- The Joyo American Sound costs $35, is about the size and weight of a paperback book, and makes a harp sound big and amped-up through a PA. What's not to like? In this demo we explore a few different configurations for the American Sound that make a harp sound loud and proud.
Thank you Richard! I like and respect your work because harp players need more alternative solutions to reach the sound they are looking for! You are open-minded and it helps a lot to show the people that there are more then 100 ways to create a cool harmonica sound! Im fed up with forum guys keep telling each other the same old BS all the time... Anyway ! Keep up the good work! Regards
Excellent demo, Richard. Thanks!
For today I found best tone for me turnin drive all way down, volume all way up and finding sweet spot on voice knob. Good pedal definitely!
Great review, thank you a lot! I use sometimes Line 6 POD, it works great, but is too big to my pedalboard. This Joyo sounds really cool. Have a nice day Richard!
Bought one based on this review. My usual rig is a Mesa Boogie V Twin tube pre-amp. The two are comparable, with this difference: The Joyo pedal has far less noise. Very easy to shape the tone and, hey, 40 bucks. We'll see how it lasts. I play a lot of one-nighters.
Very helpful demo and...nice tone.
This is a great idea! And I have that pedal already for my guitar rig. Now I'm wondering what some of my other amp sim pedals will do.
I use one of these with a Shure 520D for recording. Sounds great!
I have two if these . One was broken when I got it. The replacement works great into a clean amp or even into a computer to record. Through a PA it is somewhat effected by the skills of the soundman on the mixer.
Thanks Richard
So helpful, thanks, mate. Just received my Joyo and was going to look for an old style tube amp, that will bring its own warmth and distortion but now I'm wondering if I should look for modern amp that's clean, without overdrive?
sounds good!
Great little demonstration
Thanks for sharing with us
You still enjoying it ?
Thanks again
Richard, what would I need to send the American signal direct into a PA? I have an MXR Micro Amp which could send signal to House PA via Direct Box or direct into my small PA .
Also I have learned over the years that the low to high impedance transformer (Ex. Hosa Impedance Transformer XLR female to 1/4" TS male adapter) which you used in your video works best (as opposed to XLR to 1/4" cord ).
When I have used pedals in the past with a low impedance vocal mike I put some foam under the transformer to support it. I also have used older high impedance microphones (Shure) with pedals and thus no adapter needed.
Also have you ever tried the Sans Amp Tech 21 ($$$). For the price this Joyo Pedal is pretty amazing . Thank you for the demo.
This set up can be used without HI Z transformer?
I need the order form to purchase the joyal American harmonica pedal .
You won the harp challenge! Congrats! Send Konstantin your address so he can send you a new rocket in key of your choice! ps i just got a yoyo american sound based on your video. Thx for the advice.
Good stuff Richard! (John 3:16)
An SM58 is a pretty terrible mic for harmonica. so, getting a good working tone from that pedal interests me. The Joyo reminds me of the Lone Wolf Harp Attack pedal.
Wonder if itd sound good with an Orange 12 🤔
Have you an IMT between pedal and mic?
The mic is Lo-z, so I have a lo-to-hi-z transformer inline.
Just got the pedal myself I've been trying it with different amps it seems to work well thanks Rich good review
JF 14 Joyo ? Or something else ?
I'm confused as to which one to get ... Harmonica player UK
