I really wished Todd never retired....he was such a refreshing force of a talent, but being in the industry myself, i can completely understand why ! Thanks for highlighting him ❣
My question is what do you guys do when the inspiration takes over, and you can’t stop with design ideas? Do you just keep them in your sketchbook and store them away? Because you know the inspiration just possesses you and forces you to get those creative ideas out of your system. You can’t relax until you do. Just curious…
I am a tail end boomer like Todd, and its such a strange place to be because a lot of us don't have the morality of older boomers, I lost jobs because I was hiring people by talent instead of skin. I think I was supposed to be respecting white fragility, but I needed a staff that could get things done, and fragility isn't in the skill set I was looking for.
I could listen to Todd Oldham talk about his designs and relationships with others for hours -- it's such a blessing to be able to hear him contextualize these very complex patchwork garments and reminisce about the titanic force of André.
TODD!!!!!!!!!!! He looked just like he did in that snapshot around the 1:29 mark when he used to come to the restaurant where I worked in Dallas. A very nice guy and very generous tipper. I did not know him well, but when I approached him about a donation for the Texas AIDS Ride in 2000, he gave me $250.00 and autographed the thank you note I sent him and mailed it back to me! (We Love Roger!!) I havent seen him in years, so that grey beard was a shock but he is still obviously the nice and unaffected guy he always was.
love that Todd carried a print for 20 years until he found the perfect project for it 🥰 a true artist! also really beautiful the way he speaks about André❤🖤💚
....VALENTINO did the SAME THING...he had an INSANE ORIENTAL PRINTED SILK...that he had for DECADES...and he made an GORGEOUS CAFTAN for ANDRE when VALENTINO had his last haute couture show...and the ladies in the WORKROOM were AMAZED WHEN HE PUT IT ON...
Andre Leon Telly was truly and iconic inspirational figure. He has such an amazing impact on fashion, and his mark will remain for many years years to come
Does anyone remember House of Style on MTV? Todd's tutorial on how to apply foundation, concealer and bronzer on Cindy Crawford is how I learned at age 13. That was when I fell in love with make up. He also showed us how to decorate our dorms/bedrooms on a budget. This man is a gift.
....SHE...is MY GIRL...she wore a lot of his things...she upstaged a big celebrity wedding wearing one of his outfits...and i met the celebrity when the celeb was shopping and she was not the nicest person so i was glad that ROSHUMBA got tons of press and the bride DIDN"T...
Wow....what a profound and prophetic statement...."If you're gonna do something no one needs......" In this time of "everyone is a designer" so many people need to understand this!! Todd and I are about the same age, and must have arrived in NYC around the same time. I remember him appearing onto the fashion stage and the buzz. I think I even saw one of his shows at the Puck. Really wish I'd gotten to meet him back then. I have since meandered my way through fashion/theatre and lived in several cities since then...but Todd will always be dear to my memory.
I was so proud back in 1996 when I purchased my one and only Todd Oldham original I still have it Can’t fit my arm into it even but now my daughter can wear it
❤❤ Awe, it's Todd Oldham! It's so nice to see him again. Loved his prints. I had a few pieces. I was just thinking about him. He used Roshumba a lot. Loved that.
Is he working at the CI? Having a show? I'm visiting NY this week and would love to see that. Last time I went to the CI Giorgio di'Santangelo's lover was the curator and Stefan Houy Towner was the assistant.
This was so moving to me. It brought back my early days in design and the sense of the joy in creating in days past. Todd was such a beacon then and now, he is a wise man and keeper of the flames that burned so brightly. I admit to being fahrklempt, with all the love and respect that causes such feelings. Such a loving, kind heart. It was a different time.
What a charming artist/creator! I appreciate his appreciation of those who helped and supported his creative career. This was a delightful profile. Thank you.
Beside fashion, Todd inspired me to listen to my muse and experiment with various art forms. I used to LOVE watching his TV show. I learned a lot from him. Thank you!
"Do you want me to make you one?" Todd Oldham is a gem.
That was the sweetest part. He was like hmmm something is missing, how can I help
...i KNEW that he was going to say that...i have always heard that he was a kind fun person....
The way Todd speaks about Andre is so heart warming ☺
andre was the first - he opened the door for many. he was a beautiful, talented, intelligent soul! He will never be replaced or duplicated!
@@jos.3649I agree!
That's the meaning of "legacy" for me; the impact of your presence (& absence) unrelated to commerce or "status". 🙏🏾💎💚
And his transparency about the industry
Andre , what a man ... he's missed .
Todd Oldham documentary pleas!
💯💯💯 and a book!
PLEASE
Todd seems like the most pleasant person you could ever meet.
He definitely was.
I really wished Todd never retired....he was such a refreshing force of a talent, but being in the industry myself, i can completely understand why ! Thanks for highlighting him ❣
Truly one of the best innovators in fashion.
True
I still go back and watch his runways. They are soooo amazing and fun!
Maybe i'm delusional but I still hold out hope that he'll make a return...
I think he does costume design now, so at least he's working his magic.

For us 90's kids / teens who were into fashion, Todd gave life and sensibility and magic and fun! 💖🌈💖
Definitely! He revolutionized 90s fashion! Just Iconic & also kind! Wow!
Agreed!!!
💖🌹RAVE ON!!!🌹💖
I love that he praised Rashumba Willams. She was a world-class beauty who should have amassed hundreds of magazine covers.
Agreed!!!

I love patchworking. I'm drawn to colors and patterns and the joy and life it brings to wearable art.
I love anyone that is keeping ALT's legacy alive!
Amen

We need more Todd these days. Thank you!
Oh you’re so right 🌈
Todd's honestly ❤❤❤
Andre Leon Telly was truly and iconic inspirational figure. He has such an amazing impact on fashion, and his mark will remain for many years years to come
In the 90's I was obsessed with Todd's work. It was always fun and alive. It's a pleasure to see him again.
What a delightful man. Gracious, grateful and present. We should all be more like Todd.
I'm in tears... that was beautiful. What a gentle, creative soul Todd Oldham is. And what a lovely tribute to the Great Andre Leon Talley.

Roshumba‼️🔥💥💥💥
She’s 😍

what a treasure you are Todd. such beautiful energy, always.
I’ve always felt like Todd Oldham was magic. I adore him.
So great to see and hear Todd speak so beautifully and poignantly about Andre....always loved Todd's prints❤
I bought a shirt of him from 1987 in Dallas and I wore that shirt and kept with me for nearly 20 years. Middle age finally caught up with me. 😅
I remember when he lived in the white art deco house on Gaston.
I watched every second of MTV during the late 80's and 90's and I feel like Todd was just another VJ because he was always on.
Same!! He & Cindy made magic! 🪄
YES! TY for the reminder....😄
MTV House of Style
❤ Loved House of Style.
He was on a lot. All those models during that era wore Todd. Cindy Crawford in that slinky striped gown
Todd is a great human being. I met him while attending NYU back in 97, and went to a few of his shows.
Wonderful to see Mr. Oldham and to see his work being preserved with such care. Thank you.
The most talented,& NICEST person!! #ToddOIsGorgeous
This was absolutely lovely! Two fashion icons Todd Oldham and Andre Leon Talley. Well done.❤
Todd is a precious soul. There is no one else like him since. I wish him a great revival. The model's designer of choice of the time, I believe
His shows were always so much fun, you could see and feel it.

TODD DESERVES HIS FLOWERS ASAP!! 😍❤️❤️❤️

Tod Oldham always brings a smile to my face. Was first introduced to him in the 90s through MTV's House of Style. 🥰
I hope Andre Leon Talley's legacy and impact will never be forgotten.
I love that statement” if you are going to create something no one needs you better bring it”
I was so proud back in 1996 when I purchased my one and only Todd Oldham original
I still have it
Can’t fit my arm into it even but now my daughter can wear it
Lucky you! Regrettably, I no longer have my favorite, vivid Todd Oldham top. His style was for the truly adventurous.🤠
❤❤ Awe, it's Todd Oldham! It's so nice to see him again. Loved his prints. I had a few pieces. I was just thinking about him. He used Roshumba a lot. Loved that.
Todd notices the missing belt and volunteers to remake one.
I still have a design magazine with Todd's country home.
What an extraordinary creature, Todd!
I cherish my Todd Oldham gems. I wish he would make a comeback. He was so unique and talented.
His 1995 spr/sum and fall/winter lines were 🔥

You can tell Todd really loved Andre 🥰
