What people do not understand is that packaging costs more. Fabricstion costs more. 1gr ingots are NOT FOR INVESTMENT! They are for use in the event we have a complete societal collapse and need to trade amongst ourselves or small merchants who are taking gold in exchange for food!! So, do not buy 1grammers thinking youre going to return them for what you paid. Only larger inhots will get you flush or a profit if gold rises above what you paid per ounce. Carry on...

The LCS is not your friend. It’s not just the grammers it’s everything they will try to bend you over and your job is to say hell nah.
Now if you would have offered 3 of those to another stacker for $65/ea I’m sure someone would scoop em up then it’s a win/win scenario

I have bought a couple because they are pretty and a unique thing for my tiny collection and have not sold any back. You loose both ways buying and selling them BUT folks need to do what suits them.
Many angles to look at and play and it all varies per person.

Groovy vid thanks for sharing! I picked up a small number of grams a few years back when I saw them on sale . I thought they were fun until I saw a gnarly coin last year which I really wanted. I offered them all to the dealer and suggested to use them as an exchange with his coin. The dealer surprised me when he agreed and happily took all the grams because he said he was getting "small change" that was much easier to sell than his coin. I could never have bought that coin for the price that I paid for the grams, but I was left with the impression that dealers must love little grams because of the smaller dollar amount that could make them easier to sell.

I buy them with no intention of ever selling them. If the dollar blows up and we sink into a barter situation then it will be hard to buy groceries or a tank of gas with your one ounce gold coin. I stack those as well but I like fractional amounts for my purposes.

The LCS Took over 25% of your money. To sell on ebay would cost 13%. Everyone should have an eBay account. There are many groups on Facebook where you pay No fee. Better yet, anyone in the UA-cam community would have taken these off your hands for $65-$70. It's not so much the small bars that are the problem.

    • @tomtharos4440

Everyone should have an eBay account? It takes time to list, time to take photos, time to package and mail. It’s unfair to not factor that into the equation. Get real. The shop owner has to pay rent or mortgage, taxes, utilities, insurance, time value of money while the product is sitting in the shelf, 100% of Social Security and Medicare tax, and come out with enough money to feed his family. I will posit you are the greedy money grubber who wants money for nothing other than walking into a store. SMH.

In order for a dealer to pay his bills and stay open he has to sell at spot plus a premium. When he buys he must purchase some under spot in case gold or silver drops in price. I don’t buy any thinking I’m going to make money as an investment. When I do sell I usually take a small loss but it worth piece of mind knowing I can cash it in when I need cash. The only way I could come out ahead is if I held onto some gold for 10 years or longer then sold.

Here's the thing to remember. A troy ounce of gold is thirty-one point one grams - approximately. So, two 10grams plus two 5grams plus 1 gram is approximately 1 troy ounce of gold. Five grams of gold will always get you three hundred and fifty bucks at least today at two thousand dollars an ounce. This means it's always good to have a little bit of gold in your possession. That five grams might pay off some tires, a car alignment food whatever - If things go south it will buy you a lot more!

When it comes to Gold and Silver fractional it costs the same to mint it as is does for a 1oz of the same metal , so I understand why it has a large premium when it is new , but I think it is wrong ,( immoral ) for Dealers to charge that premium when re-selling it . thanks for the vid .

1g bars have never had any appeal for me. The smallest I've bought is five 1/10thoz coins adding up to 1/2 oz, but that was at a discounted price. It seems weird to me to be buying gold that you can't actually hold because it's encased in plastic, but maybe that's just me.
People say that you can use it in a barter situation for smaller purchases but historically that is where silver comes in, and if that has been the case for thousands of years I'm sure it will still apply going forward?
To buy an ounce of gold in single grams @ $70 would mean you're paying around $300 over the price of a 1oz coin, part of which is an extra premium for the plastic and card packaging.
I realize people might struggle to buy larger weights of gold but if that is the case you're probably better off buying silver. Either that or save up to get a quarter ounce coin or sovereign which would be the lowest weight I'd recommend buying.
    Just my 2 cents...

    • @LiquidMetalStacker

@@LiquidMetalStacker Hi, Yes most serious stackers would have no interest in them, so that automatically excludes a large portion of the market if you're selling, whereas everyone would be interested if selling silver rounds or maples for example?
I don't have a LCS and I don't normally sell any of my PM's, but on one occasion I had an unexpected expense so needed to raise some cash. I picked out three things I didn't really like when I got them, a 1kg bar, a 10oz silver coin and a gold sovereign (which weighs slightly less than 1/4 ounce).
I put them up on a free ads site and priced them at around 5% less than what the dealers were charging and they all sold within two days.
My point being, selling PM's which have a wide appeal for a few percent lower than dealers price will find buyers pretty quickly, and you'll get more than by selling to a LCS which have overheads and staff?

If gold goes to 30,000 per Lynette Zang,….we are all singing in high cotton. But the best is to stay away from grams. Sure grab some - not judging (do as you please). But better to stay in 1/4 and above - also hunt out lowest premiums. Happy stacking !

@@LiquidMetalStacker I appreciated your video. Your video is not the ones many people make. It tells the truth of selling metals. (I like the 2 gram and 1/10 gold coins…just as I like silver coins). It’s important to get the lowest premiums we can, because when the “Selling Time” comes; the truth is we are only getting close to spot or something under spot. When these other channels, along with comments saying that they will “recoup” higher premiums they paid for *example American Silver Eagles, just isn’t true. We all saw American Silver Eagles over the summer selling for 20-24 dollars OVER Spot - and people trying to justify it. Yes, if Silver goes to $50 then we are all happy, but thinking that a LCS is going to give us $15 over spot for ASE is a False hope. There is another channel where the guy called a bunch of shops trying to see what they would buy ASE at, and he was getting offered $2.50 over spot (I think his example is closer to the truth out there for us). I grabbed a few 1/10 at $120-$170 years ago - and I am above water now; but it was not the soundest decision at the time. Keep stacking, thanks for sharing your experience.

    • @BlacksmithBets
      @BlacksmithBets 10 місяців тому

If you sell on the secondary market you get the premium back. It’s foolish to sell to an lcs when you can sell for a way better price to other stackers. Fractional gold is actually far more profitable because there are more buyers.

    • @lockheedload
      @lockheedload 10 місяців тому

@@BlacksmithBetsyea, because everyone has time to post on ebay to sell something. Wrong. Fractional gold is, by definition, less profitable than non-fractional as it carries a higher premium. Math doesn't lie.

I just watched a guy on a video right before this who was trying to trade a 1 oz Canadian maple leaf for anything and nobody the whole day traded him anything for it. Hats, sunglasses, half eaten ice cream you name it nobody took the coin. The coin was worth $1850 at the time of it's making.

Sorry brother. Your LCS isn't the bad guy, bars are much harder to sell than coins in the secondary market. Stackers buy gold to hold, but the shops want to move product to minimize their risk. When spot price drops, they get stuck with the gold they paid a higher price for because buyers won't pay too much more than spot.

I did the math that works best for me for I live in Canada. I found out that the best size/weight for lower premiums are (in order):
    - 1oz ($95+ over spot)
    - 10g ($150+)
    - 5g ($200+)
    - ½ oz ($230+)
    - ¼ oz ($270+)
    Note:
These calculations are as of Oct 2023 and what's currently available for the lowest prices per 1oz.
    Also the worsts are:
    - Sovereigns European ($970+ over spot)
    - ½⁰ oz ($940+)
    - 1g ($760+)
    - Sovereigns US ($480+)
    - ⅒ oz ($440+)

You: "I got some gold bars for sale;"
Rick:" Best i can do is 20$"
that's about the jist of it. I have not seen anyone telling outright that they have made any real good money on this, unless they bought it decades ago. If you plan on buying and reselling a short while later you are likely to get shortchanged, BIG time.
so is gold a good investment? well if you start real young and stack it until you are an old fart, then yes, but other than that nah....despite the appeal of it.
You are better off investing in the stock market.
