Awesome video! But I'd like to correct one thing in the somali part. 'is ilaali' means like 'be careful' or 'watch out' we don't have a saying for 'take care' so we usually just say 'mac salaamo'. Nevertheless, great content man, I've been a fan for a while now!

I am somali and this guys motivated me to learn new languages. After one year I now speak 7 different language, Arabic, English, Finnish, French, Spanish, Swedish, Amharic

I've been a sporadic casual viewer, but this news hit me.. thinking on it, Do you know why this is so very sad, because unlike many UA-cam channels, laoshu's is simply a chronicle of genuine passion, diligence, curiosity, interest, humility and many other virtues (and the beautiful effect these have on other people). His videos aren't wrapped up in self-righteousness or narcissism like many social media stars -they're just an expression of true humanity really. That's why he's inspiring. I picked up two extra languages after watching laoshu, with so many arseholes out there, why did the world have to lose a good man so young. RIP laoshu (Moses Monweal McCormick)

I was watching one of his videos today and I saw a video that said RIP and I couldn’t believe it. I like to watch his videos when I’m feeling down and reflect on language is such a powerful tool that really connects us all. He showed that in his humbleness and in his laughter. So freaking sad

RIP to this man… he inspired me to learn Spanish and I’ve been learning for 7 months now and i get the same reactions from Hispanics. As a black man myself other nationalities have NO expectation that you know another language. So soon as you speak in another language speak it as much as possible to the person your in front of. To the person reading this and contemplating learning another language DO IT! It opened my mind to a whole new way of life and understanding people!

I just heard the news about his death and I am heart broken! R.i.p Moses. He was a genuinely good person and he motivated me to start learning Mandarin. I am now practicing korean and Arabic and I will continue my best to be fluent and to honour all the hard work he put in to show us that it is possible to learn a language at any age.

I discovered your material during the pandemic and I was telling some friends how amazing you were. You inspired me into continuing to learn some Chinese and it was a treat to hear you speak Vietnamese, a language many of my friends spoke when I was a child. Thank you for all that. A small consolation here is that what you did will live on in these videos, hopefully inspiring other people to reach out and learn about languages and the people who speak them. Pronounciation was slightly off, but it's hard to get Somali pronounciation. It was still really good, what was very impressive was your command of the vocab, because for some reason, being a bilingual person myself, Somali is not the easier language to express yourself in. Hey laoshu every time you speak Korean you use the 입니다 ending and I get that you want to be polite as possible but those endings are actually too formal for casual conversations like these. The only time people use it for every sentence are like newscasters, reporters and in super formal letters/emails to bosses at work. Just adding the 요 is perfectly fine for this situation.

It's actually okay to use the 입니디 ending. The 요 form is often too casual when talking to strangers (especially when they are older than you)

This has completely knocked me sideways. I just came to watch a couple of Moses's compilations today and I find out that he has left this world. I don't know what happened or why but I know that he left this world too soon. He was a fiercely intelligent man with a hunger for knowledge, a curiosity of spirit and a genuine love for people and a desire to forge connections across cultural and racial boundaries. The world was a better place with you in it and the many people that you met and inspired with your love of language will be your eternal legacy. Rest in Power Moses, you are truly missed.

It's decent but there's definitely a strong accent that makes it hard to understand sometimes (I can see why the man was confused in the beginning). That said, it's very good for being self-taught and considering the number of languages he's learned
