Do you have to pull the fuel pump relay? Couldn't you just remove the electrical connection to the pump then start the car to remove pressure in the line?
Hey I’ve got an issue without any engine codes besides a random multiple misfire. I’ve replaced plugs and coils already. There is a strong odor of gas from the driver side of the car. Yet no leaking gas on the ground. When I start the car it idles normal and after about20-30 seconds it starts the misfire. Could this be the fuel pump or something fuel related?
same procedure for 2011 and newer gens ACURA TL. all the same setup basically. Im putting mine in today as we speak. i wouldnt recommend draining the old fuel pump gas back into tank. deposits and residual sediment can be at bottom of pump. id just remove the whole thing with its filter etc.
If my car battery is completely dead, how do I release the gas pressure? Even with a jump there’s no fuel getting to the engine because the pump went out and it won’t turn all the way over. It’ll start but won’t turn over.

Seems like replacing the fuel pump relay while you have it out would be a prudent step.
