Looks great, and I like the format. I 've been experimenting with 3200k lights while shooting in 5600k recently so this was really interesting to watch. I was always trying to make the look in DaVinci and I realised that what I needed to change was the light temperature. It sounds silly even saying it out loud because it's so obvious, but I've been a photographer in the past, shooting in RAW, maybe using gels back in the day with strobes, etc... Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching! More of this style coming soon. We'll get more clean with showing the kelvin and white balances throughout. Yeah, it's just a lot of experimenting and seeing which colour tone works best. We kept the reference frame nearby to look back and fourth to see how closely we could get it.
Great job! The only thing I like better in the original that it’s stopped down more and therefore creates more of an interesting pattern in the background. In your version it’s all pretty blurry and kind of flat.
Love the new format, really insightful. How much did you do in the grade for the look? Did you set the lights to a warmer WB or were they set to daylight and the warmer look created in post?
Majority of what we captured on set was the look and contrast levels. The in Camera white balance was at 5600k, and we set the lights to 3200K, the one top light for ambient was at 4400k to get some colour contrast back to the face. This shifts the lighting to be pretty warm in camera viewing (director's monitor viewing).
this is so dope! the color grading really made it pop and look so much like euphoria. Can you do a breakdown on color grading this and what the light temperature was ?
Those lenses are beautiful. Hard to find good examples online. This video helps so much! Overall, what was your impression of the lenses? Working with Duclos to get a demo asap.
Love these break downs and was spot on! Question, If you had the cove for wrap/fill what’s the motivation for the ceiling bounce if it’s to lift some levels on the face? Do they serve the same purpose?
Thanks Stephen! Directionality and ambiance. We noticed in the reference that there was colour contrast (blue) on his face, so we went a bit cooler on the top light to get some forehead colour contrast. The cove and wrap was done because he was looking downwards and there was an eye/ catch light. The cove/ key was used to add to the motivated light and to wrap around the face + for the eye light.
I guaranty that Hollywood does not put that much thought into lighting. I see they use like one or two lights 44 degree angle from the top or bottom with homemade soft boxes .
can you show your exposure with the histogram or false color? Sometimes I really don’t know if I just crush the blacks in the histogram to achieve the look or add more light/input to reach a safe exposure and then bringing it down in post. I feel like if I try to bring it down in post, it won’t feel the same dark look as the reference, however, if I just crush the shadows on camera, it gives me so much noise :/

Absolutely incredible. Euphoria’s cinematography was always top notch and y’all did a great job recreating that!
Thanks Tré, appreciate you!

Thanks so much Danielle!
love this! I had the exact same idea of trying to recreate this scene but never realised how much would go into making it, thank you!
Appreciate you Pierre! Haha it definitely wasn’t an easy one, thanks for the support
Great video, excellent content !! I really loved your version of the scene!
Thanks so much!!

So far so good! Will have a video coming out around them soon!

Haha, also the case sometimes! To each their own, appreciate you watching!!
I am curious about color temperature on lights and WB in camera ? If you ever get the chance id love to know..
Cam Wb 5600k, lights 3200, middle top 4400
Heat 🔥
Appreciate you!
Nice! Like the other comments can you share the colour temp for the fixtures and the kelvin temp for the FX3? Thank-you
Fixtures at 3200k, the one top light for ambient was at 4400k to get some colour contrast back to the face - Fx3 at 5600K.
@@TenfoldProduction Thank-you! That really helps

What is the temperature for the lights and WB of the image? Very good and educational content btw!

Hi! I was wondering do you still have the footage with the false color for this shot? Been having troubles exposing slog3 in low light situations.
same !!
upp
You promised to do one color grading tutorial 🥺
Coming soon! Might do one on this video.

Guy's a model too eh, jeez.
