    all that fresh snow can be a good water source, just get a bunch of buckets to hold it all in til you need to melt some, nice looking camp!

    Excellent job! I like the idea of putting up three walls around the fire pit. Too bad you had to put up with snow before you could finish up. Unfortunately spring will bring out the mosquitoes and black flies to wreak havoc while you finish building camp. If you two were my kids I'd be very proud with what you have accomplished. I look forward to more videos in a few months. Keep up the great work and posting your progress this spring.

      Thank you! I figured three would be better then two :). The snow really did screw us over, specifically on the roof. Luckily where I live the mosquitoes and black flies aren't bad. Thank you for the comments though!

    Hi Nicholas, I just found your channel and watched the full video. Nice camp! At the beginning you showed your tool bag, I suggest putting a wood brace and a 1/4" and a 1/2" drill bit inside. Having the ability to drill holes for securing two or more pieces of wood together is a plus. You can then use wood dowels or just tie thing's together in a more permanent fashion. Just a thought! Enjoy your time in the woods, I did when I was young and miss being there!

    Outstanding job! Really great camp. I especially like the shelter that has an a frame and a lean to. I've never seen that before and it seems that would be ideal. Just subscribed. Really awesome camp!

      Thank you! I'm kind of surprised that not many people have seen a shelter like this, it just makes sense to me. It's like a tent and a standard lean-to in one, perfect for all year camping :)

    I like how solid you made the fire reflector. Any reason you didn't do this on the short side walls of the shelter? The little horizontal sticks currently there don't seem to be dealing well with the snow.

    • @wituikbws
      @wituikbws  6 років тому

      We tried. The only reason I didn't was because I figured it'd take more time. Time was always on our minds out there sadly, when it really shouldn't have been. My regret. Most of the sticks are doing well though, I just knocked a few over by accident before it snowed aha

    Leave the protruding sections of the posts without cutting them off and run paracord between them to hang and dry items when needed.

  • @mikeboone4425

    Nicholas this being so old it hurts my back watching this snow shoveling. Could be you could make longer handle and just hide it in the shelter structure, that way no one will know what it is and won't take it could add years to your bending ability .Happy Trails you to .

    • @wituikbws
      @wituikbws  7 років тому +1

      That's actually a great idea, I may do that today actually. That shovels length is convenient when you aren't using it but when you are it sucks

    • @mikeboone4425
      @mikeboone4425 7 років тому +1

      Yup the back will probably bother me while I go out and mow the yard and do a few other things and it's all your guys fault . It does our hearts good watching you 2 have such great times out and about, later yard work to do now . Happy trails

    • @wituikbws
      @wituikbws  7 років тому +1

      No problem. I figured it'd look a bit better and direct the hear towards the shelter more :)

      @aktrapper6126 6 років тому

      Not to mention it protects the fire from the wind in three directions, also if you put a pole across two of the walls you could use it for drying cloths or if you moved it over the fire you could use it for hanging pots. Really no need for the tripod. Nice camp by the way.

    Well this was a weird video. Are you guys deaf? Just trying to figure why no one spoke. Your dog seems out of place, like a city person left to their own devices in the bush. First video I've seen of silent bushcraft. Thanks?
