The class picture on the ground was from the year I graduated, 2008. I could see myself sitting on the front row.

There was no shooting at commencement "outside the auditorium" in 1997. Commencement took place at the Genesis Center. I was teaching at Lew Wallace at the time.

Dad graduated from Wallace in 1942.
He told me on homecoming night, Hank Stram ran back the opening kickoff for a touchdown.
It was the only points scored in the game.
Dad said Hank wasn't a big guy but he was built really solid.
Dad was lab partners with that Fischer guy who found the sunken ship with all the gold.

As an avid bookworm with a nice small library of my own, it makes me sad to see all those books and magazines just left to rot. Fascinating video though as I enjoy abandoned places.

I love abandoned places too. I think all of those books going to waste is a shame also. So sad that the school had to be demolished.

My mom is 88yo and grew up in Glen Park during its grandeur and graduated from Lew Wallace in 1952, as did my Dad. She was a cheerleader and my Dad was a captain of the football and basketball team, and apparently was a local football legend. I am disgusted at what happened to this school and wish I could’ve gone there before it was destroyed to get some items for my mom as keep sakes. Who does this sort of stuff? Why do kids vandalize? Boredom? I am I’ll watching this while looking at my mom’s old yearbook and how beautiful the school once was.

My 88yo mom would love a treasure, as a friend 1952 graduate. I’m sick watching this video and what was done to this building. I wish the ghosts that loomed would have kicked the 5hit out of the vandals. Sickening.

Could the city leaders not at least secure the school to stop the affects of weather and vandalism? Incompetence at its best.

Weird to think about how still things stay. Those books on the floor at 3:14 and the knocked over bookshelf are from me and my friend making a mess back in 2016, I have a video of it somewhere. Crazy to think that 5 years later, things are next to exactly the way we left it.
Really liked the parts where you edited in videos of what it used to look like and showed them side by side, really gives a sense of how much things have decayed.

Very interesting video. I love how you put in clips of how this school looked originally and what it looked like before being demolished. Great Job! I read all about the Paula Cooper case and the lady that she and three other girls murdered. I know Paula was the ring leader in that case. Does anyone know what happened to the other girls (women) now? Where are they now? Paula is dead I realize that.

It's sad to see that what was left inside wasn't salvaged. Gary had such beautiful architectural schools. Why something couldn't have been done other than demolish them is horrible.

How do you guys get in that place? It was pretty sealed up with boards for the past year, and also the police were keeping a good eye on it. I heard police were arresting people who were caught trespassing.
So how long ago was this exploration?
Also, this is probably one of the best put together videos done on Lew Wallace. Great job guys!

  • @TheChippewa77

We all know what happened to Gary I grew up there. Sadly, Lew Wallace was at one time still in the “good part of town”. The demographic poison must’ve finally reached at too. I was a boy when bussing & forced integration occurred. In video after video similar to this whether it is Edison middle school or Brunswick school the result in that idiotic policy is evident. What is nearly as incredible is the corruption and the stupidity of city officials that simply closed the doors in a school like this doing nothing to secure it and then wash their hands of the responsibility. No different than a Third World sub-Saharan country

I only picked up the Gary tragedy four days ago on YT from various drive-rounds, a thriving city brought
to it's knees by ''diversity'' and now a scene of desolation.
I'm in the UK and knew nothing about this or the Detroit riots.
Cities built from scratch by grafting white Europeans undermined by mass immigration that no one voted
for and the crime and corruption that came with it.

Its a shame the population treated all of gary with such abandonment,no cares but your own. Shameful that whether the daddies are all in Indiana State Prison or oded, that I went to school late 60s early 70s and I know alot of Moms,Aunts, and Grannies that would have burnt the hide of dem azzs for destroying what they couldn't pay for. Them women didn't laugh about that. Shameful What a WASTE.
