Stich is one of my all-time favorite players. His play and tactics make me smile. His matches with Edberg were epic, both players were true artists of the game.

Back then, the top 10 players were asked who is the hardest to beat when in good form. 8 of the 10 said Michael Stich.

The service action was so simple yet so supremely effective, powerful and precise, really enjoyed watching him play, seemed like a good bloke too.

One of the all-round players. Possessed every shot in the book. Loved his smooth fluent technique.

Stich made me fall in love with tennis. To me, he had the best one-handed backhand ever. One of the few players of his generation to have a winning record against Sampras. Unfortunately, he did not fare well against Agassi and Kafelnikov. It is a pity he ended his career prematurely. He could have achieved so much more given his talent.

I was a huge fan of him as a kid!
It was a very different era however. Like many players of his time, he was effective as long as the points were very short (2-3 hit rallies max) Great server& volleyer and solid returner.

Super clean service (the step in the court kind) and super clean shots (step into the ball type). Old school, close stance forehand, same league as Lendl's. Backhand with a shorter draw than normal but same trajectory, depth and power as Becker's.

Ich halte die Aufschläge von Stich fast alle für regelwidrig.Noch bevor der Ball den Schläger verlässt berühren seine Füße die Grundlinie oder sogar das Spielfeld.Schauen Sie mal genau hin.Leider ist das nie geahndet worden.

Michael Stich was first noticed by me in the year 1991 Wimbledon Semis when he defeated Stefan Edberg and stopped Becker-Edberg consecutive fourth meeting.

He was not getting what he deserved. When Stich won against Boris i felt a bit sad even as German. Boris was already a legend @ that time and Germany´s beloved No.1 Wunderkind.
How dare you win against our Bumm Bumm Boris Hero.
Boris was a warrior and Stich the more elegant player
Best Phase of German Tennis (Graf, Becker, Stich) till today

Michael Stich has the one of the best second serve in tennis history. In spite of his low percentage of first serve he was able to keep winning.

    シュティッヒのプレースタイルは本当にかっこよくて、当時無敵を誇ったサンプラスにも勝ち越していた。今の若い人たちにシュティッヒって言ってもしらないんだよなあ……。
