I’ve watched a lot of reactions to this first episode & so many reactors miss things that you picked up immediately (things like the dead child in the truck being the same one from earlier & Joel still wearing his broken watch). It makes it a lot more enjoyable when some understands the way writers & directors tell stories.

The concept is just existentially horrific. We have done a lot to our planet, but there are many things that we still can't control or stop, even with our advanced tech - we can't stop rats from breeding and spreading, the common cold from evolving, blights on certain crops. It's worryingly possible that a fungus like this could spread faster than we could develop a process to kill it off.
You are in for a ROUGH but REWARDING ride, it's so harsh and real what they do and the writers are amazing. It's 100% the most realistic what if apocalypse and how people survive...usually on the bones of other survivors....Enjoy!! 🙂
the intro to this show is imho one of the greatest scenes of TV ever. it so clearly sets the mood and foreshadows the story while also grounding it in a believable way.
one of the best series adapted from a video game ever infact for me probably one of the best series in the last 20 years, The acting by bella Ramsey and pedro pascal is world class.. truly amazing you will not be dissapointed. a good 70% is exactly like the video game.

But I fell in love with Bella Ramsey on Game Of Thrones, and when another of my subscribed reactors started to watch on her patreon, I decided to watch along. I didn't regret it. This is a great story, so well told.
Dear Sofie, you seem like a nice person so I'm glad you started OUAT as well as this. This is a fantastic story with superb acting, but it is going to be a rough ride at times. This isn't said to put you off, I think it is well worth experiencing, but it's good that you have a contrasting show to lift your mood too.

The only thing I knew about this was that it was a zombie thing and that there's a man and a girl (image from the game box/poster/ad) traveling across the country. I assumed they were father/daughter going into this. I also wanted to watch it to see Pedro and Bella, since I'm a huge GoT fan. I ended up loving the show. I hope you will, too.

The writing and acting is brilliant in this show. As with Sarah, you will often begin to really care about, and be invested in, characters that you might only have seen for 10 or 20 minutes. It's a disturbing show, but a great one. Loving your reaction to it so far.

It's not a horrorshow. It's a drama with horrorelements. There are no zombies here either. As you learned at the beginning, the fungus needs a living body to live and spread. In the early stages, even the victims still know exactly what they are doing, they just can't defend themselves when they kill someone. In the game, they even cried when the fungus rested in them.
It's a good thing Joel and Tess knew exactly what Marlene meant by "the old State House" - they could just as easily have thought she meant "the _Old_ State House" and delivered Ellie to a completely different building! As much as I like to make fun of the show's liberties with Boston geography, though, I do appreciate that they located the Quarantine Zone in the North End like that. It makes a lot of strategic sense, as FEDRA would only have to wall off one side, and the rest would be surrounded by water.
I've never been to Boston myself, but I remembered seeing a map of the city showing the place where they waited to see the lights in order to make the famous "The British are coming" speech, so when I saw the QZ was in Boston I immediately figured they would put it on that part of the city to be more defensible. That's probably why this QZ is doing okay where others have fallen to the infected.
This show is different than all other ‘Zombie’ shows it it is about love, loss, fatherhood, childhood, loss of innocence, and much more. Stick with it you will love it.

(By the way, people infected by the cordyceps fungus are NOT zombies which are dead creatures, they are called "infected" since the person is alive an being controlled by the fungus (in nature, they actually control insects that the infect) "Wake me up before you go-go" is a song by George Michael (then of "WHAM!) from the 1980s. 298,000 and counting!
It is a good series and very emotional. One of the best episodes of TV (in my opinion) comes from this show. It is definitely comparable to GoT (pre season 7) in terms of quality.

I don't know if it has been sais but the reason they got infected it's because of the Flour and Bread. Mushrooms and cordyceps in a bad batch of flour. Remember the cookies in the beginning ? No flour for the pancakes saved theirs lives.
The game is a whole different experience. You connect with the characters a lot more because there's a lot of exploring together and they have a bunch of conversations that develop the characters. You watch their relationships develop with each other.
What a call of ellie reaction to joel beating the soldier to death. Dont wanna spoll the 2nd season but have to comment about it Crazy just saw into your channel and remember I loved your reaction to the tnt boys flashlight years ago. Happy i love this reaction of the last of us now as well.

Appritiate the tears, the laughs, the reactions. For me zombie series or following a serial killing hunting criminals is intresting if done well not only due to unique setting, but it highlights huan morale questions great. What would you do. What is good, what is bad, what is grey. The Last of Us, The Walking Dead, Dexter these are 10/10 shows, where many times you forget the setting, they are very well written shows. Just like Buffy series with blood sucking vampires.
Yeah, I'd definitely say this show is more your speed. I kinda grew up on The Walking Dead so most of what this show threw at me kinda left me unfazed. I'm completely desensitized to being fearful of zombies/walkers (they call them that on TWD because in that universe no zombie books or movies exist) the clickers are quite a creepy threat, but they aren't dead. Unlike Zombies/Walkers the cordycepts need a live host so you don't have to go for the head only rule. Also, I love Pedro Pascal 😍 but the writers here really toned down how violent and menacing his Joel was. I was hoping they'd give him akin to Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes where he was brutal, cold, and honestly cruel but you'd still root for him. I mean Pascal has the acting chops, but they seem to want to water down such things today. Some of the comments saying TLOU isn't a Zombie/Apocalypse show its abour Love and loss are right but also wrong. The show is both and there is nothing wrong with that. After all TWD isn't just a zombie/Apocalypse show either its a show about a Father's love and drive to protect his son, found family, and how even when the chips are down and hope is waning. You can find it in other people. The game is phenomenal btw, 11/10.

I don't know if it has been sais but the reason they got infected it's because of the Flour and Bread. Mushrooms and cordyceps in a bad batch of flour. Remember the cookies in the beginning ? No flour for the pancakes saved theirs lives.

The game is a whole different experience. You connect with the characters a lot more because there's a lot of exploring together and they have a bunch of conversations that develop the characters. You watch their relationships develop with each other.

I’m like you. I was skeptical about watching this show be I don’t like zombies either… but this is a GREAT SHOW. As great a Game of Thrones and certainly better than House of the Dragon

For me zombie series or following a serial killing hunting criminals is intresting if done well not only due to unique setting, but it highlights huan morale questions great.

The Last of Us, The Walking Dead, Dexter these are 10/10 shows, where many times you forget the setting, they are very well written shows. Just like Buffy series with blood sucking vampires.
Yeah, I'd definitely say this show is more your speed. I kinda grew up on The Walking Dead so most of what this show threw at me kinda left me unfazed. I'm completely desensitized to being fearful of zombies/walkers (they call them that on TWD because in that universe no zombie books or movies exist) the clickers are quite a creepy threat, but they aren't dead. Unlike Zombies/Walkers the cordycepts need a live host so you don't have to go for the head only rule. Also, I love Pedro Pascal 😍 but the writers here really toned down how violent and menacing his Joel was. I was hoping they'd give him akin to Andrew Lincoln's Rick Grimes where he was brutal, cold, and honestly cruel but you'd still root for him. I mean Pascal has the acting chops, but they seem to want to water down such things today. Some of the comments saying TLOU isn't a Zombie/Apocalypse show its abour Love and loss are right but also wrong. The show is both and there is nothing wrong with that. After all TWD isn't just a zombie/Apocalypse show either its a show about a Father's love and drive to protect his son, found family, and how even when the chips are down and hope is waning. You can find it in other people. The game is phenomenal btw, 11/10.
