Red Panda Particle 2 Granular Delay / Pitch Shifter

  • "Particle™ is a granular delay / pitch shifting pedal. It chops your signal into small grains and then rearranges, shifts, and mangles it, using the techniques of granular synthesis in real time. Results range from radical pitch and delay modulation to shimmering repeats to time stretching, stutter, and glitch sounds."
    Each mode can do a lot and just by tweaking one knob it can turn into an entirely different effect. This video just features short examples of each mode. I will make another video with more explanation. There will be a link here when I post the video.

    This is going to sound effusive, but I feel like this video is the first one that actually helped me understand all the modes on Particle v2, and I’ve watched a lot of them!

      Thank you! I try to use the range of settings that represent the pedals/modes the best so it’s good to know it doesn’t look/sound like random knob tweaking!

    Very helpful, because you demo the pedal so focused and the clear descriptions on screen make it easy to follow.
    Speaking of which: An extra thanks for leaving them texts on screen not only long enough to read till the end but also to have enough time to really understand what each knob is actually doing while you turn it…
    Your vid spared me some serious amount of hours with the manual, and I enjoyed listening to your sounds. Looking forward to try that stuff with my Particle v2.
    A big thumbs up!

      Agreed! It might seem/sound like it does the same thing in all modes but everything makes much more sense and the pedal opens up when you just RTFM.

      Would you recommend the Particles over the Chase Bliss Mood? I am looking for a Pedal that's kind of in the whimsical granular delay territory.

    • @jrr832
      @jrr832 3 роки тому

      @@mcwookie2800 They are different beasts, the Particle is more of a messed up delay, whereas the Mood is a looper

    • @DoNoise
      @DoNoise  3 роки тому +1

      @@mcwookie2800 I wouldn’t say Mood is a granular delay. If what you want is granular delay then go with Particle. I’m working on a granular delay video which might be helpful. Coming soon, I hope.

    I'd love to love the P2, but in the end, to me, it sounds like there is but a very narrow range of settings that lead to original effects. Go beyond these and the P2 sounds like a vibrato/slicer effect on steroids. The Tensor is much more versatile IMHO.

  • @algarridm

    • @DoNoise

      It’s limited in traditional delay sounds. You can get digital delay and modulated delay sounds but not tape or analog style sounds.

      Me too - i had a reply from ThePedalZone which may help ?
      If you're looking for a more "normal" delay experience. Something that feels and sounds like a familiar delay, but with powerful experimental pitch-shifting and modulation features, then go for Raster 2. If you want something that's absolutely different from the get-go, something that's squarely aimed at texture and not so much familiar delays (even though it can do that if you absolutely want it to), then go for Particle 2.

      @@DoNoise I like the canyon's variety of fx, the CV control, and stereo out. If it had Stereo in instead of looping, I would be a happy camper. That and the Ocean's 12 are probably my favorite ehx pedals. They feel more modern than a lot of their others.

    I feel like I need the particle. I passed because I already have a beautiful delay (solid gold fx Electroman mk ii), but this pedal is so inspiring and goes way beyond delay. Besides, I have the tensor and the context v2, and I absolutely love them both. Fuck it. The particle is required.

    I've been watching vids of various exotic pedals.
    It seems like they make great sounds, but it's like you barely play your guitar at all.
    Anyone else feel this way?

    • @DoNoise
      @DoNoise  2 роки тому +1

      I tried that but the videos turned out to be quite boring…
      Joking aside I think it’s somewhat harder to play with pedals like these. You need to adapt your playing style to make it sound at least decent.

      What I wrote was unclear and easily misunderstood.
      The word "you" did not mean you- the maker of this video.
      It meant any guitar player using one of these types of pedals.
      Sorry for any misunderstanding.
      I really want to improve as a guitarist. Alternative sounds could be fun and inspiring, but I don't want to be seduced too far off the path to actual musicianship.
      I'm feeling my way towards the proper balance, for me

      @@mikec6733 A great set of pedals will increase your playing time. Plus you can compose new things to different sounds. I hear you about the Johnny one note style of pedals, and keyboards. It's like, look everyone, I'm playing this patch with one note and now it's a song! But when pedals do this, gotta scale it back and use them as a texture.
