It's so sad. It's like they highlight their productions are going to be utter shite with the rest of their baggage or "beliefs" that you know to stay away. Ditch this bullshit, go look up Tiny Rogues for $9 instead... or y'know, just play the original SH2. To hell with the grave robbers.
You'd hope, but I don't forsee this happening. The replay value of the remake is extremely high, and there are so many extra layers to discover, that it feels incredible to revisit.
@@FearFrontierOFFICIAL Bruh it's been about 2 weeks & SH2make looks dead. Only about 4000 playing on Steam. It looks like you chumps moved over to the next flavor of the month, Dragon Ass Failguard. RE4make had 100k consistent players still playing the game months after release but SH2make couldn't even retain 5000 after 2 weeks lol.
Bloober Team ain't know for having good games now of the sudden people thinking that this is better than the original? Idk how much these people are getting paid to lie or what drugs they're smoking, either way that shit is ridiculous.
Shills need to keep getting those review codes and early access, and the ones not getting any acknowledgment from companies like Konami or Bloober Team are looking for virtual high fives from new fans that are experiencing Silent Hill for the first time with the remake.
Just look how many posh gamer girls now popped up. All are playing remake, and some of them doesn't even bother to add "remake" in the title. That's modern marketing.
People that say the modernized remake is better than the original either don’t no Silent Hill, or they’re being lead by shills. The game is only silent hill by name, SH is not meant to be an action game. The lore and cinematography is all wrong and completely takes away from the true experience. People need to understand it’s ok to not like something
Yes, it's perfectly if someone doesn't like something, that seems to be something many refuse to understand. We're not obligated to like these remakes, especially when many of us have played the original games, like Silent Hill 2, and the remake clearly fails to recapture the magic from the og SH2.
So my friend got the game and streamed it for me. Since I'm a Silent Hill purist and essentially avoid anything after SH4 i got to see the first part up to the apartment complex. In the Original James was able to piece together in the first like 3 minutes of the original game that the park besides the lake could be the "special place" the letter mentioned. Bloober team in their infinite wisdom decided to prolong this very simple train of logic and have altered it into a time consuming multi-stage "puzzle " where you spend more time exploring the town (while fighting the same lying figure at nausea which honestly misses the point entirely) collecting pieces of a jukebox so it can then play a piece of music that helps James remember the aforementioned special place. What was once a focused short and intimately foreboding route to the first main area has been artificially lengthened in the most inane sloppy manner! And for what? A handful of non consequential areas that add nothing.
I saw a few streams and gameplay videos, even the previews from "journalists", and I didn't like how Bloober Team decided to derail things and prolong the game overall with nothing of real substance, instead of recreating what worked well in the original.
It’s really not that much longer. Plus, it adds more lore to the town, adds a bit more emotion to James’ journey, gives more symbolism with the “fixable” record, and leans onto the loop theory more. Fair enough though.
@@TheBlueLink3 I sat there and watched it add absolutely nothing of consequence. The best you are gonna get outta me is "boy it sure is different" it's not better it's longer the areas you explore are meh you fight the same enemy too many times and even the atmospheric music begins to loop because the track isn't long enough to sustain the added exploration. Add to that inner spoken monologue which rips me right out of the experience and yeah it's more disposable remakes. Glad you enjoy it though my friend does too.
@@Gabbagool86 I'll just add that you shouldn't be fighting the enemies a lot in the streets. Just like the original, you should be running away most of the time in this part of the game. Also, James really doesn't have much spoken inner monologue throughout the game. He's pretty silent for most of the game.
People that grew up on the OG silent hill 2 and other games are soon gonna be seen as the new boomers. It sucks, but modern AAA games are now all like this where they cater to "Modern Audiences." We are forced to cling to the old days.
Great video well said the fact that bloober team even added the scene of maria mocking the classic costume towards james show you they have no pride or artistic integrity and just wait, once the maria dlc comes out the mental gymnastics will intensifiy.
Bloober Team thought it was a good idea to mock the fans, just like Rocksteady did with Harley Quinn finding her Arkham Knight outfit, and Ninja Theory with DMC reboot with the Dante wig, and we know how that worked out for them.
@@TheBlueLink3 She's not mocking, but the devs/writers are. Hence why she isnt wearing it in the first place. Be interesting if she changes into it later in the game as a sort of "gotchyas" tho I have my doubts
The new outfit for her was literally designed by original member of Team Silent who worked on this game. Classic examples of boomers just finding excuse to hate on something on simple premise that they don't like something because it's new and somehow invalidates the old game\movie in your minds. It's literally just easter egg that you read too much into it. Maria even thinks it's cute. I don't know what's up with boomers and this game. RE fans were never this obnoxious.
Just because you take an iconic classic and give it shiny new graphics but strip the essence to replace it with virtue signaling or convoluted changes doesn't make it a worthy remake or better than the original. It's extremely inferior and disrespectful to the original work in every way. When it's suppose to preserve and respect it in current day. I thought that's what a remake was supposed to be. Yet, sadly, alike many other things, remake completely lost it's meaning. By these companies not respecting the originals they also don't respect the true fans. Collectively, people need to stop blindly supporting them.
Exactly, this remake misses the mark on what made the original great, it does a disservice to what the original devs (Team Silent) created decades ago, the nods to og SH2 are surface level, while everything comes across as pandering to a completely different audience. The Silent Hill 2 remake could have remained faithful to the original game and the fans, while also generating interest from new fans, with some tweaks here and there while maintaining what made the og SH2 so iconic.
How it's "inferior" and "disrespectful"? It's literally the same plot and same game just remade in modern engine. You boomers were saying the exact same shit about RE2-4 remakes, claiming "originals are superior" but are now claiming how those games are blueprint for remakes. It's really pathetic tbh. It's just boomers being stuck in past, because you think that new game will somehow invalidate old one.
@@RevenantRemnant You do realize that members of original Team Silent worked on this game, right? Like I said, boomers just being boomers, 99% of time you just hate it on basis of being new, because you are still stuck in past telling of "good old days".
@@J.J.Jameson_of_Daily_Buglei liked RE2R and RE4R and they are for sure 100% better but silent hill 2 remake naaah they did not respect the original game
@@J.J.Jameson_of_Daily_Bugle The fact that you asked how SH2 remake is inferior and disrespectful to the original just proved what I said. It shows how blinded you are to the obvious changes that are not hard to miss because that's how loud these devs are with their disrespect and you're willing to overlook it because shiny new graphics. THAT's truly pathetic. If it was same then Maria would be still be wearing her original outfit with her tattoo in the place but in 4k. That's just one prime example. That blatant change was intentional on the devs part and negates the whole symbolism that is Maria. So, no, it's nowhere near the same. It's because of that it does make the remake inferior to the original. RE2 has a reason to be remastered because of the outdated gameplay. Story and character wise, it still pales to the original. RE3 remake was terrible and 4 remake didn't need to exist. The original was and still holds up today. Annnnd I'm not old to be a boomer. Those boomers you are referring to are intgerity lacking shills.
Konami just wanted to create an easy cash grab, if they were serious with this project, then they would have made the game in-house, called back as many members of the OG team silent as they could. I also believe the first silent hill would have benefited better from a remake then silent hill 2, I play silent hill enhanced editios and I don't feel the need for a remake, since the game still holds on in many aspects. Konami could just update the models, and build on the strong foundations of the enhanced edition, and make a good remaster of 2(Instead of the slob that was 2/3 remaster in 2013). But again they wanted a quick cash grab, and some good DEI and ESG investment money.
Agreed, they should have remade Silent Hill 1 instead, with devs in house and contact former Team Silent devs to approve of anything on get advice. Sadly, like you said Konani wanted DEI and ESG investment money, they skipped SH1 and went with SH2 instead, because Konami wanted easy sales, which is why they got Bloober Team of all the studios out there, to remake SH2, and allowed a consulting firm to tamper with the game.
Calling this a cash grab is a little harsh. You can tell Bloober put a lot of effort into this game. It's not possible to remake SH2 and make it anywhere near as good as the original, but this remake is far from a half-assed attempt. I really enjoyed it. It can never replace the original, but it didn't need to.....maybe you're right, modern audiences would have benefited more from a solid remaster vs this, but we both know modern gamers aren't very patient, and SH2 takes a lot of patience to stick with playing through today. It's like reading a book. It doesn't start getting engaging until you're hours in. SH2 isn't an easy playthrough. It takes patience and focus to really enjoy to it's fullest.
@@v0idthrashtilldeath127true, idk how that game hasn't been cancelled yet, it looked pretty good at first but now it's so far removed from what it originally was going to be, it's a shame activists ruined it.
I'm still waiting for the SH2 remake sales to come out, because I really don't want to see a remake of the other SHs, especially SH1. I hope more people think like you
Hot take, I don't think we need "new fans" because just about every one of them has a mental disability and lives on reddit/X. I can't stand the new fans trying to relate the characters in the game to their mental instabilities. They try to come up with fan theories so insane that even masahiro ito has to comment on and tell them they're wrong.
True, new fans usually consist of weirdos making up theories and trying to relate to characters with screwed up lives, I know Ito cringes when he sees the dumb crap these people post.
Everybody saw that a mile away and now we got fake fans pretending that they have been fans of the franchise for the past 20 years saying SH2R is a masterpiece when in reality that touched SH2 when they were a kid once for 5 minutes and called it a day. These people are tourists and NPCs consooming whatever slop if the week is and moving onto the next the following week.
@adamshalashaska5698 "I knew it would be crap", thats why you had to dig deep to find a video like this one confirming your own biased views before even playing the game lmao. 9.2 Userscore on metacritic, seems like over 90% of silent hill fans disagree with you
@@Amir_97 Who cares what the popular opinion is. People loved Alien: Romulus and that film is garbage with an utterly broken premise and creates plotholes for Aliens.
I just knew there was a reason they skipped 1 and went right to 2 the "fan favorite". It had a smell of business cynicism about it. Fear of risk, fear of actual innovation. Playing it super safe for "modern audiences" Not unlike the upcoming MGS Delta, also a remake of the considered most popular entry in that series. The mindless consumers are enjoying it but they aren't hard to please. If the reviews remain relatively high for a good few months yet I may try it but until then no dice
Why is mary acting nothing like mary in the intro to this video? The moment james was like "uhh sure" mary should be like "WHAT DO YOU MEAN SURE YOU DONT CARE ABOUT ME DO YOU" thats the entire point of her character to manipulate james
This game does have a lot of pros, but it also got a good amount of cons. I understand why this game is getting a lot of hype because their are a lot of gamers that love Action horror that Silent Hill 2 remake became like playing Resident Evil as Leon S Kennedy. What a lot of gamers don't understand is that Silent Hill is a Physiological Survival Horror, not Action horror is the problem. The game isn't even scary and why they had to put jumpscares. I believe the dodge button was a bad idea because now I'm playing Dark Hills (Dark Souls) instead since I can learn the enemies movements and attack patterns easily.
@@elchar3577 they changed her outfit for no reason lol I'm sure he doesn't mean that the main character is dunking on it like come on man what kinda response is that
@@rebirthofgodrics907 because the usual excuse were given for these changes is "realistic". well the original outfit was on a real woman back in the day. so their reasons for the change especially the symbolism of what maria is meant to represent is made lesser. shes literally made to be the dark desire reflection of mary. more sensual in mannerism, more risque in her dress.
The defenders of modern games are so tiring, always asking for obvious proof for wokeness and dei. I don't even bother anymore. I just enjoy my old games.
They like to play dumb and ask questions they know the answers to, the DEI nonsense is what they love more than the game itself, that's why they can never understand an opposing opinion or anyone explaining why most modern games and remakes are abysmal.
Well you have to remember they have social media teams on all platforms defending them, even steam has one and Dear God if I see one of those annoying fuks in person I don't know what I do
I always dislike how people always think that the remake is better then the original game. While in some cases that is true, but other times people are just blinded by modernization, that they think anything old is considered bad. Even in my own country too many people have the newer = better mentality, which is complete BS in my opinion. People can call me whatever they want, but I rather play the original Silent Hill 2 any day of the week, rather then playing a remake which is made by people who hate gamers.
Bro they made abstract daddy make all this noise and shaking just to distract you from any implications and his design (which looks stupid asf in remake with him standing up with his t rex arms but him being this juggernaut creature is to make sure you don't focus on inspiration behind him too much , it's so pathetic)
@@MGrey-qb5xz I also dislike how they handled Pyramid Head's introduction in the remake as well. In the original game it was menacing and James felt believable when he was scared of him, plus he shot Pyramid Head at his body, which just pissed him off and it created more terror because of it. In the remake, Pyramid Head was just the Spongebob meme were Patrick yells: He just stands there, MENACINGLY! Like bro, how do you fuck this up?
@@Asaylum117 Dude it's literally the same cutscene just different angle. You should probably replay original game. Laura looked possessed when she called James fart face, like what normal kid looks like that? Some people, especially those who grew up and played the original Silent Hill 2 game are allowed to criticize the remake. If you don't like it, then go somewhere else.
They all seem manufactured, like no one is really give it their all despite them saying in dev diaries or interviews how honored they are to remake this game or it's a dream come true, when everything leading to release says a different story and the final product doesn't come across as a passion project or anything like that.
5:10 This game kept making me think, "If I were the lead gameplay designer of Callisto Protocol I'd be furious, cuz this game's combat is basically the same exact system"
If you don't like this remake, imagine what they will do in SH3 Remake. I can already see them turning Heather into a fearless woman who will not feel or show fear throughout the entire game, every other word from her will be curse word and she will probably thrash monsters with ease. She'll probably also tell her father over the phone that she doesn't love him because he's a man and that he has no right to tell her to come home, and she'll probably beat up the detective. She will also become nobinary character and look more like Heath Ledger than Heather Mason.
They would definitely turn Heather into a girl boss if Silent Hill 3 got remade, and the shills will defend it and claim her character is the same as the original.

Correction: don't play any version of the original (ie. REAL) Silent Hill 2 game other than the PlayStation 2 version (ideally the expanded Greatest Hits release) running on either a real PlayStation 2 console or a backward-compatible PlayStation 3, hooked up to a cathode-ray tube television set. If this is not possible, then play the Windows version with the Silent Hill 2 Enhanced Edition modification package. Every other release of Silent Hill 2 ranges from inferior, to downright broken.
HD version still let´s you experience the original unlike this game, since all the shills keep saying that the remake lets you play the game which is not available in anyway.
@@tenacious645 Everyone knows that but it still has the original story, cinematography, original story creators direction for how characters act and for music since Yamaoka is completely clueless about the lore and story. Thank you, I was starting to think that all SH fans are morons, because they all seem to think this censored DEI garbage is a perfect remake. Thankfully, despite the massive shill campaign, the game actually seem to be doing quite poorly in terms of sales, so hopefully Bloober won't get to deface any more of the SH games in the future.
Unfortunately certain fans are fooled by shiny graphics, modern camera perspectives, and the idea that remakes are great no matter what and to have recency bias. Hopefully the Silent Hill 2 remake doesn't do well in sales, I can see Bloober Team making SH3 remake for the modern audience, but if the sales for SH2 remake turns out to be lacking then that would say a lot, considering on paper this remake should do very well in terms of sales.
@@RevenantRemnant Btw speaking of the future of SH and "Remakes", i doubt that a Silent Hill 4 remake can be made without changing almost everything about it, 1st of all take Cynthia's character for example, she literally offers "you know what" to Henry as a reward if he helps her find the exit at the station, we both know that a scene like that one would be removed :P, also the whole peeping on Eileen thing, nah it's impossible with these SJWs, and tbh at the same time i'm happy that it is cuz maybe this will prevent them from touching my fav SH.
The female faces look like the pokemon go avatar update androgynous blobs. Also the fog/mist vibe is not the same as the original your line of sight is further than the original where you could only see 3 feet in front of you thus left a lot to the imagination in the original
I hope so. I'm tired of the "it's better than the original!" takes. It's not a bad game, but to say it's better than the original can only mean you didn't play the original to completion. Morons who don't have the patience to play the original have irrelevant opinions.

I enjoyed the remake quite a bit. It is fun to experience SH2 in a new (albeit inferior) way. To be fair, there is no recreating Silent Hill 2. It truly is lightning in a bottle. I dont believe its possible to remake it without losing something in translation. Every single pixel and soundbyte of the original experience is required for it to be what it is. Changing even one piece of the original dismantles what it is and the emotions it inspires...i dont mean to say anything truly bad about the remake. I think the only thing i dont like is how close the camera is over the shoulder. I much prefer the original style of 3rd person gameplay. Its just gives me a Silent Hill Homecoming vibe, and that game is a cheap feeling horror game.
With Konami allowing this kind of blatant disrespect to the original it has directly removed any interest I've had in the MGS 3 Delta remake they have in the works. Doesn't matter if it's different devs, if Konami as a publisher allowed this travesty to exist then they abolutely allow even more revision in the MGS 3 remake as it was put into development at the height of the DEI consultants influence.
Honestly (as someone who didn't play it when it originally came out) I finally got the enhanced version working and Konami should have found a way to hire those people who made that to help port SH2 to modern consoles. Than remake the titles that needed it like Homecoming.
I'll play the original Silent Hill 2 with my sister in december. I won't never play this remake (I watched some scenes on youtube and made me feel nothing).

Maybe I'll get it when it's half price or available on Game Pass, but this game will never match the original. My real problem with remakes is the creative bankruptcy that is polluting modern media. They would rather stay in the realm of nostalgia and pre-existing IPs rather than taking a chance and making something new. It's boring.
It's either new fans experiencing the game for the first time or certain fans of the original that consume any modern remake and claim they're great due to recency bias.
@@RevenantRemnant Or maybe it's actually just a decent remake... I don't know what you're all clinging to here. Maria and Angela don't look terrible. If the game wasn't titled Silent Hill I'm sure you'd think it's great.
(it didn't need a remake), but I think the third person perspective is a major drawback. With the originals fixed camera, you always felt uneasy, like you weren't fully in control of events. The town was in control. 3rd person means well.. you can shoot stuff from further away
It absolutely needed a remake. The original doesn't hold up for modern gamers. For ME personally, I adore the original. For me, it didn't need a remake. A quality remaster would have been better, but I can't lie I've enjoyed my time with SH2 remake.

I played the original when I was in college, I love this remake. Guess for people like you, we don't qualify as "fans". But the reality is, none of you, including the one who made this video, are the true arbiters of fandom of any franchise or IP, no matter how much you wanna think you are.
What a middle-finger from the woke writers to actually have Maria mock players by dangling her original outfit in front of them. Someone make a F in mod that changes her to the correct outfit and replace the one on the coat hangar to a burqa with a Konami arm sleeve symbol on it! That would make the scene hilarious :D
Dude, THANK YOU SO MUCH for making this video!!!! I love the original Silent Hill 2 so much and my biggest nightmare has come true, which is to see it get the modern audience treatment. Konami and Bloober disrespected and defiled this game, and I will NEVER support them for what they did. You are also right about how easy the standards for games have become now. I knew I'm not the only one that looks back at older games and noticed the love, creativity and dedication that went into what they made. Seems like gamers got comfortable with crap after crap being released and thought "maybe it isn't crap, maybe that's just how games are made now and I'm being too hard on them", so they start to give in to the easy standards. There are also those that have NO creativity whatsoever, and they cannot see what we see when looking back at the beauty of the older games. They just think "oh, nostalgia, that's why they like older games". The multi-billion dollar companies may have manipulated consumers into accepting less (which I believe is done on purpose so that companies don't have to pay for expensive talent), but this "win" they thought they had on the costumer, actually backfired on them. The backfire is that their unauthentic intent also attracted fake and unauthentic customers. These type of costumers only purchase something based on surface value, which is actually the MINORITY of people in the gaming community LOL. That's right, they were thinking gamers are simple-minded consumers that don't care for more than whats on the screen, but now they see we actually DO CARE about the love and quality put into a game.
Exactly, Bloober Team clearly didn't understand what made the original Silent Hill 2 so great, they just copied what Capcom did with Resident Evil 2 remake (more like RE3 remake), and the shills are eating up. While the combat is similar to SH Homecoming and Callisto Protocol, that were heavily criticized, which is hypocritical and shows how modern remakes have conditioned people to only praise just about everything in them, without holding them a high standard, but instead make people lower their standards and accept whatever is given.
Wow revenant it seems you got the one of shills over there to defending James pity face 😬😬... i smells something like DLC with high price since in original theres a sequence where Maria should be playable for a short time when finding someone guess its gonna start with $60 for dlc

I'm playing through the sh2 remake rn, I have one more area to go, the Lakeview hotel, I think for every good change they made, they made 2 bad ones after that, oversimplifications for complicated story parts and overcomplicating simple parts, it's completely ass backwards and I'm so split with my decision on what to rate it, it's shaping up to be a 5.5 or maybe 6/10 game so far, at this point I just wish we got a really good remaster instead of a full blown remake, whoever did it, bloober or the best dev team on earth, it wouldn't have satisfied me because the original did EVERYTHING so right (except for the eddie boss fight, we don't talk about that one)
Agreed, a faithful remaster would have been better, publishers and developers need to understand that not every game needs a remake, especially if said remake ends up being a downgrade to the original.
they never understood the monumental game they had in their hands. therefore with no solid foundation this game was doomed for the real fans from the start
0:24 he’s actually right because most people defending the original are just blind by nostalgia and coping because when Silent Hill 2 first came out it was considered the worst horror game of all time.
@@spider-manunknown9193 that's a lie, original Silent Hill 2 was not considered the worst horror game of all time, you sound like you're coping hard because the trash demake is not getting the praise you think it deserves and a lot of people are preferring the original SH2.
Thank you Bloober team thank you for sharing your creation and fulfilling the half of the expectation for what we've been waiting for years. thank you for having created this game. The game is really good BUT super censored the sexual undertone. I have been waiting for 20 years to have a good Silent Hill game after Silent Hill 1,2,3,the room everythink after Silent Hill 4 the room was bad and was poorly made but you did very well for the gameplay but except for some character design and super censored the sexual undertone. I give you a 6 out of 10. - One, for the bad performance on PC. - Two, for the BAD Angela character design. - Three, for censured the sexual undertone. - Four, only James did a great job for playing the character. And the last thing I have to say is that this is definitely the best game a Bloober team has made, I think they made it the best of anything they have made before. This game is better than Silent Hill Downpour.
I made it clear in the video I don't plan on playing the remake and will stick with the original, if you were actually listening to what was said, you would have known that.
Facts Silent Shills are coping so hard. Don't ask questions just consume product and get excited for next product. This is a vanilla version of the original and it's showing in the steam charts not that impressive at all even modern audiences are passing on it.
It goes to show that the early reviews were meant to gaslight people into buying it, but if the sales and player numbers are lacking for a remake longer in length than the original and has additional endings that require several playthroughs, then it means this remake is not as "amazing" as the shills are making it out to be.
I played and finished it on hard (10h) and it's a 6/10 at best, not terrible but not even great, it's a mid action game, it doesn't even feel like playing a Silent Hill videogame, the puzzles are for little kids, the acting is meh, they copy and pasted the gameplay from Silent Hill Homecoming and Callisto Protocol which have been destroyed for their gameplay lol (the irony and the hipocrisy), the characters are faithful except for Maria who's wearing different clothes and she had her tattoo moved elsewhere for no reason other than jealousy and feminism, it even has 2 instances of feminism propaganda, the graphics is good, the exploration too, the enemies are laughable but at least now they have more than 1 attack and their AI is "a bit" better, there's no horror, not even the psychological one, they didn't even bother to make Maria useful, she just stands there during fights lol.
What would happen was obvious to me ever since Konami announced Pooper Team will be developing the remake - there was only one way this could go. Now our only hope is that all those indian spammers and resetera freaks weren't enough to sell this game. There still is a chance it won't do well enough for Konami, much like Dead Space Remake didn't for EA
Hopefully it's a repeat of Dead Space remake, because if Silent Hill 3 gets remade, Heather will be turned into a girl boss and instead of Hit Detection working with Bloober Team, they'll work with Sweet Baby Inc instead.
Nah, it is better- and I've been there since the beginning. It stays faithful to what needs to be faithful and changes what needed to be changed (mostly). It's way scarier and Akira Yamaoka's reprisal and remaster of the original score is phenomenal. Obviously the original holds a place in my heart but the remake is way more refined and immersive. The visual changes to Maria and Angela aren't nearly enough to pass judgement. The performance is rough but has been mostly fixed on PC with mods- though it hasn't even been out for a week so I'm sure it will get official updates. I'm sure mods will also fix the visual changes as well as the missing iconic Pyramid Head scene... I know it sucks they changed a few small details but they're honestly pretty minor. It's not like they made James gay or put rainbow flags on crosswalks...
Since Silent Hill 2 is my favorite piece of entertainment of all time, I could not idly sit by and watch its remake come and go. I needed to see for myself if it is worthy of even a simple revisit to a town I have visited hundreds of times. I was willing to hate it, I was expecting to be indifferent if not angry, but to mine and nearly everyone's surprise, it's good. I am sorry to those that want to hate it so much, but the truth is, it's good. If you really are a fan, I suggest, at the very least, trying it through Blue Creek Apartment, before completing dismissing it. It's good, and unlike some here suggest, it is not forgettable. It is a game with replayability like the first, and is even more layered than the original. I will never call it better, because nostalgia won't allow me that, but objectively, the remake lives up to the original incredibly well. Silent Hill 2 is now both my favorite and 2nd favorite game of all time. You're free to hate a game you chose not to play for reasons, but you are missing out.
To be fair, I haven't kept up with it, I'm not really a Metal Gear fan, but regardless I hope the remake remains faithful to the original and turns out to be a great remake.
Thanks for remind me of MGS 3 remake that exists. I don't trust that either In fact, I don't trust anything Konami related after Silent Hills and MGS V fiasco
I never played SH as its not my genre. Not like I'm gonna start now woth this remake. I'd just play the original which is the more definitive edition. I heard the new Metal Gear is untouched apparently, but I wont hold my breath. And i wish someone would buy Rumble Roses from them. At least a successor would be nice. I saw one on Twitter a while back, but I dont know what the progress of it is now. Plus I forgot the name of the game
If anything, definitely stick with the original, while it may not be your go to genre, it's still worth a try, you may end up enjoying it. I wish Rumble Roses came back, but of course under a studio that will actually do it justice, especially in this current state of gaming, but if there's any Rumble Roses successors being made, then I hope they turn out well.
If you never played the original I'd say definitely play this.... The originals were great for their time but if you never played them before I guarantee you'll find them awkward and clunky. It's my favorite series and I've been there since the beginning and I can honestly say this is the best it's been. It's the most refined and polished and obviously looks the best if you have the hardware to run it (though I'd wait a bit for some patches to come out as performance is pretty rough at the moment without mods).
People scream that Silent Hill 2 was never a combat heavy game to begin with and it was clunky and jank and made fighting even more of a chore. Yet in the same breath claim Silent Hill 2 remake is to action oriented....really? Did we play the same game. Half the time it was just running past groups of enimies and knowing when to fight or flee. James wasnt back flipping, didnt do a suplex, doesnt roll, slide or even shimmy. Silent Hill 2 was always geared towards the story and puzzles and they stayed damn near close to the puzzles and expanded upon them, dare i say made them more engaging. Lets be honest though no matter what Blooper team did with the combat some of wouldnt have been happy regardless. I mean for crying out loud an average joe is very much capable of dodging incoming attacks and blows. One small detail which im surprised nobody mentioned is that James doesnt even hold the damn gun the correct way and holds his finger in the trigger the whole time which if you knew firearms thats a big no no and you never rest your finger on the trigger. Not enough monsters, to many monsters, no variety, to much variety. Not long enough, to long, brain dead puzzles, clever puzzles, to much fug, not enough fog. Its like at some point this game was never gonna please people no matter direction they took. Also what happened to being adults and to Agree to disagree. People shouldnt be attacked because they like the remake and it offers a different perspective on the title. The remake was never or is ever gonna replace the OG Silent Hill 2 game but they sure as shit can co-exist and thrive together. Am i missing something ?
The game could have been hit with all but they had to alter the game and uglify the characters. Its nothing but mediocrity. Play the original with Enhanced edition patch.
The game has peak 24 000 concurrent players - dead space 26 000 and was failure … i love to see people pretending this game is aaa title ( Konami doesn’t have a 140 mil average cost). When it looks worse then ps4 titles like re2 in 4 and has 5 enemies with the same single melee combo loop ( 3 guns in 3 or 4 melee weapons) yet its getting higher scores then re7 or re2r which sold 12 million copies and was game of year contender
gaming changed after resident evil 2 remake if that game doesn't sell well all of these survival horror game remakes never come to be but difference is re2 remake jill looked like a cute Slavic woman not a man lol and u saw they got rid of cute women in re by re3 remake the next year since what studios do is they make one awsome game everyone buys it and after that the following games they jam thier transc0ks down everyone's throat i.e. The now infamous ghost of yotei game
True, devs now make a good game or remake, then after building good faith with fans, the sequel or next remake has DEI woke nonsense sprinkled in, but since the previous games did well, fans defend the next game while ignoring the red flags, just like you said with Ghost of Yotei.
But the remake is such a garbage woke piece of shit. Didn't you saw new Angella face and Maria new outfit with mini-skirt and butterflye tatoo on the chest!? Bloober team doesn't understand what makes the original so beautiful, but I understand because I'm smart and everyone around is stupid! QUIT HAVING FUN!!!
Ah well i really enjoyed it it i was worried about it being woke but its really not sure they made a couple characters slightly less attractive it didnt take away from the experience for me. I give it a 9/10 best horror remake outside of RE4 and dead space.
completely agree! The atmosphere is still intact, I actually feel more dread than I did with the Original. I know linear gameplay isnt everyones cup of tea but I appreciate not being stuck on puzzles for hours like the first 2 OG SH. Combat is good, it does NOT need to be perfect. This is what adds the intensity to encounters for me.
This is resident evil 43 (or whatever number they're on now) with a silent hill 2 skin....I'm good I'll just play Days Gone and Ghost of Tsushima....btw Days Gone will never get a sequel or the trilogy that was promised because you play as a scruffy straight white male with a gun and Ghost of Tsushima 2 was ruined because of the same woke garbage
True, the games media dragged Days Gone for playing as "another white male" but will be giving nonstop praise to Ghost of Yotei for literally playing as another girl boss, the same girl boss character that's been ruining games for the last several years.
Since the comment section is full of these i know i will get hate comments I get the censorship and the performance but i still geniuenly do not understand how this getting so much hate and ive played both games. Og definitely has the better atmosphere and story and honestly thats about it everything else is a straight up upgrade. Gameplay. Graphics yes even the character models how come this gets hate but stuff like resi 4 remake and resi 1 remake get so much love. I Geniuenly did not enjoy resi 1 remake compared to the og and as for resi 4 remake while it is an upgrade in almost every aspect i can think of it was still painfull to through i do get that it the remake was like this since I personally prefer the OG for both but aside of story and performance the game plays so much better than og
I didnt want to make it to long but i should’ve added the remake the amount of enemies is absurd especially towards the end tho thats all The only good remakes ive seen were resi2 and this one
Everyone talks about RE2 and RE4 remake but I think the RE1 remake is better than both. The RE1 remake did not abandon the fixed camera angles. The original RE3 was scary because Nemesis would chase you through these fixed angles. The over shoulder angle is so over used in many video games these days. The fixed camera angle is literally what made the games scary in the first place. Same with the Team Silent Silent Hill games. The fixed camera angle literally shows you the scale of the town, otherworld and monsters.
@@petermj1098 depends on who u ask but as a remake yea it is the best remake ,i personally hated it since i always hated fixed cameras even when i was a kid , the remake did add crimson heads which just made me alt f4 the game i dont have complaints about it just not for me

"ad nauseam" not "at nausea".

She doesn’t even mock it. She likes the outfit.

There is no calling back the original team ever, after the way they treated them. Kojima wasn't the first person they treated like shit

Sadly, like you said Konani wanted DEI and ESG investment money, they skipped SH1 and went with SH2 instead, because Konami wanted easy sales, which is why they got Bloober Team of all the studios out there, to remake SH2, and allowed a consulting firm to tamper with the game.
@@RevenantRemnant Same happend with bloodlines 2, so sad. The OG concept looked intreasting, but then the studio wanted money so went to DEI and ESG.
Calling this a cash grab is a little harsh. You can tell Bloober put a lot of effort into this game. It can never replace the original, but it didn't need to.....maybe you're right, modern audiences would have benefited more from a solid remaster vs this, but we both know modern gamers aren't very patient, and SH2 takes a lot of patience to stick with playing through today.
You are making shit up about original cutscene just because you like the game more or you played it like 20 years ago and it's much more powerful in your mind then it actually is. The original cutscene now looks like mannequin model glitched due to high frame rate.
Also nobody says this is better game. You boomers are absolutely insane when it comes to any movie or game remake. People just liked the game, most don't even make comparison but in boomer's minds, if people like new thing it somehow invalidates original, which is absolutely insane. You can still enjoy both games, much like lot of people enjoy Dead Space or RE2-4.
It's just this insane boomer mentality that they cannot unstuck from past. You hate it on simple premise that it's "not like good old days". @@J.J.Jameson_of_Daily_Bugle Also, no one said anything negative about the RE 2 or 4 remakes, because they were made by developers who actually loved the source material. While the Silent Hill 2 Remake literally made female characters look like they were stung by bees, especially Angela. Laura looked possessed when she called James fart face, like what normal kid looks like that? Some people, especially those who grew up and played the original Silent Hill 2 game are allowed to criticize the remake. If you don't like it, then go somewhere else.
Why do the majority of Remakes feel like AI? Was watching Synthetic Man play this and it's just, like you said "soulless".
They all seem manufactured, like no one is really give it their all despite them saying in dev diaries or interviews how honored they are to remake this game or it's a dream come true, when everything leading to release says a different story and the final product doesn't come across as a passion project or anything like that.

Bela Legosi: "BULLSHIT!"
they hire consultants that tell them "ugh, she can perfectly open the door herself"
She will also become nobinary character and look more like Heath Ledger than Heather Mason.
oof reminds me of that freak show Claire in re2 remake, I hated that ugly sailor mouth so much
They would definitely turn Heather into a girl boss if Silent Hill 3 got remade, and the shills will defend it and claim her character is the same as the original.
@@RevenantRemnant They will also put regenerative health in order not to stress the modern audience and to symbolically say that Heather is stronger and gets back on her feet no matter what, while James and Harry are weaker in this regard because they have to use medicine to survive.

@@RevenantRemnant oh yeah, its not like there isnt an entire character arc about how heather stop being afraid of the situation she is in (its not like there is a literal piece of dialog on Leondard's boss fight about how she isnt afraid of it anymore, but well, i guess only you played SH3).
Make Silent Hill 2 great again 2024.

*1) Where is the OG music which defined SH2?*
If you thought the gameplay was meh, the one thing you could take away was all the awesome tracks. They're barely used (2-3 instances that weren't short cutscenes) and heavily remixed. They over-utilize industrial ambient scrape-scapes in lieu of of the classic music which appears so seldom in this Demake. Seriously, where the hell is the music? Heaven's Night plays for half a minute when you're in the strip club... where is the music? 🤔
*2) Why is there so much combat? Why is there only 3-4 enemy types?*
_Not very diverse of you, Blooper!_ Maybe you're not familiar with the actual definition of the word? Did you confuse this game with Resident Evil or TLoU? Also why is the combat not challenging but rather, feels like a complete chore? 🤔
*3) Why does every female have a large square jaw except for the child, Laura?*
*_What did they mean by this????_* 🤔Is a wood chipper or 🚁ride going to be required??!?
*4) Why the needless censorship?*
We can see blood, guts, people dying, satanic symbols but James can't look at Maria's buttocks or she can't wear her old clothes from the original. It's instead lampshaded in a poor meta moment. Is the piss poor VA work apart of the censorship?
_Hit Detection LLC?_ 🤔 Hey, who are Aggro Consulting? 🤔
*5) **_If you haven't played the original, I don't want to hear a vehement detraction to my points._** Your opinion is automatically moot.*
_Especially if you're under the age of 30._ Go back to Roblox, CoD Pt. 37, or Volcano High if this is the case.
This "remake" represents a half-baked attempt to revive a game that was a cult-classic. _A game that was poorly compared to Resident Evil during it's initial release, I might add._ The bones are there in terms of the technology and _most_ of the assets (sans female models)... but it doesn't deliver. Especially at $70. *As Mr. Remnant points out in his video:* if you're going to play dumb and pretend you can't find an .ISO & an emulator OR use a modded PS2 to play the original - a fool & his money are quickly parted. Especially lazy fools. _I've always held the point that most Demakes should include the original game with purchase / license of the "Remake"._

Do all parties a favor and stop with this idiocy. *Hey, but... you wouldn't come in here to defend the multi-billion dollar corporations, right?*

Correction: don't play any version of the original (ie. Every other release of Silent Hill 2 ranges from inferior, to downright broken.

What about the xbox version? Or the Enhanced Edition patch for the PC Version?
Thank you, I was starting to think that all SH fans are morons, because they all seem to think this censored DEI garbage is a perfect remake.
Nailed it, thank you, great vid
It's a fun experience. It doesn't reach the original in terms of quality but it is worth playing.

Maybe I'll get it when it's half price or available on Game Pass, but this game will never match the original. My real problem with remakes is the creative bankruptcy that is polluting modern media.

- Two, for the BAD Angela character design.
- Three, for censured the sexual undertone.
- Four, only James did a great job for playing the character.

Space Marine 2 is better than this beta male game and The First Descendant got a new epic update ❤
Space Marine 2 and The First Descendant are worth playing over the Silent Hill 2 demake, sponsored by Hit Detection.
I played and finished it on hard (10h) and it's a 6/10 at best, not terrible but not even great, it's a mid action game, it doesn't even feel like playing a Silent Hill videogame, the puzzles are for little kids, the acting is meh, they copy and pasted the gameplay from Silent Hill Homecoming and Callisto Protocol which have been destroyed for their gameplay lol (the irony and the hipocrisy), the characters are faithful except for Maria who's wearing different clothes and she had her tattoo moved elsewhere for no reason other than jealousy and feminism, it even has 2 instances of feminism propaganda, the graphics is good, the exploration too, the enemies are laughable but at least now they have more than 1 attack and their AI is "a bit" better, there's no horror, not even the psychological one, they didn't even bother to make Maria useful, she just stands there during fights lol.
well i guess i will stay with the original
What would happen was obvious to me ever since Konami announced Pooper Team will be developing the remake - there was only one way this could go. Now our only hope is that all those indian spammers and resetera freaks weren't enough to sell this game. There still is a chance it won't do well enough for Konami, much like Dead Space Remake didn't for EA

@@RevenantRemnant If SH2 remake is succesful, they'll prob go for SH1 first, plenty to fuck up there too
Nah, it is better- and I've been there since the beginning.
I dont buy remakes !
I understand what you mean, also what your thoughts on metal gear solid delta?
To be fair, I haven't kept up with it, I'm not really a Metal Gear fan, but regardless I hope the remake remains faithful to the original and turns out to be a great remake.

Y'all complain about everything it's just a dam game.
Yeah, a shitty game.
Modder Better crack this new engine and make the real remake on original game instead of
People scream that Silent Hill 2 was never a combat heavy game to begin with and it was clunky and jank and made fighting even more of a chore.
Looks worse then ps4 titles. You are joking right?
Games peak dropped to 9K lol
Some people will just never let go of the past and find problems with everything.
Yeah something about forgetting the past and doomed to repeat it. See you in 10 years when Konami needs a quick cash injection.
I agree Silent Hill 2 remake is another soulless remake that don’t want purchase. Everything I have seen Original much better than it.
gaming changed after resident evil 2 remake if that game doesn't sell well all of these survival horror game remakes never come to be but difference is re2 remake jill looked like a cute Slavic woman not a man lol and u saw they got rid of cute women in re by re3 remake the next year since what studios do is they make one awsome game everyone buys it and after that the following games they jam thier transc0ks down everyone's throat i.e.
@@RevenantRemnant yes
But the remake is such a garbage woke piece of shit. Didn't you saw new Angella face and Maria new outfit with mini-skirt and butterflye tatoo on the chest!?
Bloober team doesn't understand what makes the original so beautiful, but I understand because I'm smart and everyone around is stupid!
QUIT HAVING FUN!!!
Awesome content please remove or lower the music though.
@@RevenantRemnant thank you acknowledging the pattern of fuckery afoot in the gaming industry
Since the comment section is full of these i know i will get hate comments
I get the censorship and the performance but i still geniuenly do not understand how this getting so much hate and ive played both games.
I didnt want to make it to long but i should’ve added the remake the amount of enemies is absurd especially towards the end tho thats all
The only good remakes ive seen were resi2 and this one
Everyone talks about RE2 and RE4 remake but I think the RE1 remake is better than both. The RE1 remake did not abandon the fixed camera angles. The original RE3 was scary because Nemesis would chase you through these fixed angles.
The over shoulder angle is so over used in many video games these days. The fixed camera angle is literally what made the games scary in the first place.
Same with the Team Silent Silent Hill games. The fixed camera angle literally shows you the scale of the town, otherworld and monsters.
@@petermj1098 depends on who u ask but as a remake yea it is the best remake ,i personally hated it since i always hated fixed cameras even when i was a kid , the remake did add crimson heads which just made me alt f4 the game
i dont have complaints about it just not for me
There are weirdos out there giving this a 9/10 🤣🤣 You just cant make this shit up anymore zoomers are out of controll
Modern gaming has lowered people's standards, sadly.
I'm just going to stick with signalis at this point
