    You young are doing great even at 74 it's nice to see things really don't change much when it's not broke don't fix it . the only thing we did do differently is we took a brace and bit with 3/4 bit and made dowels for all the joints the wind would blow like crazy up there and years later when the portable wind indicater's came out I bought one for only one to reason to verify my grand dad's guesses at some of the wind speed ,of course it was years later after he had left us, but he was spot on we were getting reading of steady readings of 40 miles an hour winds, with 75 mile an hour gusts 9000 feet and on the side of a huge canyon it really roars . later I even took up some bolts and nuts worked out great we did not have to replace the dowels every year . Any way stay safe enjoy .and HAPPY TRAILS. OH , we took it down every year and no one ever missed with the logs .

      Really is nice to hear approval from someone so seasoned in the wilderness arts. Sounds like a really nice set up though, dowels probably look a lot better then a ton of paracord. Thank you for the comment!

      We were only looking for what would keep it together in those hellish winds The bolts ended up being the best way for us but Ha what ever works where ever you are that is what's important not what some one else did . Hoping you have long life and good health as I have been very lucky to have and enjoy every minute . Most of my Friends are in such bad health cant do squat any more but it's there own damn fault not taking care of them selves over the years . HAPPY TRAILS to you and yours. Say hi to your partner there she's no lazy bones for sure works hard just like you great to have some you to share great times with I sure do .

    Nice to see someone besides me using an estwing, not everyone can afford a $200 axe. I've had one for thirty years love it

    • @wituikbws
      @wituikbws  7 років тому

      That's actually why I don't have any Gränsfors Bruk axes and any like them. Cheap doesn't exactly mean bad. I find it's all about maintaining the edge and it cuts just as well as any 200$ axe would.

      Thanks. Wish I could say but I have no idea what the brand is. It's just a 30$ surplus pack from Surplus Herbies with a 4$ pouch I added to the front of it. :)

    I showed this shelter to my wife and told her how great a shelter this was that you guys built. I told her we should go do one. She said no and laughed. Then I looked at her and told her I was going to ask you how you got your wife to go along with this without complaining. I told her whoever he is, he's a brilliant genius and has many secrets he should share with mankind. 😂😂😂✌️

    good videos talk a bit if you would. how far from camp is water supply?

    • @wituikbws
      @wituikbws  6 років тому

      Thanks! Talking isn't needed. Water supply is pretty much the snow, since the stream we're right beside is dry

    2018 -11 - 08 Dear friend, I wonder if you meet other sounds, at night if you are sleeping, maybe. a bear. . What would happen to you. Is that enough to guard you, my friend !!! you are great men, good work you do. ,,, want to teach me your badness like you

      We had something boldly walk up to our camp right on the other side of the wall, and when I looked I didin't see anything. No idea what it was but Marie and I both heard it. It was strange. The firearm I carry is more than enough to protect us! I recommend it if you're ever in the market. It's a Marlin .45-70.

      They don't need to. Watching the cinematography and listening to the ambient sounds its what makes Nick's series entertaining and unique to other channels.

      Paul Nixon All my axes are sharp but the small estwing hatchet. Can't get a good edge on that thing. Not sure why aha
