Imagine how cool vultures would have been if they were added as passive mobs that start to circle around you if you are dying of hunger. In the event that you die, they stay where you died and serve as a death marker so you can get your stuff back so long as it hasn't despawned.
Mojang literally said that they steal items from dead players lmfao. Not that I don't want them to be in the game(they only spawn in badlands, after all. Isn't gonna be too annoying), it's just that this idea literally contradicts their entire point.
I love how almost always, youtubers ended up influencing the votes for the worst. Literally almost no real threats in the ocean and is a very barren experience and yet vote for yet another night time mob in land which sounded quite dumb. A squid that just “glows” instead of literally anything else.

Actually glow squids are very nice and it's good they won as they are very useful for signs and a few other things also them being in caves all over just adds a nice detail even tho they just die half the time. Actually NVM they suck
With how easy it would be to add Glow Squids and Mooblooms (being literally reskins of existing mobs already) it's incredibly annoying why they couldn't just add them both and still have plenty of time to implement the Iceologer.
I think a big issue with the mob votes is the lack of clarity for what each mob is going to do. The phantom, at the time, sounded pretty cool. I voted for the Chillager, but when the Glow-Squid got in I had hoped that it would bring in a glowing variant for every dyable block and item. Alas, that wasn't the case. The Glow-Squid also seemed like it would have some kind of weird hypnosis effect, but I guess that was just a joke for the video? The newest mob vote was pretty clear as far as each mob's function went, it wasn't a bad vote by any means (RIP copper boi though)
Phantom did not sound cool, it was the least favorite to win. It literally just lost because they keep doing livestream voting instead of leaving the votes open for 24 hours worldwide.

Also on servers unless they have a special setting the night will rarely skip. It depends on the amount of players obviously but you almost never get all the players sleeping at the same time.
I'm glad everyone isn't too disappointed with the alley, but I'm still disappointed that the copper golem didn't get in. It would've been the first new buildable mob since the iron golem and snow golem. Plus it just looked really cute and had a cool function. Hopefully we'll one day be able to see all the mobs that didn't make it into the vote. #justiceforcoppergolem
In my defense, I really thought glow squid would finally give us a mobile light source. They need to explain the mobs better before we vote because the idea we have for a mob will always be cooler than the one we get
Mojang will never made glow new stuff materials because in reality squids dont drop glow dyes. And Glow squids are very rare to find and can be in found in the deep ocean or in the cave underwater deep.
I personally think that the way the glow squid has been implemented is fine, adding nice ambience to deep aquifers, though I will agree that it would've been better as a mobile light source. The cow would've worked as well.

As people complain day and night about phantoms being annoying, I'm pretty sure others would have the same outcome. Yes that Blaze king thing sounds cool and all, but aren't the regular blazes annoying enough? What difference would a badass version of it make? Oh so now these blazes can snipe you with 12 shots instead of one, leaving you no means of dodging. And has a shield too so your arrows won't make enough damage. Other 2 are even worse. People already complain about guardians being hard to deal, and they're not even roaming in the ocean they only hangout in their temples. I don't think a jumpscare in middle of deep ocean would do any good for anybody (altho not gonna lie, it was a bit considerate given 1.13 was the aquatic update). And that trap thing was also a jumpscare that could rip your enchantments away. That doesn't sound cool and exciting for me, it sounds awful and annoying. So yeah between these I'd pick Phantom

Considering how the Sniffer has history (plus functionality and new possible plants), and how the community wants it mostly for the lore. I'm starting to believe they're reconsidering adding the three mobs from 2017 Mob Vote. As someone who loves lores on video games (most of the time), it'll actually be interesting and makes meeting/defeating them in battle would have more value than just *FARM.* 🧐
@@slig4656 mojang should just make all four, but their product is much higher quality than any mod I’ve ever played (I’ve played dozens, from the good to the bad). Most mods are buggy, have frame rate and lag issues, and get updated rarely. Also, the devs have to carefully consider every decision they make because if they spend a bunch of time on the glare mob, for example, and nobody likes it, it was a waste of dev resources they could’ve used on something that would make them much more money.

Mob D is one of the coolest things ive ever seen. I love me a new challenge,and also a new hostile mob,so finding out that two notorious monsters (Mob D/chillager) lost to an updated bat and a re-skinned squid makes me wanna fucking puke
Personally for me, I don't want a bunch of new hostile mobs being added to the game. When I play minecraft, I don't want to have to always worry about being jump scared by something trying to kill me when I simply just want to get resources. That's why I didn't vote for them.
I hope all the mobs that are “gone forever” will return. All the remaining mobs in the first vote were cool. The second vote was 50% good. And the third had a cool copper golem and I love copper
yeah i really wanted the King blaze and the Frostellager (im fine with the glow squid tho) and the allay is kinda bad because its hard to find pillager outposts and woodland mansions
I voted for the phantom, but the idea of it sounded super cool back then. A big flying creature haunting you at night, they even used to grow the longer you didnt sleep I think. It definitely isnt the fault of the community. Just badly implemented

I still find it shocking that only 2,229 people were involved in the vote that got the phantom in, and by my calculations, only *71* more people voted the phantom over Mob C. *71* people led to the addition of likely the most hated mob in the most-sold game of all time.

@@liz4460 my dark zombie dungeon exp farm sometimes spawns glow squid which end up getting cornered and drown . recently look in my drops chest to find a lot of glowing sacks and I was like . NICE this exp farm is also spawning and killing automatically the worst mob . xD
It always makes me feel weird that the mob votes lasted such a short amount of time. For how big of an impact the votes had on the state of one of the biggest videogames of all time, the mob votes came and went in the blink of an eye.
It's also pretty dumb that it's only done on Twitter, meaning you can only vote if you have an account there making a large portion of the community ineligible to participate. For how big Mojang is they could easily set up a poll on their own site or even within the game.
6:24 I assumed the Phantoms would only exist to a single player at a time, so as you fought them others would see you swinging at empty air and firing arrows at literal nothing.
The fact that the modding community can add 100 times more interesting and diverse mobs that actually work well in the game over one year while Mojang does not even a fraction of that in a couple of years is really sad
As useless as the copper golem is, it would've been fun to have a little robot to hangout with and be responsible for as opposed to a dog, cat, parrot, etc.
I wanted it because I though it could be used in many different build. Labratory: have golems pressing buttons to make them look like scientists. Steampunk: have golems around like they are maintaining engines. Any ancient build: have an army of oxidized golems all lined up in a grand hall. And the list goes on but everyone always said "it's just a less efficient randomizer"

I mean. we already Automate item gathering. and pick up stuff we want already.

That’s also adding the fact that I normally don’t see their ink sacs in areas where they die, so they fill up my inventory and it gets pretty annoying having to clear it out every 10 minutes But thanks for the compliment!

I was sad to hear that the Wild Fire and the Iceologer lost the Mob Votes, but I am happy they are added into Minecraft Dungeons, which is the second game. I was still glad to encounter and fight them in the game.

Yeah but it has one glaring weakness: fire Res. With fire resistance you could literally just charge in and not take any damage. I personally voted for the great hunger bc it's basically a bear trap mob that could mess with your enchants which sounds rly interesting

The first mob vote was actually in 2016, where Jeb asked fans wether they wanted either the alpaca or llama to be added in 1.11. The llama won, and so it was added soon after. Alpaca’s probably won’t be added any time soon, since their practically the same thing as llamas, unless they would be different somehow.
For as popular as "The hovering Inferno" was, I was surprised to not see it added into the Nether update. You would assume that reusing a previously "scrapped" idea would be very convenient, while also making people happy to see a mob they wanted in the first place. Anyway, I'm still holding out hope for a Moobloom. If there's ever an update to plants and foliage, it would be nice to see it added.
Honestly, all the mobs in 2017 would’ve fit perfectly in the past few updates. Mob A would’ve been perfect for Update Aquatic, The Phantom would’ve fit well in Village and Pillage, Mob D would’ve worked well in the Nether Update, and Mob C would’ve been perfect for Caves and Cliffs.
the piglins are basically the hovering inferno+. they spawn randomly in some of the biomes, are hostile (unless you have gold), and have ranged attacks. so in a way they did add the hovering inferno
I'm my defense for voting for the phantom, it sounded way cooler in concept, they really were a letdown. When it said they would attack players who hadn't slept i imagined just going about my night farming spiders and then as you said hearing a noise, only to find a fearsome beast behind me, but really they do like no damage and aren't scary at all.
Yeah I think it would be cool if they didn’t dive bomb for 1/2 a heart with no hit box. Maybe if it were bigger and more of a mini boss it would be cool bc you’d actually fear it probably
Personally I would really like phantoms if their hitboxes were just a bit bigger. That being said, I wasn't playing the game at the time of the vote, so idk what I would've actually picked.
The fact that UA-camrs can create all 3 of these mobs in just days shows that Mojang could make the vote determine which order the mobs get into the game at bare minimum.
Honestly mob votes as a concept just don't mesh well, voting for 3 mobs and having the other two just wiped off feels incredibly dumb and can very easily just create unnecessary controversy, honestly I think I good idea would be to add a hostile mob that has unique attacks and then a passive mob that has a unique use. Another thing to note is that all the votes take place on twitter which is a pretty idiotic choice since it means nonminecraft players (aka trolls that will try to make fans mad) can determine the vote because of the influence of popular youtubers, having a website that only allows those with a legit minecraft account to vote, would be much better, also the votes really should last longer and shouldn't just stay up for an hour which leaves millions out.
I agree. The votes should last longer (maybe like a week ?) and have it on the Minecraft site or launcher so only those that have the game can vote. There are a handful of videos that suggest new changes to how the votes should work.
I'm not seeing how a large game company backed by the largest computer technology company in NA in charge of the most popular rated E game ever made can't just add all 3 mobs rather then making people vote for them. minecraft was the most purchased game for 3 years running, you can't tell me they don't have the money.

I would have thought most Dream fans would have a Minecraft account, so although an MC-account requirement is something they should do and would help with trolls who don't care about the game, it wouldn't do anything for that scenario.
I hope one day theres just a massive update called the "Revenge of the Losers" or something, and just have all the mobs that weren't voted put into the game and be extremely aggressive, even the fricken moobloom. Maybe one day they'll put some of these in another mob vote, so they have a second chance. I hate the fact that theres some mobs just missing forever.
See, this is why I have such huge respect for Minecraft's modding community. They pretty much have made mods that prove its possible to add in the loseing votes and show they could still being added into the game easily which is somethingthat Mojang (or mbaye just Microsoft in general) can't even seem to still figure out.
I want to point out that Mojang made it seem that the glow squid would "hypnotize" players (an interesting new mechanic I may add) when they got close to it. So not only did the glow squid NOT give off actual light, its also didnt "hypnotize" players either.

Tbh, I think all three mobs from the 2020 mob vote could have fit really well with Caves and Cliffs. The moobloom would have went well with the lush cave's more nature theme, the glow squid worked well as a water mob alongside the axolotl, and the iceologer would have been a great addition to the mountains alongside the goats. Man.
@@Allodoxxed Same. I desperately wanted Moobloom to win. And I’m still sad about it losing in the first round. Then I wanted Iceologer to win, because the other option is literally just a blue squid. And now that the blue squid is in the game, it’s fine, I like what it does to signs, but I’m not going to pretend that either Moobloom or Iceologer would’ve been way better.
I feel like the only problem with the iceologer is it would either make mountains to hard to climb (a long with goats, taller heights and powder snow) or fall into just a variant category ( like the husk and stray)
@@queenofmoons720 If you have difficulty climbing mountains with a chillager on it you might need to relearn minecraft... mojang never implemented a difficult mob, and according to this they might never do.
I liked the copper golem, as there are only two other golems. We already have water streams on ice to transport items, and item sorters are much faster and simpler. I've never used allays in survival. They're just fairies that like music and can sort through items, all of which already have solutions.
I think the mob voting was the beginning of the end for me. I started playing less and less once the phantom was released in favor of the better sounding mobs.
Honestly the main reason why I liked the moobloom was theming, I think having more variations of different mobs in certain biomes is a really fun idea and could add more variation and atmosphere. Also they’re just really cute

I mean, not recently. We’ve gotten huge updates pretty frequently. The Nether Update, which still was 2 years ago but the best update yet, a WHOLE Mountains and Caves rework that’s actually GOOD and outshines most if not all mods, and the Deep Dark, which is pretty high effort, just LOOK. Sure the warden should be a boss and reward you more for killing it, but other than that, yeah. We can ignore Bees, the Color update and certain prior releases. Mojang is set for the future. So there are your options: 1:A powerfull pillager being able to summon ice chunks and smash you 2:A mistyrius cow that can grow flowers on its back or 3:A fucking glowing calmari that dies on its own most of the time

When looking at the first mob vote, I see that everyone compares the current iteration of the phantom against their speculation of what the other mobs could have been. The unfortunate thing about that is there could be a definite chance that the other mobs would have not lived up to people's original expectation of them, thus making it no different than the scenario with the phantom. I would like to say, however, that I was not playing minecraft at the time of the first mob vote, so I am just simply speaking from a neutral position.
Tl;dr: We should stop voting on mobs based on how we would like them to be in game, but vote instead on how we think mojang will implement them. If mojang has promised certain things for a mob, do not expect them to implement them in the way you want them to, expect them to implement mobs and their properties in the easiest way possible. I completely agree with this, I feel like most of the time players vote for the most interesting sounding mob, phantoms were promised to live in the end, and attack players like a, well, phantom. but we ended up getting a glorified hostile bat. The glow squid was said to have musical hypnotism powers and useful drops, of course most people knew that even this was boring compared to the other options but the vote was slightly tampered, and we ended up with, a retextured squid and some cool sign fonts (a complete shock to absolutely nobody). This is the reason I think the Allay is going to fail, because almost every time we get a vote, players vote big, on mobs that have more vague properties because the more vague the properties of the mob is, the more they can assume it will work how they want it to, and not really putting much thought into how mojang will make it. The more vague the mob is, the more people will come up with their own ideas on how the mob works, the more disappointed they will be when mojang makes the mob infinitely more boring in game, because it will be easier to implement than more ambitious mob qualities. The Allay will be implemented with this same design philosophy. Mojang will disappoint, because they have only promised us that it is a mob that will pick stuff up, and drop it at a noteblock, players are going to expect more than that but that is likely all it will do. Worst of all, mobs cannot load chunks, so if you die somewhere in the world far away, you won’t be able to give the allay a copy of your gear, and expect it to find it for you, because an allay can only operate in the chunks you are in, and in terms of farms, what more use can an unreliable mob have than completely reliable blocks (hoppers), sure it may be cheaper, but it might also not be, what if the allay is only found in rare areas, and players have to travel miles to go find them, how much cheaper is that than just mining for half an hour for iron? Why trust the functionality of your farm, with a mob that might die, pick up the items from the wrong area, or wander off over the functionality of a hopper that will consistently collect from the same block? We have been given too little information on how the mob will work, which is why I think players like it (they will always vote for what they think a mob will be, rather than it’s actual named qualities, e.g. players think allays will phase through walls even though that was never promised), and also why it will fail (mojang will never make a mob that will live up to what players have hyped it up to be, preferring to implement a mob more easily with the functions promised, rather than implement functions players assume will be there, but was never promised).
Except in the phantom mob vote for example it told exactly what it would do. In future votes they told way less about them which annoys me because you don't know their potential

It would be interesting to see how the Hovering inferno would effect speedruning if it were added. As blazes and nether fortresses are a very important part of speedrunning. I feel it would be kind of similar to the Piglin brute in 1.16.

I still think the most annyoing part about the phantom is how it spawns. Having a mob which is annyoing to be around and aweful to fight, spawn when the player does not skip the night by using the bed is genuinly bad design. The night is one of the challenges of minecraft. Players should either be punished for skipping the night too many times or rewarded for not skipping it.

I think Glare would've filled a niche type of useless part of the game, which in a way, would've been kind of perfect for the update. Anyway, I think mob votes are stupid. I want them all.
The devs have like infinite ideas so asking the community to pick one from the top ideas is not bad if the rest of the mobs will get added but the phantom mob vote was definitely stupid.
We could have an insane bossfight at the bottom of the ocean with the ocean terror, we could have a intense fight within the nether fortress against the king of the blazes. But we got vex v2.
Minecraft should really do an update where they add everything. Every mob that lost the mob votes; every biome that lost; every feature. It would truly be an awesome update.
we need a jungle update next with jungle villages up in the trees called "hanging villages" and canoes and other cool stuff to add to the jungle. I think a Jungle update would be cool and should be included in the wild update
The game honestly needs more to do after getting diamond tools. Also the fact that building is still so limited in survival mode. We should be able to build machines or tools that let us produce and place large amounts of blocks.

Or if you could place blocks in some third person view, cause by the end of the game you get tired of how long it takes to build things and just go creative.

For me, it's more satisfying to finally complete my survival builds after gathering all the resources and spending the time on building them. I feel like the phantoms can do with an AI update as well as more features that incentivize staying up for a few days, and the phantoms as a gate keeper of those features. For example what if the new frogs croaked more frequently when a thunderstorm is five days away. This prompts the player to stay up for a few days and have to deal with phantoms in order to get the benefits of a thunderstorm; like powdered snow farms, mob heads through charged creepers, brown mooshroom, and skeleton horses.
I’m still not sold on the allay, but enough people are psyched about its potential usefulness that I’m hopeful it’ll be good when it comes out. Was really hoping for the copper golem personally, another usage for copper, along with copper buttons, and a good way to add randomization to redstone.
Tbh allay doesnt really seem as useful as people make it out to be since we have hoppers/hopper minecarts. Copper golems wouldve been a fun alternative to chicken randomizers that i could see being used for fun little contraptions (although even it's uses seem kinda limited still).

The glare is f3, the golem is only there as decoration, the allay... you all seem blind to how flying mobs have horrendous path finding in this game, they are just gonna increase the lag of farms while doing their work slower than a minecart that's it.
Phantoms could easily be revived by making it extremely hard to capture and tame one, just sayin'. Having a mountable flying mob would be a nice second tier to elytras.
@@InternetAntagonist Maybe, but also maybe not. It depends on the implementation IMO. Should it still burn in daylight? Maybe it could have it's own armor in netherite that stops this. Should it still be capable of attacking? If not, it's just a flying mount. Should you need multiple rare items to tame it? Perhaps it has to be done in the air while using an elytra. Anyways, there are perfectly reasonable methods of making this not as OP. Certainly wouldn't be any more OP than elytras + fireworks.
@@kilospade i think phantoms should be scary non-physical mobs that give you effects instead of damage since they spawn because of insomnia. You’d need to use items like soul lanterns to scare them away or make them physical to kill and loot them. I think it could be coherent. Or maybe have a few of them spawn every night but only being able to see you when you lack sleep and have a chance to attack living hostile mobs (but maybe only in swamps or on full moon). Apart from wolves and foxes and maybe cats there s little to no interaction between usual mobs.
The thing I hate most about the mob vote is that its such a WASTE of potential. The mob ideas are super creative and inspiring (yes, even the Moobloom and Glow Squid. I love fun twists on existing concepts) but 2/3 of them get scrapped and the remaining 1/3 never lives up to their potential. Phantoms are super annoying because they spawn too quickly and too often, they sound annoying, and their Phantom Membrane drop is nearly useless. Its a fantasy item, surely they can think of more uses for it, right? Invisible item frames (which people have been asking for in survival), obtainable levitation potions maybe, would be a great place to start. Glow Squids don't actually glow (not even just a visual effect like optifine) and their Glow Ink also doesn't do much outside of signs. They could have had glowing leather armor, decorative lanterns crafted with the ink, heck even just being able to craft cyan dye with it would have been nice. They could have made the Glow Squids have a visual light, but instead of reworking the lighting engine just make it so hostile mobs can't spawn near them or something so it mimics an actual light source. Sniffers have only TWO PLANTS! And the Torchflowers don't even emit light. They're super annoying to get in bulk because of the Sniffer's memory mechanic preventing it from digging in the same spot twice, and there was a third vine-like plant shown in a leaked image that got scrapped entirely despite looking visually complete! It baffles me how they come up with concepts and ideas and just SCRAP THEM! Its a waste of creativity! And surely they could come up with more plant ideas, right? The Sniffer has some of the most potential of any mob vote mob, due to it allowing creative and visually stunning fantasy plants. But they dropped the ball by not adding enough plants. As someone who spends a lot of time working on mod ideas and data packs, its really REALLY not hard. All you need is the texture/idea for it, since they're just copying the same mechanics as other plants like the crops and flowers, which are already in the game.
I still miss the Moobloom… and what makes it worse is that when it lost, I really wanted the Chillager to win, since it actually looked pretty cool compared to a blue squid. And it didn’t. That vote was easily my least favorite one ever.
I’d like to point out that the disenchainting feature from Mob C of 2017’s mob vote did get added in the form of the grindstone. Mojang might not add the vote-losing concepts in full, but the ideas may still be reused in some form or another. Also the campfire totally carried the Taiga by being such a good building block otherwise I don’t really believe there would be much reason to vote for the taiga otherwise. As someone who lived in Hong Kong until about a year ago, this year’s mob vote was the one where I was finally able to wake up on time to get my vote in lol. I feel you, MisterEpic
@@Dynamo33 It is not, far from it. The Hunger had enough details made known to make an actual mob with it. One that hungers for your enchantments in an unpredictable, mob like style while attacking from below making any biome it spawns in much more stressful. And as mentioned, it's function to remove enchants was added in the form of a grindstone down the line in vanilla. So that more or less confirms that function as well.
i think the mountains winning against the savanna was worth it, even at face value, as a builder. campfires are some of the most useful detailing blocks ever and make everything look perfect if used correctly.
I certainly think that vote was good all around. All 3 were necessary, so each one should've happened. I wonder what building ideas we could've done with Termite nests, especially if there was a "Vacant Termite nest" block. Also i'm a sucker for wood types, so i wonder how the baobab wood would've looked like. Aesthetically, i can understand desert, but it is what it's supposed to be, and palm trees only make sense near water sources. Plus deserts already had their own variants of villages, wells, and the desert temple, and the Savannah seemed the most lacking.
I think the glow squid had a lot of potential, I thought it would drop a glowing dye that would give us the ability to craft a glowing blocks of various different colors like glass and wool.
Copper golem is adorable but would actually be useful if redstone logic was much more understanding. The concept was really cute i hope one day it resurfaces.
Remember that some features from mobs in the 2017 mob vote were added into the game, like the ability for mobs to hold shields from the Hovering Inferno and the ability to remove enchantments through the grindstone from the Great Hunger
So if Mob B lost, there would eventually be an insomnia mechanic in the gane that would likely give you bad effects of you negated sleep. I'd pick weak flying mob over poison for the whole game day.
@@jeuno. personally, i have almost no problems with Phantoms. I always go to sleep most nights in the overworld, and sometimes I will stay up to shoot them down for sport. I see them as easily countered fun clay shooting rather than annoyances. Also I cant live without Slow Fall Potions.
Fun fact Mob D- Hovering Inferno, which is known as Wildfire was actually in the files in MC dungeons, where you can see the way it moves and it’s textures. Even the developers mentioned it as a unfinished mob for the nether DLC

I love how almost always, youtubers ended up influencing the votes for the worst. Literally almost no real threats in the ocean and is a very barren experience and yet vote for yet another night time mob in land which sounded quite dumb. A squid that just “glows” instead of literally anything else.

With how easy it would be to add Glow Squids and Mooblooms (being literally reskins of existing mobs already) it's incredibly annoying why they couldn't just add them both and still have plenty of time to implement the Iceologer.

I think a big issue with the mob votes is the lack of clarity for what each mob is going to do. The phantom, at the time, sounded pretty cool. I voted for the Chillager, but when the Glow-Squid got in I had hoped that it would bring in a glowing variant for every dyable block and item. Alas, that wasn't the case.
The Glow-Squid also seemed like it would have some kind of weird hypnosis effect, but I guess that was just a joke for the video?
The newest mob vote was pretty clear as far as each mob's function went, it wasn't a bad vote by any means (RIP copper boi though)

Also on servers unless they have a special setting the night will rarely skip. It depends on the amount of players obviously but you almost never get all the players sleeping at the same time.
I'm glad everyone isn't too disappointed with the alley, but I'm still disappointed that the copper golem didn't get in. It would've been the first new buildable mob since the iron golem and snow golem. Plus it just looked really cute and had a cool function. Hopefully we'll one day be able to see all the mobs that didn't make it into the vote. #justiceforcoppergolem

Mojang will never made glow new stuff materials because in reality squids dont drop glow dyes. And Glow squids are very rare to find and can be in found in the deep ocean or in the cave underwater deep.

As people complain day and night about phantoms being annoying, I'm pretty sure others would have the same outcome. Yes that Blaze king thing sounds cool and all, but aren't the regular blazes annoying enough? What difference would a badass version of it make? Oh so now these blazes can snipe you with 12 shots instead of one, leaving you no means of dodging. And has a shield too so your arrows won't make enough damage. Other 2 are even worse. People already complain about guardians being hard to deal, and they're not even roaming in the ocean they only hangout in their temples. I don't think a jumpscare in middle of deep ocean would do any good for anybody (altho not gonna lie, it was a bit considerate given 1.13 was the aquatic update). And that trap thing was also a jumpscare that could rip your enchantments away. That doesn't sound cool and exciting for me, it sounds awful and annoying. So yeah between these I'd pick Phantom

@@Petrslav Yeah phantoms wasn't meant to be hit and fly birds. They should put up a good fight with I dunno projectiles and potion effects and stuff. Only annoyance I think that could've work out well is if phantoms didn't let you sleep. Like if they had double or triple the range of not letting you sleep. As of right now, you don't need to fight phantoms. Just wait until they're high up in the sky then sleep; the sun will do the job for ya

Considering how the Sniffer has history (plus functionality and new possible plants), and how the community wants it mostly for the lore. I'm starting to believe they're reconsidering adding the three mobs from 2017 Mob Vote. As someone who loves lores on video games (most of the time), it'll actually be interesting and makes meeting/defeating them in battle would have more value than just *FARM.* 🧐

@@slig4656 mojang should just make all four, but their product is much higher quality than any mod I’ve ever played (I’ve played dozens, from the good to the bad). Most mods are buggy, have frame rate and lag issues, and get updated rarely. Also, the devs have to carefully consider every decision they make because if they spend a bunch of time on the glare mob, for example, and nobody likes it, it was a waste of dev resources they could’ve used on something that would make them much more money.

Few massive updates as of late have compared to mods that have been developed by the community

Exactly it would give the Ice spikes a actually reason to exist. They would have been a annoying thing to fight but I think it would be a really fun job to add in. You could even add in a new structure to go along with them like a Witch hut

Personally for me, I don't want a bunch of new hostile mobs being added to the game. When I play minecraft, I don't want to have to always worry about being jump scared by something trying to kill me when I simply just want to get resources. That's why I didn't vote for them.

It always makes me feel weird that the mob votes lasted such a short amount of time. For how big of an impact the votes had on the state of one of the biggest videogames of all time, the mob votes came and went in the blink of an eye.
It's also pretty dumb that it's only done on Twitter, meaning you can only vote if you have an account there making a large portion of the community ineligible to participate. For how big Mojang is they could easily set up a poll on their own site or even within the game.

The fact that the modding community can add 100 times more interesting and diverse mobs that actually work well in the game over one year while Mojang does not even a fraction of that in a couple of years is really sad
As useless as the copper golem is, it would've been fun to have a little robot to hangout with and be responsible for as opposed to a dog, cat, parrot, etc.
I wanted it because I though it could be used in many different build. Labratory: have golems pressing buttons to make them look like scientists.
Steampunk: have golems around like they are maintaining engines.
Any ancient build: have an army of oxidized golems all lined up in a grand hall.
And the list goes on but everyone always said "it's just a less efficient randomizer"

That’s also adding the fact that I normally don’t see their ink sacs in areas where they die, so they fill up my inventory and it gets pretty annoying having to clear it out every 10 minutes

I was sad to hear that the Wild Fire and the Iceologer lost the Mob Votes, but I am happy they are added into Minecraft Dungeons, which is the second game. I was still glad to encounter and fight them in the game.

The first mob vote was actually in 2016, where Jeb asked fans wether they wanted either the alpaca or llama to be added in 1.11. The llama won, and so it was added soon after. Alpaca’s probably won’t be added any time soon, since their practically the same thing as llamas, unless they would be different somehow.
For as popular as "The hovering Inferno" was, I was surprised to not see it added into the Nether update. You would assume that reusing a previously "scrapped" idea would be very convenient, while also making people happy to see a mob they wanted in the first place. Anyway, I'm still holding out hope for a Moobloom. If there's ever an update to plants and foliage, it would be nice to see it added.

I'm my defense for voting for the phantom, it sounded way cooler in concept, they really were a letdown. When it said they would attack players who hadn't slept i imagined just going about my night farming spiders and then as you said hearing a noise, only to find a fearsome beast behind me, but really they do like no damage and aren't scary at all.

Personally I would really like phantoms if their hitboxes were just a bit bigger. That being said, I wasn't playing the game at the time of the vote, so idk what I would've actually picked.
The fact that UA-camrs can create all 3 of these mobs in just days shows that Mojang could make the vote determine which order the mobs get into the game at bare minimum.

Honestly mob votes as a concept just don't mesh well, voting for 3 mobs and having the other two just wiped off feels incredibly dumb and can very easily just create unnecessary controversy, honestly I think I good idea would be to add a hostile mob that has unique attacks and then a passive mob that has a unique use. Another thing to note is that all the votes take place on twitter which is a pretty idiotic choice since it means nonminecraft players (aka trolls that will try to make fans mad) can determine the vote because of the influence of popular youtubers, having a website that only allows those with a legit minecraft account to vote, would be much better, also the votes really should last longer and shouldn't just stay up for an hour which leaves millions out.
I agree. The votes should last longer (maybe like a week ?) and have it on the Minecraft site or launcher so only those that have the game can vote.

I would have thought most Dream fans would have a Minecraft account, so although an MC-account requirement is something they should do and would help with trolls who don't care about the game, it wouldn't do anything for that scenario.
I hope one day theres just a massive update called the "Revenge of the Losers" or something, and just have all the mobs that weren't voted put into the game and be extremely aggressive, even the fricken moobloom.

See, this is why I have such huge respect for Minecraft's modding community. They pretty much have made mods that prove its possible to add in the loseing votes and show they could still being added into the game easily which is somethingthat Mojang (or mbaye just Microsoft in general) can't even seem to still figure out.
I want to point out that Mojang made it seem that the glow squid would "hypnotize" players (an interesting new mechanic I may add) when they got close to it. So not only did the glow squid NOT give off actual light, its also didnt "hypnotize" players either.
I thought the glow ink sac could have been a new potion ingredient for a paralisis - hypnosis effect or something else

Tbh, I think all three mobs from the 2020 mob vote could have fit really well with Caves and Cliffs. The moobloom would have went well with the lush cave's more nature theme, the glow squid worked well as a water mob alongside the axolotl, and the iceologer would have been a great addition to the mountains alongside the goats. Man.

And now that the blue squid is in the game, it’s fine, I like what it does to signs, but I’m not going to pretend that either Moobloom or Iceologer would’ve been way better.
I feel like the only problem with the iceologer is it would either make mountains to hard to climb (a long with goats, taller heights and powder snow) or fall into just a variant category ( like the husk and stray)

I liked the copper golem, as there are only two other golems. We already have water streams on ice to transport items, and item sorters are much faster and simpler. I've never used allays in survival. They're just fairies that like music and can sort through items, all of which already have solutions.
I think the mob voting was the beginning of the end for me. I started playing less and less once the phantom was released in favor of the better sounding mobs.
Honestly the main reason why I liked the moobloom was theming, I think having more variations of different mobs in certain biomes is a really fun idea and could add more variation and atmosphere. Also they’re just really cute
The reason I wanted the moobloom, was because there was also going to be a birch forest update to go with it

I mean, not recently. We’ve gotten huge updates pretty frequently. The Nether Update, which still was 2 years ago but the best update yet, a WHOLE Mountains and Caves rework that’s actually GOOD and outshines most if not all mods, and the Deep Dark, which is pretty high effort, just LOOK. Sure the warden should be a boss and reward you more for killing it, but other than that, yeah. We can ignore Bees, the Color update and certain prior releases. Mojang is set for the future.

When looking at the first mob vote, I see that everyone compares the current iteration of the phantom against their speculation of what the other mobs could have been. The unfortunate thing about that is there could be a definite chance that the other mobs would have not lived up to people's original expectation of them, thus making it no different than the scenario with the phantom. I would like to say, however, that I was not playing minecraft at the time of the first mob vote, so I am just simply speaking from a neutral position.
Tl;dr: We should stop voting on mobs based on how we would like them to be in game, but vote instead on how we think mojang will implement them. If mojang has promised certain things for a mob, do not expect them to implement them in the way you want them to, expect them to implement mobs and their properties in the easiest way possible.
I completely agree with this, I feel like most of the time players vote for the most interesting sounding mob, phantoms were promised to live in the end, and attack players like a, well, phantom. but we ended up getting a glorified hostile bat. The glow squid was said to have musical hypnotism powers and useful drops, of course most people knew that even this was boring compared to the other options but the vote was slightly tampered, and we ended up with, a retextured squid and some cool sign fonts (a complete shock to absolutely nobody). This is the reason I think the Allay is going to fail, because almost every time we get a vote, players vote big, on mobs that have more vague properties because the more vague the properties of the mob is, the more they can assume it will work how they want it to, and not really putting much thought into how mojang will make it. The more vague the mob is, the more people will come up with their own ideas on how the mob works, the more disappointed they will be when mojang makes the mob infinitely more boring in game, because it will be easier to implement than more ambitious mob qualities. The Allay will be implemented with this same design philosophy. Mojang will disappoint, because they have only promised us that it is a mob that will pick stuff up, and drop it at a noteblock, players are going to expect more than that but that is likely all it will do. Worst of all, mobs cannot load chunks, so if you die somewhere in the world far away, you won’t be able to give the allay a copy of your gear, and expect it to find it for you, because an allay can only operate in the chunks you are in, and in terms of farms, what more use can an unreliable mob have than completely reliable blocks (hoppers), sure it may be cheaper, but it might also not be, what if the allay is only found in rare areas, and players have to travel miles to go find them, how much cheaper is that than just mining for half an hour for iron? Why trust the functionality of your farm, with a mob that might die, pick up the items from the wrong area, or wander off over the functionality of a hopper that will consistently collect from the same block? We have been given too little information on how the mob will work, which is why I think players like it (they will always vote for what they think a mob will be, rather than it’s actual named qualities, e.g. players think allays will phase through walls even though that was never promised), and also why it will fail (mojang will never make a mob that will live up to what players have hyped it up to be, preferring to implement a mob more easily with the functions promised, rather than implement functions players assume will be there, but was never promised).

I still think the most annyoing part about the phantom is how it spawns. Having a mob which is annyoing to be around and aweful to fight, spawn when the player does not skip the night by using the bed is genuinly bad design. The night is one of the challenges of minecraft. Players should either be punished for skipping the night too many times or rewarded for not skipping it.
Yes but if you punish people for sleeping too much you alienate portions of the community as well. Many player types need to be taken into account.
if you cant sleep every 3 nights i genuenly feel bad for you, you get 3 whole nights, and even so just disable spawnphantoms in the game rules.

Minecraft should really do an update where they add everything. Every mob that lost the mob votes; every biome that lost; every feature. It would truly be an awesome update.
we need a jungle update next with jungle villages up in the trees called "hanging villages" and canoes and other cool stuff to add to the jungle. I think a Jungle update would be cool and should be included in the wild update

The game honestly needs more to do after getting diamond tools. Also the fact that building is still so limited in survival mode. We should be able to build machines or tools that let us produce and place large amounts of blocks.

@@AndreasJepsenMusic like you still have to place one block at a time. I know commands exist but imagine if those were available though an item in the game. Or if you could place blocks in some third person view, cause by the end of the game you get tired of how long it takes to build things and just go creative.
@@Distress. I get where you're coming from, but i don't think it's limited in survival, it just takes up a lot of time. For me, it's more satisfying to finally complete my survival builds after gathering all the resources and spending the time on building them. And i don't get the urge to go to creative to build my stuff. But i will agree that some command like item would sick af tbh
I feel like the phantoms can do with an AI update as well as more features that incentivize staying up for a few days, and the phantoms as a gate keeper of those features. For example what if the new frogs croaked more frequently when a thunderstorm is five days away. This prompts the player to stay up for a few days and have to deal with phantoms in order to get the benefits of a thunderstorm; like powdered snow farms, mob heads through charged creepers, brown mooshroom, and skeleton horses.

I’m still not sold on the allay, but enough people are psyched about its potential usefulness that I’m hopeful it’ll be good when it comes out. Was really hoping for the copper golem personally, another usage for copper, along with copper buttons, and a good way to add randomization to redstone.
Tbh allay doesnt really seem as useful as people make it out to be since we have hoppers/hopper minecarts. Copper golems wouldve been a fun alternative to chicken randomizers that i could see being used for fun little contraptions (although even it's uses seem kinda limited still).

Copper golem would make for a neat decoration for temples build if nothing else
@Xudid Dkkdddidisidi fun fact, none of them were useful in the slightest. The glare is f3, the golem is only there as decoration, the allay... you all seem blind to how flying mobs have horrendous path finding in this game, they are just gonna increase the lag of farms while doing their work slower than a minecart that's it.
The was only useful for the redstone community, the Allay has more uses for the majority of the entire community
Phantoms could easily be revived by making it extremely hard to capture and tame one, just sayin'. Having a mountable flying mob would be a nice second tier to elytras.

Should it still burn in daylight? Maybe it could have it's own armor in netherite that stops this.
Should it still be capable of attacking? If not, it's just a flying mount.
Should you need multiple rare items to tame it? Perhaps it has to be done in the air while using an elytra.
Anyways, there are perfectly reasonable methods of making this not as OP. Certainly wouldn't be any more OP than elytras + fireworks.
@@kilospade i think phantoms should be scary non-physical mobs that give you effects instead of damage since they spawn because of insomnia.
You’d need to use items like soul lanterns to scare them away or make them physical to kill and loot them.

Or maybe have a few of them spawn every night but only being able to see you when you lack sleep and have a chance to attack living hostile mobs (but maybe only in swamps or on full moon). Apart from wolves and foxes and maybe cats there s little to no interaction between usual mobs.

The thing I hate most about the mob vote is that its such a WASTE of potential. The mob ideas are super creative and inspiring (yes, even the Moobloom and Glow Squid. I love fun twists on existing concepts) but 2/3 of them get scrapped and the remaining 1/3 never lives up to their potential.
Phantoms are super annoying because they spawn too quickly and too often, they sound annoying, and their Phantom Membrane drop is nearly useless. Its a fantasy item, surely they can think of more uses for it, right? Invisible item frames (which people have been asking for in survival), obtainable levitation potions maybe, would be a great place to start.
Glow Squids don't actually glow (not even just a visual effect like optifine) and their Glow Ink also doesn't do much outside of signs. They could have had glowing leather armor, decorative lanterns crafted with the ink, heck even just being able to craft cyan dye with it would have been nice. They could have made the Glow Squids have a visual light, but instead of reworking the lighting engine just make it so hostile mobs can't spawn near them or something so it mimics an actual light source.
Sniffers have only TWO PLANTS! And the Torchflowers don't even emit light. They're super annoying to get in bulk because of the Sniffer's memory mechanic preventing it from digging in the same spot twice, and there was a third vine-like plant shown in a leaked image that got scrapped entirely despite looking visually complete! It baffles me how they come up with concepts and ideas and just SCRAP THEM! Its a waste of creativity! And surely they could come up with more plant ideas, right? The Sniffer has some of the most potential of any mob vote mob, due to it allowing creative and visually stunning fantasy plants. But they dropped the ball by not adding enough plants. As someone who spends a lot of time working on mod ideas and data packs, its really REALLY not hard. All you need is the texture/idea for it, since they're just copying the same mechanics as other plants like the crops and flowers, which are already in the game.
Small detail I noticed is that "The Hovering Inferno" can be seen in Minecraft Dungeons and is named "Wildfire"
I still miss the Moobloom… and what makes it worse is that when it lost, I really wanted the Chillager to win, since it actually looked pretty cool compared to a blue squid. And it didn’t. That vote was easily my least favorite one ever.

I’d like to point out that the disenchainting feature from Mob C of 2017’s mob vote did get added in the form of the grindstone. Mojang might not add the vote-losing concepts in full, but the ideas may still be reused in some form or another. Also the campfire totally carried the Taiga by being such a good building block otherwise I don’t really believe there would be much reason to vote for the taiga otherwise.
As someone who lived in Hong Kong until about a year ago, this year’s mob vote was the one where I was finally able to wake up on time to get my vote in lol. I feel you, MisterEpic

@@Dynamo33 It is not, far from it. The Hunger had enough details made known to make an actual mob with it. One that hungers for your enchantments in an unpredictable, mob like style while attacking from below making any biome it spawns in much more stressful.
And as mentioned, it's function to remove enchants was added in the form of a grindstone down the line in vanilla. So that more or less confirms that function as well.
I like how UA-camrs are surprised at the mob votes after telling their fans (most of which are little kids) which mobs to vote for.
I'd be interested in how many players do NOT disable phantom spawning...
i think the mountains winning against the savanna was worth it, even at face value, as a builder. campfires are some of the most useful detailing blocks ever and make everything look perfect if used correctly.

Campfire has been quite the various aesthetic to me, I'm glad they added that to the game.
I certainly think that vote was good all around. All 3 were necessary, so each one should've happened. I wonder what building ideas we could've done with Termite nests, especially if there was a "Vacant Termite nest" block. Also i'm a sucker for wood types, so i wonder how the baobab wood would've looked like.
Aesthetically, i can understand desert, but it is what it's supposed to be, and palm trees only make sense near water sources. Plus deserts already had their own variants of villages, wells, and the desert temple, and the Savannah seemed the most lacking.
To me it doesn’t really matter as long as we get them all in the end. I personally would have picked the taiga if I voted.
I think the glow squid had a lot of potential, I thought it would drop a glowing dye that would give us the ability to craft a glowing blocks of various different colors like glass and wool.

Mojang there's one simple solution to all the anger, controversy, and disagreement... Just add all the mobs.
Copper golem is adorable but would actually be useful if redstone logic was much more understanding. The concept was really cute i hope one day it resurfaces.
Remember that some features from mobs in the 2017 mob vote were added into the game, like the ability for mobs to hold shields from the Hovering Inferno and the ability to remove enchantments through the grindstone from the Great Hunger

So if Mob B lost, there would eventually be an insomnia mechanic in the gane that would likely give you bad effects of you negated sleep. I'd pick weak flying mob over poison for the whole game day.
@@Master_Brutus You probably won't get poison but might lose your hunger a lot faster, although you might as well just sleep or play on peaceful
@@jeuno. personally, i have almost no problems with Phantoms. I always go to sleep most nights in the overworld, and sometimes I will stay up to shoot them down for sport. I see them as easily countered fun clay shooting rather than annoyances. Also I cant live without Slow Fall Potions.
Fun fact Mob D- Hovering Inferno, which is known as Wildfire was actually in the files in MC dungeons, where you can see the way it moves and it’s textures. Even the developers mentioned it as a unfinished mob for the nether DLC
