I remember when we were younger in the Philippines and this show was so popular. We used our mom’s large wok as our “arena” and we bought these Beyblades from the market and they were heavy made with metal like the disks shown here and they did spark just like that. It was awesome haha

I wasn't sure if this was going to be about Thunder Dragon or about Spark Attacker, but I was not expecting a display of the old Sparking Weight Disks. Also, I'm stunned these things spark as much as they do. I was expecting something more like the Sparking Launchers (where they're mostly self-contained).

Great vid! That took me back when Beyblade was a thing here in Philippines waaayy back 2003-2005. We all have these metal discs with lighter flints, though are not official but were customed ti fit every single bey. 🤣
We also use ignited isopropyl alcohol on the arena for a more dramatic effect haha

There's an HMS beyblade, called Thunder Serpent, that's literally build to spark.
It has a free spinning attack ring with sandpaper inside it and a non-movable metal piece with 3 flints under the bit chip; this solution allows the bey to spark during launch as well.
Yeah, sandpapered weight discs can make bigger sparks but I think the trick on thunder serpent it's waaaay cooler and better executed
Thunder serpent has same gimmick as plastic gens sparkling attacker. The difference here is I can put these on any plastic gen beyblade so for that reason I think this is vastly cooler. I could put on of these on sparkling attacker and have double the sparkling lol.

Gimmick works better in same height bases, I think they were designed jus to to make a resemblance to Spark Knight and SPARK TYPES Characters so if you use two of them being stamina type on Sharp Base the battle makes sense completely.

I remember seeing the flint mostly in fakes back in the day. I remember and handful of times me and my brother had sparks happen when we both used 8/10 wides haha

Be interesting if they found a way to combine these with the later generation, burst in particular lol. Hard impact that causes sparks and then one bursts would be cool, could even say it's add some "spark" to the battles..........

You can probably get flint paper or whatever these strips are and add double sided tape to make one at home and in any weight disc

Man frostic is nuts lmao. Still a relevant attack ring all the way through the plastic gen. Shame it was never allowed to left spin.
As for the spark weights, super cool! I actually have one! But only one so I can't do much with it outside if use it as a wide survivor lol. Doesn't have the sandpaper or flint on it yet, those are stored with my other gimmick add-ons.
Out of curiosity, do you have any suggestions on where to source a decent older stadium like Tornado Attack? eBay prices for the things are nuts unless you buy a cheapo knockoff.
Buyee is a good place to keep an eye on stuff.
Follow up with a low light room setting, so we can really see those sparks fly...or put gas at the center of a stadium and see what happens

That’s hard, I know some of the best stuff I don’t have and is very expensive. One of the budget attack combos I would use back in the day was Trygle ar, 10 heavy, hm core gaia dragoon v bb
@@nizumablader thats exceptional for a budget setup too, minus being fragile Trygles AR is basically the benchmark for good moderate recoil smash attackers.

How do we get the flint strips
The sparking weight disks were packed in pairs. They don’t pop up that often. Best bet is eBay or Japanese auction sites.
