Scots are considered in France to be soldiers of great valour, and their loyalty is matched by unfailing self-sacrifice. The Scottish Guard is an elite military corps created by Charles VII in 1422 to form his personal guard in times of war. The origins of the Scottish Guard date back to 882, when a contingent of Scottish nobles came to France to form the guard of Charlemagne's grandson King Charles III the Straightforward (17 September 879 - 7 October 929). As a reminder of this origin, the Scottish company was often commanded by members of the Scottish royal family, notably in the 17th century by Kings Charles I and James II. The specific title of Scottish Guards also referred to six soldiers from the Scottish Company of Bodyguards, chosen to serve as the King's bodyguard for special ceremonies such as the coronation or royal wedding. Their leader bore the title of 'premier homme d'armes de France' (first man-at-arms of France)... During a tournament, Gabriel I de Montgomery, a member of the Scottish Guard, accidentally killed King Henry II of France.

In fact, this march is French, inspired by a scottish tune that became popular among French troops to celebrate the "auld alliance".
It became popular in other armies (like the German one, obviously), but not in the British army...

Das ständige Tatütata auf dem Spanndauer Damm war schon sehr auffällig: Bei der Anfahrt mit Bus rauschte ein Polizeiwagen vorbei, während der Rede von BG Henne gab es Getüte und dann eben hier bei Robert Bruce.
Wer also nicht gerade vom Zweck des Tüdelns betroffen ist, fühlt sich eher genervt dadurch.

Dieser Clip wurde am 14.9.2019 aufgenommen. Dieser Tag erinnert mich plötzlich an meine Vergangenheit, als ich mit Druck bei der Arbeit konfrontiert wurde. Der Druck war so groß, dass ich abends weinen und daran denken musste, aufzugeben. Zum Glück habe ich nicht aufgegeben. Damals kannte ich BTB-Concept, OTL Kiauka, die amerikanische Dame und Sie noch nicht. Wenn ich 2019 diese netten ausländischen Freunde kennengelernt hätte, hätte ich mehr Freude gehabt und müsste nicht weinen.
@@seitetrang Ja es gibt manchmal schwierige Situationen im Leben. Als 2011 meine Frau an Brustkrebs starb, bin ich auch in ein tiefes Loch gefallen. Aber ich hatte meinen Sohn und es mußte weitergehen. Es freut mich, daß Du diese Situation überwunden hast.
Was machst Du am Wochenen? Gehst Du mit dem Baby auch Mal spazieren?
@@heinrichgerken4469 Mein Sohn ist noch zu klein und ich gehe nicht mit ihm spazieren. Jeden Morgen lasse ich ihn sonnen. Wenn er etwas älter ist, gehe ich mit ihm spazieren.

@@BTBconcept In meiner Zeit 75/76 gab es noch den Kunststofffhelm für die 5., Barett folgte später.
@@udohomscheid3502 Habe soeben nochmal nachgeschaut. 1979 unter Hauptmann Kirleis wurden die Kopfbedeckungen getestet und letztlich das Barett als die am besten geeignete Kopfbedeckung für das Protten ermittelt.

Robert Bruce, king of Scotland from 1306 to 1329, had him play his soldiers during the battle Of independence in 1314 which opposed it to the English troops. It was an overwhelming victory for Robert Bruce.
In 1492, at the siege of Orleans, the Scottish volunteers, some 6,000 soldiers come to lend a helping hand to Joan of Arc, play him again this march at the gates of Orleans.
This marked a great history of alliance between Scots and French.
The bands of the First Empire perpetuate its memory, until today, where many military and civilian formations continue to interpret this magnificent piece, full of emotion, despite its 700 years of existence.

The song is very old and the composer is unknown. If any Copyfraud company would claim anything about it, I would erase the video from here.
@@BTBconcept I am referring to the availability of the music parts for a band. Who arranged and /or published them? Are they available to purchase? Being an Irish musician I am quite familiar with most Scottish traditional tunes.
@@Baroquetom the German military bands arrange their music themselves. Sometimes they trade internally, but often they arrange their own version. This one is different than the version the Heeresmusikkorps 1 used to play.
There is afaik sheet music for different types of bands available from all sorts of vendors, but you could also always ask any band where they got theirs from.

Ich werde nie verstehen, wie man dieses alberne Dingeldangel in Endlosschleife auf derartigen Anlässen gespielt haben möchte. Es ist wirklich eine musikalische Zumutung und hat beim deutschen TZruppenzeremoniell m.E. nichts verloren.
Schlechten Tag gehabt? Irgendein Entscheidungsträger wird wohl auch auf das Lied stehen und es sich für diesen Anlass gewünscht haben.

Dassjemand so entschieden hat, habe ich ja gar nicht bezweifelt. Gleichwohl halte ich dieses Musikstück aus aufgeführten Gründen für völlig ungeeignet und darüber hinaus für musikalisch äußerst dürftig.
Schauen wir mal, was sich die Herrschaften nexte Woche beim GZ wünschen.
BTB-concept, klar ist es gut möglich, dass dieses Stück dann vom zu Ehrenden gewünscht wird. Wie gesagt, ich verstehe es weder musikalisch, noch von der zu erwartenden akustischen Wirkung, dass dieses Stück gewählt wird, wo es nun wirklich eine Vielzahl klangvoller Märsche gibt, die auch nur selten gespielt werden.
Das "Dingeldangel" ist uraltes Kulturgut was Menschen im Kampf für Eigenständigkeit und Freiheit zusammen gehalten hat. Das hat mehr mit Frieden zu tun als manches was heute dafür verkauft wird. Da muss man aber auch "Zugang" für haben und auch "wollen".
