- After collecting the Atari Jaguar for over 20 years, I have finally completed a licensed cart collection. My journey started in the late 90s when I got my first Jaguar. Since then I have collected it a little at a time until now I have a licensed cart collection. The CD collection will be in a different video. Have you played the Jaguar? Do you collect it? Watching this video just reminds me how not worth it the Jaguar is.
the jaguar was a unique console, it also had the best version of pitfall: the mayan adventure!
I own Pitfall for Jaguar. Yes, it's great with nice graphics, but it's difficult sometimes and savepoints are few and far between. A little frustrating.

Love seeing the Jaguar collection! It’s a system that, I have yet to ever see in person.
I live in Northern NJ and I remember when I heard they released "test run" consoles to NYC and CA I immediately got on my rotary phone (no joke!) and started calling any video game stores I could find in the city that had one. Lucky for me I found one little store in the village IIRC and the store employee had ONE left. He agreed to hold it for me as I took the 20 some odd minute ride in. I remember being so happy driving through the tunnel on the way back to NJ with my new console. I actually did have fun with Cybermorph (hey, it was the only game I had at that point and I just spent $249.99...better have some fun!) and shortly after picked up Tempest at a local PC Richard and fell in love.
I know the Jag was a let down to a lot of people for lack of games as well as lack of quality games, but there were some gems on it that I feel makes the console certainly worth owning. Nowadays it really is worth owning as all of this great homebrew stuff is around. But even back then I always wanted to keep it around just for Tempest 2000. I feel the Jag version is the best version to play...even over the PS1 and Saturn ports.
I still have my Jaguar and I still have two games ;) I wish I had more but as time has gone on they have just become too unreasonable price wise to purchase. I will be one happy camper if I ever get my hands on that JagSD cart....just to be able to try/play the games I have not been able to!

My mom got me a jaguar. I had never heard of it but I loved my Atari consoles so i was very excited. I had a copy zool 2 and Tempest 2000 and literally never found another game..
Awesome collection man. I remember the Jaguar being advertised and it made me want one sooooooo bad. I only ever saw one in KB toys but it was newer and really expensive. Although I never owned one I gave cool memories about it. Thank you for the video.
Luckily I have an official Pro Controller (with Atari logo). I am living in Germany (Bavaria) and searched the Internet for a Pro Controller for several months. In Michigan (USA), I found this nice Atari Jaguar joypad in a small electronics Internet store for about 45 Euros (including shipping costs from the USA to Germany). That was about 11 years ago. Happy collecting!
Although living in Sweden I got my 2 Pro controllers and Jag CD + some CD games from UK.
Fun Fact: See that Bear on the cover of Atari Karts, well that's a mascot from a much older Atari 2600/arcade game...None other than "Crystal Castle" character Bentley Bear!
I always wanted this console, but I remembered it being way expensive for some reason...

It's always impressive to see someone have a complete collection of a game console. I never played/owned the Jaguar, but I wondering if any of the games got a port/remaster/remake to more modern consoles.

Nice! I remember the Jaguar at our local Electronics Boutique and poking fun at the controller. Now I wish I’d gotten one on clearance.
I use to have one years ago. Wasnt a huge fan but I enjoyed alien vs predator on it.
Small world. I bought my Jaguar from KB Toys too. $39.95. I also picked up some games and an S-Video cable. Since then I've bought several more games, including some Atari ST ports. I always upgrade to the Clear Cart if it's an option.

my collection is kinda small but i think i got most of the killer titles- wolfenstien, club drive, raiden, defender, protector, alien vs predator, mcfur, vortek, tempest, zool2, breakout
Nice video john, in my circle of friends I'm known as the odd man out because I'll gush about this and the 3do almost annoyingly. It's my dream to have a full set of these one day as well, I have about 15.

I like the Jaguar, I had it a few years ago. There where some good games, and I still want to try and figure out the keypad buttons on the jumbo controller, Lol good stuff from Atari
I was going to pick up an Atari Jaguar. Might be the best looking videogame console box displays ever, but there are only like 5 games worth picking up for me😅

I personally don't count Air Cars. It wasn't available in brick & mortar. The 5 late Telegames were sold at EB (Zero 5, Towers 2, IS2, Worms, Breakout 2K). Awesome you had Air Cars though. My top 5 Jaguar games:
1. Super Burnout
2. Doom
3. AvP
4. Wolfenstein 3D
5. Iron Soldier
I sold my Jaguar recently and made a very good profit, its a very good investment buy if you can find one cheap

rwer qwrqwr that’s the problem. Everyone does this and now it’s hard to find them for less than $200. If everyone sold for profit in a few years it’s going to $400 for just a base system.
@@TheBic4 I get your point and I'm not saying it's invalid, but I used the profit I made to buy more retro games on different platform's.
I'm not a scalper but buying consoles etc at the right time and then reselling to buy games you will enjoy more is not the worst crime in the world.

A group of very talented people on atari age are trying to make the unreleased Jag-duo system, think sega CDX. They already made the PCBs based on original documentation. Its crazy how big the following for the jaguar is.

Kicking myself still. Clearance sale had three Catbox's for $50 each! Thought I would wait until cheaper but business closed soon after. At first I thought they were a third party item because of the aluminum case.
I think I want to go for this collection but these games are not cheap anymore in this is going to take me a few years.... Nevermind more like a decade

This is one of the systems I wish I had a bigger collection of. I have my holy grail which is AVP but would like to own more. I got mine clearanced at KAYBTOYS as well along with ULTRA VORTEK which is an okay fighting game but not much else. Its one of those systems where it was here instantly then gone almost overnight. Not really a bad system but it wasn't what we were led to believe it was. Still want a complete collection though, TEMPEST 2000 is my next sought after. Awesome video John!
Sensible soccer is the best game by far. Call some friends into your house, plug the game and have a great day playing it.

The majority of Jaguar games have average or better ratings. I've seen ratings on the gamefaqs website where the jaguar has a number of good games.

AVP was worth it alone for the system back in the day. Great early FPS, with the exploring and unlocking new areas like super Metroid. Great atmosphere too, and the alien hive textures were legit
Wish I could get Battlesphere, keep hoping a reprint will happen!

I love stickers too! I have some games with neat clearance stickers from Electronics Boutique and Microplay (Canadian company).
How do you not own Rebooteroids? One of the best/most fun titles on the Jag!
Im almost 100% certain, that KB Toys had the most in store supplies of Jaguar anything from 1994-1998

On my list of consoles I would like to collect for. But I think I will get the amiga cd32 first and hopefully move on to the atari jaguar in the future some point :)

@@johnhancockretro yeah I want one as I have been playing the amiga 500 a lot lately and the history behind amiga cd32 got me wanting one. But here in the UK it's still not cheap but I have my trade pile ready to get one :) if that makes sense.

Great collection, still have my Jaguar in perfect working Condition, got it shortly after release and bought the CD unit at the time, I guess I have to take it out for a spin, havent played for a long time and I still need to aquire a lot of the Games, by the way what is Zero5 like? Are the Controls any good? Looks great to me graphics-wise.

Greg they offer spinner controllers on Ebay. The one John has is an "Opal" controller (it's available on Ebay). Other games use this controller as well, such as Rebooteroids and Arkanoid.

Damn John that’s gotta be worth some coin. I just got a Jaguar a couple years ago when I bought a sega CD and 32x from someone, he threw it in as an extra. I don’t have the cables or controllers, so it’s just sitting in a box for now. Hopefully someday I’ll get a game or two for it.
I noticed the telegames releases you own have the circle hologram jaguar stickers on them. Did they come like that or did you put them on there? I ask because I am wondering if the original releases came with those stickers? The ones you can order from songbird do not come with those stickers.

@@cpiep Rereleases from Telegames themselves. There are also original releases of Jaguar games that have stickers on them too.

I have a ad in a old gamepro magazine showing teenage mutant Ninja turtles: tournament fighters for jaguar. Showed a box and all NXT to other systems it was released on....did it not come out? I didn't see it in ur collection???!
Jedi Master there were lots of ads back in the day for jaguar games that never were released. The best one was a two-pager that announced “Let The Games Begin!” and showed about 20-30 games. I’m still waiting
