This lens is probably the best cinema zoom lens I have used. Granted I haven't used many... Actually only three. Two canon cinema zooms and the fujifilm zoom lens. But I have used a very very large amount of photography and video prime lenses on this channel and in the professional world.
The DZOFILM Catta zoom lens offers a very character driven image with perfect imperfections. This lens is perfect for narrative work when you aren't after clinical sharpness. Most cinema lenses are becoming extremly sharp these days and sometimes to the point where we try use diffusion filters to soften the image.
Adding the character back into these high resolution sensors is what a lot of cinematographers are after specially myself.

Prefer just using GM lenses for Video. Lens compensation plus autofocus. Can always colour grade and degrade image when it comes to sharpness. 50mm 1.2 on A7RV or FX3/6 is gold
2:30 was this shot w/o mist filter? I like this shot over the other mist shots. Man GM lens shines cut to cut even tho it feels slightly too clinical
I feel like he added promist only on the Catta Ace, the other lens is not blooming and feels like it doesn't have any diffusion like a promist. Could be wrong though.
Omg it has the Canon R5 wobblegate.
User error he said thankfully lol. It was a manual lens and he changed the ibis setting manually but to the wrong lens size. And the camera over compensated and created some mad wobbles haha.
Having to always manually adjust IBIS every time you change your zoom looks like a big deal and potential for many errors=unusable shots 😕
Lol. Just had been on the CVP UA-cam channel viewing the Dvo cine primes, then you bring this video up. Dvo Catta zooms do have my interest too.
