Awesome this, going to try to replicate this. Did u use 2 sets of mounting arms? (because i see 4 brackets that are mounted on the roof and connected with the arms.
I used to have the link below in the description, but unfortunately, they are no longer available, so I removed the link 😔 you may have to source something similar.
Love what you have done. Im half way building teh same, thank you. re the Hue lights and placement, are you happy with where they are and the effect they give?
Don't forget to share your finished work in our Facebook group! We'd love to see how it turned out. I was really happy with the placement. The effect was awesome, with just a tiny bit of reflection on the monitors. You can barely notice it during day races though!
That’s super inspiring as I am looking for different ideas to build myself a roof. Very good job mate! 💪 I love the clean look on top! 👏 questions: your head is still not covered by the roof? Isn’t that a bit distracting/off? Why not fully cover the cockpit including the seat? I first thought your roof can be lifted / tilted up… thanks for the idea though. 😊 is it getting warmer while racing now, with the roof installed?
Thanks! My head is not entirely covered, but it's still very immersive. You're not looking up directly above it, but it helps close in the screens so your eyes aren't seeing anything above the monitors; it's very convincing. It helps with comfort when getting in and out of heat. The roof can be tilted up on brackets that can hinge open. I don't think I showed that, but it's possible with how I built it.
Cant seem to find the link to the mount/bracket you used for the Philips Hue light bars to mount under the roof. Can you link please. thanks!! the "led mount for offroad vehicle".
Thanks! I wanted to try getting the screens closer to the wheel to see how it felt and at that coordinating FOV so far it feels better for me and more realistic.
@@simracingden ok i had that too, first then i moved back to half base to also have a bit of the hub effect plus a part of the base like on mercedes gt3 or porsche, then i have 3d prints for the sockets air to simulate the dashboard a bit, unfortunately every car is different and being able to adapt to all of them is a bit of a problem. if you want to see there are two videos in my channel
Hi friend, i really really love your simrig roof design. Im trying to match your design in it's entirety. But i know that it is impossible. Please, can you tell me where you got your custom design part from? I mean the auto custom design in the middle of your roof. Thanks for the inspiration men.
amazing! I'm following the steps to make the same one, did you glue the vinyl on top and also on the bottom of the mdf? did you paint the edges or is it also vinyl?
Thanks! I used Trak Racer's speaker mounts for the TR8 - trakracer.com/products/tr8-5-speaker-kit?ref=Yhvdp_5RM04bsP. As for the rear speakers I did have them mounted too but removed for now since for some reason I can't get my rear surrounds working seems to be a windows issue. Thanks for watching!
Yes, that can be an issue; you could always try a tiny shade to block out the top but still leave room for your accessories on top of the monitor. So I had to remove the roof for now as It doesn't work with my bezel-free kit will do a re-design with a cut-out for them at some point.
Really really well done video...and a beautiful rig AND ROOF! I'm not trying to put a plug in for my video or roof, but swing over to my channel and check out my rig and roof video if you have 10 min to spare. Yours is way more pro though. Well done. (And Canadian to boot)
Awesome video, love how show detailed step by step ways to make immersion for the rig. can see this channel growing quickly.
Thank you very much!
This video is awesome. Inspired me to really outfit my rig.
This is easy enough that almost anyone can do it, yet looks incredible.
Simple no bs. Perfect.

Hi.
I really like this, and will use this as inspiration for my build!
How has the canopy lasted in these 2 years?
Great job man! I love my hue lights and adding a more simple canopy soon too.
Thanks man!
Would love to see your canopy after please share on our Facebook group, what are using to build it?
@@simracingden waiting on some black foam board from a local art store. Not a f booker but I’ll see if I can provide a pic somewhere when complete!

@@kevin_m sorry can't see it, share on my Facebook group "Sim Racing Setups" there is a link in my about section
appreciate the video, this will help a ton of simracers!
The classiest canopy I have seen, thanks for sharing, did you lay the center clear section and stripes over the carbon fiber film ?
Thanks! Yes I did.

watched video again, and guess what?? The answer is in there. (better listening next time 🙂
Great setup, nice thinking and solution to create an awesome immersive gaming experience 😀
Thanks for watching!
Hi, looks awesome 👌 what does your setup measure at the widest point?
Thanks! Let me check I’ll get back to you.

Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video. Will be using your via as a guide for my canopy. What were the mounts for the Phillips hue? I can’t find them in the description.
Nice! I had to remove the link as the product was no longer available ill see if there is something similar I can recommend.

Thanks a lot
Could you throw in the link for where you got your letter and number decals on the top of the canopy?

Great video!
Did you forget the link for the Hue Light Bar brackets ?
I used to have the link below in the description, but unfortunately, they are no longer available, so I removed the link 😔 you may have to source something similar.
Could you please let us know the name of the Hue Bar Brackets, so we can search on the Internet. Thank You very much. Great Work.
Awesome video
Thank you!
Nice job clean need this for rig :)
It really changes the experience very immersive.
Very nice I’m building your design right now. What did you use for the mount on the frame of the monitor stand for the brackets to hold the tv mounts
It worked out that my monitor stand at the time had holes as it was a tube frame so I ran a long bolt through it to secure the mounts.
That looks EPIC 👌 🔥
Will this mounting arms work for the Philips Hue bars without mods? Id really like this over a 3d printed ones out there.
You could probably modify it to work, but I haven't tried it personally.
Nice setup. what angle you running the screens? Looks more compact than my triple setup.
I’ve got them at about 54 degrees
Clean build work bro!
Thank you!

great job for the roof, how come you moved the monitors between the base and the steering wheel compared to the previous setup?
Thanks! I wanted to try getting the screens closer to the wheel to see how it felt and at that coordinating FOV so far it feels better for me and more realistic.

Hey! I believe your referring to the vinyl in the centre which is just a tape here is the link - geni.us/IGazM good luck with your build!
Thanks alot men.
Awesome!🔥

I didn’t glue the vinyl it is self adhesive for the around the edges I used thin vinyl tape. Good luck with your roof!
Off the chart cool
Great build. How did you mount the supports to your monitor stand? Did you use any extra hardware?
Just used some bolts and nuts.
great ideas , xmas holidays guess what i am doing , cheers mate
Very nice!
Thanks!

How did you mount your z5500 on the rig and also did you mount the rear speakers? Super clean setup! The roof is indeed very nice !

Looks amazing, awesome detailed tips! Do you find adding the roof made you get hot faster when using the rig?
Thanks no it didn’t feel any hotter since I left a bit open just above my head and I have a fan I use when I get warm anyway
Excellent
Thank you!
Very cool!
Can you make it a self retracting convertible so I can run open wheels? 😁 Nice job!!
That would be cool! Anything is possible I suppose
Mate, awesome !!!!
Did you try a side door ?
Thanks! No, I haven't. It’s a bit tricky in my space now, but I've seen some setups like that or with safety nets, which look incredible.
Nice
Thanks
Thank you sir
