in and out each time?

@@85walcott not really, as I ended up signing into the accounts on a different browser... just have to remember which browser is which, lol.
@@torspedia I was able to link both. I downloaded the Microsoft Office app. Then signed into my outlook account. Once you click on outlook you’ll see both your accounts linked to the right side.
Those apps was already opened once before the video, I had tested a week ago on a MacMini M1 and on an MacBook Air M1 and the first launch is slow (many seconds) and I’m not the only one who noticed this. The second run is almost instant but the first is slow.

What is the Microsoft suite experience like in M1 iPad Pro. I am a medical student and I read tons of ebooks and make notes. I just wanted to know if M1 ipad will be good for research too? Or do I need to get MacBook too? I need full blown Microsoft suite with added option of Zotero support.

How is the RAM and CPU usage while on a Teams video conference, running One Drive, Outlook, Visio, Excel, Word, bunch of Chrome tabs? My Dell struggles and RAM usage is 7GB (85-90%). Curious if 8GB is enough on the M1. Thanks, great video and discussion here!
Its plenty. With my i5 MacBook Air I had that issue. It only had 8GB of RAM and when I video chatted on teams, nothing else would work. The m1 has been able to handle it perfectly

Man, that's fast. I'm upset that I just bought a new Intel MBP 13 in June. I need to run Windows on Parallels sometimes, which I wouldn't be able to do on the M1, but I've always got my Windows laptop as a backup plan. It might have been worth it to have that kind of speed. Office takes a long time to open on the old macs.
Do what I did. I purchased an I5 MacBook Air in June also. I traded it in to apple, I got $670 for it. I then purchased from the education store on apple a M1 MacBook Air base line for $899. Then just financed it with my Apple Card. So the new laptop is only costing me about $20 a month for a year
@@fernandosilva yeah I just checked. I've got the $1900 version of MBP (i5/16RAM/1TB), and they only give me $970 trade-in value. Can probably do better selling it myself. One of the values of the Mac has always been it's resale value, but with the new chips, I think that's about to change.

I was using Toshiba satellite L740 and a week ago, I bought M1 2020. And I was crazy amazed bout how quickly it was to open the google chrome in M1. haha. I spent 1:35 minutes to open google chrome on my old laptop and just need less than a sec to open chrome in M1. hahahaha

I have bought office 365 for mac from MS, but while installing the software says they can’t find a license in my account.. but when I log in it’s right there. No way to contact ms from the netherlands now. Very very irritating
Serious question, why bother with this vs Pages/Numbers/Keynote? - in my experience, the compatibility is pretty much perfect these days and the Apple software is.. better. Keynote has always been better, Number is way faster with huge spreadsheets and allows having multiple tables/sheets on the same screen, Pages has styles you can apply (e.g. changing every header in your document and nicer templates). What are the advantages of having MS Office?
Sometimes people need it because that is the standard where they work. It’s very rare to find corporate jobs with everyone using iWork. Most of the time it’s either Microsoft office or the google suite.

Mac in general is pretty awful for MS Office (especially Excel). But yeah, M1 Air has great value but it is not ideal for people in the Finance sector or people who heavily use Office.

I have a MacBook Air with MS 365 on it. I am having difficulty with the editor in MS 365 when I export a document from pages into word and then use the editor. I have the language selected as English but it wants to_everything in read and check it in Italian. I keep going back and changing to English but it defaults to Italian. I don’t have this problem when I create a document in word on the Mac, only when it’s exported from Pages

Nice video. Was wondering about compatibility because I currently have Office on my laptop and have stated looking at getting a MacBook. Wish the air came in a 16 in version as I’m used to a 17 in screen on my laptop. The m1 is not on the pro yet. I have documents that I open then save as a new new name to make changes every month.
