- In the height of the Spice race in 16th century between iberian power of Portugal and Castile (Spain), Holy Roman Emperor Charles V as king of Castile accepted Portuguese Ferdinand Magellan (Fernão de Magalhães) proposal to find western route to the spice islands of Molucca (Maluku, Indonesia).
Magellan was in charge of Castilian ('Spanish') 'Armada de Molucca' consisted of five ship with 270 crew hailed from castile, portugal, basque, venezia and asia. A malay called Henry (Enrique) of Malacca, was enslaved by Magellan during the conquest of Malay Sultanate of Malacca back in 1511 and acted as interpreter when the fleet reach its destination. After a journey of 3 years and 1 month started at September 1519 and ended in September 1522. The 18 survivors, led by Basque captain, Juan Sebastián Elcano, of Victoria ship became the first recorded people to circumnavigate the globe in a single expedition. Magellan himself never completed the journey as he was killed by Datu Lapu-Lapu off Mactan island on 27 April 1521.

@@shahrukh83 my opinion Aceh Sultanate was a military power in region. Portugal had many battles with it. The Dutchies took 38 years to dominate them. We were 5 generations in (from 1511 to 1641). We were attacked by Aceh forces and Johor. Very hard to stay there.

I don’t believe in pseudohistory, there is no evidence to prove that trip, and if it had been possible, it is most likely that it was done on a Spanish ship, and accompanied and commanded by them. This Enrique is just an anti-Spanish myth, which was created to discredit the Magellan-Elcano expedition.
There is not enough evidence about that alleged "expedition".

This whole region is called The Malay Archipelago. 1st mentioned by Sir Stamford Raffles after he researched this region & found that we are not at all the same as the Indians in the small continent of India.
The Malays, like any other big races in the world, too; have many different sects, slangs/languages in the different parts/places within the region.

While cebu city celebrated the arrival of magellan and welcomes christianity, mactan islands also celebrates the death of magellan. Isnt it confusing and contradicting. the feud of cebu city and mactan. But in real time, cebu and mactan are very close sibblings. Its locals doesnt have any conflicts.
