Awesome! This will definitely be beneficial in rain and snow. And I'll bet it looks brand new for much longer I'll say I always like how methodical Nick is! It is never a bad thing to be overcautious and you get great results
Here is my problem. I have dyed my top with Forever Black and then I sprayed interior ceramic on it a couple days later. I realized that the top needs another layer of Forever Black. Am I able to put another layer of Forever Black even though it has a 1 week old interior ceramic coating?
@@diydetailofficial thanks yea I figured it wouldn’t. I’ll have to put two layers on it when the interior ceramic wears out. Do you know how long interior ceramic will last on the top? The car is not stored in a garage and it rains a lot here in SC.
Can you also use Quick Beads on the top? BTW, I have never been told about the non use of a pressure washer on the top. Oops, it's only about 600 psi with the setup I have, but I'll stop using that immediately.
Great video! It is good to know this only has to be done once a year. Does any other product need to be applied after a regular wash to help protect the fiber top?
After talking about buying a mustang conv. for seven years ago, i bought it two years ago. the rag top was fairly new. I stored it in a municipal garage with a ton of pigeons. I got all the mess off the first year but the second I kept going to clean it but didnt follow thru. I got most of the pigeon droppings off using dish soap and a tooth brush. there are small remnants of droppings but now i have bleached looking portions of the roof about two inches wide. What do I do?
Thanks for sharing this knowledge. I ask for advice. Is there a way to eliminate the creases that normally form on the convertible top over time? Thanks for the reply.
You can’t eliminate them, but they can be reduced by keeping the top clean and protected. Those creases are caused by the fabric being damaged by dust in the weave.
@@diydetailofficial Thank you for your kind reply. So not even a delicate handheld clothes steamer would be able to iron the creases? Thanks for sharing the knowledge about him. Greetings from Italy.
Great video guys. Do you have any suggestions on cleaning the convertible top lid? This has always stumped me and I end up washing it and rinsing it a few inches at a time. Thanks
Had a detailer not do a thorough job with waterproofing, and the convertible top has spots from the waterproofing, he did not spray evenly, the product he used is gtechnig smart fabric, I have Raggtopp fabric cleaner , if I spray this on and work it in will this remove the gtechnig spots on my convertible top? This happened about 3 weeks ago, what do you suggest I do?
I don’t understand, What about the detailer? Will the waterproofing spots from gtechnig fade as time goes by from constant washing and using the Raggtopp fabric cleaner Also if the waterproofing spots are on the top, when can I apply a waterproofing fabric protectant ?
@RichardPurcell-fw8mo start by returning to the detailer who applied the g technique and have them fix the problem. If not you will need to wait until the surface is even before applying anything else
When you say wait until the top is even , you mean until the gtechnig is completely faded off the top? Using the Raggtopp fabric cleaner couldn’t hurt to use on the top to at least clean the top correct?
Hey guys. Not sure if you'll see this since its an older video. I have a Bakflip x4s hard roll cover on my truck. Would you recumbent this same process for cleaning it. Also, can I use the interior Ceramic to give it some protection and an OEM look? Thanks guys and thanks or the great products. - Jeff
I have a question for older vehicles with soft tops, like it doesn't have a fabric top like most cars today, but it has a rubber like top. I will probably be having a fabric top made but for now I'm just looking for maintenance, but most videos are only on fabric tops, do you have any advice?
@@diydetailofficial OK cool, we did that yesterday, um is there any other product we can use for the roof? Or it the product you used in the video OK of the rubber as well, cause it's not been used much and was mostly folded down with the hardtop on, but it's 24 years old this year, so it's a bit neglected.
You can use a jet washer just keep a good distance so that ring marks don’t appear, you can also use snow foam to clean or car shampoo just make sure it’s rinsed off
For a bottle of Interior Ceramic? I suggest you look around, this is a pro grade product that is often more money for a lot less product when you enter this tier for other brands

Good idea
Great video guys. Woof that's a lot of DI water rinsing that roof multiple times!
Yes it was!
Thanks for the great video! I’ll be trying this technique on my convertible top!
You’re welcome!
Just order some interior spring with the spring sale to do the top! Can’t wait to try it out!

Yes you can use DIY Detail Quick Beads
quick question..I have the all clean 15:1 with little incredible suds in my IK E Foam Pro 12...would this be suitable to clean the soft top?
Yes, absolutely
Can you guys do a vinyl top??! Is it the same method? Can you ceramic coat a Landau Vinyl top?
Yes, same procedure. What classic do you have with a Landau top?
Would using a soft top cover when parked drastically reduce the number of times you have to clean the top?
A little
You guys together ❤ so awesome 👌🏽 I did a soft top before but never got to see the results customer never say anything lol
All you can do there is trust the process 😊

@@diydetailofficial an 1800 error. do car covers the car in anyway?
What exactly does interior ceramic do to the top? Is it better than your run of the mill soft top protectant?
It helps prevent staining, helps with hydrophobics, and extends the life of the top
Great editing as usual!
Glad you think so!
Is the top being cleaned here vinyl, woven poly or heavy canvas----and does it matter?
Its fabric, no it makes no difference
Is it safe or recommend using a APC as a pre treat for extremely dirty convertible tops followed by soap and lots of rinsing?
Yes

A steamer can remove it, but I hear it may compromise the waterproofing. You may need to reapply waterproofing agents afterwards.

Use DIY Detail Rinse Less Wash, a fine brush, and lots of water
Hi ! Where can I purchase the interior ceramic product that you use for the convertible soft top?

If you have a crack on the rounded seam near the window , what would you recommend we do to fix it
Unfortunately nothing to do other than bring it to an automotive upholstery shop

DIY Detail Rinseless Wash is best, your favourite drying towel.

Choose the morning or evening when the sunlight is less oppressive :)
Usually you can go to a self wash car wash place and use a bay there. Never had anyone bother me at one.

Not a dedicated video but we speak about it in many videos. There are a few where we wash a red fiat 500 convertible.

Which is it?
I mean fair play, but you can use a pressure washer on a rag top, simply use a wide angle nozzle & keep a safe distance from the fabric.
Just showing the safest practices.
Don't do it Budd

No it’s not ridiculous it’s a pro grade product not a crap product. Why do poor people always complain about price? Geez
Why you brush the coating🤣🤣also sir who knows everything why you don’t mask the car?
The brush better agitates the coating allowing it to soak in better. You can mask the car if you wish, but it’s not necessary.
