- Welcome to my guide to winning the GT Cup Gr.3 Race around Daytona Road Course on Gran Turismo 7.
GUIDE UPDATED FOR PATCH 1.48
This is an updated guide, since my last video for this race a few settings have been changed and it’s now a BoP (Balance of Performance) race. You cannot make any tuning changes to the car and you’re limited to the Racing Hard Tyres and Wet Tires.
If they make changes to the BoP system in a new patch I will update the description of this video with a patch number and my recommendations or changes if necessary.

The car I used for this race: Ford GT Race Car ‘18
Items I bought for this car from the Tuning Shop:
Racing Hard Tyres
STRATEGY: Start the race on Racing Hard Tyres, pit at the end of lap 5 for new Racing Hard Tyres and fuel, only put enough fuel for 5 laps.
You can save a little bit of fuel by slipstreaming other cars on the back straight, if you’re very comfortable with tyre wear while keeping up the pace then you may not need to change tyres at the pit stop which will save you about 5 seconds but if you’re on controller this is not recommended as your tyres will be very worn out by the end of the race.
This race is in my opinion the hardest World Circuit AI race in Gran Turismo 7. The AI are incredibly quick, this race will take a lot of practice and patience. Consistency is the key, avoid making any mistakes or crashing, if you do crash you might as well restart and try again.
If you find yourself getting frustrated, take frequent breaks and practice, practice, practice.
Use slipstreaming to your advantage on the long straights, use the slipstream to overtake cars and save fuel, be a little bit aggressive with your overtakes if you need to be. If you stay behind slower cars for too long you will lose too much time.
The Ford GT Race Car ‘18 is one of the fastest Gr.3 cars in a straight line, out of all the S tier top speed Gr.3 cars the Ford GT has some of the best handling out of any Gr.3 cars which makes this car perfect for this race, the car has no weaknesses for this track. I found that some cars oversteer quite a bit through the infield section but the Ford GT is very stable to drive.
My Brake Bias was set to 2 but this is personal preference. I recommend trying my settings but they might not work for you. Everyone has different driving styles and some settings that work for me may not work for you, I recommend messing around with the Brake Balance until you find a setting that works for you.
I have my Traction Control set to 1 but that’s personal preference, to stop the car from oversteering the lower gears you might want to put on some Traction Control or just get used to the car.

I just cannot catch the Huracan after I pit. I get the lead, pit at the end of lap 5, get through the field again but the Lamborghini runs out to a large lead. Four straight 2nd places.
This race is one of the hardest AI races in the game, it takes a lot of practice. Keep at it mate you will get there.
Did this again today for the umpteenth time, second time in the Ford. Came fourth, 4 secs behind first and I know exactly where those seconds were lost 😭. Getting closer though!
Race was won by the Lexus rcf, which is the lowest powered group 3 car of the many I own 🤨!

The AI get something called 'rubber banding' which gives them more speed on the straights compared to you.
Its basically a catch up feature to make it harder for you to win.
Poorly designed system but it is what it is.
Is there a reason you do it on "hard" as opposed to normal or easy? I know on easy it seems like the AI just race like f'ing
a$$holes and they will pit you in a turn. Just maddening lol.
But curious if there's a benefit to doing it on hard? Most of us are trying to find an easier way of getting some of these solo races accomplished. I was pretty bent after they forced the BoP on these gr4 and gr3 races. Thanks for and feedback
There is no benefit to doing it on hard besides it being a bit more of a challenge.
The AI on easy are very unpredictable unfortunately, they have zero awareness.
You can do the races on easy or normal, the rewards for winning are exactly the same across all difficulties.
The best advice I can give you is keep practicing. The more you practice the more experience you will gain and you will get faster over time.
In my opinion BoP is better because car setups can be tricky. With BoP ON all you have to do is find a car that suits your driving style and keep practicing.
@@ProdigyRacing yeah that's kinda what I figured lol. I've been at it for months and until the recent update that forced the bop, it was a bit easier
@@ProdigyRacing this is the only race that I cannot seem to get through. Wish I had done it before the recent BoP updates. For 6 months the best I could do was 5th place, but today I was able to finally take 2nd. Truthfully should've gotten the win. I was drafting the lead car and had a great run on him. I should've gone to the inside to pass instead of the outside. I got a little over excited with confidence lol. I had to use the Toyota supra concept gr3 car. Ironically it was a 97 Toyota supra I was trying to pass at the end. I caught him coming out of the final chicane, ended up side by side at the finish line with his nose crossing first. Only thing that sucks is to drive the car fast, it eats the rear tires up, and we both know there's no time to change tires. Only what fuel is needed. Definitely the most challenging race overall in my opinion. I never struggled this much in any other event.
Appreciate you video. Your driving lines, breaking points and such were very helpful. Especially since there's not really and corner distance markers at this track. Have to try and find a spot on the track and hit it every time perfectly, or restart the event lol
really the best car for this race… BUT without cutting the chicane before the last straight… just nearly impossible for most.
I have the r8 possible to win with it ?
You can try it, Im not a big fan of the audi r8 but you can try the same strategy and it might work.
I am having similar and better lap times than you, but i still can’t catch up
