Kia orana no te singers. Nemine the other pumao veo commenting. I'm happy to hear our words sung by anyone. The intent was respectful and gentle. I'm singing along and enjoying. Bless you both from Tokoroa (the 16th island in the Cooks)
I think these two has done a great job with the song. Its like us trying to speak french or samoan that we cant really pronounce it well. I think any foreign artist or papaa singer trying to sing an Aitutakian song, no matter how great they sing in their own lingo its never going to be perfect. I think we should be proud of these two, who made a great effort to sing a Cook Island Aitutakian Song, they could have chosen song from else where, so yeah well done to both of you
This was so beautiful you both did a awesome job i am from New Zealand i miss the Polynesian culture music being away from home too long, always a pleasure too come here too listen hope you don't mind me sharing God bless and keep posting from Canada!!
I know what you mean, but these two are trying their best to sing our songs, Rob is of Samoan, niuean,Tongan, Papaa heritage and Anna of cook island/Chinese, Atiuan,Aitutakian and papaa from the Estall side and our Tahitian side, let's encourage them.
yes. these 2 sang it beuatiful. to me love how you both sang the lyrics good. i dont care how hard you both tried to say some words, but you just smash the roof off. So beuatiful you 2. keep up the good work.👍✌👊
tino ataahua tenei, this is very beautiful, and despite some comments below, first time I have heard this and I think it's great that next gen are taking on challenges such as songs from other cultures, yes pronunciation is important, however,he mea aha tena? Kia Kaha korua i ou mahi. This could be our old world reuniting you realise? Albeit through the many backgrounds from which we originate, that DNA programme is one to watch(not that I have) but just proves we are ONE end of day ne. Be strong in what you do,let no one tell you your boundaries(what fences are for) Go hard,be strong,tu tonu
Hey guys I do not understand the words but it is so romantic and beautiful and Rob you are so handsome and Anne gorgeous did a good one. Anyway thanks and listen to this over and over again. My an islander and love it so much. Actually admired Rob for his voice and it matches with the song so romantic. Love you Rob and wish you can sing more. Take care and know that someone out there loves you whole-heartedly.
Since Liz Monga we haven't had an update version of this beautiful song. Well done you two.. I was wondering if someone had used digital magic to bring my cousin Anna back to sing. But like the song this girl is an update version. So Kia orana my niece, I'm not surprised you have mums gift..
love this song and yous both should do more im so inlove with this song .. both of your voice is so amazing and beauty .. are yous both niuean half cook ??
Awesome sounds beautiful tunes and your voice, both amazing... thank you for sharing this rendition of Utataki ... maybe a little bit more learning of the language to make sure what you are pronouncing is correct "enua anau noku e" ... "enua ravarava enua aka'ie'ie" "te no'o nei ki Aotearoa" "ma'ara'ara ia koe ...
Fakaalofa atu and Kia Orana Rob and Anna. I love your cover version of this Cook Island song 'Utataki'. I sing this song in our band and yes there are a few errors with the words so embrace the constructive comments you are getting here especially Scott Matapakia's comment or from other speakers of the Cook Island language. Use them to your advantage and keep growing. The saddest part for me as a teacher is observing other teachers taking lyrics off You Tube videos including National Anthems and teaching these to the younger generation inclusive of non-edited errors and all. The best advice is to get someone who knows the language or the song to go through the content with you before you record it. Don't be too hard on yourselves too, this is a worldwide problem - others attempting cover songs in languages other than their own and making pronunciation errors of lyrics. I attended a wedding a few years back where a Cook Island live band was singing a Niue song and of course being Niuean / Fijian I was so proud even though there were a few errors with their pronunciation of some words. I know of some Non Fijian artists who recorded Fijian songs that had pronunciation mistakes in their songs and so many other examples. Others however put extra effort in learning the ins and outs of songs. I was in Brisbane when I heard this Samoan band performing Malcolm Lakatani's s 'Nukututaha' song - they were amazing. Their lyrics were 100% spot on and it just made the song absolutely beautiful to listen to. So all the best, keep your wonderful sounds going because your contribution to our Pacific music is very much valued!!
wow this would be Kura's daughter I thought it was the original Anna then I remembered kura n Marianne has a Anna good attempt at singing the song thou...
hey uncle Charlie from Vulcan Steel Aucks..is this the song u telling me about..i already commented lol..cheers bro..but you still number 2 driver..lol
I totally agree Abe.Cook Island music is what it is and it has to be that good that artists from other nationalities are singing and enjoying it.I am not a "KUKI" but I can't get enough of the sounds from the Cook Islands.
It is a good try, ill give them that, But just remember, when singing another song from another culture, ensure that u learn it and deliver it wel, because if you dont do justice to the song, then it's disrespectful to even attempt it, because you choose not to go through the proper channels and just did it on your own.... Maanga tuatua teia, e tangata kuki airani nei au, no aitutaki mai au, so just encouragement to those who want to sing songs from other cultures...
bro chill man...greatest compliment I reckon when a brother or sister from another culture enjoys ours enough to have a go...great effort guys...e tama Aitutaki au, anau ia ki konei, e te noo nei rai ki konei, e te mananako anga ka akangaroi rai ki konei.

Emry Daniels Puma’u not pumao. They could have asked people for the proper words like you with your Pumao.
I think these two has done a great job with the song. Its like us trying to speak french or samoan that we cant really pronounce it well.
