Gotta love videos like this: they ALWAYS mention Centralia, and they ALWAYS get the facts wrong.
Ted Lebo, you're right on the money. I've seen UA-cam videos on how to repair cars that make my skin crawl. But, just because it's on the internet, or YT, it's gotta be right, correct??!!! LMAO, and cry right after. People are like sheep, being led by a disproportionate amount of fools, disguised as leaders....
Asbestos mine in Australia - sign says " may cause cancer " Asbestos Does cause cancer - wonder who installed that sign - the mining company or the government
Bait-and-switch Media refers to various trolling pictures and videos that trick a user into viewing unexpected content
@@bobebert1466 If you say that it "may cause cancer" and it doesn't in one case then your sign is wrong. They could say "most likely will cause cancer" ?
And people are still living there, too.
I've been there several times. You can still walk the abandoned graffiti road. It's broken up and shifting, but local kids ride their quads there. We walked all around the area. There's an old guy that is kind of the self appointed Centralia historianl. He carries a photo album with him and is more than happy to spend hours telling you about the town in it's heyday.
Not the Centralia I was expecting.Different town.Shows how dumb so many of those in power are!
I live 15 minutes south of Picher/Treece they're practically the same town and should have been put together on the list. The city limits literally touch. While it is very contaminated and the Government has labeled it a "Superfund Site" you can still go there. My grandmother lived in Picher for 75 years until they closed the town after an F-5 tornado rolled thru and leveled everything. She then moved in with my parents where she lived til the age of 96 years old. Its a very interesting town with a history thats wild if anyone likes a good rabbit hole to go down.
My family comes from Centralia. It’s a place that will have a piece in my heart for my whole life.
Wittenoom is not off limits. You are advised not to go there but there is nothing to stop you from doing so. I visited there around three years ago on my way home from work. Drove around the town with the windows closed and the vents on recirc. Got out of the car to take a selfie in front of the sign that says 'Wittenoom Gems' but took a deep breath before opening the door and held it. Also met Mario, the town's only resident and employed by the weather bureau to take weather readings twice a day. I spoke to him through the open window for a minute or so. Fascinating place.
Centralia actually isn’t off limits... I went there last month 😂
Yes but technically you aren't supposed to be and you can get in trouble. Obviously they don't have like some huge fence or are paying armed guards to stand there but common sense tells you it's off limits. Especially with all the signs around the area.
you can actually get killed there because they are still remains of fire underground and there's a warning that says it when u go there.
Death
@@amylapratt8964 This is not true. It still has residents
Real life silent hill
You are totally wrong about Centralia. People willing to accept the risk can and do go there. In addition to that 7 to 10 original residents still live there and one has assumed responsibility for tending the cemetery, mowing grass, etc. The USPS a few years ago tried to stop mail delivery to the remaining residents, but they appealed that decision and won! I don't know what's changed in the last couple of years, but I know it is accessible, no matter who forbids what.
LodiTX they actually don’t have a zip code or anything anymore
LodiTX the only people that go there are the handful of people who live there and people who are fans of silent hill who stop for an hour or two to take photos. It’s highly dangerous and the remaining residents will eventually be forced out via litigation.
Poor animals suffering from human ignorance.
They won't be forced out. The case has already been settled and the residents are allowed to stay there until their death. The few remaining houses still there are occupied by elderly people who likely won't live much longer anyways. No one new though is allowed to move in.
No-one has mentioned it's not a gov ordered burn over a mine that set the blaze either. The town regularly burned trash at the dump as part of their waste management. Embers from one said burn ignited an active mine shaft, that was currently vacant. Carbon monoxide, while a silent enemy, is not the main problem, its the fact the whole place is a giant sinkhole caused by a burning underground. The mines are not collapsing in, its the veins of coal burning, leaving a network of caverns underneath. It is partial inspiration for the silent hill series. Many of the people held out, and stayed for years on their "conviction". There is also one incident of a boy being swallowed by a sinkhole, luckily he was heavily clothed for winter, and his brother pulled him from it and removed him from his burning clothing, leaving him with only minor abrasions. Everyone didn't evacuate the town immediately, and some went so far as to cut off half of their row home house, from their neighbors affected or abandoned portion of the house, to remain there. The US GOV attempted to force a buy out of the residents, some successfully resisted, most to old to want to live anywhere else. Once the GOV acquired the property, the home, and any buildings were demolished to prevent occupation. As of last year, only two residents, and two homes remained. One is a curator of sorts, and the other is most likely to die of old age soon, also known as the major, not an officially elected appointee, but appointed by default.
Sad to report an inaccuracy in the video. The first town, Centralia Pennsylvania.
It is not off limits, and we can visit if we wish. As of 2013, 7 people live in the city.
They are allowed to live out their lives there, after which the state will take the property via eminent domain.
The fire has moved quite a bit since it started. The air over Centralia is no longer as bad as it was.
In fact, it's roughly the same quality as a near by city Pennsylvania where there has been no fire.
If the ground were not so dangerous from collapse, it could one day become an active city.
But it hopefully will instead become a wildlife/nature preserve.
you're able to go to centralia, I live like 20 mins from the place, there's a tourist scene
Yeah I think it was restricted only for a while after they initially evacuated and stuff.
@@gjeraldh2989 our asshole governor burried the graffiti highway "due to covid"
@@Tierdog are you fucking serious about the graffiti? I live maybe 30 min away and isn't there still 1 resident left. If not they only recently moved
theres also 3 homes still there and occupied
Born and raised in pitcher Oklahoma..with Joe Don “rascal flats” I miss my chat piles.
A little misinformation here, Centralia still has about 7 residents, and they do day tours to Pripyat.
Brian Barker thats all
Have been to Pripyat - Centralia is on my bucket list.
Well have you ever envisioned a good old country ass whoopin, cuz that's what it may come down to.
You can actually spend a night in Pripyat now, there is a hotel in one of the "safer" zones. I'd like to go there one day.
Thank you.🙏✌️
I lived in Picher most of my life, my father was born there as was his father and mother. I'm healthy, he died of lung cancer but he smoked most of his life. Nothing about Picher made us sick.. And yes I played on the chat hills
I filmed a video on picher
I grew up there as well and was never sick but then you have to think about people like Chad and its hard to argue ma'am. I understand where your heart is though once a chat rat always a chat rat. 👍🏼 🦍
@@InfamousCrimeLocations what was your video about?
@@rockypayne5780 Giving a tour of the town and talking about why people had to leave etc
I use to live in Picher Oklahoma back in 1983.me and my friends used to play on those Dunes.Your absolutely right.no one knew that stuff was poisonous. And because I was around that stuff for so many years I now have health problems.
Pripyat, Ukraine isn't off-limits, you can visit, in fact, you can even take a guided tour if you wish. My friend visited the abandoned city, known for the Chernobyl disaster that forced it's desertion. She was allowed to explore and photograph there, walk around, go in the abondoned apartment buildings, etc. She wasn't part of a tour, she just wandered around solo. Radiation levels have dropped significantly since the fatal levels of 1986, and it is now considered generally safe, with only low levels of radiation still existing, as the video stated, you're getting nuked more going through airport security than spending a few hours at Pripyat. Obviously it's still not suitable for people to reside there permanently, as that can be evidenced by the radiation levels of wildlife who live in Pripyat, but it has become kind of an odd tourist attraction. My friend thought it was awesome when she was there. I want to check it out myself sometime.
TheSpogNYC Pripyat isn’t Chernobyl.
It’s just the city closest to it that the people who worked in the plant lived in.
Patrick Saxon the original sarcophagus was built like twenty years ago, the new one to replace the old one was just finished a few years ago, I believe.
Patrick Saxon and it wasn’t built to cover the reactor, it was built to cover the entire building that holds the reactor that was the source of the accident.
Chernobyl was actually a hoax, so Pripyat is completely safe.
If you have granite countertops in your kitchen you're exposed to more radiation than outside a Nuclear power plant.
I grew up in Picher & Treece, Treece is a part of Picher that crossed into Kansas. I grew up on those chat piles and spent over 15 years riding 4 wheelers/dirt bikes on them, hunting on them, shooting etc. There was a large problem with the lead in the ground water but 98% of all chat piles have been removed over the past 10 or so years and the town looks nothing like it used to. There's only 1 resident left in the town and that person lives at the Fire Department. What's absolutely insane about Picher, and it makes the conspiracy theorists bust nuts all over the place; Picher sold out half of their homes to the goverment, the lower end homes were the ones to accept the buyout as they were offered more than their property was worth. However after long talks & debate, the higher end home owners wouldn't sell out as they were taking a loss. One clear blue sunny day a tornado formed in between a group of chat piles and wiped out every single house that wouldn't sell out. It didn't track north into the homes that had already been bought out, instead it rose up out of the basin in these chat piles, tracked east, wiped out every single home that didn't sell out, then rose back up after the last house was hit. It's interesting & funny to hear some of the conspiracies, but it was still a shitty deal as those people lost everything and didn't receive any government assistance and instead relied on red cross etc just to get clothes on their backs. Picher/Cardin/Treece have their demons, but it isn't a hellish nightmare that this vid portrays it as
I've been to Centralia multiple times. It also serves as a route to Mt Carmel, Ashland and Aristes/Wilburtons 1 and 2, which is pretty heavily traveled by motorists daily. There are also a few residents remaining.
Take a shot of tequila every time the speaker says “disturbingly”.
challenge excepted...
Treece Ks and Picher Okla are pretty much the same area/zone. The town was bought out by the government after it was plowed over by a powerful tornado. Having also been a major superfund site it just wasn't worth rebuilding it. Interesting note almost two years to the date (missed by like one-two days) Joplin Mo (less than 30 miles away) was also hit by a category 5 tornado. Joplin however managed to recover. You can still travel to these places but I do not recommend it. The area was also heavily mined and those shafts have now flooded and cave-ins abound. I was born and raised there and most of us turned out fine and the chat piles were a kick to slide down in the winter when they were covered in snow. Its very strange to lose your entire home town. I still have dreams where I'm there and oddly I do miss it still.
I plan to go visit and see
The United States has more than one town unfit for HUMANS. I'm shocked.
More than one? Many. I do mean many.
I live in southern Ohio. I can remember bright green slime running through a field toward the river. There were a bunch of old barrels back there too. Seriously. That is why the EPA is so important. Not that they do much, but every little bit helps.
@@michelewalburn4376 I couldn't agree more!
Love the history of how the abandoned towns and cities came to be tells us who and what came before us
Not supposed to go? Lets go there. Road trip.
greenspiraldragon 😂👌
greenspiraldragon hell yeah Road Trip
You in America? Let's do this!
greenspiraldragon hell yeah!
greenspiraldragon Come to Flint its legal and Just as fun
You can visit Centralia. Unlike Pripyat, however, there really isn't much left. A few houses, a church and one of the municipal buildings. The fire has moved away from the old town limits, so there isn't the hazard of toxic gas anymore. Unstable ground, however, remains a problem.
Treece and pitcher share a border. I have been to both and it's creepy, the Feds idea of cleaning up the chat piles is to use the rock to pave county road and in asphalt and concrete for building. A little correction for the maker of the video. Chat is 3/8"-3/4" (5-25mm) rock chips.
I reside about 15 minutes from Centralia PA. It's true that the borough was relocated. However there are state roads through running through the place that are open to public travel. There are a few homes still there and the Municipal building still stands. Occasionally at night there are a few vehicles parked near this building and the inside light is on ,therefore there is some type of social activity still going on there. Although there is some private property that is posted, the vicinity is not restricted. As a matter of fact the blocked off section of cracked highway is an unofficial tourist attraction. If you do decide to visit, be advised that the area has a large amount of graffiti on the blocked of highway section that contains rough language.
When I was a kid in the 80s, people would go down to Picher to go drive their dune buggies on the chat.
US69 still passes through what's left of the town and those chat piles are not fenced off. Treece, KS is next door, so to speak, to Picher. Oh, by the way, none of those chat piles are fenced off and the gravel from them is still finding other uses. So much for lead poisoning.
You are 100% allowed to go to Centralia. Hell Route 61 still runs right thru. I've known about it for years and happened to be driving thru a year or so ago. Stopped and walked Graffiti Highway and drove thru what's left of the town as well as got some pictures of my car on the old roads. Really awesome place and I highly recommend going to see it.
they covered graffiti highway in dirt piles. It is going away :(
The mine wasnt abandoned in Centralia, it was an abandoned mine pit that was above a very active coal seam. The town was full of mining family's.
Well you can go to Centralia, Picher and Treece. I live in Oklahoma and you can visit Picher any time you want. Treece is the next town north of Picher. There are other town abandoned in that area as well. Many more have chat piles and are not abandoned. These include places in Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri.
um Pitcher and Treece are the exact same town. The exact same chat piles. Yes one in in Oklahoma and one is in Kansas. But they sit side by side. You can still go there. I still drive through there. I live about 5 miles from there in Baxter Springs, Kansas. And people still might be living in Pitcher if it was for the 2008 F-3 tornado that finished it off. The Governments of Oklahoma and Kansas where in talks of buying everyone out before then. When the tornado happened it just made the decision for them easier.
There are some families still living in Picher. I was told that some people were too stubborn to move out
There was a few for a while after the buy out. I don't think there anyone is now. But the high school is used for a police and fire training.
I'm from Miami, Oklahoma. I drive through picher all the time.
Christopher Collinsworth agreed fully. I just made my comment saying the same thing. He even forgot Cardin. He should have put Picher, Treece and Cardin alltogether and just said abondened towns. I think some people still live in Picher ?
Yea he did forget Cardin. Didn't think about that. Along with Hockerville Kansas. But I can't say for sure if anyone still lives there or not. I do think there is but not 100 percent sure.
Centralia, PA: Ironically enough, I visited Centralia about 3 months before you uploaded this video. There's nothing really to see, just a road grid running through now vacant fields, the Graffiti Highway, and a few homes which are still occupied. 100% not off limits, and 100% not deadly.
Pripyat, Ukraine: You can literally book a tour there. There are a few small sites within the exclusion zone which are still off limits due to high concentrations of radioactivity, but that's it.
Being that you're 0 for 2 so far, I don't see a reason to continue watching.
People still live in Cenralia, PA. As of 2015, 11 people still reside in Centralia and in 2013 even, 7 people were living there. Also, my friens brother and his friends had visited the town. They said in certain areas you can see the smoke rising and they actually spoke to some of the residents there and learned even more about the town and fires. I have done allot of research on this town and before you make a video, you really need to get the correct facts and information. I also would like to point out that the movie, Silent Hill, is based on Centralia,Pennsylvania, and that is how I found out about this town.
the movie Silent Hill is not based on Centralia,. however Centralia WAS an inspiration for some parts/scenes in the movie.
Wittenoom has a parallel in the US: Libby , Montana. The city is not off-limits, but has been extensively cleaned up under EPA Superfund. The problem: W.R. Grace operated a vermiculite mine north of the city. Libby vermiculite is contaminated with four types of amphibole asbestos, the worst kind. Mine workers and their families were extensively exposed, and insulation using Libby vermiculite was extensively used in Libby homes and businesses, in addition to their sale to other regions (brand names Zonolite and Monokote).
The first one wich is #5 is the real " Silent Hill ", I read about this town and it's scary and sad.
there are people still living in centralia and plenty of people visit pripyat and that 6 legged deer was found at berry college in rome georgia, not ukraine
Centralia is not off limits, several public roads go through the area and are still used daily and maintained the only place really off limits besides the posted private properties is the graffiti highway (part of Route 61) because of the dangers involved with a several hundred foot crack along that section. Police are patrolling more in the area due to both vandalism and illegal racing on the graffiti highway. I know this because I am from PA and we went to Centralia to see the sights a lot its an awesome sight to see how nature has taken over. The area roads are constantly monitored for safety because of the occasional sink hole but so far the only part shut down is the area of 61 this may expand in the future if they find more roads becoming unsafe to use but it is doubtful.
Is the underground coal still burning? I would think it's long been out
Patrick noone yes it still is in places, they think it will take at least another 50 or 60 years to burn out completely. The biggest danger of CO1 is gone most of the town is private property owned by PennDOT the rest is owned by the under 20 remaining residents and will go to state ownership after their death. The only part truly off limits as I said are the stretch of highway and the posted properties there are 3 or 4 major roads that go through and you can see several parts of the town but visitors aren't welcome as in the past because of leaving garbage and the residents are getting to the age they just want quiet.
It still has residents, most have lived there all of their lives and dont want to move.
crystal sparks right, they can't sell or transfer the properties though as soon as they pass away they go to state ownership through eminent domain.
crystal sparks. Hello. Well that is only normal, and I can fully understand. This Town is there Home, it is where they are from and what they know. I hope these People will be fine.
I like how #2 and #1 are about 1.6km from eachother and are essentially the same place.
Such a shame that man can be so destructive and destroy such large areas of earth 😢
No problem. All five towns each evacuated their citizens to Washington DC, where the evacuees to their horror promptly found out that the fatality rate of their new neighborhoods was 75 times higher than that of their former residences.
with subtitles it said ".. can also be deadly ,blowing out self esteem throughout the holes which could suffocate a person" 😂😂
haha
TeechigoGaming CC on youtube can be as inaccurate and entertaining as autocorrect
TeechigoGaming Hahahahahahahaha 😂
Some people's self-esteem is suffocating.
😂
99% of the comment talks about Centralia
Picher, Oklahoma and Treece, Kansas are next door to each other.... Pretty much same town
Nothing stopping you from visiting picher Oklahoma, the main road is used pretty often by truckers mainly. Very cool town to drive through and the massive mountains of chat are quite bizarre
DISTURBINGLY
WOW....Learn something new every day! Neosho is only about 35-40 miles from Treece, KS....hope that wind doesn't blow too hard
Didn't stop Jeremy, Richard, and James from Top Gear from driving through Chernobyl 😂😂😂
They had to take a lot of precautions though. I think I remember them feeling slight effects even though they took radiation pills too.
Actually, there are tourists in there, officialy, but they're lead by a guide who knows the place well, and they spent most of the time inside of a bus.
In fact, Zone isn't that radioactive more than 30 years later, only places with dumped garbage and metal are dangerous
Some say, although they went, they were still very nervous
The town I was born in is mostly abandoned and the roads going through it are closed. Ostensibly this is because of the mines shutting down...but I always thought it was because toxic waste was stored some of the older, no longer used, mine shafts, had been for a long time and the barrels had probably begun to leak. There were many places where the creeks and ponds that had once been full of life were just dead...and many children were born with birth defects, many women had miscarriages(a cousin had 9) and many people of all ages had a variety of cancers. I lost several family members. To this day, no one has admitted the truth...no one has been held responsible...and the few people left are mostly pursuing a living producing and selling various illegal substances. And they do NOT welcome visitors. It's not the same place where my family lived for generations, not my home anymore. Damn tragic, because the land was heartbreakingly beautiful.
Tesla girl: I understand your sadness at losing your home as I have lost mine though for a different reason. Its heartbreaking the damage homo saps have done to this beautiful planet. And still not learned their lessons!
some of these towns arent exactly "Off Limits", The first one for instance you can go to at your own risk without anyone stopping you..
Ewan Leask stfu
The photo at 0:45 is of Centralia, Washington - not Pennsylvania. Centralia, WA is still alive and well. And has already been pointed out, but Centralia PA is not off-limits.
Centralia, Kansas is also marked "SAFE" lol
I went to Centralia in 2016. It didn't seem to be closed off in any way. There's not much to see anyway.
if they catch you going there they actually do arrest you. but it's not heavily patrolled for obvious reasons.
There's a few people that still live there it's not closed off get your facts straight and you won't get arrested
No they won't. We went years ago and my friend asked a PA State Trooper for directions. Not much to see now.
jesterd14 your full of crap you have no idea what your talking about the last 2 people that live there are aloud to live there till they die and got that right after years of fighting the state and the fed if you where from the area you would know that and the only areas closed off large sections of woods and one of the roads in to the town
So I said that you won't get arrested and you said that you won't get arrested for going there.
I’m actually from Miami Oklahoma about 2 miles from Picher and a tornado happened shortly after the government bought out the residents minus one woman in her 80s or 90s and wiped out most of the houses that were left
There's still a couple of people living in Centralia, but most have been relocated to Ashland.
And the paint chips taste better there too.
Yeah...
I'm Australian and I didn't know about WA. Interesting slideshow.
Hold up a second there!! The very first pic is NOT Centralia, PA. Thats Centralia, WASHINGTON!! Also known as "Hub City" for several decades due to its central location 100 miles North of Portland OR, and 100 miles South of Seattle WA. Research those photos better bud. I dont like folks thinking my town has a mine fire under it...
Garwulf74, not only that, but Centralia, PA is not completely abandoned. They have had fewer than a dozen holdouts who refused to leave. The state government of Pennsylvania eventually worked a deal to let them stay. If they choose to move, then their houses get torn down.
Burn it; burn it
+Rober.t B. y..
nah its pa and its two residents
Garwulf74 I was locked up in maple lane in Centralia Washington it's a beautiful town
No one should be concered about visiting what is left of Centralia, PA. It is totally open to the public. However, there is next to nothing left, just a grid of streets with no houses. Very little smoke is now coming out of the ground. You have to search pretty hard to find even a wisp of steam. There is a beautiful Ukrainian Catholic Church up on the heights which is still in use and has a shrine and a graveyard.
People drive through Picher, Oklahoma every day. I myself have been through there a few times.
Pripyat isn’t Chernobyl. The plant was located some distance away from the actual city that most of the workers lived in. The city isn’t so bad now, but the actual plant is no fucking joke.
And no, to the morons implying you can “just go there”, the average person cannot access the sarcophagus, you have to get permission from the government to visit the site. But the few people - usually engineers - who do annually are only allowed in certain buildings, with proper protection.
Where’s the entire State of California? It’s Toxic as Hell there.
James Booth - are you related to John Wilkes Booth?? CA is a great state, where are you from, Romania, a 3rd world country???
Okay conservatard furry. No wonder you're on SpicyFurryTakes most wanted list
Wittinoom has also been removed from all state maps and highway signs to prevent people from going there. you can still find it on google earth
Before watching the video, I knew Chernobyl will be mentioned 😔
*Yeah. Me too.*
So do i
The picture at 0:41 is actually Main St at Tower Ave, in Centralia --Washington--, known as "Hub City", which you can still visit, as there are numerous antique stores in the area.
Picher and Treece is allowed to be visited. I went there in June of 2019
@Victoria Henry nope sure didn't
@Victoria Henryno need for a mask
@Victoria Henry breathing in air that has little to no toxicity is not going to kill you.
I live really close to Centralia and have been there quite a few times and you definitely are aloud to go there, people are there everyday and the state police monitor the heat and the ground everyday, people also take doon buggies and fourwheelers and motorcycles on the abandon highway
music at 6:40, "dibbesgaming" ☺ GTA V.
I've noticed some postings on Centralia, PA. Yes, you can visit the town. I've personally traveled there, as it is not too far from my home, about an hour and a half. You can walk the "Graffiti" road, you can walk certain streets, but it's on your dime, if you know what I mean. The cemetery and its surroundings are off limits, of course, it being roped off. The fire has spread to both sides of the main road, past the homes. No one is allowed there. A few people still live in town, and one gentleman serves as a quasi-caretaker, cutting the lawns and open areas of the town, at his own expense. As far as the USPS, it was just a few years ago, when it decided no mail delivery to the town. The remaining people have to pick up their mail at a post office a half hour or more away, in the town of Bloomsburg. Theoretically, the town according to the USPS having had its zip code removed a few years ago, does not exist, according to the USPS.
I haven't been back up there since mid 2000's.I didn't see anything torn down, at that time, but that was over a decade ago. My ex's family lived out near there, so drove through it a lot. Seeing the smoke just billowing out of fissures of concrete, gravel, and dirt was just crazy, and the ground....well, you could feel the heat even through shoes. I imagine it was what standing on top of hell might be like.
Never saw anyone or anything there....except for a pair of toads having their own fun. 😂
correction, it was 1986, not 1996
Eagle Mountain isn't off limits to anyone.
I drove past Centralia in the early 90s and it was quite creepy, got gas and quick snack.
Centralia, PA is not off limits, save for private property of the few residents left, and yes, there are a handful of people still there, last time I visited. So many people explore Centralia, and the locals ride all over it with ATVs and dirtbikes. Also PA Route 61 and PA Route 42 meet in the center of the former town. Get your facts straight and post the correct pictures before making videos.
@Rachel Johnson nothing,. . if you're refering to the people who still live there, they prefer to not be bothered by " tourists" , they just want to live a normal life... but, to add to your answer, you would have to be pretty much face down in a spot where the fire is venting to have an issue with air quality. you can stand near a vent, you can smell the sulfer smell,.. yes, if you stand in it too long, it would have an affect,. just like standing at the opening of a chimney of a home while the heat is running.
Picher is not only plagued with mountains of toxic mine tailings but the mines also reached under the town and undermined it. Sinkholes opening up are common.
Centralia still has residence and you are definitely allowed to visit.
I remember watching Jeremy London on River Monsters going to Pripyat and talking to experts about what was happening to wildlife even all those years later.
That's just a few deserted towns. There are so many more. You should do a vid on deserted towns in America after the testing of atomic bombs. We have an almost deserted town here in England, not because of lead or any lethal chemicals, people just don't want to live in it, it's because of the mutated people that wonder around aimlessly day in day out. "What's that Dave?" Oh, sorry, forget that last comment it's just a town called Morecombe, my mistake.
Helena Chávez You know me? Or Hu?
Hey ,get this my husband " James" grew up in an area of Missouri called the LEADBELT. chat dumps are all over the area!! he lived in a tiny town called Frankclay Mo. with a huge chat dump that all the kids played on!! other surrounding towns like Leadwood , Boontere ,
& Parkhills Mo. also are under mined with multiple huge chat dumps that kids still play on and adults 4-wheel on!! the town's still are populated!! Will someone talk about these towns where the poisoning is still on going.Lauri & James ketcherside
I've been to Centralia with my friends we walked all over that place.
*You ARE allowed to visit Chernobyl.... There are actually guided tours, but many just go anyway... It's how I got my extra ear.*
I'm going to go live in one of those town go be a hermit so leave me alone people especially the government thank you LOL
Well don’t call 911 if you’re hurt or sick lol
Q.E.D.
I met a Ukrainian girl named Katya whose father drove buses to evacuate the residents of Pripyat. He made many runs. He later developed cancer and died young. What a tragedy for that region. But now they do tours!!
youre allowed to visit centralia..........
you are but you do so at your own risk as the Cole mind is
still burning underneet and its belived that its enuff cole to burn for 40 years
its a risky place the roads have steam air comeing up from the ground and some areas could easly crumble
there are wannring signs all over the roads so its not like your not alowed to visit it as there arnt any1 on guard duty to stop you but u could get injerd even die if you go alone or even with freinds
trust me i did a lot of reserch on the town did u know it was also the Inspiration for the town of Sillent Hill :) ???
I've been there and it's pretty eerie. Graphiti Highway is really something to be seen in person.
nah you can't go their anymore legally anyway they got tired of all the vandalism (Graphiti Highway) mainly and if caught you will be arrested for trespassing
Completely false. You can still visit but at your own risk.
no you can't i live here and know what they said on the local news they are tired of the vandalism and just at the sheer amount of people that visit it in general and will strickly enforce the no trespassing law but like you said it's at your own risk so if someone wants to go it's at the risk of them being arrested or fined
I've been to centralia, pa twice. Local traffic still drives through there to get to other neighboring towns. Definitely not inaccessible to the public
Picher and treece are across the border from each other I remember when both were still open
Aaron Cole m.
jmme
Treece is no longer considered a city no more
They Apearently they both are still are open. I just google earthed it. There's quite a few people there.
1991-1994, played 2 HS Football games in Pitcher, OK. Part of it is still there today. I drive through it about twice a year.

A neighbor put some of his old appliances on his curb side for refuge pick up by the sanitation crews. The items were fairly new but non functional. I asked him if I could use some of it for my crafting. He said yes. So I use metal in crafting and welding. I took the stove oven metal panels off of it. Behind them was asbestos batting insulation for high heat insulating the heat from the oven. This type of material is probably in the new appliance as well because it does have some high heat resistance properties. So there may be asbestos lurking in quite a few kitchens around the U. S. I worked with some asbestos while on a HVAC crew. It appears to be the same material but much newer condition without of course water damage to it. Being outside with more than adequate ventilation, I pulled some of it out while staying upwind from it. Yes small fibrous particles went airborne which appeared to be the exact match particulates as asbestos. Some people may be shocked at some of the lax standards per cancerous causing materials that are still in use such as beryllium within electronics and even microwaves. I hate to say it but the truth is the truth. Its not only abandoned places as above that are toxic but just about everywhere where people live. We all make the environment toxic in many ways and by the manufacture of more than many products as well as services.
Hey Weirdworldtv Centralia can be visited. I travel through there when I head down to Berks County. Get your facts right.
That is just the major toxic towns. There is numerous other towns that have pollution problems or the potential but haven't reached critical mass.
Australia is still cleaning up the asbostos used to make fibro sheeting.
I've been to Picher and Treece. You can still go there but there but it's pretty risky.
I guess you could say it's like russian roulette if it's risky!
Treece ks and picher ok are less then a 1 mile from each other.
jesse powers I thought they actually adjoined each other (as well as another town in Oklahoma, Cardin)
@@TimBoyd2012 yup they do connect..I miss my chat piles.
I like to go these places, because I'm a photographer and I like taking pictures of places that have abandoned for years.
Centralia is Silent Hill, or its inspiration. : )
For what lodi said, I visited Centralia not too long ago and it was pretty cool. You walk there at your own risk, it was fun.
Heres a fun lil bit of trivia, Centralia Pennsylvania is the town that inspired Silent Hill... And now you know..
yeah, yeah...WHATever....Jeeeeeezzzzeee!
Already knew that years ago.
No. Lots of companies do tours, and it is a popular tourist destination
Pripyat
You can visit Picher, I passed through it in 2009. It was pretty spooky, looked like everyone left yesterday. Not much of anything left now though.
Melinda Bagley-Duarte Only concrete slabs.
Number 5 still has residents, number 4 you are allowed to visit , number 3 I never heard of, number 2 is still abandoned, number 1 never heard of.
Your thumbnail is picher Oklahoma. I'm from Miami, Oklahoma... A town close to picher. We go through picher to get to Joplin, MO.
My dad was from Picher so I wanted to go visit and see if any relatives were still there.
Thomas Hopkins
Last time I went through there were no residents left.
Tabitha Thomas I've been thought that town a few years ago and I am from Moore Oklahoma
Tabitha Thomas what is picher like?
Why do you go through Picher to get to Joplin? it's closer going through Qupaw and then up through Baxter... 😯
You can visit Pripyat and Chernobyl, but you must not to enter the Red Forest and the hospital's basement, and it is illegal to enter the buildings. Visiting the city and its area at your own risk....
I have been going to Centrail pa since I was little. You need to get your facts right. Half of what you said about centraila is not true.
Shauna L po po
The sad part of these towns,, it's people that destroyed itself....
You missed Love Canal.
You can go to both Picher and Treece, I’ve been to both in 2015. People actually drive through an offshoot of highway 69 through Picher every day.
