I'm Australian and travelled around Canada for a month in 2019. Jasper was one of the areas I went to and I fell in love with the little mountain town. I first met one of my Canadian mates at Jasper Brewing Company so to see it still standing is reassuring. I've shed a few tears for my Canadian brothers and sisters. It's such a beautiful part of the world and so devastating what's happened. I'm hoping to head back over to Canada next year and will absolutely visit Jasper again. Stay strong, buds ❤️

Its an absolute disgrace how inept this Government is. You would almost think they wanted it to burn.

As a local, this is an ignorant comment. There were multiple lightning caused fires within 10k of town which all started simultaneously, and with 30°+ weather for over two weeks leading up to this, plus high winds, created the perfect storm that even the best prepared government wouldn't have been able to do much about.
This comes from someone who hates our governments

@justadildeau honey, the Federal Govt pays Alberta 300 million dollars for fire suppression of national parks in the province through the CFWIS. Based on your username though, reality doesn't matter to you and thats why canada is literally laughing and making fun of this. This couldn't happen to a more deserving group of voters.

Marjorie Taylor Greene thought that the 2018 California wildfires were ignited by a space laser controlled by a corporate cabal, including the Rothschild banking firm, which is objectively ridiculous.
What difference does it make if fires are started by Jewish space lasers, careless campers or lightning? Hot dry weather is going to allow fires to burn much longer regardless of the reason for ignition.

Alberta had one of the BEST wildfire programs in the world until 2019.
Despite MULTIPLE warnings, UCP cut MILLIONS from firefighting programs. We’re now seeing the consequences
    MAJOR UCP wildfire cuts:
The UCP Eliminated the 63-man Aerial Rapattack Team
The UCP killed 30 of Alberta’s 127 Wildfire Lookout Towers
The UCP cut the Air Tanker Program by 13%
The UCP cut rural firefighter training in 2020.
The UCP made cuts to the Alberta Wildfire Branch in 2021 eliminating Wildfire Rangers & Info Officers
The UCP made 10% more cuts in 2022! This impacted wildfire personnel, resulting in later contractual start dates and earlier end dates
Alberta became short staffed in key roles

    Looky Loos.
Surely all of us know by now how devastating this situation is by the imagery were seeing taken by those working in the disaster area.
People have lost everything they have. They're in shock, traumatized and grieving. They should be the FIRST to see the ruins of their homes and businesses - should they CHOOSE.
If its safe for bureacrats and reporters to go there, WHY are residents who lost homes or businesses not allowed in FIRST?????
Instead, the first to tour are a wave of Bureaucrats. And then the second to tour is buses of reporters. Those who lost homes and businesses get to see whats left of their lives, through images, on the news or social media.
I found this distasteful with the Fort Mac fires and now here again.

    • @GregoryVincent-s6o
      @GregoryVincent-s6o 2 місяці тому

It would take far to long & expensive to bus 5000 residents thru Jasper compared to one bus load of reporters who are reporting on their behalf . It’s still an active fire zone they don’t want people there as is . & to try and reach out to each home owner , business owner would to be tedious work . It makes more sense to just air it publicly .
I lost my home to fire years ago & the media were already there recording it before I had even arrived back home 🤷🏻
      It is what it is

I got a raise this year $20 a week. That's $520 a year. I am a home owner. Everything has gotten so costly. I am going behind. This is why people become homeless. You can't afford a home. Up-keep, Heat/Cooling, Water and Sewer, Insurance, Food and Clothing. My bills went up $4000. It's getting scary.

Alberta needs to produce more oil so there is more pollution, more climate change, more rise in temperatures and finally more fires and destruction. Go with Poilievre for that!

People needs to use the trees and litter in the forest to stop wildfires. A well managed forest is better than a preserved one. A preserved and unused forest is literally matchbox. Plant and use.

homelessness is ultimately the society's fault (shockingly) : we could not help those who are most vulnerable then we just decide to sweep them under the rug, they were already forgotten part of society, removing them? what does that even mean. that shows who we are as people of 1st world country not our shinny right or left politician, do we really care about each other?
